Reveal cinematic's direction was interesting, not the typical "wow so wacky so random" washed up millennial bullshit. But holy shit, the char and location design is just fucking hideous. And gameplay reveal looks really boring. Looks like apex legends but somehow even worse.

Some people on Reddit talked about the Destiny 2 game and how a bunch of the characters in that game are gay/queer. Same thing could happen here in Marathon. Anyway, the game seems as colorful as Apex Legends which also has woke stuff in it, so does the CoD games although not as much. People are probably going to overlook the "woke" stuff if the gameplay is good since people still play Apex Legends.
My thoughts are that the Marathon game has some inflences from the Harujuku fashion scene in Japan as well as Japanese kabuki theater.

It's happening in Tau Ceti IV and the marathon is in space, you can see a compiler in the cinematic trailer and, Durandal has been talking shit in like three trailers (I even think he is the one reading ozymandias in the cinematic one), and to top it all of that "Escape will make me God" subtitle plastered everywhere is from one of Durandal's chatlogs.
It will have to do with the original marathon for sure, we just cannot know if that's good or if it won't be trooned out.

I dare say this is Durandal talking not to the runners, but to the marine from the original games (think in a somewhat evil cortana encouraging master chief to save the day).
I think this nu marathon is taking place in one of those alternate dimensions the marine is travelling to stop the end of reality.

The art-style is unique in the AAA space but it lacks any depth. It's the kind of look that draws curiosity at first but it will get very grating after a few hours.
Nothing has any visual weight or presence. Everything is undifferentiated to an extreme degree.
All of the buildings, the interiors, the chairs, tables, guns and items have an almost identical visual character.
A game that did a similar concept to this much better was Mirrors Edge. The world was largely White or flat colored concrete just like how everything is injection molded plastic in Marathon, but that game was constantly keeping things fresh by playing with lighting, form, composition, and details that were visually differentiated from their surroundings. It managed to make each level look very different while fitting into the same world.
If this was just a single world in Destiny or one level in Halo it would be fine, but shrink-wrapping an entire game like this makes it seem like they're desperate for attention.

Looks interesting, I like the style, characters look a bit too ugly though. If they make the characters. The hate its getting is completely justified, people are extremely tired of brightly colored shooters filled with gay niggers so its expected I think.
In an ideal case scenario, they listen to people and make female characters more fuckable and remove all faggot males from the game, highly unlikely but who knows.

the developing parties seem to be at odds with themselves, not enough resources vested in it because reviving a dead ip while almost nobody originally involved with it works at bungie anymore might spell disaster for developers and investors alike, ironically having no faith in the project diverts the resources it needs to become something good.
There's great vision and tonality, I myself like the hyperfuture aesthetic and atmosphere, I unironically enjoy them looking like cyber clowns and the music is just GOOD, it feels like the halo days, or dare I say, the marathon days, but you can tell that they don't really know what to do with any of it, they seem to be trying to build a world of hostility, mistery and wonder for the great and indescipherable otherworldly unknown, but you can tell they themselves don't even know what the fuck lies behind that curtain, they are just building castles in the sky with a group of mismatched developers that I just can tell, want to turn this game into their own retarded gay project, "cyberpunk two", "apex but b e t t e r", or some shit like that.
There's no story out yet and if this doesn't fail at launch you will see a story pumped in in content drip waves, one or two seasons of genuinely interesting but scarce worldbuilding, maybe namedrops here and there, the mjolnir, durandal, pfhor, compilers (already in trailers so they WILL be the next wave of NPC pve enemies), but then,then, a robot will turn out to be queer or some dumb shit like what happened in destiny.
I believe they might be making this game for an audience that simply doesn't exist, they clearly want to captivate zoomers and redditos by making the thing revolve around extraction and androgynous future shit, but they also want to dickride boomers and millenials that know about this from the original works and know the lore could be great if done correctly, they don't understand that both audiences are often times mutually exclusive.
Also when it comes to gameplay, shit seems to be a shot for the stars that loses momentum not even halfway there, as a youtube comment said:
"for a game called marathon, for playable characters called runners, and for trailers that feature RUNNING EXTENSIVELY, these fucking things run less than normal humans"
this should play like gunz or titanfall or something like that, non stop fast action, high risk high reward and ways to keep getting into an all out hail of neon bullets over and over, but it doesn't, it's an empty map with dull ambiance and slow gameplay designed to discourage fighting, that's why I say it is a clash in vision and directions, from people basically wanting to make the real halo 4 and people wanting to make apex tarkov.
Honestly, they should just pump the map chok full of npcs with the legendary ai from halo and give the runners the ability to RUN (and jump and wall run and wall jump) like fucking super robots should instead of overheating every 5 seconds like some fatass, and they would have a way better game
