There isn't one, really. DC is currently publishing good shit, Marvel makes mostly trash but still managed to put out Gwenpool which people loved. People tend to forget that people are ignoring 99% of all comics when they reminisce about the "good old days." If you're looking for dates to just start reading comic books, there's no really anything to tell you. I just pick standalone runs and series like Kingdom Come and Astro City. Exactly. Just for basic comparisons, you always know where to start with manga. Unless it's a series like Dragonball or cancer like AOT, you'll always have an idea of where you need to start reading and can follow the volumes from there. With comics, there is no way to start. You can't get the stuff from the very beginning most of the time. While nothing you read for the character really matters. There's no progression of the character. Just endless stagnation.
It's why things like cartoons and the MCU do so well compared to comics. You know where to start, you don't need to a spend a fortune just to get the full story, and usually not everything gets retconned as you go. Almost like having story structure is a good thing for your story telling medium!

VC4's fantastic, by the way. My main issue with VC1 was how easy it was to just scout rush and 1-turn battles, but it's incredibly difficult to do in 4 due to how shit the scout weapon is.
