The question is, will he disappoint his fans by clicking FIGHT? Somehow, I don't think he will...

He already hit a monster once and turned off yellow names, causing an uproar over his own stupidity.

A guy whose job is literally video games not already knowing every minute detail about Undertale's plot and gameplay, is about as likely as a political commentator not knowing who's running for the presidency. It's all an act.

I went to check the comment section to laugh at the drama, and the video played for a couple seconds. The sound of the menu music gave me chills. I need to go back and play it again.

I suspected as much. He claimed to have gone partway through it, but I think he killed Toriel in his first run and is doing his very best to pretend that he doesn't know what's going on. Watch him "blunder into" pacifist gameplay the way he "blundered into" pink names.

and it's funny because you don't need to pretend to be an idiot to just not click the fucking nigger button unless you absolutely have to

To be honest though, he did say the first time round that he knew from the start that you don't get the proper ending unless you avoid the nigger button.

Yeah, he's going pacifist. He hasn't dealt with the fish yet, though.

Yeah, this was totally a blind run. Although I did much the same thing on my only playthrough.

Mark sucks at bullet hell, though.

I knew a lot of spoilers when I first played, so I knew how to get to Pacifist. The one thing I knew basically nothing about was the True Lab; hardly anybody mentions it in spoilers. So it hit me pretty fucking hard.

Anyway, Markiplier's a good actor, but his instincts in the gameplay don't lie. When he fights Memoryhead, he immediately moves his SOUL away from the little white dots that appear, as if he already knew they'd expand into those creepy faces. Everyone gets hit by those their first time. He also tracked immediately to the sink instead of entering the door in that room. Nobody knows that the sink has any significance until they read the note. Whether it was comments or his own research, this is about as much a blind run as my third playthrough was.

I knew what those did on my first blind run, it's just game sense. I can't excuse him knowing exactly where to look for the keys but he wouldn't have just watched how to do some of these battles ahead of time, let alone remember them. I am wolling to give him a little bit of credit, he did use to be "acceptable" at video games.

I guess I was lucky. I only knew of the "filled with determination" line, that there was a motherly goat character, and that some skeleton character gave people a "bad time". The story and mechanics of the game were completely unknown to me. With my first and second runs, I had, what I consider, the perfect experience.

>second run

A lot of us really did only play this game once. Goatmom didn't want me to click Fight, so I never clicked Fight (until Goatdad taught me the hard way).

Mark's friend said something about maybe Flowey being at the beginning, assuming it wasn't just a contrived excuse to do what the two of them already knew to do. I talked to a lot of other monsters first, but I went all the way back- no spoilers, first time- just to know what happens when you go all the way back. I really wasn't expecting goatbro there.

Of course once he told me he really couldn't come back with me, which is what I figured he'd say, I was so fucking assrampaged I wrote a 241k-word fic and memed Trump into the White House in the process. /pol/ has Toby Fox to thank, really.

Also, finding the keys isn't really a matter of knowing where to go. There's only a handful of rooms and a handful of things to click on in each room. If you're clicking on everything, because this is an RPG and that's what you do (he clicked on potted plants, not just sinks), you really can't not go straight for the keys.

Moving away from white things is kind of what you do in this game, too.

I think he didn't actually play the game before, but he wasn't running in blind at all. He'd seen other people play it and knew what to do most of the time. He knew the plot, I can guarantee that much, because the emotional aspects of the ending more or less just rolled off him and either he knew them in advance or he isn't fucking human. I still say Mark sucks ass at bullet hell and I'd love to see him hack his save file to fight Undyne the Undying and/or Sans.

You're the kind of person who just loves watching people suffer.

Getting paid to suffer live on camera isn't really suffering, it's more like porn.

At this point, it was made abundantly clear that his "fanbase" pretty much railroaded him into playing Undertale. He literally never wanted to, hence why it took over a year for him to get around to it. He's been suffering this whole time.

At the end he says that he should have played it earlier, although I'm not sure if he actually means that.

> "Oh what is this? A mouse?" *mumbles, reading what it says on the screen* "fills you with determination." Gets loud again. "Oh god, an Undertale reference! Quick, I've gotta get away before the comment section fills up with people asking me to play that!"

Albeit probably not quite word for word, this is a thing that happened. But what I can say is that when that video happened, he obviously hadn't played it yet, because he mistook the teasing of yandere-chan's antagonist as another Undertale reference.
