It's that time of year again and as I am the BO once more, I'll be paying for the board's requests.
I know that I am very behind on raw releases, this is because I had issues with my workstation. The drive I was using for scanning died, I ran out of space on the other HDD and the SSD I was using for scratch needed to be replaced with a larger drive. I've spent about $1000 on new storage, so once I have everything set up, I can get back to my aim of doing at least three releases a week. If anyone is interested I cover what exactly went wrong and what I intend to achieve with the upgrades in the scanlation thread.
Please keep in mind what I said at C94
>For requests I recommend looking for doujin that aren't going to be picked up by other groups and will benefit from the high quality scan technique that I use. Also please remember that I don't do things quickly.
I'm also considering diversifying our output. The board staff and scanlation team aren't anywhere near being able to encode and sub anime, so I'm wondering if the board would like see us release more anime OSTs.

Even if they already have subs it's most important to get a quality, accurate translation. I don't know how bad fansubs in general get but it'd be reassuring to have BO and his scanlation team be able to do it or even just look over them and warn of particularly crappy subs.
Not that we could tell if the scanlation team was translating it properly either but let's just hope.

What's keeping you from doing encoding? It doesn't sound like too much more complicated, maybe even less so, than what you're doing already. It's understandable if no one wants to learn it if the payoff is going to be low though.

I have no idea to be honest. I've been so focused on scanlation that it's something that I haven't thought too hard about. I do know from working with TLs that have also been fansubbers that it's a hell of a lot of work. It would need to be something that our TL was interested in and wanted to see brought to a wider audience.

While I don't speak Japanese, I can only understand some basic kana, I do have years of experience working with TLs. I have complete faith in the ability of the 8/u/ TL, I would even go as far as to say that they are one of the most competent TLs I've ever worked with.
As for encoding, it's more difficult than it seems. My initial attempts were with the Incited BDs and none of this was successful. I either fucked up the audio or fucked up the picture quality. I thought that the same rules of colour space and bit depth that apply to images would apply to video. That isn't the case. The other difference is that in scanlation the cleaning and typesetting is done in a single program. In fansubbing the encoding and subbing are done in different programs, so I wouldn't just need to learn one new program. The two main encoding programs in use are ffmpeg and avisynth, with subbing being done in aegisub.

I'm going to be honest here. I think you need to skip this one out.
In the last thread >>47398 you already admitted to being behind on scanning the raws, but you promised to catch up by C95. I'm not going to fault you for anything here, but if you're still behind now and also have issues with your workstation, the prudent move is to focus on fixing the problems and catching up on the raws that you already have instead of making the queue even longer and more time-consuming to complete. I know you're trying to give off the impression that you can get back on track in a jiffy and keep the anons satisfied with the newest releases, but judging by the performance for the past year, it looks like you're counting your chickens before they're set to hatch. There are always unforeseen events that can potentially derail your progress, so don't set unrealistic goals to keep up appearances lest you end up digging an even deeper hole for yourself.
Just my two cents.

Never understand why this author is terribly underrated: He's been producing hentai yuri doujins for around 15 years with an interesting dynamic art style, but it looks like nobody has scanned any work from him scanned, ever.

I did over 50 releases in 2018, that's not too bad considering the events of this year. There has been a learning curve for me as well. While I was an experienced cleaner, the shift to being a raw provider has presented several new challenges. Over all another twenty doujin or so in the backlog isn't going make much difference.

As far as I know, it's weirder than that. The "pseudopenis" of female hyenas is not a clit but an actual vagina, as seen on your image.
