Yumi is my favorite girl from the whole Saki franchise. Her voice and her personality makes me envy Momo-su~. The way she pushes herself as a mature girl but weak to her kouhai advances is a nice detail. I kind of feel bad for her not qualifying for the individual tournament I wish she had more time to shine.
By the other hand, you clearly fucked it up when the most interesting series in your franchise is the spin-off Heterohayu. I mean Saki is currently stuck in its mahjong boat of endless tiles while Igarashi's work is steadly shaping up to the very best and featuring a girl standard sexual preferences.

I still don't like those Achiga girls that much. I mean, some normal friends struggling against a bunch of "monsters" to come to National to meet an old friend is interesting story. But suddenly the whole "remember those opponents we spend an entire series to hype up? Nah, they got beaten handily by those friends you probably forgot about and your old friends are the real monster here" just tick me off in the wrong way. And the feeling of "hey, OC donut steel here, look at how awesome they are" doesn't really help their case.

>A new Saki spin-off manga called Someya Mako's Mahjong Parlor Food has been announced. The author is Mekimeki and it will be published in the Young Gangan magazine (like Saki) starting on the 7th of June. It looks like it could be a food porn manga with some mahjong elements. The serialization of Toki by the same author will also continue. Akio Translations will probably translate the first chapter, but afterwards I'm not sure.
