GET FUCKED. No.1 had you explore an abandoned estate, a ruined castle, the city ruins, the damn carnival, an opera theater and downtown which I thought was still populated because all the doors were closes until I realized it was the wall texture.
2 has the boring academy, the frozen castle, the town and bridge which quickly become boring and the mine. More boring.
And the soundtrack? Predge and transformation tracks > whatever comes from NoA 2, except for Shiroyuri (白百合) which feels it belongs on NoA 1.
The whole reason 1 is better as it was made with a smaller team. The sound track consisted of 3 people directing. It turned out to be a hit so Koei demanded a sequel, one that lashed in development hell for about a year as Blue Reflection was being made at the same time. The end result is a clearly rushed sequel. They also had 5 - 6 people doing the music this time, which means those original imputs that gave us the good OST in No.1 are lost. The battle music is a generic rift from a Warriors game for goodness sake.

You didn't get the true end did you? You didn't see Arnice kiss Lilysee to wipe her memory and absorb the power of the Nightlord. You also didn't see the after story in which Lillysee went back only to turn around, see Arnice there and remember her. And after all the shit that happened between that was a very sweet moment.
You can kind of see why I'm a little peeved that "Oh, Arnice is back, Lillysee is nowhere to be found, new love interest for Alushe." Thankfully it didn't turn out that way.

Doesn't the game outright says anything that doesn't happen three times doesn't happen later after the dream ends? The Hurraine arc also has only two endings. And Hurraine arc is also where all the bisexuality is. It's also a joke arc in that there is no romance and unlike the other arcs in that regard.
I can't remember if Alice has three endings - she doesn't have an arc like the others but she does have multiple endings although it might only be two endings. Carmina has three endings and Louni has three endings as well. Fal has 4 endings although I think one of those doesn't count due to it revealing that it's a bunch of fa/tg/uys playing a table top game. Harem route seems most likely option post dream.

Phantom Breaker battle grounds was fun.
However as said in the OJ thread, you can't jump into co-op with a level 1 character otherwise the first boss will destroy you.
It's best to beat story mode as anyone first to get a character up to a decent level and unlock 3 of the hidden characters too.
The only things that annoyed me where times when you can't pick up every EXP gem due to enemies blocking your path to them or a cut scene starting before you can get them and those onmyoji girls spamming projectile attacks at you.

Might as well talk about ME again, played a complete playthrough around 2015 and let the series rest for awhile. Got kinda curious about a month ago and found out that 3 had extensive modding and there were a number of mods that I thought warranted time to try again and fast forward two weeks and modded ME is significantly better than vanilla ME.
ME1:
Music is excellet, set up with the universe is excellent, I don't mind the mako but going an Engineer run, I was restricted to overload, sabotage and a pistol. It sucked. Recommend you go Solider/Infiltrator/Vanguard to get a decent weapon, at least in ME1.
Mods Used:
ALOT (Collection of texture mods, can be used over all 3 games).
Faster elevators.
ME2:
Basically the side story, injects alot of humor but the overall story is weak. But the music is still good, Suicide mission, Tali's theme. Some really good story moments, like bring Legion onto the migrant fleet and freaking everyone out. Combat is cover shooter based with the thermal clips but honestly is so much better than the combat in 1.
Mods used:
ALOT of textures.
ME2 Recalibrated (lore fixes, spelling mistakes corrected)
Shorter movies, no minigames (really had enough of them in ME1).
ME3:
Combat at it's peak. Like 2 but faster and that works in it's favor. Story is a bit of a mess since Drew left Bioware after ME2 and they reuse alot of the music since Jack Wall who was lead composer in 1/2 left as well. Like so everything post Cerberus base is pretty bad. but Rannoch and Tuchanka are really good parts of the story. Character interactions and Citadel DLC really are worth a playthrough however, they went all out.
Mods Used:
Now to talk about all the mods for 3 here. Biggest being Expanded Galaxy. It really does expand the immersion of 3, you'll get intel updates on the war while some war assets will lose strength trying to fight off the reapers. There's also the evacuation of Thessia you can take part in, trying to get some asari out to bolster the war effort while some fleets do a holding action above the planet agains the reapers. You really do feel like the war is going on around you and seeing all the fleets you've gathered before you jump to earth. They even provided an urgent intel report about how the Citadel got from the widow nebula to earth. This mod is also the basis of alot of ones used in 3. Nothing but positive stuff for this. Plus the shooting range in the cargo bay is very helpful. Adds weapons, armors, able to savage the old mako at the planet that hosts the nomandy crash site. All weapons and powers from the multiplayer. Just alot of stuff.
There's ALOT for 3, used something like 50 texture mods 5 gigs in size. Boosting it up to graphics of today.
ME3Recalibrated, more lore fixes and stuff.
Backoff, alters the text to give Shepard control to flirt with love interests.
Tali full face mod is one I really like. Plus a group of russian modders added in a full sex scene for her with a mod. Can find a vid on youtube.
Better Dreams, removes the kid and replaces it with 40 second videos of some of the nightmarish stuff from 1/2. Gives more focus to Shepard.
MEHEM: Most download mod on the nexus, gets rid of star kid and simply turns it into a fight with the reapers and if you get enough EMS, Shepard survives and with the narration by Hackett, it really does feel like a good ending, uniting the races to take down a dark enemy.
And this is only the stuff I remember. Modded 3 was a joy to go through simply because it had more immersion thanks to the mods. If you're interested in some history of ME and how well it's aged, youtuber Raycevick did a "years later" series of vids on them, almost 3 hours in length total and looks at the production, how the games play and how it's seen today.
Oh and this is /u/ related because Liara is still best love interest. Main one in 1, content with shadow broker in 2, main one in 3. Can't resist that blue ass
Remember, don't play Andromeda.
It should also be noted that 4/u/ has had thread after thread about the Cyberpunk 2077 reveal. I like it and it'll absorb some weeks of my life but I want to actually play it before I comment on it.

Yeah I always do a soldier run first playthrough on ME1 just so I can have my choice of Assault Rifle, Shotgun, or Sniper Rifle skills for all the other classes. I find it's best to not get any licenses until the late game ones appears and just make do with Hahne Kedar armor on every character but Tali. For guns just make do with what you can find until the Spectre stuff unlocks. It's hard to find the mid range biotic amps and omni tools and in a way you are best off just waiting for the Serrice Council brands to unlock later. The armali council ones simply aren't available for purchase outside of Virmire even with the license and it's just not worth getting the Ariake license to clutter up the Normandy Req Officer's selection of gear for only a mid tier omni tool and bio amp. They are good though if you can find them in a crate.
Wrex is actually the worst squadmate in ME1 due to the fact that he sometimes will only use a pistol and won't even fire it due to modeling issues - I wish there was a mod to fix this. Means as a combat character he is only useful as a wall and Ashley does that better than he does and shoots all guns better than he does. He doesn't have first aid and lacks any of the CC of the biotics. He just has Immunity, Barrier, and Warp. Ashley's Adrenaline Rush + Immunity Combo is far better since it also allows her to hit 29% weapon damage with all guns vs Wrex's max of 20% on Assault Rifles and Shotguns.
Garrus is a magikarp who starts weak and ends incredibly strong thanks to Adrenaline Rush, his Class Skill, and all the tech and attacking skills. Even gets Medium Armor later to help with his defenses. Master Adrenaline Rush + Class Skill lets him get the highest weapon damage in the game barring Shepard (even beats weaker versions of Shepard in terms of damage bonus) on Assault Rifles and Snipers at 38% each. His sniping is pretty much aim bot tier once you get him a Spectre sniper rifle. He is even good with Pistols and Shotguns due to Adrenaline Rush and his Class skill providing passive weapon damage and accuracy.
Tali starts strong due to her passive shields bonus - mid game has armor issues but makes up for it with AI hack being absolutely amazing in ME1 and then ends strong when she gets Colossus armor late game. She has super good cooldowns due to AI Hack as well. Pistols Shotgun mastery is also a great combo in ME1 since that covers nearly all ranges.
Liara's biggest issue is lack of actual gun stats making her as bad as Wrex - but at least she always fires her guns. Not much of a difference between her and Kaiden outside of trading Singularity and Warp for Neurotoxin and Sabotage. Both do a lot of the same stuff. Both are good.
Ashley is nearly invincible and good from beginning to end. Don't like her much as a character but she does have that going for her.
Really it's just don't use Wrex with ME1. He seems better than he is but that glitch on him is absolutely killer. Do you have any idea how to fix that?

If you have Pinnacle Station, you get access to a flat. In that you get 3 choices for convoy runs and by paying 225k you get a random X level weapon. So you can save scum the all the amps and omni tools you want.How I got master specter gear before finishing the game by selling everything.

I had the exact same damn problem using Wrex in the Armex Arena in ME3, he'd just stand around not targeting enemies while they rained down death upon me. Should probably have used Tali more but as an engineer, I didn't really need her for that run. But I had noticed it with with him.
Glitch can be fixed by closing and restarting the game I think.

If you don't have pinnacle station in the PC version there is a crate with infinite loot available on one of the quests after you beat Feros. It spawns Colossus/Armax Arsenal gear in addition to Serrice Council Bio Amps and Omni Tools at high levels iirc.
You can also find Kassa Fabrications (Colossus armor) gear at the C-Sec Requisitions Officer on the Citadel. Delan in the Presidium has Serrice Council Bio-amps and Omni Tools in addition to sometimes selling Quarian Colossus and the Rare Turian Phantom armor for Garrus which is the best for him. Morlan also sometimes sells Geth Armory gear (Krogan Geth Armory Armor is the best armor for Wrex period - has nearly the raw armor of Colossus whilst having the Shields and Bio Protection of Armax Arsenal) and Expat has Armax Arsenal (which is kind of a trap tbh - better armor is better than more shields and bio/omni protection).

Was lucky to find battlemaster armor for Wrex in my first playthrough. Mostly relied on predator and scorpion armor after that.
The glitch might be a range thing, bots will change to a sniper for long range but when up close will switch to the highest damaging weapon, which is the pistol if you've got a stiletto VI over a Shotgun V. That or it's just a bug in the programming, haven't found a mod that fixes that. Had the black box bug on Noveria and Ilos so it's still a bit buggy.

Funny, a jap on pixiv I follow was talking about how the new Shining games are shit a few months ago.
I looked it up and it seems to be one of those strange games where you can run around as whoever you set as your party leader but you have to play as the generic MC in towns like in FF12. I know they figured out a way to get past that for FF12 PC with the use of a mod tool in combination with Cheat engine It even swaps voices too because for some reason battle voices an all that are packed in the same files with character models, but seems like modding interest for that game is low. The best I found was a cheat engine table with a party editor that should let you edit out the MC from your party, but that's not going to fix him appearing in cutscenes and being the guy you walk around towns as.
Why don't JRPG devs don't like letting us walk around as cute girls in general? I remember the Tales of series and Xenosaga let you wander around as who ever you want, but most of the time they force us to play as someone we hate. They don't even let you romance who want to get with too, normally it's just some shitty generic highschool age girl with nothing special about her, at least .hack//G.U. let you make the MC man up and get with Pai.

Dialogue is identical in playthroughs as the feMC as they are to playing as the guy, making it so that everyone is gay as fuck for when you play as a girl. Though that might have been intentional since there's a part when a girl hides you from a soon-to-be villianess, and then when questioning your friend she says something like "Are you hiding your boyfriend from me?….Or is it actually your girlfriend?"
>Fate/Extra
Only played the first one, but same as above, hell the feMC even calls other girls cute and beautiful in her internal dialogue. But it's all uncanon, even every choice you can make in the first game has been made uncanon.
At one point you get a choice between 2 girls to save, that girl becomes your "support character" for the rest of the playthough, but the new canon story instead has both of those girls dying and Tamamo randomly appearing and becoming the support character instead. Also everytime it gets adapted into something, the male MC is always the protagonist instead.
>Persona 3 Portable
Yeah no, you only become friends with them, but I will admit that them creating new characters for the FeMC to befriend instead of having her getting with the ones the male MC does was pretty nice.

That's something I still need to play, but yes this also has canon yuri too since one of the playable characters is a girl who wants to marry as many princesses as possible.

As someone who unironically enjoys all three games I have a crippling love of grappling hooks FUCK no. All three games are poorly written, and the only good part of any of the stories is Lara's visible decline from "mostly normal college girl" to THIS FUCKING PICTURE, THIS ONE RIGHT HERE, THIS IS THE GOOD SHIT. Sam is written out in a side comic with terrible art written by Gail Simone, the woman who ruins everything she even considers touching. Ideally you'll max out plumage (since it carries over, leading to a very quick early game in gen 2 and getting gen 1 materials in gen 2 is a bit annoying) and get Rain and Ciela's mom to a good level in various jobs since Ciela can inherit skills from them.
You'll also want to grab all upgrades that require affection in gen 1 since you can't get them in gen 2 (though they're useless). Quickest way to do that is go to an area with enemies that drop gift items when killed by the element they are strong to, then spam the maiden's special attacks at them (which raises affection itself) and give them the gifts. Before you go to fight the final boss of gen 1, stock up on status cure items since he uses some actually dangerous ones.
