Problem is when you start having half a dozen threads dedicated to non-Japanese Asian shit like 4/u/ does. Not sure about the other Asian countries, but South Korea, the most popular on 4/u/, tends to be heavily Westernized in both artstyle and content, so the GL webcomics there are much closer to Western LGBT than Japanese yuri. Also, Western feminism has been gaining ground in South Korea, with the previous presidency essentially being controlled by a cult that passed several Sweden-style feminist legislations with stiff penalties. It's even known that the top brass and leading artists of Lezhin, 4/u/'s favorite Korean webcomic provider, have ties with radical feminist site Megalia.

Ancient mongrelization and millennia-long rape from the Mongols and Jurchens primarily set the stage for what we know as the Chinese now. More recently in history, the Qing Dynasty seems to have been what has hammered in the last nails in China's coffin. The Qing Dynasty were established by a Manchu clan who took the throne and were legitimatized. Why would a Manchu be legitimized as the rulers of the Chinese? It was due to the ancient Chinese practice of the Mandate of Heaven (which the Japanese omitted from their own Imperial right, the ancient Yamato claiming that their Imperial Emperor's rule came from Jimmu-tenno's divine descent from Amaterasu, not from any mandate), which stated that whomever took the Chinese Throne was destined to take it, with that itself proof of the ruler's right. Thus the Qing were fully legitimate, despite not being Han.

With the Qing, there were events such as the Taiping Rebellion and the Boxer Rebellion, where the Chinese rebelled against their Manchu overlords, and were obliterated at each turn (with the international community making a cameo during the Boxer Rebellion to rub salt in the wound). And these rebellions were so over-the-top and insane in the body count. For example, the common estimate of the Taiping Rebellion's death toll is 20–30 million dead. Not to forget foreign nations humiliating China, such as the Anglo's Opium Wars, and the Japanese sending their treaties to fit in with Europe.

These events, coupled of course with other miscellaneous things, like the Qing forcing ethnic Han citizens to have the queue slave-haircut in their own de jure homeland. And with the filing out of the Qing, came the Century of Humiliation (百年国耻). Then the Communist Party, with Mao - but at that point, it's just kicking the head of a bloated corpse. We all know about the famines and genocides, but when you take in account what happened centuries before the Great Famine, then what?

Some say the century of humiliation ended with WWII, it obviously didn't, and I even I believe it didn't start with the Qing: and China's humiliation lasted much longer than just a century. All in all, the Chinese have been given a very shitty hand since thousands of years before even the Common Era. Unlike the Russians, however, the Chinese never came back from extreme hardship - each time they lost, they lost something more. The Rus' survived and bounced back from their brutal run-ins with the Mongols and Turkics, yet the Chinese were transformed into something sinister by their constant misfourtune.

However, you have to look at the facts and take in account the Chinese's actions: many of these things could have been avoided, if not for Chinese incompetence or failures, like the commonplace vices of greed and cowardice. The Qing took power due in part to extreme imperial corruption in Chinese bureaucracy, for example. The Yellow Turban Rebellion (Chinese against Chinese for the record) was a legitimate revolt against, once again, imperial corruption and incompetence, this time in the Han Dynasty: but they were crushed, just for the Han Empire to last a few years more in their vile blood-soaked indulgence. Etc etc.

China's short-comings didn't just come from foreign bullies from the outside, their internal corruption brought them to their inevitable downfall just as quick and efficiently as the horse-riding Jurchens and Mongols had. Millenniums of humiliation mindbroke the Chinese into a soulless insectoid race of insane violent alien pseudo-humans. Then again it's not that uncommon a story for a nation or people, in our postmodern society. Most all peoples and nations today are mere shadows of their former selves. It's just that the Chinese seemed to really overdid it, due to a coupling of bad luck and ineptitude.

Literally Kuomintang propaganda. If the Manchus were so bad, why did China literally double in population, permanently quell the steppe barbarians that plagued it for 2 millennia, and reach its maximum territorial extent under their rule? No, the decline started with the Caesarist Qin Dynasty and the state Confucianism under the Han, after which Chinese culture ceased to develop and virtually all cultural and scientific "advancements" were either improvements of Spring and Autumn discoveries or foreign borrowings. By that point, so much of China's population became urbanized that it became formless and deracinated, therefore disconnected from the organic roots of Chinese culture and essentially soulless from the historical point of view. Even the peasantry got so exposed by the dead form of Chinese culture that they became ahistorical as well. At that point, it become beneficial, even necessary, for barbarian races like Mongols and Manchus who are unburdened by dead cultures to take power and inject occasional bouts of vibrancy into Chinese civilization. Who knows what heights China would have been able to reach had the Yamato races been able to conquer and mobilize it once more.
