This raven image was posted on /b/, /general/, /r9k/, /pol/ and probably some other boards here.

It was also posted on 4/pol/ and probably some other boards there too, I didn't care to check.

68 74 74 70 3a 2f 2f 62 69 74 2e 6c 79 2f 32 51 4c 6f 55 39 61

This is hex code. When converted to ASCII you get:

http://bit ly/2QLoU9a

Which, when unshortened, leads to:

https://anonfile.com/s9C5x6nbb2/Alpha18_4_txt

If you're too bitch to download the txt, it's "The Raven" by Edgar Allen Poe. Here it is on pastebin:

https://pastebin.com/DFjR3CZa

The image, when downloaded will reveal more URLs if the file extension is changed to .txt. These links which lead to more text files are in at the bottom of the file (Pastebin included if you don't want to download):

Each of those links contain other text files, pastebins of the files are here if you don't want to dl:

Gripp.txt: https://pastebin.com/tfiGNzUv

Harris.txt: https://pastebin.com/NZXdd0Lc

Rocky.txt: https://pastebin.com/0gHqcAeu

The Final.txt: https://pastebin.com/VBweLygt

(Side note: A Faggit user was found with a similar name and a single post referencing this puzzle):

https://www.reddit.com/r/Raven1907/comments/a5fls9/welcome/

Welcome

The Chief Beefeater is in need of your assistance. You must seek the seven ravens and collect each of the key (given to you by the ravens) as proof of your encounter with them. The seven keys combined (with all letters in lowercase and without a space between them) would give you the pass.

"Chief Beefeater" is a reference to this:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yeomen_Warders#Ravenmaster

Anyways, in "The Final.txt" another Hex code is found:

68 74 74 70 3a 2f 2f 62 69 74 2e 6c 79 2f 32 51 4a 49 6a 72 33

Which translates to:

http://bit ly/2QJIjr3

Which leads to:

https://anonfile.com/s6D3x6nab6/From_one_Crown_to_Another_rar

The archive is password protected. The riddle basically says calls for a perfect totient number which consists of the smallest magic square which uses only 1 and prime numbers. Literally 111.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/111_(number)

The words for each piece can be wiki'd so it's actually pretty easy. Once you have that, follow the instructions from the txt files and string it all together for the password:

111euler111gripp111harris111jubilee111harshad111roentgenium111thegreatbear

Inside the archive is pic related ("From_one_Crown_to_Another.jpg"). Download and change the extension to .txt, and you'll find this at the bottom:

26.9131 N, 89.0836 E

dec 17

livre: 9780906026557, 9789812611895, 9780906026328, 9781932476217

Here's the link to the coordinates (Samtse, Bhutan):

https://www.google.com/maps/place/26%C2%B054'47.2%22N+89%C2%B005'01.0%22E/@26.9131111,89.0814224,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0x0!8m2!3d26.9131!4d89.0836

December 17th is "National Day" in Bhutan.

If you look up the "livre" numbers as ISBN, you get this:

http://www.bookfinder4u.com/IsbnSearch.aspx?isbn=9780906026557&mode=direct

The Raven Crown: The Origins of Buddhist Monarchy in Bhutan By: Michael Aris again with a different publisher

Seems pretty gay so far.

Well, at this point, anons have been reaching out to the Faggit user (Seems to be the GM)

See pic related ("notcap121.png")

Raven1907 edited his post and added this:

For those that have made thus far. You'll have to wait for a few days.

Oh and here's something of a reward i guess. Courtesy:Shodan

Clicking the URL Raven1907 posted leads to an FTP serever:

ftp://220.158.236.187/

I haven't looked through all of it but it just seems to be a bunch of warez. Kinda stupid. See third image posted ("ftp_server.png")

That's about all there is to it so far. If you want a distraction, and want to help them solve whatever it is, go shit up their threads:

I really don't see where this is going to be going, like we just have coordinates not a url that might be updated later unless we missed something. I really don't think he expects us to go to Bhutan. Maybe he could post more puzzles in a new thread, but that would make all the previous stuff pointless.

It still may be necessary to translate the words on the peacock pic, but I'm guessing it just translates to "national day" or something like that.

Could try it, but I don't think that user is intended to be a part of it. Could be his personal account that he overlooked, or could even be that he asked some random user to create and switch ownership over to him because Reddit requires an account to be 30 days old in order to create a subreddit.

simpler conversion to ascii, without any per-character-for-loop required:
echo "4f 3f"|tr -d ' '|xxd -r -p;echo
where "4f 3f" is the hex you want to convert.
It will strip any spaces (tr -d ' ')
Then plain dump the reversed hex (xxd -r -p)

So the Raven image was me sperging out.

I didn't save the image due to flaky internet, and it saved a webpage instead, so when uploading it generated an error.

The base 64 portions decode to the plain text, so no hidden info, and the emails are as they are.

there's some binary further down, but internet is too flaky to continue

Also Reddit has seen it posted on 4chan /b/ at some point

https://www.reddit.com/r/codes/comments/a783ju/found_over_on_4chans_b_some_sort_of_multilayered/

>Modern understanding of the festival is pieced together from several accounts dealing with various aspects.[7] The Saturnalia was the dramatic setting of the multivolume work of that name by Macrobius, a Latin writer from late antiquity who is the major source for information about the holiday. In one of the interpretations in Macrobius's work, Saturnalia is a festival of light leading to the winter solstice, with the abundant presence of candles symbolizing the quest for knowledge and truth.[8] The renewal of light and the coming of the new year was celebrated in the later Roman Empire at the Dies Natalis Solis Invicti, the "Birthday of the Unconquerable Sun", on 23 December.

TL;DR we have a public PGP key (with 2 signatures), PGP encrypted data and need a key.

Any ideas?

I'm here at the moment: https://www.dcode.fr/eye-horus-wedjat

gpg: 2 good signatures

What does `sig!3' mean in the output of `gpg –check-sigs'?

>3 means you did extensive verification of the key. For

example, this could mean that you verified the key fingerprint with the owner

of the key in person, and that you checked, by means of a hard to forge

document with a photo ID (such as a passport) that the name of the key

owner matches the name in the user ID on the key, and finally that you

verified (by exchange of email) that the email address on the key belongs to

the key owner.

https://lists.gnupg.org/pipermail/gnupg-users/2004-July/022910.html

It's a self-determined check level.

So from the twitter page there are two images:

the left facing raven has the following hex codes:

(which seems to be linked to 4chan???)

and

61 6d 6d 69 6c 3a 2f 2f 74 67 68 67 79 62 65 78 6c 2e 76 68 66 2f 41 78 65 33 48 36 67 78 75 78 2f 31 38 32 31 31 39 5f 7a 69 7a

rot 07: https://anonfiles.com/Hel3O6nebe/182119_gpg

the right facing raven has the following two codes:

I think there are physical QR codes located at those sites, as in the IMG photo in >>39252 that has a QRcode posted on the lighthouse.

The Russian one has

$cat Kutkh.txt
53.518123, 49.272006
front

so it is definitely an operator with reach to those physical locations.

Too poor to travel, unless virtually.

thanks anon. I was getting no connection error.

Firefox I know it's bad but all browsers are at the moment is censoring.

I tried TOR and reached the node.

So there is a rar file downloaded from the QR decoded URL:
https:''//''anonfile.com/7bL3A3n8b7/9780140179972_rar
Likely created on a Windows OS = company / organization we're dealing with. Anyone doing this from home would be using a *nix OS.

$file 97*
9780140179972.rar: RAR archive data, v4, os: Win32 <-the RAR archive file downloaded.
9780140179972.txt: RAR archive data, v4, os: Win32 <-the extracted RAR contents
9780140179972.txt.sig: data <-the extracted RAR contents

So there are 2 files inside the RAR. One is also a RAR archive. The other is a binary file.

An interesting aside, a search for the ISBN 9780140179972 gives the book https://www.abebooks.com/9780140179972/G%C3%B6del-Escher-Bach-Eternal-Golden-0140179976/plp

Gödel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid (Penguin Philosophy)

Douglas R. Hofstadter

>Douglas Hofstadter's book is concerned directly with the nature of maps” or links between formal systems. However, according to Hofstadter, the formal system that underlies all mental activity transcends the system that supports it. If life can grow out of the formal chemical substrate of the cell, if consciousness can emerge out of a formal system of firing neurons, then so too will computers attain human intelligence. Gödel Escher and Bach is a wonderful exploration of fascinating ideas at the heart of cognitive science: meaning, reduction, recursion, and much more

> Review:

>Everything is a symbol, and symbols can combine to form patterns. Patterns are beautiful and revelatory of larger truths. These are the central ideas in the thinking of Kurt Gödel, M.C. Escher, and Johann Sebastian Bach, perhaps the three greatest minds of the past quarter-millennium. In a stunning work of humanism, Hofstadter ties together the work of mathematician Gödel, graphic artist Escher, and composer Bach.

>Gödel, Escher, Bach, a Pulitzer prize-winning treatise on genius, explores the workings of brilliant people's brains with the help of historical examples and brainteaser puzzles. Not for the dim or the lazy, this book shows you, more clearly than most any other, what it means to see symbols and patterns where others see only the universe. Touching on math, computers, literature, music, and artificial intelligence, Gödel, Escher, Bach is a challenging and potentially life-changing piece of writing.

>From the Inside Flap:

>Winner of the Pulitzer Prize, this book applies Godel's seminal contribution to modern mathematics to the study of the human mind and the development of artificial intelligence.

>"About this title" may belong to another edition of this title.

Suggests we're a long way from Tandin now, possibly a state actor, or corporate looking for math/tech bodies.

$for i in `cat unrarpasswords` ;do echo ">>>>Testing $i"; unrar x -p$i 9780140179972.txt && echo "Success!" && break;done
which will try each password in turn and stop if successful.

So the data file "9780140179972.txt.sig" in the downloaded RAR is a OpenPGP signature, confirming the file was from Raven:
$gpg --verify 9780140179972.txt.sig
gpg: assuming signed data in '9780140179972.txt'
gpg: Signature made Fri 14 Dec 2018 09:41:46 AM GMT
gpg: using RSA key F62AA7ABAF67DF84FEAE46AECA60B8708A425CB1
gpg: Good signature from "Raven" [unknown]
gpg: WARNING: This key is not certified with a trusted signature!
gpg: There is no indication that the signature belongs to the owner.
Primary key fingerprint: F62A A7AB AF67 DF84 FEAE 46AE CA60 B870 8A42 5CB1

I'd set a cracker to run on the RAR, but I suspect Raven chose a key longer than 7chars, so don't have a lifetime to crack it.

Regarding the Huginn and Muninn text file:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huginn_and_Muninn

>In Norse mythology, Huginn (from Old Norse "thought"[1]) and Muninn (Old Norse "memory"[2] or "mind"[3]) are a pair of ravens that fly all over the world, Midgard, and bring information to the god Odin

>a pair of ravens that fly all over the world

We have two ravens that look to the left and right, that lead to locations all over the world, and are in flight.

Huginn & Muninn, the duality of the mind, thought and memory, smart & passionate, mind and machine.

I've run some more passwords without success.

If it's another ISBN, then looking at the pattern space for ISBNs I'd need to test 1x10^10 possibles @ approx. 28sec /1x10^3 (after a quick test on a 1000 for a timing estimate) = 231days. oh fug.

Current version of the password tester minimizes terminal output and only reports if successful
