I have a question, does TempleOS have a fullscreen mode, and is it possible to change the 16 color palette? I am curious about making games.

VMware starting with version 11, no longer supports full screen for 640x480. You can adjust the host operating system display to 800x600, before running VMware.

QEMU supports full screen for me. QEMU is the only that support sound. Version 8.0 of VMware was the last to support PC Speaker.

QEMU disk speed is about one third as fast as VMware, however.

Yes you can change palette colors. I think it will work. I try not to do it, but it's okay if you do. For one thing it ruins display of mutliple windows.

I mean inside the OS itself, it looks like all the games have window decoration. Is it possible to paint over the entire 640x480 without window decoration?

Thanks for the answer, I played around with TempleOS last night. I would really like to see a Youtube video of you creating a simple graphic inside the text file, from nothing, and then moving it around onscreen. I am going to keep learning on my own though, I just thought it might be helpful.

Thanks for all your great stuff.

Terry, what's stopping you from writing a RedSea FS for Windows and Linux? That way you could remove the Fat32 code from the temple and instead read/write to a native ReaSea partition.

Is it even possible to mainline this in Linux? Redsea files have fixed size so it can't easily facilitate normal operations like appending, unless you write in on the fly defrag or something I guess.

Hey Terry, I'm wondering something : you said numerous time that you talk with God via a software picking randomly words on the Bible, because the random is the way God speaks to us.

But I've been taught that computers can't generate true numbers, at best they use well programmed pseudo random generator.
It's an issue in some fields such as cryptography because pseudo random numbers can be predictable, and that's why some people developed true random generator devices (I remember one of them was bases on a Geiger counter to generate the numbers by measuring ambient radioactivity which is random by it's own nature).

My question is : if you only use a pseudo random generator (which is the case in 99.9999% of computers), how can you affirm that it's God's will instead of a mathematical result ?

Actually, just found out: it works fine when using only one core. Also, your OS doesn't really let the CPU idle, does it? My laptop fan is spinning permanently (although not too bad) when TempleOS is running.

My other wisest tip is that naming of functions and variable is one of the most important skills.

When it comes to naming things, at some point you will invent something brand-new. At that point, you should invent a brand new name because it no longer qualifies as the same sort of item that already exists.

I called my filesystem "Native" for a long time, then picked an off-the-wall name, "RedSea". Marketing is a fascinating field. Don't under-rate what marketeers do when they pick names that work in many countries. I named my C-language "C+" at first and finally came-up with "HolyC".

http://www.templeos.org/Wb/Doc/HolyC.html

HolyC is not very modern. You will use one language at work that is nasty and modern; at play, you can use HolyC and dodge the nagging-preaching computer people.

By modern, I mean with lots of compile-time checking… rigid type checking with "const" and all that.

In theory, type checking prevents bugs early. I find it an annoying pain in the ass.

There is no cruft in HolyC.

Integers are U0,I0,I8,U8,I16,U16,I32,U32,I64,U64.

You don't need to do big constants with a "l".

Why doesn't TempleOS support higher resolutions? I've read somewhere that you did it on purpose. But I found no real explanation.

The truth is you understand not a word of the Bible. You have no clue about living materially and living spiritually. You think you know God. Jesus said, "nobody knows the father." If God has not talked to you, you do not know him. Just the same as you do not know wnay person who has not talked to you. Jesus said "Many will say 'let me in'. I will say 'I do not know you."

the kingdom of God is a banquet. Nobody wants to attend. The guy gets angry and grabs people off of the street.

You have an opportunity to know God with random oracles.

You have no idea that you're not invited and the Bible is not for you.
