they were numerous as fuck tho thanks to being clone wars surplus, were easy to modify thanks to having so much space, had built in hyperdrive allowing it to perform hit and run attacks (which was great for rebelion since they didnt have enough capital ships to afford fighters without it and offers more mobility in general)
and they tried with b-wing (which were fucked in different ways, like being too damn expensive and having completly retarded cockpit) and later with k-wing (which was surprisingly good design but still expensive as fuck. then again, at this point new republic could afford it. it even got expended version with two cockpits resembling i4 Ionizer)

> thanks to being clone wars surplu
The clone wars Y-Wing was a different, earlier ship (though the Clone Wars one probably did show up in rebel hands). Y-Wings were so common during the GSW because they were commonly sold to planetary security forces. There they either had sympathizers leave them unguarded to be "stolen" by Rebel agents or were outright brought along by defectors from them. These defectors and sympathizers were common because the Empire tried to absorb many planetary security organizations into the military and people who signed up to defend their home generally didn't want to die claiming some outer-rim bog for the Empire. This is the same reason the alliance has that helmet and vest uniform plus their "standard" small arms, as those were common PSF equipment. Also Koensayr needed buyers badly enough they simply didn't give a fuck about verifying documents so any rebel cell with money could buy them.
Y-Wing seems actually pretty well suited for the official role of planetary security. The vulnerability to fighters isn't much a problem against pirates who aren't really scrambling fighters (the primary role of a fighter is defeating fighters and bombers.) and, if they are, will be using massively dated ones (At best they'd be using Z-95s, but more likely cloakshapes, daggers and uglies). Pirates primarily use mid-size vessels in SW, (cruisers, frigates and corvettes, plus some light freighters), which a bomber does well against. The disabling utility of ion cannons is obvious in a security agency. Hyperdrive extends range to a system over a planet and the two-seating makes it capable of ferrying lower level officials.

HookTube embed. Click on thumbnail to play. Well fuck. I mean, its nice that he's dissing Kennedy, Disney, feminists and SJWs, his overwhelming praise of Ahsoka's return and the reaction by the majority is just disallusioning. I mean, that was the laziest way you could bring someone back at the last minute. It was fucking terrible and she was probably only brought back because Kennedy wanted her back. Her original death was the perfect end for the character (for the most part), but then they just retcon it with time travel bullshit, and not even the one most commonly used in the old EU like "thrust forward in time" through means like being frozen, a spatial/temporal anomaly like wormholes or something, instead Aladdin literally finds an anus in time and plucks Ahsoka right out of there, even the whole fucking moral of the episode is that you shouldn't change the past, which is redundant in itself since that's exactly what Kennedy and Disney want to do. And people are actually celebrating this poor performance? Also does this guy not understand that this reaction is exactly what Kennedy wants and will only make her actions feel justified? Fuck.

That was more shameful than one Jar Jar defeated Grievous. At least there he was outnumbered by numerous skilled Gungan warriors, not just Jar Jar, yet Ahsoka went in and owned his ass despite his many jedi kills, but they even retconned that by saying that he beat said jedis through cheating, outnumbering them, or using other dirty tactics or stealing them from dead bodies. Its like CW went out of its way to shit on Grievous as much as possible.

To be fair, the Owl, ie, litteral force god, is basically giving her favor. I think it "owned her a solid" or something. Divine intervention is out right saying it wants her to live. In a way its kind of cute the writer is basically being up front about it.
Still the Owl didn't seem to give a hoot. Ezra had no reason not to save his master. Force god owl basically gave him the ok.

I thought the Owl was the Daughter reborn. It even shares her color scheme. Also, despite all the people who would complain that George was limiting CW's writing and kept the good EU stuff out while keeping Feloni on a leash, I think that actually might've been for the better. I mean George did somewhat loosen the leash a bit which was good, but the presence of the leash I think is what kept Feloni from doing anything stupid. In Rebels, he was allowed to go all out in the second half of it, and all the characters ended up being the most important people ever just because and all the good EU bits ended up being tarnished or outright shat on. Even Thrawn's second in command got a namedrop so (((new writers))) would make stories around him (said Feloni), and obviously this will just result in typical Marvel or Wendig faggotry. If anything George's presence was a necessity, and even the irregularities he presented were easy to mend or even retcon, as George was willing to retcon even his own material so he wasn't completely unbending, but with Feloni, its like dealing Power Level bullshit, he just keeps trying to go higher and higher.

More or less, but still the closet thing to a god around. If anyone had the "authority" to do shit like that, it would be hooty.
The owl was pretty much looking the other way sayin "who?", pretty much giving Ezra a freebe. I know what the "heart" of the message that the writer was trying to say in that scene, but the "brain" ie, logically, just pull Space Wolf Jedi at the right time and you wouldn't have to worry about getting yourself killed, everyone would assume he disintegrated, and him and Super Soaker, could just brush off the charred parts of hot dog. Its a real mixed message here when they have Ezra save one person but not another by saying you can't change the pass. I guess maybe they also want to say that "IS" what happen to Ahsoka. She always got pulled forward in time.

So basically, stable time loop. I guess if done correctly, you could create a situation where the person always attempted to do the "force time pull". Which would solve the "the very first time" problem that people bring up. From Ezra's perspective, if he could have somehow watch the Vader vs Ahsoka fight, he would have seen his "scout trooper" arm pull her through the black mist thingy. I was under the assumption she was placed back in the same place she got pulled, but now at the same time Ezra went into time void temple place. I don't know what it was called.
Maybe they'll go full ham with the idea and make multi-verse a thing, and Legends time line and nu-time line go back and forth with each other, but nu time line has no redeeming features.

So you could theoretically change any past event you want as long as doing so wouldn't retroactively prevent you from being able to make that change. This of course ignores the idea that any change you make will result in you not needing to change anything, meaning nothing ever gets changed. There is a way out of that though, which is if things could theoretically have gone differently without future intervention. But if you impose that limitation, Ahsoka can't have come back because there's no way she could beat or even escape Vader. Any way you slice it, something is changing the past. It's only a question of how much.

>dumbing down seen in the last three films, coupled with the juvenile humor, is for adults?
I will admit that dumbing shit down and amping the potty humor is a plausible outcome of designing a movie "for kids" by committee. But it's certainly not exclusive to content marketed towards children. Look at Legend of Whorra, for instance. It's supposed to be the "mature" sequel to Avatar. But it's got more fart jokes, the characters are hideously Flanderized and undeveloped, and the writing direction manages to be simultaneously bland and schizophrenic. Avatar, despite being the series marketed to adolescents, is miles ahead of its successor in characterization, writing quality, and pretty much every respect besides some of the finer points of the technical side.
Getting back to Star Wars, I'll have to agree with the other guy here, especially with regards to TLJ. Purple-haired lesbian admirals, Rey force-sexting a shirtless Goth Vader, Rose's "if you fight your enemies they win", and cringy meme lines like
>you were always scum
<rebel scum xD
all of that shit is aimed squarely at fully-grown in body at least. DEFINITELY full-grown in body hipsters and millennials. Besides that blatant product placement in the closing scene and maybe the porgs (although from how readily the millennial shitstains are eating those up too I have to wonder), TLJ doesn't appear to me as something aimed towards children. TFA has the potential to be kid-friendly, but not because it was designed that way. Because Abrams designed TFA as a flaired-up copy of ANH in order to sell tickets to nostalgia fueled adults, it happens to marketable to kids, but not by design, just as a by-product of ANH being marketable to kids. But the underage crowd isn't what JJ was chasing unlike everyone else in Hollywood.

Shippers I think are some of the biggest tumors plaguing "fandoms", and its fitting that so many of them converted into SJWs when they realized they could use said ideologies to make their OTPs come true. They don't give two shits about anything other than shipping. The most cringiest content you can find comes from shippers. Korra was a huge retard magnet for shippers since the first Avatar series went out of its way to tease them a lot and even feature their shitty fanarts at comic cons. Also, Korra definitely is a good comparison for what's happening to SW. It has many parallels. Mary Sue faggotry, virtue signalling, pander to idiots who never were 100% invested in the franchise, shamelessly killing off the old heroes to make way for the new, fuck with the lore and setting simply because they can (they even fucking destroyed Aang's soul. He didn't even get a chance to have his own Roku moments, and Toph was just a lazy slut), and then completely revamp the show to the point where it no longer has any real connection to the old show other than superficial name drops, nostalgia memes and references, but is pretty much something completely different at its core because they lacked the creativity or daring to make something new. Some say they got rid of the "Avatar" name either to match with the M. Night "Last Airbender" movies or because they didn't want to cause confusion with the Avatar movies about blue space cats, but the truth was probably that they wanted to disconnect themselves from the past as much as they could without completely alienating viewers. I'm sorry if I'm not making much sense, but I'm too fucking tired to try and make any sense. Good fucking night.

No, you're quite coherent and your points make sense. Konietzko and DiMartino in all likelihood did all that intentionally, because they didn't actually have that much influence on the old show beyond the initial pitch and wanted something OC donut steel to prove their worth as writers kek. And that's why they went out of their way to kill anything that directly connected Whorra to AtLA, and shoehorn their shitty Prohibition fetish into a setting based in ancient not-Asia. Incidentally, the one episode of AtLA where those two had the most influence is the pilot. And that's the episode with the most toilet humor, and has Aang and Iroh acting out of character in a few scenes.

The PT would honestly not even get much hate if it had a better editor. Otherwise, idiots wouldn't have memed it into such a source of hate and RLM wouldn't have become successes. A few minutes of unnecessary footage removed would've made all the difference, but then again, something tells me that still wouldn't be enough for the idiots. Still, I wonder, if not for the PT, would RLM have faded into obscurity by now? I still remember when I didn't want to watch Suicide Squad but my co-workers kept egging me to see it, so I looked for any random quick youtube review to get at least a brief understanding of it. To my misfortune, I picked RLM, and half of it was them bitching about how Harley got a fucking cellphone. Went to work with that and it turns out RLM were wrong on every single turn and then even made an apology video after that. These hacks probably spend half the movie jerking each other of with their exceptional intellect rather than actually analyzing a film in detail.

The PT had problems and had a large amount of criticism heaped on it before the Plinkett reviews.
I think overall the PT had a lot of potential but this potential was not completely realized in the trilogy. That being said the PT definitely has some good parts, the overall story is solid, the characters were mainly good, they very imaginative, and expanded the universe.
The PT and does not deserve the hate it gets more so now after we see what the bottom of the barrel actually looks like. Every Disney SW movie to date all feature poorly ripped off storylines, imagery, etc. cloaked in sjw politics. For RLM to continue to beat the PT dead horse after far worse hack films were released by Disney is disingenuous, disgusting, and hypocritical especially since they now decide to go after fan’s criticisms in defense of the Disney Corporation. I said it before and elsewhere and I’ll say it here the very last time RLM was good was before all the chicks left, I guess they were the rats leaving the sinking ship or the cannery in the coal mine.

Absolutely agreed. But I think the PT would be vastly improved with just some editing and having a few scenes altered, such as the questionable "humor" of Jar Jar while on Tatooine (his comical scenes on Naboo are actually somewhat good) and the ending and pacing of III. II just feels like it needed better directing and writing, and Hayden is honestly not a bad actor, George just wanted him to act that way for some reason.

I dislike this modern mentality going around that Disney's SW is only bad because of the political agenda and that without them the movies would be so much better. The political agenda is bad, but its not the only flaw with new SW. The writing, acting, directing and expanded media are all terrible and they don't even bother to give a shit about older fans and the lore they grew up with and helped support. Simply forsaking them at the drop of a hat to focus on circlejerk writing and pandering to tumblr collegefags and politics. Also, this furfag seems like a bit of faggot himself who's a little less pozzed than your standard casual and furfag but still horribly naive on a lot of things and how he views the current climate. Especially his view that even those who are socially conservative are automatically nazis and that sjws are not "true liberals" simply because of their methods to achieve their goals.

The rest of the flaws are linked to it. Why is the acting bad? Because the males have to act stupid and the women are poor actors chosen for their lack of male appeal but given the center stage. Carrie Fisher was terrible due to drugs. She looks horrible and she couldn’t use half her face. She should have died in the first movie in the first few minutes but because of politics Leia is still alive. The designs are bad because they don’t want aliens to be stand-ins for minorities, they want aliens to be background and the minority cast to be front and center.
It is impossible for modern progressives to make good movies, because the totalitarian nature of their ideology makes the movie suck on every level, even to sound effects and design choices. The major problem is Kathleen Kennedy’s crusade to turn Star Wars into another Disney Princess Kingdom.

If entertainment was food, and its elements are macros, then graphics/visuals are sugar. I choose this analogy, because sugar gives you a quick energy high, offers little substance without other macros, and is the premier choice of those with little self control or thought process.
They're selling visuals because it's shiny, it's a quick high, and people with poor impulse control eat that shit up. Although visuals are addictive, they aren't truly satisfying when it's the only redeemable in the film film, just like eating sugar isn't satisfying without protein or carbs.
Maybe this almost explains the mentality of faux-intellectuals who say they "consume" entertainment media.

That was iffy, but we can't expect people to agree 100% on everything. Yes, Black Panther was overrated as fuck and basically just as weak as Ant-Man, but instead putting more focus on the Girl Power bullshit by giving too much spotlight to his genius negress little sister who is now the smartest fucking being on the planet despite being 16 just because Marvel wants more grrrrrl power. I mean, all the usual critics I know who get miffed about feminism completely ignored that one. Feels like everyone was too scared to touch BP with a 10ft pole of actual criticism. No wait. I was wrong, apparently it was an effort by all manner of celebrities. A shame they didn't gave the same charity to children of all colors from poor backgrounds.
>“A superhero movie with black actors and that has a great female presence is something I couldn’t even imagine dreaming about seeing when I was younger.” Anouka says. “It’s great to see a superhero film that has black people at the front of it. That doesn’t happen that often. And I think it’s going to be just really inspiring for some young people to see themselves reflected on screen.”

And now these fucks who dissed George are trying to say that Disney is doing nothing different from him despite that they hated him and loved it when Disney bought the rights from him. And now he's claiming to be a "Legends" fan while saying that the stories are not as good because they weren't political enough or because George didn't approve them all the way, despite that for years fucks like him said that the EU made the OT feel bigger and was the only good thing in a time of prequels and George's mediocrity. Worst thing is him and all the fucks in the comments section using "rational" and "logical" as buzz words as some sort of pathetic method to validate their bullshit. And worst of all is the uploader himself "Hey I like Legends, but its not in line with reality, and thus shouldn't be adapted and its not relevant." Frankly I don't get why people keep saying "Well Lucas would have…" or "Well back in the prequels…"
The real question is, who the fuck cares about what George Lucas did or would have done? That has no bearing on the fact that every single thing Disney has done with the Star Wars IP has been absolute shit. I don't care if Lucas's plan for episode 9 involved a gigantic pack of gizka eating another Death Star and shitting planet-destroying laser beams out of their assholes. It has literally nothing to do with the garbage we're being force-fed right now. Just because the guy who used to own the IP may or may not have fucked it up even more is irrelevant. That would be like saying rubbing feces in an open wound is "good" because it's better than bathing in sewer water for an entire week. It's all shit.
>>14090
>Disney employees that are trying to infiltrate and replace the actual fanbase with drooling retards that'll blindly accept their shit.
I guarantee you this happens far more often than you think. There are entire "grassroots" and "underground" marketing firms whose entire business model relies on infiltrating fanbases and manufacturing consensus. There are software suites available for purchase that are specifically designed just for this; they allow marketers to easily create and simultaneously control large numbers of social media accounts on the same website (usually normie shit like Reddit and FB). When I say "large numbers of accounts," I don't mean 5 or 10 accounts; I'm talking 50 to 100 accounts per marketer.
It's only going to get worse when AI becomes stronger and more prevalent. Imagine a machine pre-programmed with talking points, invading every discussion forum it can find to promote the company's message while posing as a "lifelong fan". The future is going to be horrible.

i shitposted hidalgo on twitter a few months back about how SOTE and TFU are still canon because the YT-2400 is in every subsequent edition of ANH from 1997 and onward (apparently they made the model for the movie first and then it was taken to use in the game, this is pablo's supposed firsthand account since it's right around when he started working for the company, either way it's just like the quinlan vos retcon in TPM) but george had a direct hand in TFU/2's story. the funny thing is, while there's no direct proof to back up the story that george loved shadows and would have made a film of it had it released in the 80s, there's also no proof to deny it, so it's schrodinger's canon, unless you fall in line with the mouse.
anyways, yeah he bent the knee to the mouse and is shilling because it's now his job to do so. at this point i'm not sure i feel sorry for any of the employees there, i might have felt some sympathy for dave or leland but they all shill as well.

while i'm on the subject of pablo and twitter, i've been meaning to shitpost him again about the novelization for TLJ, since he said back when TFA came out that the novels couldn't be considered canon, as they used multiple drafts of the film and had scenes that were either not filmed, filmed but not completed (assembly cut type shit, think anakin fighting jedi in the temple during order 66, there are dailies of it but no footage), or ended up deleted scenes. i need to shitpost him about this because TLJ's novel was amped up as having more material to flesh out the story, but under the current ruleset that would mean fuck all, as none of this material existed prior to the film's release, even with rian johnson's supposed 4 hour assembly cut.

In his last two videos he actually defends Disney on some things and even encourages people to not boycott Solo, that they should still go see it and pay for their tickets. He's also taken back some things, like claiming that Holdo and Rose aren't bad or poisonous, just irritating and that Disney really hasn't done anything truly unforgivable while completely ignoring their awful video games, toys and comics, and their treatment of the EU (and overall franchise) and its content. He even talks about wanting to be invited to red carpet premieres like his fellow youtube comic bloggers who got to see Solo because they kissed ass.

I'd prefer MCU-style silliness over what Lucasfilm's doing at this point. IW sounds alright, and being made by the Russos guarantees that it'll be memorable at least (Civil War had contrived plot silliness, but otherwise was good, and Winter Soldier was spectacular). So yeah, seeing that happen to Star Wars would be a marked improvement at this point.

PS I bought his Soylo T-shirt and I agree that a boycott wouldn't work either since not seeing something won't compel shits to realize how bad something is. But neither would the alternatives really. Since normalfags would bring up the usual "if you don't like it then why did you watch it?", "its not for you anymore" or "turn off your brain" among other retarded arguments. There really is no winning honestly. But boycotting will only cause more idiots to want to watch it, what with reverse psychology.

They honestly don't care if the movie itself is good. To them, a good film is a film you can sit around and text message with your buddies while you talk about shit you did while just barely watching the film. Every movie I've seen for the last 5 years has no one actually paying attention to it except the kids. Hell, when I went to see Avengers, everyone in the theater was either talking or texting, the only ones actually paying attention were the kids who started screaming and bawling the minute heroes started dying.

Basically, he makes the case that TLJ is the anti-Star Wars, a blatant desecration of the franchise disguised as deconstruction. Disney Soy Wars, though omission (no clear reason why/how Ben turned evil, who Snoke is or his endgame, why Luke let it get so bad + has no principles, or why Rey is so powerful and saintly towards Ben), a lack of context and clarity (how is the FO so powerful, and how come TFA and TLJ seem to exist in a cosmic vacuum?), and an inability to hew to or understand the mythological and sci-fi serial roots of SW, how TLJ contradicts the first 6 films’ themes, including “nurture over nature”, putting one’s friends first, and the transformative power of hope and growth, as well as ignoring all the rich world-building and lore set up over 40 years, as well as basic physics. He makes the case that both Luke and Anakin had actual arcs and flaws and grew in parallel ways to the story while actively being forces of change within the plot as opposed to Rey who is all-powerful and dragged along by the script, and how the prequel trilogy was a more accurate deconstruction of the concept of heroism. The video’s structure is kinda scattered for an essay but it’s ultimately pro-Lucas and at the end he calls for boycotts against Disney and calls them out for blaming the fanbase.

That could go horribly wrong… Imagine how much they'll pozz the old lore. The best thing for those idiots at disney to do is just focus on toys (that don't suck), merch, reprints, stuff for kids like lego cartoons and "What If" Infinites stories. Also, I just found out that the first draft of Lord and Miller's script had a ton of EU references as they even looked up info exclusively from the Legends tabs for the new movie. Other than it being an adaptation of the old Marvel comics, it was also going to introduce Tag & Bink into canon, sadly that faggot Kasdan was a huge fan of the duo and wanted to play Tag in Solo. However Ron deleted that scene for being unnecessary. It probably was, but anyway, I bring this up because I wonder, what if Lord and Miller had been in charge of the SW films from the start? Would they have been able to make better movies that were fun and faithful to the old lore while still bringing something new to the table? The fact that they were kicked from Solo early makes it feel like Disney really doesn't want fans to even have a EU/Legends-based movie

I think it is an attempt to fix the problem they want to fix, not the real problem. They are claiming the issue is ‘experimental directors’ by which they are shitting on Lord and Millerand the anthology films. This makes them look to the shareholders like they are taking appropriate corrective action.
It’s not so much a victory or defeat as an attempt to spin, which isn’t a surprising move from them. There also seems to be some element of punitive in the decision, as the Obi-wan movie was mostly well-received I think SJWs are just letting their vindictiveness out.

Lord and Millerand were allegedly replaced because Lucasfilm executives grew wise to them developing Solo into something of a comedy with elements of parody to it while they (and presumably Disney) wanted something that took itself more seriously to bank on Han's reputation as a devilishly charming Rogue.
Knowing this and how Solo actually turned out, I no longer believe that claim. Disney appears to be slowly trying to retire the lore that took place before TFA. The new cartoon by Filoni is a filler prelude for TFA. Most of the new novels coming out flesh out the sequel trilogy era's events. Most of the questions about how the history of the Galaxy before TPM remain about as answered or unanswered as they were in 2014. Besides a few things set during or between the older six films like BEAttlefront 2 Clone Wars DLC or the supposed Jedi Purge game, the general push is still moving away from the classic ensemble to push Disney stuff harder. They haven't been able to consistently please audiences by dusting off and adapting bite-sized portions of the EU, so now they're seeing if they can just memory hole it.

All the Marvel fanboys are happy about this but they're too dumb to understand that Disney is getting the monopoly in the entertainment business.

They'd better. If Disney and Fox finish the deal then everything will be as close to getting fucked as can be. Only thing remaining would be a Disney, EA and Amazon merger. We'd be more fucked than we can possibly imagine. Some say Sony would somehow merge with Sony. Obviously I would laugh such an idea off since Sony is a Japanese company, but their western offices would probably do anything in their power to beg and trick the eastern bosses into getting cucked by the mouse.

Not like they couldn't do that before, but no doubt they'll take too much advantage of it now or Disney will force them to make more episodes advertising their shit. Probably even a new shitty FG SW parody focusing on the sequel trilogy after 9 is finished. Disney will also probably can the new writers who were actually starting to make Family Guy just barely decent after 8 years of shit some of the new writers are actually anti-liberal or apolitical unlike Seth's previous band of circlejerk writers.

>family goy
>implying the holocaust happened
Please give pointers to episodes that have "improved" family goy so that I and other troopers can decide whether or not these episodes are worth watching.
I cannot stand the labelling of generations, though I understand it's usefulness for marketers. It feels as cringeworthy as general identity politics. The "silent" generation, the "lost" generation, the "greatest" generation, etc..

What is wrong with Plinkett's reviews? Or rather, how aren't the Prequels mostly mediocre?

I love the Force Commander soundtrack, always felt like it was made and remixed by 2 passionate guys in a garage; it's just really endearing. Also, the artillery was awesome.

Some of his arguments could have been better and he could have done without most of the insults, but otherwise I see his points. In fact, before reading I rewatched the review and saw errors. I think because when I first watched it, I was looking for entertainment, not actual critical analysis. Anyway, did he do one on AOTC and ROTS?

Not to my knowledge. He wrote thus mostly as a rebuttal to RLM, and I think somewhere in there he mentions that he didn't bother responding to the RLM reviews of II and III because Plinkett spent most of his time in those reviews circling back to trash I some more.
