Imagine dying over this weird contrivance of a plot point. How did Luke even know to sacrifice himself at that point? How did he know the last remnants of the resistance had their backs against the wall at that exact moment in time on that exact planet? How did he know that Kylo would take the bait or that it would even matter if he did? Why did Luke sacrifice himself for approximately 200 nobodies? Wouldn't it have made more sense to sacrifice himself at an earlier point in the war when the resistance still stood a chance of winning and his death would have actually made a difference to the outcome? How could he have been so sure that these 200 or so grunts would be enough to "light the spark that will start the fire that will burn the first order down (ugh)" across galaxy? What exactly is so special about them? Why did he even bother sequestering himself on the island if he's just going to break from this decision and help the resistance when it's already too late? And, if he is going to help the resistance, at this late stage, why not simply jump to light speed in his x wing?
NONE of the Last Jedi's major plot points made ANY sense whatsoever.
