Y'ALL NIGGAS READY FOR SOME MORE DIVERSITY WARS?

- rian johnson developing the next trilogy

- resurrection of the previously doomed live-action star wars tv show, plans to be out by 2019, doubt it will follow the old underworld plans though

- i tried to archive but it kept fucking up

>Disney has closed a deal with director Rian Johnson to develop a new “Star Wars” trilogy, and it is planning a live-action “Star Wars” TV series to air on its entertainment streaming service that is expected to launch by the end of 2019.

>Disney chairman-CEO Bob Iger announced the “Star Wars” news during the company’s quarterly earnings call. In addition to the “Star Wars” TV series, Disney is working on TV series adaptations of Pixar’s “Monsters Inc.,” the Disney Channel’s “High School Musical” franchise and an original entry from Marvel.

>Johnson helmed “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” which is due out Dec. 15. He’s set to write and direct another trio of “Star Wars” theatrical pics with his longtime collaborator Ram Bergman.

>“We all loved working with Rian on ‘The Last Jedi,’” said Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm. “He’s a creative force, and watching him craft ‘The Last Jedi’ from start to finish was one of the great joys of my career. Rian will do amazing things with the blank canvas of this new trilogy.”

>The long-term pact with Johnson comes on the heels of Lucasfilm having some rocky relations with filmmakers on other “Star Wars” pics. There are no dates yet for the new pics.

>“We had the time of our lives collaborating with Lucasfilm and Disney on ‘The Last Jedi,’ ” Johnson and Bergman said in a joint statement. “ ‘Star Wars’ is the greatest modern mythology and we feel very lucky to have contributed to it. We can’t wait to continue with this new series of films.”

>Of the nascent entertainment-focused streaming service, Iger said Disney would produce four to five original movies a year for the service, in addition to the original TV series. Iger said it would not have traditional advertising in the form of commercials. Sponsorship opportunities may be available, however.

>Iger also said he expects the Disney-branded streaming service to be priced “substantially below” Netflix’s $10.99 a month because the service will have less content overall. “The price will reflect that,” he said. “Our goal is to attract as many subs as possible starting out.”

If anybody wants to predict the final death of Star Wars as a vibrant property and true beginning of its labored undeath comparable to Marvel and DC, I think this will be the most roundly agreeable point of no return. I say this now because if they maintain this content commitment, then I predict they'll start making new canon for the pre-movie timeline. Substituting in material on par with their latest movies for stuff like the Golden Age of the Sith, Revan's era, the Great Schisms, Dawn of the Jedi, the Dark Age of the Republic, etc. will finally alienate what remains of the old hardcore fans. Even people who were satisfied with EA-Bioware's The Old Republic MMORPG will be too pissed off.

>live-action show

It will be about an all female band of rebels undermining a faction of COMPNOR stylized to reference the alt-right.

It'll be like STD. Gritty special effects, literally devoid of characters, emotions or stories. There is no way I think Disney knows they're walking off a cliff with Star Wars, it wasn't even a strong property for normies after 2005. George I think knew this but also knew that so-called fans would always hate what hey tried to do with the property and so he let it go.

Soon it will kill itself, at least I'll have my reference books from before.

This, sadly.

As long as Star Wars is a Disney product, there will never be a fun Star Wars show or movie with compelling characters and interesting story and setting.

Have they released any info on the new Star Wars animated series that is supposed to replace SW Rebels?

Just the Star Wars show. One of Disney's greatest structural problems is that their way of building hype is all retarded. Even if the characters weren't all made in corporate committees it'd still suffer since all the products coming out for the movie have nothing to do with the movie.

I remember the EPIII game for Xbox or Republic Commando coming out right before the movie. It was intense you get to play Republic Commando in March and watch the movie in May.

As I recall, it started in the Mortis arc of TCW, so we can pin the ultimate blame on Filoni. He gave the light/dark sides of the Force personas, kept in "balance" by the Celestial thing remaining there. This is retarded, Star Wars is not Avatar: The Last Airbender, where all the elements need to be in balance. If it was, the dark side would have redeeming qualities rather than being portrayed as evil (motivated by human and good intentions) but still evil.

A lot of brainlets think the prophecy of the Chosen One was fulfilled when Anakin slaughtered the Jedi en mass, but they were wrong. He completed the prophecy when he betrayed Sheev and through him in that bottomless on the second Death Star, redeeming himself and ending the line of Bainite Sith, therefore restoring the Force to it's natural state.

Remember the three celestials from Not-Genndy's Clone Wars? Father, Daughter and Son? Well Abeloth was Mother. The details suggest that she was the adoptive mother or the actual mother of the son and daughter, however she was mortal while her children and husband were Celestials who could live indefinitely until killed or their powers were depleted. She wanted to stay with her family forever, so she went to the spring-like force nexus on their planet which was the source of power and wisdom for the Celestials which gave them such a close connection to the Force. She hoped to drink from it to become like them, despite that the Father forbade it knowing that a mortal with no previous Celestial ancestry would not be able to handle its power, but she went in secrecy anyway. She drank from the spring and she was engulfed in an enormous power, transforming her into a celestial, however her pitiful mind couldn't comprehend such power or the metamorphosis. Thus she became deranged and corrupted and continued to absorb this power, becoming a being of tremendous chaotic power. The Father having sensed this betrayal and such horrific power sought the aid of his children, and together they sealed away the Mother in to what would become known as "The Maw". Thousands upon thousands of years of isolation along with a sense of betrayal drove her more and more insane. Upon her eventual release, shit got fucked and both jedi and sith ended up hating her. Also, she was a swirling and disgusting mass of tentacles who could take on a female shape.

She appeared in the Fate of the Jedi series of novels.

Look whose calling whom a brainlet, you meme loving fuck. It's a prophecy because it's vague and stupid. Did some achievement notification pop up when Anakin threw Palpatine down the hole? Is that how you know your interpretation is correct? If not I don't see why you're so confident, especially with all the conflicting interpretations in the universe.

Furthermore the reason the Dark Side is portrayed the way it is depends on what you're reading but often it's because, like Dungeons and Dragons alignments, it exists only to make matters significantly more simple. He's evil because he's EVIL, while our hero is good because he's GOOD. It's a cosmic alignment thing so the paladin can detect the evil men and murder them before they eat any more babies or tie any more women to railroads (which they will because they're EVIL). Other times it isn't used so strictly and it's more of a passion/discipline divide, or indeed an individualist/collectivist divide.

"Balance" is a meme, what exactly it means when all those robe wearing walking-talkers spew it is hard to say. It's obvious most of the Jedi think it means "no practitioners of the 'Sith' philosophy and users of the dark side of the force" which doesn't seem very balanced unless you interpret the use of the dark side as some kind of aberrant cancer, which it isn't clearly portrayed as. Sheev clearly thought "bringing back balance" meant "Once more the Sith will rule the galaxy! and we shall have peace". Even you interpret it as meaning something specific to the "Bainite Sith" and refer to a "natural state", which is evidenced by what exactly? What does "Balance in the Force" even look like? Is it peace? Is it war? Is it something to do with power levels? Suffering? The number of force sensitive people? All vary wildly both before and after this "balance" that was meant to occur. I personally think it was a bunch of bullshit some high motherfucker came up with, like all prophecies, but hey I'm no space magician.

Wasn't The First Order a lingering remnant of the Empire in TFA, but they're on the verge of winning int TLJ? See >>28230, basically Johnson wrote his first (and it seems only) draft in an expensive notebook because in his mind he's Ernest Hemingway.

Right. Anybody who writes drafts on expensive paper is a massive dickhead. Rian thinks every word he writes os gold.

I don't think Hemingway actual gave two shits about what he wrote on. His initial notes for "A Farewell to Arms" may well have been written whilst he was still an ambulance driver in the war, for Christ's sake.

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Palob_Godalhi Well, a historian. Not a bad role, though that might be more thanks to Bongiorno's writing talent than anything.

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Janu_Godalhi/Legends …Aaaand one of big boys for Teth, a police constable. Who somehow came upon info about the early Death Star. That's a bit much.

Talking of that guy:

> Joe Bongiorno is the creator of the Star Wars Expanded Universe Timeline (www.starwarstimeline.net), which publishes lost stories in the universe begun by George Lucas. He is the author of the eight-volume series Black Sabbath: The Illustrated Lyrics. Joe also runs a small-press publishing company called the Royal Publisher of Oz (www.theroyalpublisherofoz.com) and is the creator of the Royal Timeline of Oz (www.oztimeline.net) and the X-Files Chronology (www.xfilestimeline.net). Joe has co-edited the Cyberpunk Nexus: Exploring the Blade Runner Universe, and has written essays on science-fiction and fantasy for several Sequart Books anthologies, Wizard of the Coast’s Star Wars Gamer magazine, short stories for Oziana magazine, and has contributed material to West End Games, Star Wars Insider, and Dark Horse Comics. Joe currently lives in an ever-expanding library on Long Island where he caters to the demands of five cats and two dogs.

…We really do have so much to thank him for.
