Monday 9pm GMT there will be a Movie Battles II server up for the /SW/ community. Chat, fight, capture objectives and duel on the "Best Star Wars game of all time!".
Movie Battles 2 is a free mod of the game; "Jedi knight: Jedi Academy". It can be downloaded at www.moviebattles.org, it requires a copy of Jedi Academy (JA) to play. You can use the steam version or GOG version of JA. It runs around £7 on steam, but if you can't afford that or simply don't want to give Disney your money the pirated GOG version works just as well (or so I'm told).
Monday 9pm MovieBattles II; /SW/'s server. See you there.
Password will be revealed in this thread 1 hour before startup.

Will this be mondaily? I’m done my finals next weekend so this Monday I might only visit for a short bit. Only suggestion would be to move it to the weekend for latter dates since 9pm GMT is from 13-17:30 for North Americans.
Unless of course that time works for everyone else then fuck me, because it’s not fair to change the time just for one person, but I’d imagine it won’t work for most new worlders, unless they’re lucky enough to be neets.

Maybe it's too early to worry about this, we'll see what the situation is at the end of the week. Still, I'd like to figure out an easier way to gauge activity/interest ahead of the time on a weekly basis. Maybe just a general lobby/sign-up thread where you can ask how many people are going to show up to the next game or users can let each other know they can't make it etc. A steam group can be built on top of that for the extra announcements and keeping track of the size of the playerbase, but the bulk of it should remain here in the threads so it remains relevant in the board culture too (for example sort of like that wiki project we have going on).

I'm having trouble installing. First time I tried via the Launcher, but I kept getting the error message that "JA needs to be installed in the Steam directory" or something, even though I directed it to the proper folder. I'm trying to download the ZIP right now, but the download keeps crashing.
I tried moving the JA installation back to the default folder, I've heard that's supposed to help.

I might know a workaround. I've had a similar same problem. I install mb2 normally, but I have to literally use the same MBIILauncher.exe that's in my google chrome downloads folder (the same one I originally used to install mb2) in order to launch the game. I can't use the launcher.exe in my game folder, I can only launch it via the installer that's still in my downloads. It works fine (the installer basically just acts as a shortcut and doesn't require me to reinstall anything everytime I use it) but it doesn't really make sense. I think someone else had the same problem on the forum. Anyway, make sure it's installed and when you get the "JA needs to be installed in the Steam directory" error (or if nothing simply happens), click the on the installer you originally downloaded to launch the game. Don't change it's folder location or anything. It should open the launcher normally and validate your files. It's a weird error, I've tried unblocking it with antivirus, given it all permissions and stuff. Not sure what the deal is.

host doesn't have it up yet you have to create your own private offline server or something
just make sure you have 80skill points available in the settings before you start the match. You can make your own custom classes at your own leisure in your own server instead of having to do it in a live game. You'll also notice the classes aren't mirror so if you want a custom jedi and sith you'll have to create them separately.
