Spielberg has a weird obsession with the Holocaust like most jews do and never shuts up about it because he says his family raised him to "never forget the horrors". I'm not so sure that Rey will redeem Kylo Ren. The more popular sentiment among the poison dart whale pod, which is the one that seems to matter since they clearly don't give half a fuck about regular fans, is that they want him to refuse redemption and make executing him unavoidable.
