Has anyone ever seen one of these, like the Phantom Edit? The only I ever watched is the Despecialized Editions of the OT which were bretty gud.

I wish there was a version that kept the good parts of the special edition, like the 2011 version of Jabba, and removed the bad like the replace Jabba band and the Sentinel landing crafts and CGI stormtroopers that don't fit at all

Sadly no editors are interested in making a version that incorporates the best of both versions since the projects are usually handled by OT purists in the same smug bane as HelloGreedo.

There's this Ivan Ortega dude on YouTube who is in the process of re-editing the Last Jedi. He's uploading bits and pieces of the process, and it's very impressive what he's able to pull off with a few relatively simple tricks.

Why are people so desperate to save this trainwreck? TFA itself was just a cheap nostalgia grab with no real plans for the future or proper world building. Just mystery box bullshit, and TLJ perfectly shows how empty and grim this hollow new universe is. People should honestly be asking for a whole new trilogy but they're too fucking attached to awful characters like Rey, Finn and Poe.

The one upside of a TLJ remake being a possibility is that it's pissing off Kennedy, Rian, JJ, Boyega and the rest, and for some reason Seth Rogen. Rian is having a twitter meltdown of sorts and blocking people left and right.

TLJ as it wasn wasn't the best way to follow up the story, but people can see there was some amount of potential in what was made.

I keep looking at some of the deleted scenes, and it's obvious there was some flawed or misguided decision making in the editing process and the way some scenes are presented. It's especially evident with Leia's flight, Luke's deleted reaction to the death of Han, Phasma's original demise, etc.

>It's especially evident with Leia's flight, Luke's deleted reaction to the death of Han, Phasma's original demise

A few deleted scenes doesn't make up for how awful that film was in and of itself. The only thing TLJ had going for it is that it at least tried to have a remotely original plot unlike TFA. Phasma herself is such an uninteresting character that she honestly brought more trouble to the franchise than needed. I mean, all the new characters are shit-tastic, but Phasma herself just pushes the whole feminist empowerment bs which even her actress applauded, and her unattractive armor was used as a controversy point because "feminine" armors are sexist and aren't allowed to be both feminine and practical. The whole drama was even used to attack "sexy" armors and clothing in video games as being problematic and sexist and that "Disney is doing the right thing by destroying these sexist and perverted desires"

>It's especially evident with Leia's flight

That wasn't even an issue with editing. Just a really moronic idea like so many others. I'd honestly be harder on Rian if it hadn't been obvious that JJ and Kennedy were mostly at fault for not setting up any future plans for this franchise. They didn't have any plans for these characters. They were just derivative copies of their predecessors, hell that's all The Farce Awakens was to the point where the most noteworthy achievement they could think of for their new "not-empire" was to give them a bigger death star. Rey is just female Luke, Poe is Han Solo, BB-8 is R2 in a soccer ball, Snoke is just Palpatine 2.0, Hux is just Tarkin, Kylo is an awful and even more emo version of Vader, and Finn is basically C-3PO's cowardice but still surprisingly manages to come off as the most original character among this cast of hacks and wannabes but overall his entire role is pretty much meaningless since Rey takes the helm as leading character early on. This whole new setting is just rehashes and derivative ideas that add nothing new to the franchise and just serves as a formulated and predictable device created solely as a money making machine while completely spitting in the face of media and even Lucas himself. Even the MCU with all its ups and downs manages to follow its source material decently and even bring in lesser known elements of the setting that can even make diehard comicfags (who might not even like the movies) go "oh shit I can't believe they adapted/featured that".

TFA shat the bed already with unanswered questions about what happened between the empire being defeat and the not-empire having control. No world building at all to the point of them not being on all new planets but you can't name anyone of them because they were cheap copies of previous planets. And fucking with the set rules of universe like jumping to lightspeed into orbit of planets, gaining force-powers from fucking lightsabers and destroying planets you never heard of or were given an answer about what they were, how the fuck the remnants of the empire could build a Death Planet and why they would do that if they can't move it around the galaxy, why the fuck they incorporate modern shit like Divorce into a space-fantasy movie, why Leia cares more about some chick she never met than Chewie she saved the whole galaxy with, how Han Solo went from being a loudmouth shitbag who only cared about himself to saving the galaxy and caring about his friends to going back to being a bitter shitbag, because fuck story arcs.

The Farce Awakens was really, really fucking shit. And the only reason some lapped it up was because they included the old characters, Not-Stormtroopers and the Millenium Falcon.

I'm ashamed to admit that I was a normalfag (have mercy) and fell for the nostalgia-fueled hype when TFA came out. It wasn't until I actually watched it again and saw TLJ that the bubble I was in sort of popped. I started taking the anti-Disney people more seriously, I started going on forums, reading up on the wookieepedia drama and then I eventually found my way here and read some old books and comics which I surprisingly enjoyed unlike Wendig's work. The only genuine problem I've had since coming here is that I dislike the look of this board. I mean, I know its the default but is there a way to make it look more unique? Like say this board: https://8ch.net/trek/index.html

They even got a star themed background and everything.

There are answers to many of those questions in expanded universe comics and novels, although most fans wouldn't be any more likely to read them than they did the before the canon reboot. Another issue is that Lucas and LucasArts made the movies and The Clone Wars as pieces that were intended to and could stand fully on their own without a lore codex. People could ignore the "cringey and corny" Legends timeline all they wanted and still get a satisfying Star Wars experience because Lucas himself tolerated but didn't care much about the EU media. Disney, on the other hand, is looking at their EU as a monetization scheme. It's an excuse for them to ignore and gloss over interesting or immediate questions about the lore so they can sell audiences a novel or a comic cranked out specifically to answer a question or inconsistency they choose to ignore. It's something between laziness and greed that is a spectacle unto itself.

Look at any site discussion or youtube video relating to Star Wars where normalfags propagate and they will fellate each other over Kylo Ren/Ben Solo. I think these faggots are genuinely attracted to the Ben Swolo meme and liked that shit unironically.

Most of the comments in vid-related is just Disney shilling and Kylo Ren circlejerking.

Her true appearance is never even seen within the movies other than a brief shot of her face in TLJ, so there was no reason not to make the armor look better. Its the same shit they did with her armor in GoT (which fittingly enough is what Disney is now trying to turn SW into what with that new SW series being produced by the guys behind GoT). When people asked why her armor was so manly-looking on twitter when it was revealed she was female, the only response people got was not to be sexist and objectify her along with some other bullshit.

Its shit, but I honestly think she could've worked if they kept her being a woman a secret until the end of the film or something, but that really doesn't matter much since she does jack shit in TFA despite her actress claiming she was a strong female character. They then tried this exact same shit with the Enfys Nest character from Solo but that ended badly. I'm honestly convinced the whole point is not about looking good or good characters, its simply "girls can look just as tough, if not tougher than men! Making them effeminate is sexist", which was one of the many arguments Phasmafags would use to defend her. I mean, the EU had female villains who rarely wore manly armor, but they made up for it by actually being interesting and having a reason for looking the way they do that's not conceived from the desire to push some bullshit new age message, but because the character has a reason unique to themselves for acting and looking the way they do.

None of the new female character look "normal" or even sexy. I think there's a deliberate attempt at making them ugly. It doesn't stop at the female humans, the Twi'leks for example are nowhere to be seen in the new trilogy.

The worst part about that shit is that it's so damn predictable. Any time I watch a movie now with some kind of gruff masculine-sounding character who's fully armored with a helmet, my immediate thought is "welp, that's obviously going to be revealed to be a woman at some point." And I'm right every time. These faggots seriously think that they're pulling some kind of revolutionary character decision when they do it, but that "OH WOW CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT GUY WAS A GIRL" reveal really loses all its steam when you can tell it's coming from the first appearance of a character. When I saw Solo and that character (Enfys Nest? really? I seriously don't remember any character's name from that movie) appeared, within two seconds I pegged her as a woman.

Attention any Hollywood idiots that may have stumbled into this thread: you're not being new, you're not being original, you're just reusing the most tired pandering in recent memory. You're not fighting the status quo, you are the status quo. Quit being boring.
