And that's just it, isn't it? Ever since the rise of the Sith the dark side has been an artificial, parasitic entity. A reactionary perversion to the natural order of the Force, the Sith could only rise by fallen Jedi–only after the Order had gained strength and trained you in their ways could the Dark Jedi break off and form the Sith. And this will always be the nature of things: The Sith, should they manage to rise again, will always be destroyed once they reveal themselves; once this aberration becomes known to the Jedi and the greater Republic, it is corrected, and the natural order restored.

Unnatural. Artificial. Parasitic. HmhmhmhmhmhmHahahahahahah. So say the forcibly and unthinkingly stoic thieves of children. So self-righteous despite your creed, and so prideful in your place as the galaxy's vaunted arbiters of peace and justice. I see little to be proud of in a millennium of failure to see what was staring and smiling your entire Order in the face.

"Reactionary." Ha. You say it is not natural, but what it light without the shadow cast by what it strikes? What does it say about our continual struggle that our rise is inevitable? If we were not a natural part of the Force, then our fates would not be so intertwined. Destiny calls that we exist, as it calls for the Light side. You would not need to be so sanctimonious or so cold. That is a uniquely Jedi problem.

Your inevitability speaks only to the nature of man, not the Force. There will always be those that choose the path of expedience, the seductive call for easy power. Just as there will always be those who choose to pump their bodies full of stimulants as a poor substitute for long, hard years of disciplined training. If natural is what you be, why must you lash the Force to your will and drag it forward like a beast of burden? If so natural is your rise, why did your efforts cause such backlash, for the Force to become manifest in a being whose destiny was to be your undoing? Even when your kind turned him to your twisted cause, the prophecy was but delayed for twenty years.

The Order's hubris in its final days was a weakness. But a weakness merely of humanity, not destiny. With proper vigilance, our errors may be corrected and in the future we are better prepared. Just as the New Jedi Order did, relaxing the ascetics of the old, making the Jedi human and all the stronger. Yet you seem not to learn from your mistakes. Time and time again, the Sith build their strength in secret, obscured by distance and dimunitvenes. And time and time again, once the dark lords reveal themselves to the greater galaxy they are beaten back, their victories not lasting more than a handful of years.

>I once held the Galaxy by the throat.

Yes she did, in more ways than one. Yet for all that power, all that knowledge, what purpose did she have?

She saw through the sanctimonious naivite of the Jedi.

Succumbed and rose from the all consuming rage and hunger of the Sith.

She was both.

She was neither.

She had it all.

She lost even more.

Perhaps her biggest failure was that she is indeed, just a woman. Incapable of really caring for something greater than herself. Seeking power and lore like other women seek luxury and fame.

And once she had it, there was nothing to apply it on. Power is a tool, used to fix problems or to achieve goals, grand or small.

Without those, without a goal to strive for, power becomes meaningless.

She never had true purpose, our little Librarian Tyrant, only herself.

Did she ever learn that lesson, I wonder?

But are you really victorious? Did you really win or simply survived until the Sith, as is their nature, weakened and destroyed themselves?

The Republic is never truly the Victor of any of their wars, only the biggest entity standig.

At times I cannot help but see it as a semi-conscious superparasiting entity that has long forgotten what the real purpose of its existence is.

They continue to fight, to rebuild, to patrol and die because it is what they always have done. Because they fear the alternatives. Fear the unknown. Only Palpatine chose to make it something more and he did.

But then he was 'beaten back' by you, as if he war some malicious beast.

You succesfully returned to the politcal bog, the culutral swamp.

You revived the stagnant, ever-rotting beast.

Galactic history rhyming in a tune that is horrible and sad to hear for any who are not themselves part of it and blind to it.

Victory indeed.

Ah, so failing to malign the Order, you shift your ire instead to the Republic. And in this much, perhaps you are correct. The old Order allowed itself to to become much too connected to the galactic government. In doing so, they began to forget that their first duty was to the Force, and not the Chancellor. The Republic's stagnance became the Jedi's, brought out through apathy and detachment from the galaxy. By the fall of the Old Republic the Order functioned little different than the Fel Empire's Knights, dignitaries of the state rather than agents of the Force. The New Order, however, once again proves that the Jedi may learn from their mistakes, a quality I must stress that any Sith beyond your Darth Bane seems to lack. The Jedi no longer serve the Chief of State directly, and no longer are the Jedi situated entirely on Coruscant; after the reign of Daala the Jedi retreated from the capital entirely, so that the Order may distance itself from the politics of the realm.

I can only ever blame the Jedi for the eternal rot of the Republic.

The Jedi were the core of the Republic holding it together, protecting it, defending it, guiding it and weakening it.

Have the Jedi learned that lesson?

Have they realized how THEY caused the millenia long atrophy of the Republic?

Even without Palpatine the political apparatus and government was corrupt and dysfunctional as all hell.

Without Palpatine and the Sith, how long until the Jedi realise they fundamental mistake?

1000 years?

2000 years?

8000 years?

Would they have ever awoken from their existential stupor, had said existance not been all but snuffed out by the Sith?

One creates the other.

The Ouroboros of fate and life.

Jedi and Sith.

Trapped eternally to create and destroy eachother while the Republic remains little more than their battleground.

The Sith may have failed repeatedly and more often than the Jedi.

But our dear brothers and sisters of light and peace have failed in ways beyond their own comprehension.

Until they were wiped out like the benevolent parasites they were.

Shasz'rr, you are fortunate to have such a dissembler to contest. I will address you before I do the pantomime witch, as "she" has evaded the question.

I ask you, Jedi, is having your face ground into the dirt over and over across time "learning from mistakes"? You nearly lost the conflict with Bogan, and then the Hundred Year Darkness. Our fleets burned their way through your space in the Great Hyperspace Wars, and Exar Kun froze you in utter helpless. Revan, Malak, and the Triumvirate reduced the Order to quivering in terror on Coruscant, or else skulking around backwaters until the "problem" went away. You were not even saved by a Jedi that time. It would not last, either; you were helpless again to prevent the desecration of your temple, and it was only with our help that you saved yourselves from dear Tenebrae's madness.

Let us move on to the beginning of the end, the Madness above Korriban, where we devoured you in your reckless haste. We even warned you of what was to come: a thousand years of grueling warfare which you could not stop, ending in the destruction of so many of your own at Ruusan, and your thousand years of blind indolence afterward, itself culminating in young Sidious' extirpation of the Jedi Order. That was glorious to sense, to see thousands of Jedi feel surprise, and then nothing more. Not. A. ONE of you saw that coming. We gave you thirteen long years after that callow fool Maul revealed himself, and yet the entire Jedi Order failed to put the clues together. Even in the last three years, you failed to simply question the people who made your army. And then, when all was lost, it took the humbling of Master Yoda himself for you to change at all. "A weakness merely of humanity," you don't say. As for your vaunted New Jedi Order? The efforts of Darths Caedus and Krayt showed that you are no less susceptible to our wrath. Each and every time, Jedi, you shakily "recover" from practically nothing, and then proceed to learn next to nothing. Again and again, AGAIN AND AGAIN, you only learn anything at all when our boots are on your throats, after so many die to prove our point. We even had to improve the Republic for your indolence, and the stability and order it brings persists to this day without you.

It is your nature to restrict yourselves to the lesser abilities of the Force, much as man may choose to walk instead of mounting a beast to greatly speed his way. And as you continue such restriction, you will continue to suffer and die at our hands…until you finally understand. Emotions are as natural as wills, Jedi. It is only natural to use them as a source of strength. It has a cost, yes, but what power doesn't? It is why that pretty Tribe of the Sith lost so badly to your Master Skywalker, too unwilling to part with their vanity and embrace the power gained by sacrificing it. They are not "good" Sith, a model of things to come, but a display of the weakness which springs from lacking conviction and will. Do not hope for that, Jedi, for you set yourself up for yet another fatal disappointment.

Incidentally… what in the name of Chaos are you doing in my sanctum, questioning ghosts of your mortal enemies in philosophical debates? I would have had you flayed alive for your trespass, would that I still had flesh. Do you dare hope to gain insight into what is to come? That we have answers to the questions which trouble the sleep of you and yours? Do you finally seek to learn? Or did some foolhardy historian put you up to this? Speak, or begone!

>>11689

>>11683

You. You are not the Failure of Malachor V, so what are you and why do you take her aspect?

All that blather about the Republic and Jedi, and you have the temerity to ignore that the Jedi started our endless conflict! We were once one single Order, and would have remained so if it were not for their violent and rigid orthodoxy. Trillions of lives ended at that very instant across time, and the Jedi have yet to answer for it.

But a victory snatched from the jaws of defeat is a victory nonetheless. Just as a defeat when you are on the cusp of controlling the galaxy will still be remembered as defeat. And no matter how shakily we recover, the Jedi will prevail. No matter how many what boot rests against our neck, we throw it off, and we will prevail. No matter how many times we may be ground into the dirt, we will stand back up and we will prevail. Thrice have the Jedi been purged, and thrice has the Order emerged resurgent. Your people have strength, yes. For years or centuries at a time you hide your strength in the shadows, building it, consolidating it until you believe you may strike against the Jedi and wipe them up. But no matter your preparations, you cannot succeed. Your victories cannot be complete, you can never snuff out the light. Always have the Jedi rebounded from the most tormented of hardships, as they always will. Because the Force is with us. You use the Force as a tool, a thing to be captured and bound to your will. And in your impatience, in your vanity is your weakness. We have made the force not an implement, but your ally. And for that it will always stand with us, bringing us back from the brink when all seems lost. And that is something you can never understand. Your fear, your megalomaniacal desire to wield power personally, forever blocks you from experiencing the best the Force has to offer. Luminous beings are we.

An ally.

Yet that ally would have allowed you to wallow in your own arrogance for milennia to come.

You have yet to answer my question, child.

Can the Jedi learn and grow without the Sith? Are they not doomed, dependent, defined by them?

Sidious gave us a Galaxy without Jedi and there was peace and order as well as growth and strength for those who cannot hear the force.

But a Galaxy without as far as you knew the Sith, tell me, what did that turn into?

>>11701

I am a seeker of a new way. I have studied both the successes and failures of the Sith. I have felt their strength, their power but always it was followed by folly.

You know power but what of purpose? Will it always be limited to yourself?

Can you not see beyond your own life?

The Jedi can. Even though they may be failures in more ways than they themselves understand, they still maintain and defend something bigger than them, corrupt though it may be.

While your words ring of ancient Truth, the failures of the Sith are not to be overlooked, especially all the times you consumed eachother. For all their knowledge, there is still something base, something primitive about you.

Losing control.

Losing the War.

What future do you have, ghost?

Only Palpatine could combine the power and might of the Sith while also creating something that, in one form or another, survived him.

Only Palpatine broke the chain of self destruction long enough to truly create something great.

To create an Empire.

Only Palpatine, not Sidious.

As for the start of the conflict.

Was it ever anything less than fate? As predictable as a chemical reaction, it was only a matter of time until the sundering occured and the eternal war was begun.

For all their failures, I do not blame the children of light for that.
