Can we get a discussion going about the 2003 Clone Wars cartoon? I actually miss the days of the biggest argument in the Star Wars Fandom was if the 2003 Clone Wars cartoon was better than 2008.

I would still argue the Genndy cartoon is better than the CGI one. Though the CGI one is good after season 2 I felt the Genndy one was perfect from start to finish especially with the scene where Anakin gets his vision in the cave.

CG Wars essentially based itself of off Genndy wars. Obi-Wan and Anakins designs were one off copies. Especially Obi-Wans god tier combo of clone armor and jedi robes. I think in some parts it got way to crazy. Mace Windu taking down Super battle droids with just force powers was badass but absurd looking back at it.

Something that always bothered me about Genndy Wars was how eerily little dialogue there was. Seriously. When people talk, it's very short and snappy, if they even talk at all. It was all about the ACTION, and that's what it, much like the prequels themselves, excelled at. It took everything to the nth degree, too. Space battles are filled to the brim with massive amounts of ships. Ground battles have massive amounts of troops.
Something I would say is that it's worthwhile reading the Star Wars:Republic comics under the Clone Wars label, including the Star Wars: Jedi series. Durge, Ventress and ARC troopers appeared there first.

to be fair that is gendo tortalinis way of story telling its always been show don't tell and its something he excels at like he is not gonna put up a fucking text crawl of exposition about how Anakin the chosen one and is expected to kill all the sith which I find refreshing even after clone wars and its reminders of that

Because they were limited 5 minute shorts during the first season. What else could they do? 5 minutes of dialogue is not something kids and teens watching Toonami is gonna want to see. That's what the movies are for.

In almost any other series, that line would be 3edgy5me, but with Vader, it works perfectly.

Honestly, looking back on it, I'm starting to like the 2008 Clone Wars less and less. It's still miles above Rebels but between the stupid retcons (Maul and Ventress, for example) and stupider plots (the whole goddamn Mortis arc), it feels like it contributed to a lot of the current awfulness of the series. Plus, as much as I like Matt Lanter's Anakin, the gulf between him and movie Anakin was so huge that it was hard to reconcile them as the same character. 2003 Anakin, while also more badass and cool, never felt like a radical departure from the movie version. In fact, 2003 Clone Wars in general just seems to tie-in better to Revenge of the Sith.
Ironically enough, I felt like Season 1 of 2008 Clone Wars was the best one, simply because it focused the most on the actual "war" part. As the show went on, we got less and less of that in favor of pointless character subplots.

I've always had problems with the 2008 Clone Wars but softened a little bit on it. Though it is funny to see people praise it in comparison to Rebels. Since the way they feel about Rebels compared to CW is how i feel about the Genndy series compared to CW.

Genndywars is cool but in the end imo CG Wars is better. Genndywars was like Warhammer 40k tier with jedis going fucking super sayian. Seriously Mace Windu, and Kit Fisto became my favorite jedi in the show they did insane shit only for little me to get disappointed when Episode 3 came.
CGwars still had jedi do cool shit but at least be more "grounded"

I actually didn't like 2008 CW at all outside of a few clone-related episodes, especially the one where they rebel against that besilisk jedi. But after enduing the mess that was Rebels, I guess Disney lowered my standards or I just learned to see the actual good it had.

I think that's what disappointed most kids and fans when they saw EPIII. Seeing such great characters and villains die like pussies (specifically Grievous and Windu) was pretty damn disappointing.

2003 is objectively better than 2008. If you disagree, you are a mong.

George giving Filoni basically free rein on that show was the first nail in the coffin, and the Disney takeover the last. Just like we the The Zombie Simpsons still on TV, now we have Zombie Star Wars, with (((Disney))) using their black magic to keep the corpse shambling on.
If I encounter someone who says they like the 2008 CGI series, or worse yet, that they prefer it over the Genndy one, I just stop listening to them.

Worst part is that Filoni was still being somewhat restricted in TCW. Now look at Rebels where he had even more freedom. Shit was nothing but wolves and wolf references every damn episode by the time the final season rolled around.
