A red crystal has been created to spread and support the values of the sunflower. It was made through a joint effort of the Sunflower and Gensokyo. It is accessable by anyone and will self replicate. Picking one out for yourself will turn it into a piece of astral jewelry such as a ring, bracelet or pendant.

The idea for this was in part inspired by pic related witches coming out to do this, after previously attacking us on discord multiple times. They used a green crystal system which was degenerated but technically very effective. They also kept coming back after several members being defeated and their crystals destroyed. This was later revealed being the result of them using a large energy source to create an opposed motion.

This pentagram system has been the main target of Santa Muerte for a long time, resulting in increased violence in northern America and attacks on the church as far as it's been relying on this system (which it has to a large degree). Her three point attack on the church lead to the reformation and its three leaders, Luther, Swingli and Calvin, three degenerates sent to destroy the church in retaliation for founding the USA on christian values rather than her cult.

I was hesitating to post it, but the hex they used does look like it would do something. It does have some sort of logic behind it, as the moon is a repeater for any spells placed on the sun. If you want to get to those, one approach would be to start with the moon.
What they hoped to achieve by attacking fairies is more than I understand. They couldn't possibly do anything to them, so it must be an expression of hubris. Maybe they got high on the energy and the small successes they had.

Unless you consider them doing this in support of a huge energy machine created through human sacrifices in ancient temples and in modern times used to power the elites aka "secret societies" currently trying to enslave the world. I don't think they could do much but the context makes this into something more serious. They do/did have the ability to install energy stealing crystals on people which were pretty hard to remove, and they didn't give up even after Santa Muerte personally got involved to literally kill them.
They were very rude, coming into discord servers and destroying them by putting their crystals on everyone and also destroying the home of some lesser spiritual beings. They could maybe be considered the "goons" of the evil elites.

People rarely create new things, they create new ways to understand what is already existing. If these witches wanted to worsen the pandemic, they would be working in cooperation with these deities. I don't see them doing that. It could be said that by attacking us they were so clumsy that they ended up supporting us, as they exposed themselves and laid bare the structure of the magic used. From that view what they did ended up being supportive, but it's unlikely that was their intent. Someone higher up may have caused this effect, but the goons themselves weren't in on it.

I think we said in this thread that they're actually very powerful and that they're infiltrating discord servers to place energy stealing crystals on people.
