Michael Cohen moved to solitary confinement for being an asshole

Cohen was transferred Wednesday to a disciplinary section of Otisville Federal Correctional Institution, according to Reuters. Trump’s former fixer had previously been housed in a minimum-security portion of the prison.

Cohen was moved to solitary confinement after another inmate complained about him, one source told Reuters.

“It is my understanding that a verbal dispute over phone use prompted a temporary placement to [Special Housing Unit] pending an investigation. I do not however know who prompted the altercation, or if the action taken was factually/regulatory appropriate,” Cohen’s lawyer, Roger Adler, said in an email.

Cohen began his prison sentence nearly a year ago after pleading guilty in December 2018 to bank fraud, lying to Congress, and illegal campaign contributions.

He asked a federal judge last month to allow him to finish the rest of his three-year prison sentence in home confinement, citing the risk of becoming infected with the coronavirus. The judge said Cohen did not deserve an early release because he had failed to accept the gravity of his crimes.
