Anons, I have sought to bring the NPC hypocrisy of the univ a block away from me, to the attention of this board, and more importantly, to the school itself for some time. As noted in the posts above, I was disinvited from the org. I had belonged to that gave me library privileges. This week I got a notice from campus security that I have been banned from campus all together.

They managed to get someone to file a complaint on me (spurious of course). That presumably has thrown me into the Title IX process. And now I have a police record. I am a nearly destitute senior with no means to pursue legal recourse. I have appealed to a couple law firms for help. They are not in this city because this community’s entire identity is tied into this school. I have also filed complaints with the civil rights division of the DOJ and Dept. of Ed., based on POTUS’ recent EOs.

I’ve been a fighter all my life, but now the stakes are extremely serious and threatening. I’ve always believed Q’s admonition to fight has meant more than sitting behind a computer and feeding my brain with info. And waiting for them to arrest baby-eaters.

Q has not spurred us to begin the process of actual societal change – not in the way I’m doing it. Not yet, it would seem. But this is what is necessary. The entire culture of higher ed (as an example) is rotten to the core. I am hoping and praying that this situation can become the occasion for something larger than my particular circumstances. Please pray for me. This is frighteningly beyond me – except that I am seeing the all-sufficiency of Christ’s grace, wisdom and sovereignty. I don’t want this crisis to go to waste. These people have to be brought down. We’ve got to bring light to these horrid dark places in our culture.

Jeff Bezos is scheduled to meet with federal prosecutors in New York as soon as this week, according to people familiar with the matter. The meeting signals that the US attorney's office is escalating its inquiry connected to Bezos's suggestion that the kingdom of Saudi Arabia was behind a National Enquirer story that exposed his extramarital affair and his claim that the tabloid attempted to extort him.

Plans for that meeting come as prosecutors in the Southern District of New York are seeking to obtain access to Bezos's electronic devices, these people said. DESCRIPTION

EVP_BytesToKey() derives a key and IV from various parameters. type is the cipher to derive the key and IV for. md is the message digest to use. The salt paramter is used as a salt in the derivation: it should point to an 8 byte buffer or NULL if no salt is used. data is a buffer containing datal bytes which is used to derive the keying data. count is the iteration count to use. The derived key and IV will be written to key and iv respectively.

NOTES

A typical application of this function is to derive keying material for an encryption algorithm from a password in the data parameter.

Increasing the count parameter slows down the algorithm which makes it harder for an attacker to peform a brute force attack using a large number of candidate passwords.

If the total key and IV length is less than the digest length and MD5 is used then the derivation algorithm is compatible with PKCS#5 v1.5 otherwise a non standard extension is used to derive the extra data.

Newer applications should use more standard algorithms such as PKCS#5 v2.0 for key derivation.

KEY DERIVATION ALGORITHM

The key and IV is derived by concatenating D_1, D_2, etc until enough data is available for the key and IV. D_i is defined as:

D_i = HASH^count(D_(i-1) || data || salt)

where || denotes concatentaion, D_0 is empty, HASH is the digest algorithm in use, HASH^1(data) is simply HASH(data), HASH^2(data) is HASH(HASH(data)) and so on.

The initial bytes are used for the key and the subsequent bytes for the IV.

RETURN VALUES

EVP_BytesToKey() returns the size of the derived key in bytes, or 0 on error.

We can easily implement this with python code. or we could even possibly find it already in the open source implementation.

The National Enquirer, the flagship of David Pecker’s American Media Inc., is on the brink of being sold in the wake of multiple scandals tied to its role in the 2016 presidential election.

“Pecker didn’t want to sell it, but he was forced to cut off his arm to save the rest of the company,” one source close to the situation told The Post.

AMI, which owns US Weekly, Men’s Journal and Star Magazine, said it is shopping The Enquirer and two smaller supermarket tabloids, the Globe and the National Examiner, following a strategic review that began in August.

“We feel the future opportunities with the tabloids can be best exploited by a different ownership,” the company said in a statement.

AMI’s principal investor, Chatham Asset Management, is ”disgusted” with the recent scandals swirling around the Enquirer, according to the Washington Post, which broke the news late Wednesday.

The Enquirer became embroiled in a scandal over campaign finance violations leading up to the 2016 president election when it emerged that Pecker assisted his longtime friend Donald Trump by squashing a story from a porn star who claimed to have slept with the presidential candidate years earlier.

More recently, the Enquirer broke the story that Amazon Chief Executive Jeff Bezos, one of the richest men in the world, who also owns the Washington Post, was conducting an affair with former Fox news anchor Lauren Sanchez.

The Enquirer’s plan to disclose the information forced the tech CEO and his wife of 25 years, Mackenzie, to announce they were divorcing.

The Enquirer became ensnared in yet another scandal when Bezos claimed in February it was seeking to extort him with compromising photos unless he agreed to publicly state that its reporting of him was not politically motivated.

It’s hard to say whether these leaks were coordinated, but there have been some suggestive clues. The New York Times reported in early 2017 that, in the days and weeks leading up to Trump’s inauguration, intelligence and White House officials distributed intelligence on contacts between Russia and Trump associates far and wide. Then there is the role of Brennan himself. Among those Brennan briefed was then-Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, who a few days later released a letter to then-FBI director James Comey, urging him to make public intelligence about the Trump campaign and Russia. After the election, Brennan became a TV pundit and used his platform to accuse Trump of treason and claim the Russian government was blackmailing him.

Finally, there is the FBI’s own relationship with Christopher Steele, the former British spy who helped an opposition research firm produce a series of “dossiers” on Trump and his associates that alleged a wide conspiracy. The bureau used these products in its surveillance warrant on Page. Because those dossiers were intended to place negative stories in the press about Trump, it’s understandable that aspects of the FBI investigation would leak to reporters.

Most Washington leaks are neither good nor bad; they can be used to expose official abuse or as cudgels in a bureaucratic turf war. Leaks of ongoing counterintelligence investigations, however, are a different matter. They risk undermining the probes themselves, by making adversaries aware of them. They are also deeply unfair to the targets of such investigations, by tarnishing their reputations without a full airing of the evidence.

“Leaking information about an ongoing intelligence investigation is a classic example of surveillance abuse,” says Tim Edgar, who served as the director of privacy and civil liberties for the National Security Council under President Barack Obama. “It’s what J. Edgar Hoover did.” What happened in early 2017, he says, “clearly appeared to be politically motivated leaking.”

Leaks set the narrative for the first two years of the Trump presidency. Granted, Trump did not help his cause with his haphazard firing of Comey or his frequent and hyperbolic attacks on the intelligence community. But given that Mueller did not find the conspiracy alleged by people such as Brennan, those leaks now deserve scrutiny.

Edgar says he does not think Barr is the best person to conduct that investigation. The Justice Department’s inspector general or the White House’s Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board, he said, would be more credible. Nonetheless, he says, “These are serious questions that need to be answered in a serious way.”

It’s a pity that more Democrats do not see it that way. Many howled in protest at Barr’s comment about spying. As Representative Adam Schiff, chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, put it: “This type of partisan talking point may please Donald Trump, who rails against a ‘deep state coup,’ but it also strikes another destructive blow to our democratic institutions.”

Schiff should recalibrate his umbrage. Trump will be president until at least 2021. If Democrats see no problem with the anonymous disclosure of elements of ongoing counterintelligence investigations, or the fruits of surveillance, what is to stop Trump from doing it too? To borrow a popular slogan of the moment: This is not normal.
