When Mulder and Scully survey the crash site, they realize that there is a nine-minute disparity between the crash and the time on the victims' wristwatches, indicating missing time. Mulder believes that Max was abducted from the plane and that his body will not be found. Meanwhile, Scott Garrett, a Man in Black posing as an NTSB investigator, steals the zip gun from the assassin's body and erases his face and fingerprints with acid. Larold Rehbun, a passenger who sat next to Max, is found alive. His injuries indicate exposure to radiation.
Upon being confronted by Scully, Sharon denies that Max brought a radioactive substance aboard the plane, but divulges that she is not actually Max's sister. She also gives up details about his underground life. Scully subsequently tells Mulder that Max worked at a nuclear weapons assembly facility in Colorado under an alias, and believes that he may have caused the crash after bringing plutonium on board; Mulder, however, believes that Max was taken off the plane by a UFO, and that Rehbun's injuries were caused by exposure to the craft. Scully informs Mulder that Max's body has already been pulled from the crash site. Meanwhile, Sharon is abducted from her hotel room.
After identifying Max's body, Mulder finds that the wristwatches have been stolen from the other victims. He refutes the NTSB's official explanation of malfunction as a cause of the crash, and is doubtful that the true cause will be found unless they discern what happened during the nine minutes of missing time. The agents visit Sergeant Louis Frish (Tom O'Brien), an air traffic controller from the U.S. Air Force who was on duty during the crash. Frish denies anything unusual happened. However, after the agents leave, Frish and a colleague argue over whether to reveal the "truth" about Flight 549's demise.
After finding Sharon's trashed hotel room, Mulder meets with Millar, who tells him that the door was pulled off the plane from the outside while it was in flight. Later, Frish finds his colleague dead from a faked suicide. A group of commandos arrive to capture Frish, but he escapes. Frish goes to see Mulder and Scully, telling them that he lied before and that his commanding officer had ordered him to track the plane's coordinates as it was being intercepted by a second aircraft. Seconds later, there was an explosion and the plane disappeared from his radar. Mulder believes that a third aircraft, a UFO, approached the plane and was destroyed by the second aircraft, also causing the Flight 549 crash. The agents leave with Frish and are soon chased by the commandos but they manage to lose them by driving under a landing plane. Meanwhile, Millar returns to the crash site and encounters a UFO. He finds Sharon nearby, having just been returned by her abductors.
Scully returns to Washington with Frish while Mulder heads to Great Sacandaga Lake, searching for the crashed UFO. Scully brings Frish to a local bar where they run into fellow FBI agent Pendrell (Brendan Beiser). The Man in Black soon enters the bar seeking to kill Frish, accidentally shooting Pendrell instead while Scully shoots him back. Meanwhile, Mulder arrives at the lake where he finds a team of men already searching for the crashed UFO. He dives underwater and finds the craft, including an alien body. Before he can return to the surface, a bright light shines down from above the water.

Scully suggests that the murder was an act of retribution, and argues that the evidence was staged to look like revenge from beyond the grave. When the agents visit Ariel and Jacob, their request for the exhumation of Isaac's body angers the old man.
Mulder and Scully then interview Curt Brunjes (Jonathan Whittaker), the racist owner of a copy shop across the street from the market where Isaac worked. Mulder tells Brunjes that the other two boys, who work for Brunjes, are in danger. Scully mentions that there is a rumor spreading that Isaac has risen from the grave to avenge his death. The two boys, who are eavesdropping on the conversation, are terrified at this prospect.
That night, the boys dig up Isaac's grave and find his body intact. While retrieving tools from the car, one of the boys is brutally murdered. The next morning, Mulder and Scully find a book on Jewish mysticism buried with Isaac's body; it mysteriously bursts into flames. On the book is Jacob's name. The agents search for Jacob, finding him in a synagogue with the hanged body of the last remaining boy. Although Jacob admits to both of the murders, Mulder believes that a Golem—a creature from Jewish mysticism—is the true murderer.
Later, Brunjes is found murdered and Mulder and Scully watch the shop's surveillance tape. They discover that the Golem has features similar to Isaac. Mulder deduces that, because Ariel and Isaac were not officially wed in a Jewish synagogue, Ariel created the Golem out of love to serve as a surrogate for her late husband. The two agents arrive at the synagogue to find Ariel and the creature exchanging wedding vows. MAJOR: RUSSIA RESPONDS TO SANCTIONS – WILL PHASE OUT USD FOR ALL FOREIGN TRADE
In a major development, Russian economy’s de-dollarization project that was announced in September by Russian VTB chairman Andrei Kostin, has been confirmed Monday and is moving forward now. This measure, Kostin said, could minimize the negative effect of US sanctions on the Russian economy.
Anton Siluanov, Russian Finance Minister, commented that the process of de-dollarization will not be similar to the Argentine scenario (the exchange of assets in dollars for assets in national currency), or that of Uzbekistan (the veto to the free movement of foreign currencies) . According to Siluanov, the Russian authorities are working to avoid using the dollar in foreign trade, and start to carry out transactions in euros, rubles and other currencies.
“We will introduce tax preferences, we will talk about the quick refund of value added tax on exports,” Siluánov explained.
“The list of countries that want to reduce their dependence on the US currency is large and includes all states that have already suffered or those who fear suffering from the dollar’s extremism,” the author said.
“Europeans would benefit if Russia were to use the euro because they now have to take into account all the risks linked to exchange rate volatility. BRICS countries, and others like Iran and Turkey, also want to avoid the dollar,” said Anatoly Aksakov, chair of the State Duma Committee (lower house of the Russian parliament) for the Financial Markets.
Mirzayan, for his part, stressed that the de-dollarization of Russian foreign trade is a very reasonable measure from the political point of view. However, economically it is difficult to perform.
“In order to be able to use national currencies in bilateral trade, it is necessary that this trade be done without imbalances,” he said.
Currently, Russian exports to Turkey exceed US $18 billion and imports reach only US $3 billion. In this case, according to Mirzayán, if both countries continue to use national currencies in trade, Russia may accumulate many reserves of lira, while Turkey will have no rubles.
Despite this risk and the fact that both the ruble and the national currencies of other countries are not currently sufficiently secure assets, the authors of dedollarization indicate that, for the time being, this is just an initiative that is in its infancy. According to Kostin, the implementation of this project in Russia will take at least five years.
“The more Washington abuses its control over the dollar, the more the Russian authorities, not just those in Russia, will be convinced that the de-dollarization is worth it,” concludes the analyst.

Few historical records of Christopher Columbus mention his motivations and intentions that led him to discovering the New World. But they tie in very closely with a promise of God to Adam recorded in one of the lost books of Eden.

Before doing so, Mulder searches his briefcase (which he did not turn in to the authorities) and finds both a list of Mutual UFO Network members and satellite images of a ship. The Lone Gunmen identify the ship as the Talapus, a salvage vessel docked in Newport News, Virginia. Meanwhile, Sakurai is killed by an assassin called the Red-Haired Man.
Scully investigates the MUFON group, discovering several women who claim to recognize her from her abduction experience. They have similar implants to Scully's, and inform her that they are all dying of cancer. Meanwhile, Mulder goes to the Newport News shipyard and searches the Talapus. Armed men arrive and scour the ship, but Mulder manages to escape. That night, he discovers a warehouse where a craft is being fumigated by a hazmat team. Mulder believes the craft to be of alien origin, recovered by the Talapus.
Skinner later confronts Mulder over the briefcase (which is now in Scully's possession), the absence of which has caused an international incident with Japan. He refuses to assist Mulder any further with his case. Mulder meets with Senator Richard Matheson, who gives him the details on the autopsy and links it with the larger conspiracy of the alien-human hybrids. Mulder investigates further, discovering that the Japanese scientists were members of the notorious Unit 731 during World War II; like Victor Klemper, they were recruited by the U.S. government to develop the hybrids. Mulder believes that the scientists killed on the videotape were working on a secret railway, transporting test subjects.
After sharing her MUFON findings with Mulder, Scully runs her implant through the FBI labs to gather technological information about it. She analyzes the autopsy video, realizing that one of the scientists seen, Dr. Ishimaru, experimented on her during her abduction. Meanwhile, Mulder goes to West Virginia and tracks down the secret train car, watching a group of Japanese men place what seems to be an alien-human subject on board. Meanwhile, another Japanese scientist, Dr. Shiro Zama, waits for the train at a station in Ohio; he is forced to board after his bodyguard is killed by the Red-Haired Man in the restroom. The Red-Haired Man follows Zama aboard the train, which is headed for Vancouver, Canada.
Mulder tracks the train to the Ohio station, but learns it has just left when he arrives. Meanwhile, Scully goes to Mulder's apartment and is met by X, who warns her to keep Mulder from getting on the train, as the scientists are aware of his presence. Scully calls Mulder, who has managed to drive ahead of the train and is just about to jump onto it from a bridge. The strange story of the vanishing Interpol chief just got even stranger.
Days after Meng Hongwei, the president of Interpol, was reported missing in China, the Chinese government said on Monday that Meng was “under supervision” and being investigated on bribery charges. Meng, a Chinese national, has also resigned from his post “with immediate effect,” according to a statement from Interpol.
It’s a stunning development in a bizarre saga that began unfolding late last week.
Meng, who led Interpol, an international organization that coordinates law enforcement agencies worldwide, traveled from France to China on September 29.
Then he disappeared.
Meng’s wife went to the authorities in Lyon, France, on October 4 — where Interpol is headquartered — to say she hadn’t heard from her husband since he landed in China. Meng’s wife also told journalists Sunday that Meng had sent her a text message of a knife emoji before he vanished — which she interpreted as a sign that he was in danger.
According to the South China Morning Post, Meng is a former Communist Party official whose lost his position in the party last year.
Chinese authorities did not offer many details on what Meng is accused of or why he has been detained. The ministry of public security only indicated that he was being investigated for bribery and other crimes related to his “willfulness,” according to the Associated Press.
The head of Interpol seems to have been caught in a widening anti-corruption crackdown
Meng helps set Interpol’s policies and agenda, but he doesn’t run the day-to-day operations of the world’s largest international police organization, which provides support to law enforcement agencies across 192 countries.
That job belongs to the Interpol’s Secretary General Jürgen Stock, according to NPR, who said in a statement that the agency was trying to get more information about Meng’s status from Chinese authorities. (Kim Jong Yang, of South Korea, will take over as Interpol president until a new one is confirmed.)
Interpol focuses on cross-border or transnational crimes, such as trafficking and, well, cases of missing people. It’s probably best known for issuing color-coded “notices,” or worldwide alerts for law enforcement. For example, a “red notice” is basically a flag that a specific agency is looking to apprehend someone.
Interpol itself can’t arrest people, but critics say some authoritarian countries (Russia and China, among them) abuse the system to target strong critics or dissidents by issuing wanted notices through the organization.
China has also used Interpol to identify allegedly corrupt officials. That led to some speculation that Meng might have been ensnared in an anti-corruption investigation — a suspicion that was ultimately confirmed.
Chinese President Xi Jinping has recently presided over a sweeping anti-corruption crackdown, which he used to help consolidate his power earlier this year. Officials who are targeted by the anti-graft campaign often vanish for weeks or months.
But it’s a particularly peculiar plot twist that Meng himself got caught up in such a crackdown. China had cheered his ascension to the top of the international agency when he took over in 2016, a sign of its growing global clout.
Meng’s detainment may ultimately end up being a setback for China’s aspirations to rise to global leadership. Julian Ku, a professor at Hofstra University’s Maurice A. Deane School of Law, told the New York Times that “the fact that Meng was ‘disappeared’ without any notice to Interpol will undermine this Chinese global outreach effort.”
“It is hard to imagine another international organization feeling comfortable placing a Chinese national in charge without feeling nervous that this might happen,” Ku said.
Meng’s disappearance also puts more attention on the Xi’s widening anti-corruption campaign in China, and the country’s draconian detainment and judicial processes. China has already garnered unwanted international attention this year for its mass detention of religious minorities, including the Muslim minority Uighurs.
The circumstances are vastly different from Meng’s, but both reveal the increasingly authoritarian policies of the Xi government — which are often at odds with China’s attempts to sell itself as a vital international partner.

HOUSTON, – A Texas human trafficking survivor has sued Facebook, Inc., alleging the social media giant provides "an unrestricted platform to stalk, exploit, recruit, groom, and extort children into the sex trade," according to her lawyers at Annie McAdams PC, The Gallagher Law Firm, and Sico Hoelscher Harris LLP.
The case, filed in state district court in Harris County, alleges that Facebook, Inc. benefited from sexual exploitation of the trafficking survivor – "Jane Doe" – in violation of Texas Civil Practice and Remedies Code Chapter 98, an anti-trafficking law passed in 2009, and other state laws.
The lawsuit alleges that Jane Doe was a Facebook user in 2012 while she was 16 years old. She was "friended" by another Facebook user with whom she had common friends. This Facebook "friend" messaged Jane Doe through Facebook, noting she was "pretty enough to be a model." The Facebook "friend" made false promises regarding financial security and "a better life" through modeling.
After Jane Doe had an argument with her mother, the lawsuit alleges, Jane Doe confided in the Facebook "friend," who then offered her a job as a model. Jane Doe was told she could make enough money modeling to pay the rent on her own apartment, the lawsuit alleges. The Facebook "friend" offered to pick her up and console her about her disagreement with her mother, the lawsuit alleges. Within hours of meeting the Facebook "friend," photos taken of Jane Doe were posted online and she was then raped, beaten, and forced into sex trafficking.
According to the petition, Facebook "has continually been used to facilitate human trafficking by allowing sex traffickers an unrestricted platform to stalk, exploit, recruit, groom, recruit, and extort children into the sex trade. Facebook is now the first point of contact between sex traffickers and these children… Facebook not only provides an unrestricted platform for these sex traffickers to target children, but it also cloaks the traffickers with credibility."
The lawsuit accuses Facebook, Inc. of negligence, gross negligence, and violations of the Texas Civil Practice and Remedies Code 98.002. Other defendants in the lawsuit include Backpage.com, America's Inn, and Pearl Inc., which owns a Houston-based American's Inn location.
