This immunity deal with David Pecker, though sounding more insidious for POTUS is leading me down the road that POTUS has not been with either Stormy or Mcdougal. OPM has a robust integrity assurance program which utilizes a variety of methods to ensure the accuracy of reported information. The falsification of investigative case work by the defendant was detected through the program.

This is one of numerous cases prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia since 2008 involving false representations by background investigators and record checkers working on federal background investigations. In addition to Kahn, 23 other background investigators and two record checkers have been convicted of charges.

Former WV Supreme Court of Appeals Justice Menis Ketchum II Pleads Guilty to Wire Fraud

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – United States Attorney Mike Stuart announced today that former West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals Justice Menis E. Ketchum II, age 75, pled guilty to wire fraud. The Federal Bureau of Investigation, the West Virginia Legislature’s Commission on Special Investigations, and the Internal Revenue Service—Criminal Investigation Division conducted the investigation.

“Justice Ketchum did the right thing for doing the wrong thing,” said United States Attorney Mike Stuart. “There is no such thing as a small felony. There is no such thing as a little bit of public corruption. I want to praise the exemplary work of the FBI, the West Virginia Legislature’s Commission on Special Investigations, the Internal Revenue Service-Criminal Investigations, and prosecutors Anna Forbes and Phil Wright.”

Justice Ketchum served as a Supreme Court Justice from January 1, 2008 through July 27, 2018. During that time, he admitted to repeated personal use of a State of West Virginia vehicle and State fuel credit card over the course of 2011 through 2014 in connection with his travel from his home in Huntington, West Virginia to and from a private golf club in western Virginia. The roundtrip mileage for each of these golf outings was approximately 400 miles and cost the taxpayers of West Virginia approximately $220 per trip.

Justice Ketchum faces up to 20 years in prison when he is sentenced on December 6, 2018.

United States District Judge John T. Copenhaver, Jr. presided over the plea hearing. Assistant United States Attorneys Anna Forbes and Phil Wright are handling the prosecution.

Who Is the Sniper Shooting at a New York City High-Rise?

Residents of a luxury high-rise building on Manhattan’s Upper East Side are being terrorized by a sniper taking shots at their building.

Police believe the gunman fired from Roosevelt Island across the East River at random on at least two different occasions. The first bullet, fired last Friday, hit an apartment on the 32nd floor. The second bullet, fired the next day at 1:15 a.m., hit a window on the 14th floor.

The shattered windows are now covered with plywood.

A woman named Ilene who lives on the 22nd floor of the targeted building told Inside Edition she's living in fear.

"You are nervous," she said. "I am certainly afraid to be by the window."

Rents in the targeted building start at $7,000 a month for a two-bedroom apartment. On Tuesday, police were spotted inside trying to figure out exactly where the bullets came from. It's believed the weapon used was a .38 caliber Smith & Wesson revolver.

Former DEA special agent David Katz said even at a long distance a .38 caliber handgun can be deadly.

“It's not that far a shot,” Katz said. “They're not effective as far as accuracy, but still it'll hit that glass and possibly hurt or kill somebody.”

He said the people in the building should “absolutely” be nervous.

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — Police have arrested a man in connection with the fatal shooting of a code-enforcement officer and are investigating a nearby house fire as arson.

Police said Jill Robinson, 52, was conducting a routine follow-up Thursday morning. They say Kevin Wayne Billings, 64, allegedly shot Robinson and set fire to her city vehicle. He was booked into jail for investigation of aggravated arson and aggravated murder and for arson, reported the Salt Lake Tribune.

A deputy police chief told the Tribune that code-enforcement officers are city employees and are unarmed. They typically deal with issues such as weed control and abandoned vehicles.

In a statement released on Twitter, West Valley City expressed shock and heartbreak at Robinson’s death, noting that she was “a trusted colleague, a loving aunt, a proud mother, and a doting grandmother.”

Professor’s contract with students: ‘Drop the class immediately if you are triggered by free speech’

A professor has taken a novel approach when it comes to dealing with the increasing number of students railing against and even shutting down academic ideas they don’t agree with: a contract.

James “Duke” Pesta, an associate professor of English at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, presents a two-page contract to his students on the first day of class that asks them to drop the course if they are “triggered” or offended by certain ideas or beliefs.

What does the contract say?

“In this course, we study literature from cultures that existed before you were born. Their world is not our world. Their beliefs may not be our beliefs. No one asks you to believe or endorse any premise, attitude, precept, theology, political system, or ideology contained in these books or expressed in class. Nor will you ever lose points or be docked grades because of your opinion (written, oral, or otherwise),” the contract’s Statement of Purpose reads, the College Fix said.

“We will not malign or trivialize these texts because they do not always parrot our values. We will not assume these books are racist, sexist, or homophobic because of the period in which they were written, or because of the race, class, gender, or religion of the authors,” the contract also says, the outlet reported. “People who approach alien cultures with such preconceived notions are bigots masquerading as critically sophisticated advocates, often in the name of ‘social justice.’ Persons who so diminish the past are neither social nor just, especially when they compel students to adopt their biases.”

The College Fix noted that the contract also offers the following instructions:

Please drop the class immediately if you are triggered by free speech, the free exchange of ideas, or people who express and defend ideas or opinions that differ from your own.

Please drop the class immediately if you are triggered by open, direct, and adult discussion of issues, including but not limited to issues of faith, war, violence, race, gender, and sexuality.

Please drop the class immediately if you are triggered by recurring encounters with heterosexuality, traditional gender identities, sympathetic representations of Christianity (or religion in general), positive examples of free markets or capitalism, or unapologetic encounters with patriotism, hierarchies, or meritocracy-based institutions or attitudes.

Please drop the class immediately if you feel entitled to censor the thoughts or words of others or insist they tailor their language or attitudes to your preferences.

Pesta — a conservative — told the outlet in an interview that he’s used his contract for three semesters and a less-specific version for about eight years.

“I have learned through personal experience that university administrators and equity officers are often not willing to defend classroom speech, even if that speech is taken directly from books or used to explain them,” he told the College Fix.

‘Intrusive investigatory process just by complaining’

“Students are now keenly aware that they can put professors through an intrusive investigatory process just by complaining, even without any corroborating evidence. I have even had department heads who allow students to substitute required classes for other courses just because students complain about what they have ‘heard’ a professor’s classes are like,” Pesta added to the outlet. “My contract is an attempt to make it harder for these kangaroo court investigations to be launched in the first place.”

What does Pesta have to say about trigger warnings?

Pesta told the College Fix he finds trigger warnings — which inform students in advance that subject matter might offend them — “appalling from an educational standpoint.”

“But I have come to realize that they may have more utility for professors than students,” he added to the outlet. “It’s one more way to try and indemnify yourself from malicious and unfounded complaints by driving away at the outset students who only want their own preconceived ideas validated.”

How have students reacted to the contract?

Pesta told the College Fix that students so far have been willing to sign his contract.

“I’ve not encountered a student yet who would not sign,” he added to the outlet. “I do tell them, when I pass it out the first day, that if they refuse to sign they will have to meet with me sometime during the first week of classes to discuss the contract and make sure we’re on the same page.”

(AP) Utah's top federal prosecutor has offered his resignation to President Donald Trump's administration, joining dozens of his counterparts around the country who were asked to submit letters of resignation.

U.S. Attorney for Utah John W. Huber submitted his letter of resignation on Friday evening immediately after receiving a request from the Trump administration.

But spokeswoman Melodie Rydalch said Monday that Huber has not resigned because his letter had not been accepted yet. She says the matter is in the hands of the U.S. Department of Justice.

The Department of Justice said Friday that Attorney General Jeff Sessions had sought the resignation of 46 U.S. attorneys remaining from the Obama administration.

Many other U.S. attorneys nominated by Obama had already left.

Huber was appointed in 2015.
