Trump Endorses Mass Amnesty Cheerleader Who Routinely Undermines Him

President Donald Trump doubled down on his endorsement of Republican Florida Rep. Maria Salazar ahead of Tuesday’s primary, despite Salazar being a proponent of legislation labeled a gateway to mass amnesty by its critics.

Trump’s endorsement of the former news anchor and political reporter began with the president saying that Salazar had been “doing a truly fantastic job” representing her district.

“In Congress, María is working hard to Grow our Economy, Cut Taxes and Regulations, Promote MADE IN THE U.S.A., Unleash American Energy DOMINANCE, Keep our Border SECURE, Stop Migrant Crime, Support our Brave Military/Veterans, and Defend our always under siege Second Amendment,” Trump continued.

While Salazar also endorsed Trump’s 2024 election campaign, she has been vocal about her policy disagreements with Trump, especially over their opposing views on immigration.

Salazar had also sponsored the DIGNIDAD Act, or “dignity” in Spanish, which would secure the border to end illegal immigration, make the asylum process more efficient while minimizing the catch-and-release practice, create a legal path for illegal immigrants already in the U.S. to obtain citizenship, and allow legal immigration for hiring shortages in key American industries.

Republican challengers to the act, including Texas Rep. Brandon Gill, referred to the act in April as a “terrible betrayal of our voters.”

“It’s rank amnesty, and everybody knows it,” he added, saying that it would grant legal status to over 10 million illegal aliens. “I want dignity for Americans — the people whose interests we represent - not illegal aliens.”

Salazar pushed back, claiming that Gill hadn’t read the act and characterized real amnesty as “millions in the shadows, no control, no accountability, and a system that stopped working a long time ago.”

While Trump has held a soft spot for companies using illegal immigrants in jobs that are “almost impossible to replace,” he has not proposed a mass nationalization process and has cut amnesty.

Salazar was also one of the few Republicans who voted with Democrats to create a committee to investigate Jan. 6. Ultimately, the bill went through several iterations before the creation of the House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol. Trump and his supporters criticized the House committee as a blatant attempt at political weaponization.

Still, Trump announced an endorsement of Salazar in February, then reiterated it in a recent Truth Social post, stating that “Salazar has my Complete and Total Endorsement for Re-Election,” while attaching a link to where voters can find their polling place.

Witkoff, Trump Family Crypto Firm Backs AI Venture Tied To Restricted Chinese Companies

World Liberty Financial, the crypto industry company co-founded by Alex and Zach Witkoff — sons of billionaire Trump advisor Steve Witkoff — along with Trump family members, is reportedly backing a Hong Kong artificial intelligence (AI) venture tied to Chinese companies restricted by the United States government.

According to a Reuters report, the firm has entered into a partnership with WorldClaw — a relatively new Hong Kong-based company that gives subscribers access to a range of AI models developed by companies worldwide. However, a Reuters investigation found that around half of the AI models offered by WorldClaw are owned by, or originate from, mainland Chinese companies that the U.S. government has restricted from doing business in the United States over national security concerns.

These companies, according to the Reuters report, include Alibaba, Baidu, and Z.ai, alongside several others.

While the partnership between the children of the U.S. president and those of one of his closest advisors with Chinese AI companies is concerning enough, the Daily Caller previously reported that the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) granted World Liberty Financial a conditional de novo national trust banking charter. The charter allows World Liberty Financial to establish a domestic U.S. national trust bank.

Importantly, the OCC is a regulatory agency operating under the auspices of the U.S. Treasury Department.

Still, the de novo charter process will require World Liberty Financial to undergo extensive layers of regulatory scrutiny — at least in practice. However, the fact that the children of a sitting president and those of a powerful White House advisor have been granted a banking charter that lacks any sort of recent precedent.

The additional prospect of a relationship between World Liberty Financial and Chinese companies deemed by the U.S. federal government to have ties to the Chinese military is even more concerning.

The Treasury Department and the OCC did not respond to multiple requests for comment from the Daily Caller.

That helps explain the urgent decision to pull the ships away from the port. The quick response appears to have prevented a localized attack from becoming a much larger industrial and coastal emergency.

Backup fuel carries a climate price

Egypt moved quickly to activate other regasification units and an emergency vessel at Jordan’s Aqaba port.

Officials also said power plants held more than 468,000 U.S. short tons of fuel oil, giving the grid another fallback if gas supplies tightened.

Natural gas is not emissions-free, but a prolonged shift to fuel oil would raise the carbon burden.

U.S. Energy Information Administration combustion coefficients show residual fuel oil releases about 42% more carbon dioxide per unit of energy than natural gas, although actual power plant emissions also depend on efficiency and operating conditions.

A long outage could therefore keep the lights on while pushing the power system’s emissions in the wrong direction.

Drones change port security

The strike also exposes a design problem. FSRUs are large, remain stationary for long periods, and connect to fixed berths and pipelines, which makes them efficient energy assets but visible targets.

A drone does not need to sink one to disrupt schedules, trigger costly security reviews, or push a government toward backup fuel.

The same technology can help defenders. Egyptian teams reportedly used aircraft and drones to monitor the fire, while tugboats and rapid separation procedures reduced the risk around the port.

Future protection will likely depend on better low-altitude detection, counter-drone systems, hardened firefighting equipment, and more redundancy across ports and power supplies.

Cairo avoids the blame game

Timing sharpened suspicions. The strike followed an Iranian missile attack on U.S. forces in Jordan and U.S.-Saudi strikes on Iran-backed groups in Iraq, but no organization or government has claimed responsibility for Damietta.

Iran’s foreign minister suggested without evidence that it was an Israeli “false flag” operation, while Yemen’s Houthis denied any role.

Instead, President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi warned about the danger of regional escalation and called for international efforts to stop it.

That cautious approach helps preserve Egypt’s role as a mediator, but it also leaves Cairo under pressure to show that its ports and energy network can withstand another attempt.

Energy security now includes climate security

The lesson from Damietta is uncomfortable but clear. Military resilience, energy planning, and environmental policy are becoming the same conversation.

More import routes can reduce the impact of one damaged ship, while renewable power, storage, and demand management can reduce the amount of fuel that must move through exposed ports in the first place.

For now, Egypt says gas and fuel supplies remain secure, and the national network is stable. The immediate crisis ended without casualties or a nationwide blackout, but the next test is whether the country can add protection without locking itself into dirtier emergency fuels.

U.S. Attorney’s Office and U.S. Marshals Service Announce More than 600 Arrests in Northern Ohio Violent Crime Crackdown

CLEVELAND – Hundreds of individuals were apprehended and taken into custody throughout northern Ohio as part of a multi-agency strategic initiative to combat violent crime. The multi-jurisdictional sweep across eight cities, known as Operation Northern Shield, was coordinated among federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies and task forces.

In May, June, and July, more than 600 people were arrested and nearly 200 firearms were seized along with varying amounts of fentanyl, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, cocaine, illicit drugs, and U.S. currency. Approximately 264 of these arrests came from surges into individual cities, and an additional 355 arrests were from other areas across the District.

“Operation Northern Shield was a different strategy than what was done before. We’ve never targeted multiple cities simultaneously. But we knew that, historically, rising temps in the summer months tend to correlate with rising crime and we needed to act swiftly across our region, not just in one area,” said U.S. Attorney David M. Toepfer for the Northern District of Ohio. “We were determined to shield our communities with the highest crime areas. We especially would like to thank the U.S. Marshals Service for taking the lead in this effort to align state and local agencies and resources to take down some of the most wanted criminals in our District while continuing to perform their regular work to hunt down fugitives.”

“Operation Northern Shield succeeded because agencies did not work in silos, they worked as one team. This is what successful multi-agency operations look like. Different patches, uniforms, and chains of command, one mission making northern Ohio safer,” said U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott. “For 23 years our USMS (NOVFTF) was built on and sustained through our partnerships. My special thanks to all the federal, state and local officers, assistant U.S. attorneys, and crime analysts who put in the long hours to make this operation a complete success, ensuring the safety of our communities.”

Plans for Operation Northern Shield began in early 2026, with the goal to partner with local law enforcement agencies in a cohesive and integrated effort to target and apprehend violent fugitives in eight northern Ohio cities including Akron, Cleveland, Lorain, Youngstown, Elyria, Canton, Mansfield, and Toledo.

Fugitives were wanted for crimes of violence such as homicide, manslaughter, assault, robbery, and sex offenses. Other offenses involved human trafficking, firearms, and illegal drugs.

Overall, Operation Northern Shield yielded the following totals from May 17-July 18:

619 arrested

684 warrants cleared

29 (suspected) gang members arrested

NIH terminated the grant, Understanding the Risk of Bat Coronavirus Emergence, based on allegations that COVID-19 emerged from the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) in Wuhan, China. NIAID awarded the grant to Company 1 and Co-Conspirator 1, who made a subaward to the WIV.

Following the termination, Morens and Co-Conspirator 2 pledged to help Co-Conspirator 1 restore the termination of the bat coronavirus grant and counter the narrative that COVID-19 leaked from a lab. In anticipation that their communications would be requested through FOIA Requests, Morens, Co-Conspirator 1, and Co-Conspirator 2 agreed in writing to intentionally hide their communications from public view by corresponding using Morens’s personal Gmail account, rather than his official NIH email account.

The co-conspirators used Morens’s personal Gmail account to exchange non-public NIH information; correspond about their efforts to influence NIH to fund Company 1; exchange edits to drafts of letters addressed to NIH leadership for Company 1 and Co-Conspirator 1; and “back-channel” information to Senior NIAID Official 1. According to court documents, each of these matters fell within Morens’s role as senior advisor and constituted federal records that needed to be created, maintained, and exchanged on government systems.

Additionally, as admitted to in his guilty plea, Morens and Co-Conspirator 1 conspired to pay illegal gratuities. Co-Conspirator 1 gifted Morens wine for his “behind-the-scenes shenanigans,” and arranged for its delivery to Morens’s Maryland residence. Morens then allegedly identified an official act that he could perform to “deserve” the gift, which was to author a scientific commentary in a prominent medical journal advocating that COVID-19 had natural origins. Co-Conspirator 1 suggested he would provide Morens with additional things of value, including meals at Michelin-starred restaurants in Paris, New York, and Washington, D.C.

Morens is facing up to five years in prison for conspiracy to commit offenses and to defraud the United States. Actual sentences for federal crimes are typically less than the maximum penalties. A federal district judge determines sentencing after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

BOSTON – A former U.S. Marine from Everett, Mass. has been arrested and charged for allegedly possessing child sexual abuse material (CSAM).

Carlos Fernando Alvarenga Portillo, 29, was charged by criminal complaint with possession of child pornography. Portillo was arrested on Aug. 5, 2026 and was later released on conditions following a detention hearing.

According to the charging documents, Portillo was identified as an individual who had – as early as January 2022 – knowingly possessed files online that depicted CSAM. A forensic examination of a Samsung Galaxy device seized from Portillo’s residence on July 15, 2026 allegedly revealed over 200 media files that depicted CSAM, including the abuse of victims between approximately four and 11 years old.

The charge of possession of child pornography provides for a sentence of up to 20 years in prison, at least five years and up to a lifetime of supervised release and a fine of up to $250,000. Sentences are imposed by a federal district court judge based upon the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and statutes which govern the determination of a sentence in a criminal case.

However, the drone interpretation is strained by the following properties:

1. Speed: The Gulf of Oman orbs reach sustained supersonic speeds which is not currently possible for small, rotor-based or ducted-fan drones. The aerodynamics and propulsion requirements for a multirotor-type craft at that speed are not remotely compatible with known small-drone engineering. If the high end of that speed range is accurate and correctly attributed to the same small objects rather than reflecting a measurement error, sensor artifact, or conflation with a separate fast-moving object like a missile in the same scene, this genuinely exceeds what any known drone technology, small or large, can do.

2. Thermal signature: Small electric drones typically do show a modest but detectable thermal signature from motors, batteries, and electronics and should not appear as cold orbs.

Appearing cold relative to background is unusual for an active, powered device, although it might reflect a novel drone design which evades a thermal fingerprint given the distance and sensor sensitivity threshold.

3. Radar Cross-Section: Small drones, especially plastic/composite-bodied commercial ones, notoriously have very low radar cross-sections. This could explain why some orb incidents lack solid radar confirmation, but it suggests that other objects which were tracked on radar with a strong return, are different.

The most likely resolution for the mixed message in the above analysis is that not a single explanation covers all reported orbs.

It is plausible that the majority of the low-speed, formation-flying, radar-quiet orbs are genuinely human-made drones, while the outlier high-speed or high-radar-cross-section cases within the same dataset represent either measurement error or an attribution mistake, whereby a fast-moving object like a missile or aircraft momentarily conflated with a slower drone swarm in the same scene.

Better digital data is needed to decide whether any of the UAP orbs represent a new class of objects of non-human origin.

Such data could be obtained through future campaigns for new data collection, coordinated by the partnership between the U.S. Government and the UAP Science Advisory Council (https://uapsac.com/) under my leadership.

OpenAI introduces ‘ChatGPT for Teens’ experience amid scrutiny over child safety

OpenAI is rolling out a new “ChatGPT for Teens” experience that it says will provide additional safety protections for teen users.The move comes as OpenAI faces a string of lawsuits alleging that inappropriate conversations with ChatGPT contributed to the harm or deaths of young people.

The experience will bring together new tools and a number of youth safety protections that OpenAI has rolled out over the past year, the company said in a blog post Tuesday.

Those will include nudges for teen users to take a break if they’ve been active for 90 minutes within a three-hour window. OpenAI is also adding options for teens or parents to set “Quiet Hours” when ChatGPT is unavailable or “Study Hours” where ChatGPT’s study mode for learning will be on by default.

The company also said it has improved protections to prevent ChatGPT from expressing personal feelings toward a user.And it’s adding reminders that caution teens to think twice if they try to upload a private or sensitive image to the chatbot.

The new protections will apply “age-appropriate safeguards designed to reduce exposure to content that may be harmful or developmentally inappropriate,” the company said in its Tuesday blog post,” while preserving the ability to learn, create, and explore.”

Users who identify at sign-up that they are under 18 will be automatically placed into the protective settings. OpenAI also says it’s using AI to estimate users’ ages and will apply these protections to users who are suspected to be under 18 regardless of the birthdate in their profile.

Lauren Jonas, OpenAI’s head of youth and families, described ChatGPT for teens as a “dedicated, learning-focused experience for teens with additional protections and safeguards” in an interview with CNN on Tuesday.

Nearly a third of American teens use AI chatbots daily, a Pew Research Center studypublished in December found.ChatGPT was by far the most popular AI chatbot in the survey, with more than half of those teens reporting having used it.

OpenAI has faced scrutiny over concerns that ChatGPT risks exposing young people to inappropriate content, exacerbating loneliness or inhibiting learning. The company has faced multiple lawsuits from families who allege that ChatGPT contributed to, or even encouraged, their child’s suicide. The company has pushed back on these allegations.

Last fall,OpenAI introduced controls that it said would let parents disable ChatGPT features like memory and chat history and receive notifications when the system detects “a moment of acute distress” during their child’s use of the chatbot. Disney sues Trump’s FCC over ‘retaliatory campaign’ against ABC 1/2

Disney is going to court to defend its ABC television stations from the Trump administration’s pressure campaign.

On Tuesday, the media company filed a lawsuit in federal court alleging that Trump’s FCC is violating its First Amendment rights.

The administration “has waged a retaliatory campaign against ABC for a single reason:it disapproves of what ABC broadcasts,” the lawsuit filed in DC District Court alleges.

The legal action comes as the FCC investigates the ABC talk show “The View” and mounts an unusual challenge to the licenses held by ABC stations.

The stations fall under the FCC’s purview because they broadcast over the public airwaves.

FCC chairman Brendan Carr, a Trump loyalist, has scrutinized Disney on several fronts, including DEI, short for diversity, equity, and inclusion.Carr has said that Disney might be committing “illegal DEI discrimination.”

Carr’s critics have said DEI is a laughable pretext for what’s really happening: A political pressure campaign led by President Trump.

The president has railed against ABC (and other networks) for years. He has repeatedly denounced the network’s reporters and argued for licenses to be revoked.

Last April, when conservatives expressed outrage over a controversial joke made by ABC late-night comic Jimmy Kimmel, Trump pressured ABC to fire Kimmel.

As ABC stood by Kimmel’s show, Carr ordered the network to file early-renewal paperwork for its station licenses,even though the eight licenses weren’t due for renewal for several years.

Carr asserted that the timing was a coincidence and the license review was related to his DEI probe. But it was widely viewed as a form of government retaliation for airing Kimmel’s show and resisting Trump’s pressure.

There are more than 200 ABC-affiliated stations across the US, but most are owned by other companies. Eight are owned by Disney directly, and those are the stations targeted by the FCC.

FCC licenses are renewed every eight years and are virtually never revoked. Until this year, the FCC had not filed an early-renewal order in decades.

But Carr has been determined to wield the FCC’s limited power in new and politically charged ways.

Tuesday’s lawsuit specifically asks the court to issue a temporary restraining order and a preliminary injunction that would stop Carr from moving forward with the license challenge. “This Court’s intervention is necessary to stop the Federal Communications Commission’s extraordinary assault on free speech,” the suit states.

The suit also asserts that Disney — a sprawling company better known for theme parks, Star Wars and ESPN than its local TV stations — did not go looking to pick a fight with the US government.

The company says it has come to court “reluctantly,” arguing there is “no alternative means to eliminate these ongoing and immediate threats other than total capitulation to the administration’s demands.”

An FCC spokesperson responded: “The FCC has been examining claims that Disney engaged in illegal DEI discrimination for over a year. Disney is obviously very concerned about the FCC’s proceeding, as evidenced by their ongoing campaign of disinformation as well as their decision to ask a court to stop the FCC from further pursuing matters.”

Carr also opened a case against “The View” over an alleged violation of “equal-time,” invoking a rule that has rarely been enforced in recent years. “The View” often features outspoken critics of Trump.

Disney’s lawsuit says the FCC pressure has already affected what airs on the daytime talk show. Since the agency’s inquiry began, ABC says “The View” has become “more circumspect in booking political candidates” and has stopped considering several potential candidate bookings.

No political candidate has appeared on the show since February 2, Disney says in the complaint. The pressure has even affected which video clips make it to air: ABC says it has “chosen not to air clips” it otherwise would have used because they could count as candidate “appearances” and potentially be cited against ABC in the FCC’s ongoing review.

A wide range of First Amendment groups have denounced the action against ABC, while some conservative groups have defended Carr, arguing that the Trump administration is well within its rights. “It is not in the public interest for ABC to operate as an arm of the DNC,” Carr ally Daniel Suhr, president of the Center for American Rights, said earlier this year.

Last week, Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro said in a CNBC interview that “our position on this is clear.”

When asked about the FCC threat, D’Amaro cited ABC’s “journalistic integrity” and said, “We’re not going to be told how to run that side of our business.”

D’Amaro added, “I like what we do. We tell incredible stories. I think we do it well. We do it around the world. And we’re going to stay committed to that.”

Tuesday’s lawsuit states that the pressure against ABC “has been deeply felt throughout the company.”

“The campaign is also calculated to operate in terrorem upon the rest of the industry:ABC is the visible target and suffers the most immediate harm, but the message is addressed to every broadcaster in the country, and the ultimate cost is borne by the press as a whole,” the suit alleges.

According to our source, Trump was prepared to approve the request when Harp interjected, “It’s not the right time for that.” Instead of siding with Gen. Smith, who said White Hats had overwhelming evidence Kelly had taken Deep State money to defame Trump, Trump took Harp’s advice, telling the general to “stand down but stand by.”

Harp, our source added, also convinced President Trump to veto General Smith’s request to apprehend Deep State agent and former FBI agent Curis Heidi, one of the countless agents involved in the debunked Russia Gate scandal who had also been part of Biden’s FBI strike force that raided and occupied Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate on August 8, 2022.
