18 U.S.C. § 611 prohibits aliens from voting in certain U.S. federal elections unless specific conditions are met.
Key Provisions
(a) It is unlawful for any alien to vote in an election held solely or in part for the purpose of electing a candidate for:
President, Vice President, Presidential elector
Member of the Senate
Member of the House of Representatives
Delegate from the District of Columbia
Resident Commissioner
Exceptions:
The election is held partly for some other purpose.
Aliens are authorized to vote for that other purpose under a State constitution, statute, or local ordinance.
Voting for that other purpose is conducted independently of voting for the federal office, so aliens can vote for the other purpose but not for the federal office LII / Legal Information Institute+1.
(b) Violation of this section is punishable by:
Fine under this title
Imprisonment for not more than one year
Or both LII / Legal Information Institute+1
(c) The prohibition in (a) does not apply to an alien if:
Each natural parent (or adoptive parent, if adopted) is or was a U.S. citizen (by birth or naturalization).
The alien permanently resided in the U.S. before turning 16.
The alien reasonably believed at the time of voting that they were a U.S. citizen LII / Legal Information Institute+1.

This law is part of Title 18, Chapter 29 (Elections and Political Activities), and is designed to prevent aliens from voting in federal elections unless they are also eligible for a separate, non-federal election. It does not bar aliens from voting in state or local elections, but it does restrict their participation in federal elections unless the conditions in (a) are met.

On July 16, U.S. forces successfully destroyed the Chah Bahar Shahid Kalantari Port surveillance tower, part of a maritime surveillance network along Iran’s Gulf of Oman coastline used for decades by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to track and target commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
The destruction of the tower directly degrades IRGC’s ability to coordinate attacks on innocent civilian crew members. Furthermore, the strike protects freedom of navigation in regional waters for all vessels, except for ships attempting to violate the ongoing U.S. naval blockade against Iran.
