The FBI Paid to Censor Americans and Now Refuses to Show the Receipts

The FBI buried Hunter Biden's laptop story three weeks before the 2020 election and paid Twitter millions to help.

Now someone finally found a way to force the receipts into open court.

A federal judge is now holding the one document the FBI has spent three years insisting does not exist.

The FBI FOIA Lawsuit Over Taxpayer-Funded Censorship

The New Civil Liberties Alliance – a conservative civil liberties group founded to fight administrative overreach – filed a FOIA request in January 2023 asking a simple question: did the FBI pay social media companies, media organizations, and other private groups to suppress speech?

The FBI's answer was to not answer at all.

Rather than search for a single page of records, the bureau invoked an exemption designed for ongoing criminal investigations and used it as a blanket shield. Then it claimed it could neither confirm nor deny that any records existed.

That last part is where the FBI's story falls apart entirely.

For years the bureau has publicly acknowledged it reimburses Twitter – now X – and other platforms for the cost of complying with legal process. Now it insists that even acknowledging those records exist is too sensitive to put on paper.

Casey Norman, Litigation Counsel at NCLA, nailed the contradiction directly: "The FBI is effectively saying: 'We will not search, we will not explain, and we also will not acknowledge the existence of records that we've already acknowledged exist.' That's not how FOIA works."

On June 30, NCLA filed a motion for summary judgment in federal court asking a judge to force the bureau to open its files.

A military-grade aerial drone has been discovered washed ashore on a beach on the Black Sea Coast of Türkiye, Ihlas News Agency (IHA) has reported.

The UAV was spotted by local residents in the Filyos district of Zonguldak province, who called emergency services, the agency said in an article on Sunday.

The area was swiftly cordoned off by police, and bomb disposal experts were deployed over concerns that the drone could be carrying explosives, it added.

The initial assessment suggested that it was a military UAV, but a more thorough technical examination will be required to determine its country of origin, according to IHA.

The Turkish authorities haven’t yet commented on the discovery of the UAV, which is the second in less than a week.

On Wednesday, a drone carrying 5kg of explosives went down in northeastern Trabzon province, IHA reported. Investigators determined that the aircraft was of Ukrainian origin, the agency said, adding that local residents experienced a brief panic before the crash site was secured.

There were at least three UAV incidents in the country last month. In late June, a fixed-wing drone hit the ground in Türkiye’s Kastamonu province, while another one was found in Samsun province. Just over a week before that, a drone crash-landed on a beach in Bartin province.

In late March,the Turkish government said that they are closely monitoring the risks posed by drones in the Black Sea. According to Ankara, it maintains “contact with the relevant parties to prevent the war from spreading… and to prevent further escalation.”

Kiev has ramped up its long-range UAV attacks on energy infrastructure and civilian targets inside Russia amid continued setbacks on the battlefield in recent months.

There have been a number of incidents of explosive-laden drones, flying towards Russia’s northwestern Leningrad Region,crashing in NATO member states – Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Finland.

Russian Security Council Secretary Sergey Shoigu haswarned previously that if it turns out that the Baltic states and Finland “deliberately provide their airspace” to Ukrainian UAVs, Moscow has the right to self-defensein response to an “armed attack” under Article 51 of the UN Charter.

'When they arrive, they arrive in hundreds everyday. This is extending it by over 400. So that's basically a big day of crossings. Where else will they go?

'It's a huge mess. We're the ones to suffer. The noise is constant. It's screaming and shouting. We get cars turning up doing god knows what at all times.

'It's suspicious. We police the site ourselves. We've seen some people climb in, God knows why.'

Mrs Clarke-Holland is unsurprised by the lack of interest in her house, asking: 'Who would want to live opposite that? It's so sad.

'They even defecate in the fields around here. We've done the right thing and worked hard and now we have a property that basically isn't worth what we put in.

'We didn't get a single viewer. Who would want to live 20 yards from an asylum centre? Our house now has no value.'

Couple Simone Sutcliffe, 79, and partner John Adams, 78, also live opposite and are unhappy with the expansion plans.
