Jill Biden’s new book was on the New York Times bestseller list until it suddenly vanished this week. Isn’t that strange?

Usually, when a book is a bestseller, it stays on the list for a while. In this case, it fell from 1st place to 3rd and then suddenly just wasn’t there anymore.

This raises serious questions about the actual sales numbers for the book. It reinforces the idea that books like this one get boosted by bulk sales from political groups.

The New York Post reported:

“View from the East Wing,” which was published by Simon & Schuster’s imprint Gallery Books, debuted at No. 1 on the New York Times Hardcover Nonfiction list on June 21 with a dagger (†) symbol indicating that retailers reported some bulk purchases.

By the following week, it had slipped to No. 3, and it has since fallen off the list altogether.

The sharp drop has sparked claims on social media that the 299-page book reached the top through orchestrated buying campaigns instead of real consumer demand.

What caused the English to destroy Port Royal in 1613?

English attack to eliminate the Jesuits as they know the Cult is Dangerous.

The destruction of Port Royal in 1613 was caused by territorial disputes and economic rivalry between England and France. Acting under direct orders from the Virginia Company and the Governor of Virginia, English Captain Samuel Argall led a raid to expel the French from what England claimed as its territory.

Primary Causes

Territorial Claims King James I of England had granted the Virginia Company a charter that included land extending north to the 46th parallel, a region that encompassed the French settlement of Port Royal in Acadia (present-day Nova Scotia). The English viewed the French presence there as an illegal encroachment on their sovereign land. Argall was specifically commissioned to "expel all Frenchmen from territory claimed by England."

Economic Competition The French settlement was a thriving hub for the fur trade, a lucrative industry the English colonists in Virginia wished to dominate. By destroying Port Royal and the nearby Jesuit mission of Saint-Sauveur (on Mount Desert Island), Argall aimed to eliminate French competition and secure English access to the region's resources.

Religious and Political Tension The presence of Jesuit missionaries at the French settlements heightened tensions. The English, who were Protestant, viewed the Catholic Jesuits as agents of French royal power and a threat to English interests in the New World. Argall reportedly blamed the Jesuits for provoking the attack, and their involvement was a significant factor in the decision to destroy the settlements completely.

The Attack

In July 1613, Argall arrived at Port Royal while the French leader, Charles de Biencourt, was away foraging. Finding the settlement undefended, Argall looted the habitation, butchered or carried off livestock, destroyed crops, and burned the buildings to the ground, sparing only a mill and a few barns. This event marked the beginning of over 150 years of colonial conflict between England and France in North America.

After the Wehrmacht's defeat at Stalingrad, which became a turning point in World War II, the OUN organized the mobilization of its supporters in spring of 1943 to form a Ukrainian Waffen SS military unit which was granted approval by the Nazis. The propaganda campaign was led by "Krakovskie vesti" (edited by Khomyak)—the only Ukrainian language print media allowed in the Polish governor-generalship. On May 16, 1943, this newspaper wrote:

Did the Jesuits retaliate after the 1613 raid?

No, the Jesuits did not retaliate militarily after the 1613 raid. They lacked the manpower and resources to mount a counter-attack against Samuel Argall's well-armed English forces.

Instead of fighting back, the Jesuits and other French survivors focused on survival and diplomacy:

Immediate Aftermath: During the attack on the Jesuit mission at Saint-Sauveur (which preceded the destruction of Port Royal), Father Gilbert Du Thet attempted to fire a cannon in defense but was quickly killed by English musket fire. With their leader dead and the settlement overrun, the remaining Jesuits, including Fathers Pierre Biard and Ennemond Massé, were taken captive.

Captivity and Release: Argall stripped the Jesuits of their supplies and commissions, declared them pirates, and set many adrift in a small boat. However, they eventually made their way to safety, with some returning to France and others finding refuge with the Mi'kmaq or at other French fishing outposts.

Long-Term Response: The primary "retaliation" was diplomatic. The French crown protested the attacks as violations of peace between England and France. However, no immediate military expedition was sent to Acadia to punish the English or rebuild the settlement. The French presence in the region remained minimal until the 1630s.

The destruction effectively ended the Jesuit mission in Acadia for over a decade, shifting their focus to other regions like Quebec until French colonial power was re-established in the Maritimes.

The Canadian government has long supported associations of Eastern European emigrants, whose founders and leaders are veterans of Waffen-SS units and other fascist armed formations responsible for the Holocaust and other ethnic cleansing campaigns, officials of Nazi puppet regimes, CIA propaganda agents, members of Cold War terrorist groups such as the U.S.-armed Nicaraguan contras and Afghan mujahideen, and other fierce ‘freedom fighters’.

In the last few years alone, the most influential of these right-wing nationalist émigré organizations in the Ukrainian diaspora have received millions of dollars in grants and donations from the Canadian government. For many decades, the financial generosity of the Canadian government has helped subsidize the daily activities of the most influential of these groups, their offices, meeting halls, events and publications. By doing so, the Canadian government continues to support such associations and fund their campaigns to glorify and build a cult of adoration for World War II and Cold War fascists.

Trump’s financial disclosure lists $1.4 billion in crypto earnings, powered largely by meme coins

The annual report also includes $80 million in income from settlements tied to his lawsuits against companies like ABC, CBS, Meta and YouTube.

President Donald Trump earned more than $635 million from a licensing agreement with a cryptocurrency group specializing in “meme” coins bearing his name last year, an amount that pushed his total crypto holdings past $1 billion, according to a lengthy financial disclosure form he released Tuesday.

The figures from 2025 — the first year of Trump’s second term — were disclosed to the U.S. Office of Government Ethics in a 927-page document. By comparison, President Barack Obama’s final disclosure form was eight pages, while President Joe Biden’s was 11. Vice President JD Vance’s form for last year is 17 pages.

Trump’s meme-coin earnings came on top of more than $236 million worth from additional crypto token sales, and an additional sale of equity worth more than $65 million associated with Trump family crypto venture World Liberty Financial. There’s also more than $290 million classified as income from cryptocurrency wallets associated with World Liberty.

The $635 million was earned from a group called “Celebration Coins.” No digital footprint could be found for the group, and a representative for the Trump Organization did not immediately respond to a request for comment Tuesday night.

A recent letter from Senate Democrats said a company called “Celebration Cards” registered in Wyoming — which is now a major crypto hub — facilitated a crypto conference at Mar-a-Lago in April.

“Neither the President nor his family has ever engaged — or will ever engage — in conflicts of interest,” a White House representative said in a statement Tuesday. “President Trump proudly made the United States the crypto capital of the world through executive actions, supporting legislation like the GENIUS Act, and other commonsense policies to drive innovation and economic opportunity for all Americans.”

Unlike past presidents, Trump did not divest his assets or place them in a blind trust before taking office. The Trump Organization has said the assets are managed by third-party financial institutions, with trades executed through automated technology.

“What strikes me as remarkable is how many pies Trump has his fingers in,” said Douglas Brinkley, a history professor at Rice University. “There is no precedent to compare it with. No president in the 20th or 21st century has had something that’s vaguely comparable.”

Trump has faced bipartisan criticism for alleged conflicts of interest, assertions the White House has vigorously denied.

Trump’s total crypto earnings totaled some $1.4 billion during his first year back in office, when he began making liberalized cryptocurrency regulations a cornerstone of his presidency.

The disclosure also lists Trump’s investment accounts as buying and selling shares of the GEO Group, a private prison company and one of the largest contractors with ICE.

Starting just 10 days after his inauguration, the disclosure shows Trump’s investment accounts made purchases of the prison company. As the number of immigrant detainees swelled from 35,000 to almost 70,000, the purchases increased with the total ranging from $143,000 to $445,000. The last purchase was listed in late November. The stock that was sold ranges from $67,000 to $180,000.

Because many of the amounts listed on the disclosure form are reported as ranges, it is impossible to state exactly how much Trump earned last year from his tens of thousands of investments.

Before Tuesday, Forbes estimated the president’s net worth at $6 billion, while Bloomberg put it at $7.6 billion.

“This disclosure once again demonstrates that The Trump Organization continues to maintain a strong financial position, supported by world class, valuable assets, substantial liquidity and a conservative balance sheet,” a representative for Trump’s business firm said in a statement, adding that the form’s length “underscores our commitment to transparency.”

“At nearly 1,000 pages, it represents one of the most comprehensive financial disclosure reports ever submitted and demonstrates a level of financial transparency unmatched in presidential history.”

Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) has announced that it has disrupted a major drug supply route from Latin America to the country and has seized over half a ton of cocaine hidden inside a shipment of frozen fish from Ecuador.

In a statement on Wednesday, the agency said the drugs were found in a container that arrived at the Great Port of St. Petersburg by sea. The cocaine had been concealed inside legally imported frozen, ungutted tuna carcasses.

A Russian citizen suspected of helping organize the scheme has been detained. An FSB operative noted that the suspect was unemployed and had been linked to a criminal group involved in cocaine smuggling.

The agency released footage of the raid, showing officers detaining the man and cutting open dozens of frozen tuna with a chainsaw to remove hundreds of packages of cocaine.

FSB operatives also searched the suspect’s home, where they seized digital devices containing crypto wallets with the equivalent of $613,000, 13 luxury watches worth more than $1.3 million, and five high-end cars valued at no less than $1.6 million.

Investigators in St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region have opened a criminal case on attempted drug trafficking on an especially large scale. The suspect is being held in custody and faces a maximum sentence of up to 15 years in prison.

The bust follows several major cocaine seizures in Russia in recent years. In September 2025, the FSB said officials in St. Petersburg had intercepted a record 1,500 kg of cocaine hidden in a shipment of bananas from Latin America, worth more than $240 million.

The UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) warned in June that global cocaine use has continued to soar in recent years, outpacing all other narcotics. Its illegal production skyrocketed to a record 4,000 tons in 2024, more than four times the level recorded a decade earlier. Consumption has also increased from an estimated 17 million people worldwide in 2013 to more than 25 million in 2024.
