r/China - What's up with the air quality in China recently?
I've noticed air quality has been awful in China these past days, numbers in Shandong look even worse than the winters I experienced there a decade ago, it would hover more around 150 than 200 back then. Unlike the 2010s, however, I haven't seen any reporting about it. Like, I get why domestic media would want to steer clear from the topic, but also international reporting on is is almost non-existant. Does anyone have an explanation? The last couple of years ago, it really seemed like progress happened, so where is this coming from now, just environmental standards not being enforced anymore or what?
