Law Students Threatened for Not Attending Mandated DEI Training: Report

Students at Southern Illinois University’s Simmons Law School were reportedly threatened with a “letter of reprimand” that would be placed in their permanent file if they did not attend a mandatory diversity, equity, and inclusion training session.
The reprimand letter could also be shared with the state bar, according to a report from the Daily Signal published earlier this week.
“Those who cannot attend in person typically fulfill the make-up expectations without issue,” an associate dean wrote to one of the students who didn’t wish to participate.
“If a student misses a required session and does not complete a make-up within a reasonable period of time, we typically issue a letter of reprimand,” the dean added.
The email was obtained by a parental rights group called Defending Education.
After multiple Freedom of Information Act requests, Defending Education obtained the message, which also said that the “letter is placed in the student’s permanent file and would be shared with the bar if the file is requested as part of the character and fitness process.”
In addition, other emails revealed that the university is teaching students that the law, and legal field, can be “racially discriminatory.” Continue…

They sought $10 billion in damages.

Five people were killed, including two children, and more than 40 were injured in a bus crash on I-95 early Friday morning.
Multiple vehicles were involved in the crash after the bus driver failed to slow down in time and crashed into a Suburban.
The Suburban got pushed into an Acura SUV.
“The Acura caught fire, police said. Four of the five people killed were in the Acura: a 45-year-old man, a 44-year-old woman, a 13-year-old girl and a 7-year-old boy, all from Greenfield, Massachusetts, police said,” ABC News reported.
“The fifth victim killed, a 25-year-old woman, was in the Suburban, police said,” the outlet reported.
“Forty-four people were taken to hospitals, including three with critical injuries, police said,” ABC reported.
According to Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, the driver of the bus doesn’t even speak English.
The driver obtained his CDL in Democrat-run New York in 2024.

The Assembly of First Nations is demanding Ottawa formally consult chiefs on all future international trade agreements, arguing First Nations must have a direct say in treaties that affect their lands, economies and resources.
In a submission to the Senate foreign affairs committee, the Assembly said the federal government has an obligation to involve First Nations in negotiating and implementing foreign trade and spend agreements.
“First Nations have engaged in trade since time immemorial,” the submission stated.
“First Nations hold an inherent right to self-determination including policies, regulations and legislation that dictate their participation and engagement in inter-nation, international and internal trade.”
The Assembly’s demands were tied to Parliament’s April 28 passage of Bill C-13, legislation implementing Britain’s entry into the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership.
The organization argued future trade deals should not proceed without direct engagement with First Nations leadership.
“Canada has the obligation to consult with First Nations before adopting and implementing legislation impacting First Nations people, lands, territories and other resources,” the Assembly wrote.
The submission also claimed international trade agreements present opportunities to expand economic inclusion and self-determination for First Nations communities.
No Canadian Parliament has ever required formal First Nations approval before ratifying foreign treaties.
However, the Senate foreign affairs committee has previously criticized Ottawa’s handling of international trade negotiations as lacking transparency and public scrutiny.
In a 2017 report, the committee urged the federal government to provide clearer explanations of the economic costs and benefits tied to individual trade agreements.
“The government announces, ‘We’re in negotiations with country X,’ then a year or two later, here’s the agreement, and it’s usually take it or leave it,” Sen. Percy Downe said at the time.
“Nothing can be changed. You can’t change a comma.”
Downe also warned many groups claiming to have been consulted were often excluded from meaningful discussions until negotiations were effectively complete.
The committee’s report, Free Trade Agreements: A Tool For Economic Prosperity, argued Ottawa too often assumes Canadians automatically understand the benefits of international trade.
The report warned that growing protectionist sentiment around the world exposed weaknesses in Canada’s trade policy and public communications.
Senators also called on cabinet to publicly disclose the expected economic, labour, environmental and social impacts of future trade deals.
The committee further recommended Ottawa create worker adjustment and sector support programs alongside trade agreements to offset potential economic harm caused by foreign competition.

The flight departed from O’Hare International Airport in Chicago on Friday evening and landed in Madison, Wisconsin, instead of Minneapolis for security reasons surrounding the out-of-control passenger.
Flight tracking data showed that the plane landed approximately 90 minutes after takeoff.

This is supposedly part of an effort to halt the spread of several serious mosquito-borne illnesses, including West Nile virus, St. Louis encephalitis, dengue, Zika, chikungunya, and yellow fever.
The Google researchers particularly focused on West Nile and St. Louis encephalitis. The former is the leading mosquito-borne disease in the US and is widespread in California amongst local bird and mosquito populations.

The ultimate claim to victimhood is the claim that a group of people are "refugees" from mass persecution or "genocide." The political left covets this victim status more than anything else because, within first world liberal societies, refugees have immediate political capital and access to easy money. Within every leftist narrative there is an agenda for power and a life without adult responsibility.
It is perhaps ironic that thousands of progressive activists and LGBT advocates are leaving red states over imaginary oppression after they spent years attacking conservatives for escaping blue states over very real medical tyranny. At least conservatives never called themselves "refugees."
Leftists specifically believe their rights are being violated in red states because conservative governments won't allow them to mutilate their children with hormone therapy and sex change surgeries. This nightmare trend, which is increasingly proven by science to have a detrimental effect on the minds and health of the people who undergo gender therapies, is still heavily protected in leftist havens like Seattle. Northern Israel has come under heavy attack from Hezbollah on Saturday, after this past week a full-scale war has resumed in southern Lebanon, which even saw the resumption of Israeli airstrikes on Beirut's southern suburbs, much further to the north.
Even while Tel Aviv maintains the illusion of a ceasefire with Lebanon (as in, its government and national army), there is no ceasefire with Iran-linked Hezbollah, following weeks of sporadic drones being sent on northern Israel, as well as troop positions of invading IDF forces.
The Saturday drone and missile waves hit multiple locations in and around the Galilee area, with regional media reporting that at least eight missiles were launched at Israeli positions in the initial salvo, one of which struck a site in Kiryat Shmona city.
Hezbollah subsequently announced it had carried out 22 military operations against Israeli army positions and equipment within the prior 24 hours. It framed this as a revenge operation for Israeli attacks on civilian centers in Lebanon. Continue…
