As he revealed in the preface to the 25th anniversary edition of The Silence of the Lambs novel in 2013, Harris was a 23-year-old journalist in the early 1960s when he visited the Nuevo León state prison in Monterrey, Mexico, to report on an American convicted of murder named Dykes Askew Simmons. Simmons, with his unnerving eyes and “bad Z-plasty repairing a cleft lip,” certainly fit the profile of a killer, but Harris found himself more intrigued by the doctor who’d tended to the American following a botched prison escape.

Harris met “Dr. Salazar” in the prison medical office, describing him as a “small, lithe man with dark red hair” and “a certain elegance about him.” After a few nondescript answers, the doctor sprung to life as he probed the reporter for his thoughts on Simmons’ disfigured appearance.

“Were the murdered people attractive?” Salazar asked. “Yes,” Harris answered. Was the doctor insinuating that the beautiful victims had pushed Simmons into a violent rage?

“Certainly not,” was the doctor’s reply. “But early torment makes torment easily… imagined.

“You are a journalist, Mr. Harris,” he continued. “How would you put that in your journal? How do you treat the fear of torment in journalese? Might you say something snappy about torment, like ‘It puts the hell in hello!’?”

Later that day, Harris was surprised to learn that Dr. Salazar wasn’t a prison employee, as he assumed, but a convict facing a lengthy stay behind bars. “The doctor is a murderer,” the warden told him. “As a surgeon, he could package his victim in a surprisingly small box. He will never leave this place. He is insane.”

According to profiles in The Times of the United Kingdom and The Latin Times, the “Salazar” of Harris’ story was known by the real name of Alfredo Ballí Treviño. He was born into a prominent family in Méndez, Tamaulipas. His strict father pushed the boy and his siblings to excel in their studies.

As a medical intern in 1959, Ballí Treviño got into an argument with his lover, Jesús Castillo Rangel, due to either money problems or his own insistence on marrying a woman. The would-be doctor killed his boyfriend, carefully sliced him into pieces to fit into a box, and attempted to bury the box on a ranch.

His handiwork was soon uncovered, however, and Ballí Treviño was sentenced to death in 1961 for his “crime of passion.” He was also said to be a suspect in the killing and dismemberment of hitchhikers, though those accusations were seemingly never proven.

While in prison, the “Werewolf of Nuevo León” reportedly continued to display a deft sartorial touch with his light-colored suits, dark shades, and gold Rolex watch. He also maintained an informal medical practice by tending to other prisoners and visiting townspeople.

His sentence commuted after 20 years behind bars, Ballí Treviño returned to his old neighborhood in Monterrey to treat the sick and the poor, often for free. He agreed to sit for a newspaper interview in 2008, months before his death from prostate cancer, but refused to talk about his violent past, saying, “I don’t want to wake up my ghosts.”

Coates sighed, exasperated, while Rue shook his head. “If you could speak to the former president what would you tell him?” Coates asked.

“We need help, not hate,” Rue repeated. He criticized lawmakers who carelessly cast the city of Springfield in a negative light.

“We have a beautiful city, and we need, we need the national stage to pay attention to what their words are doing to cities like ours,” Rue added. “We don’t need this pushback that is hurting our citizens and hurting our community—I would say that to anybody who would take a mic and say those things.”

After doing research on Clark County website this is what I found:

Mayor Rob Rue seems to own quite a bit of rental properties in Springfield under the name LITTLETON PROPERTIES OF SPRINGFIELD LLC, images attached. He directly owns these properties based on a County business search.

If Mayor Rue is renting out his properties to illegals the public should know. He should recuse himself from any vote on the Commission because he directly benefits financially from any federal funds received to support the illegals.

the shareholders of a development-stage, public Canadian airline company,

Canada Jetlines, Inc., GlobalX’s key investors and executives merged their

holding company with Jetlines, successfully completed a public share

REPORT: Springfield city leaders have been sounding the alarm about their housing crisis for months as residents claim they are being kicked out of their homes to accommodate Haitians.

The media has tried claiming there is no housing crisis however city leaders including Springfield City Manager Bryan Heck have been desperately begging for help for months, long before the Springfield story blew up.

Heck sent the following letter to the Senate Banking Committee in July.

"Springfield’s Haitian population has increased to 15,000 – 20,000 over the last four years…putting a significant strain on our resources and ability to provide ample housing for all of our residents. Despite 2000 additional housing units set to come online over the next three to five years, this is still not enough."

JD Vance even raised awareness on the issue during a Senate Banking Committee hearing with Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell.

"Given the current low inventory of affordable housing, the inflow of new immigrants in some geographic areas could result in upward pressure on rents, as additional housing supply may take time to materialize," Vance warned.

"With labor markets remaining tight, wage growth has been elevated at around or above 4%, still higher than the pace consistent with our 2% inflation goal, given trend productivity growth.'"

During a recent city meeting, one resident said that landlords were kicking out longtime tenants to house Haitians so they could charge "triple the rent."

This is one of the biggest issues that Trump needs to squash when he gets into office. The Biden administration's current rhetoric is dangerous. Rue is the president and general manager of Littleton & Rue Funeral Home and Crematory.

He ran for his first elected office in 2017, winning a seat on the Springfield City Commission. He is also part of the Springfield Rotary and was a past board member of the Greater Springfield Partnership.

Rue is embarking on his second term as commissioner and first as assistant mayor. He said that he had sought reelection because he believes that the city has made many steps and he wanted to continue to be part of the decision-making process.

As assistant mayor, Rue said that he will be able to learn more from longtime mayor Copeland.

Moving forward, Rue said that he wants to focus on bringing economic opportunities to Springfield as well as work with public and private organizations in order to save tax payers money.
