Hunter Biden tried to blame his missing handgun on Mexican workers at a Delaware supermarket he smeared as 'shady' and 'prolly illegal', according to a 2018 police report published for the first time this week.

The First Son made the controversial comments in October 2018 while being interviewed by state police looking for his handgun and bullets after his lover and brother's widow Hallie Biden threw them in a public trash can at Janssens Supermarket in Wilmington, across the road from a high school.

The police search for the gun led to them obtaining Hunter's gun purchase form, in which he lied about not being an addict – the criminal charge that he now faces in Delaware federal court. The trial is due to start on June 3.

The debacle was first revealed by news site Politico in 2021. But the police report, with all its embarrassing details, has now been published for the first time last among pre-trial filings by Delaware prosecutors.

It shows Delaware State Police wrote up Hallie for 'stealing' his Colt Cobra .38 handgun out of his truck and dumping it in the Janssens trash can on October 23 2018.

One officer wrote in his report that he interviewed Hunter at the supermarket later that day about who might have fished his gun out of the trash.

Hunter told the officer, Sergeant Vincent Clemons: 'they have some shady people working at the market' and gestured at two Mexican store workers adding that they were 'prolly illegal' – then brought up that his father is Joe Biden.

Hunter told Clemons that Hallie threw away the gun because she was scared he would kill himself.

He denied he was suicidal, but whined that 'he has been living in a nightmare' and told Clemons 'to put myself in his shoes, and try to feel what it would be like to fall in love with [redacted, his brother's widow Hallie] and then have everyone look at him.'

The report also says police got CCTV of Hallie appearing to dump the gun.

Clemons's report says cops were worried because the supermarket is across the street from a high school 'and we didn't need a student to find the weapon'.

Intriguingly, the police report confirms that the FBI were involved in the case, helping go through the trash looking for the gun.

And Hunter's texts, obtained by DailyMail.com from his abandoned laptop, suggest that a senior law enforcement officer who worked with the FBI was creating a back channel to the official investigation and recommending ways the Bidens could avoid getting in trouble with police.

Detective John Penrod is named in the police report as 'DSP JTTF FBI Task Force', an acronym for Delaware State Police Joint Terrorism Task Forces. According to the FBI, JTTFs consist of multiple agencies and work out of FBI offices.

Amid the incident, on October 23, 2018 Hunter texted Hallie: 'And Hallie John Penrod: 'Hallie have David call if something like this ever happens again (implying – next time Hunter f**ks Up)'.'

'David' is a reference to David I Walsh, the son of Joe Biden's former law partner and decades-long friend David Walsh Sr. Texts on the laptop show Hunter was jealous and paranoid that Hallie was sleeping with Walsh Jr.

List of Grocery Stores and Growers that Use Apeel Food Coating that Is Backed by Bill Gates

A health researcher made a list of stores and growers and their policies around using Apeel’s Edipeel (used on conventional produce) and Organipeel (used on organic produce) food coatings. He wrote that as of May 12, 2024, Apeel’s coatings have only been commercially applied on apples, cucumbers, avocados, asparagus, limes, lemons, grapefruits, mandarins, mangoes, and oranges. The coating is odorless, tasteless, and clear, so there is no way to tell when it is used. The vast majority of grocery store produce is not treated with Apeel. To remove as much Apeel as possible, use vinegar or baking soda (not both) and a produce brush or cotton/hemp towel to scrub the produce.

The following list accurately reflects the disclosures and policies of growers and grocery retailers on selling produce treated with Apeel’s Edipeel (used on conventional produce) and Organipeel (used on organic produce) food coatings. Natural Grocers: Natural Grocers issued a public corporate statement saying they do not carry any produce or items that have been treated with Apeel’s food coatings.

Sprouts Farmers Markets: Sprouts recently made a decision to not carry any produce that’s treated with Apeel. They annnounced this internally to employees, but have not made a public statement or policy yet.

Costco: Costco partnered with Apeel as far back as 2018 but recently stopped carrying any produce treated with Apeel. Their corporate produce department said they have no plans to ever sell produce treated with Apeel again. The Limoneira lemons they carry are not treated with Apeel.

Publix: Publix will not purchase any produce that’s been treated with Apeel’s food coatings.

H-E-B: H-E-B does not use any items treated with Apeel in the products they manufacture. They are not actively seeking out or requesting items treated with Apeel. The responsibility ultimately falls on their suppliers to adhere to their requests, so there is not a 100% guarantee.

Central Market: The Texas based gourmet grocery store is owned by H-E-B and shares their exact policy on Apeel.

Whole Foods: Whole Foods would not give a clear or straightforward answer on if they source produce treated with Apeel. I spoke to three produce departments, three customer service representatives, and three corporate offices. One corporate office said Apeel’s Edipeel and Organipeel food coatings meet Whole Food’s safety standards. I went and looked at the produce and could not find any items treated with Apeel.

Trader Joes: Trader Joes no longer sources any produce treated with Apeel’s food coatings. They have not released a public statement or policy. I requested that they do this.

Jimbo’s: The San Diego Organic Grocery chain publicly states that they do not carry or accept any produce treated with Apeel.

Azure Standard: Azure Standard (www.azurestandard.com) does not use or carry any products containing Apeel.

Kimberton Whole Foods: The local PA health foods grocery store does not carry any produce that has been treated with Apeel.

ALDI: Aldi does not have a policy on Apeel and no employees are able to speak on it. They source produce from brands (West Pak & Limoneira) that use Apeel, but it is not clear whether the items they carry are treated with Apeel’s coatings.

Kroger: Kroger claims that produce items sold under their own label are not treated with Apeel food coatings. However, Kroger is not able to speak about or certify other produce brands that they carry. This policy applies to all of their locations and all of their subsidiaries as well including Baker’s, City Market, Dillons, Food 4 Less, Foods Co, Fred Meyer, Fry’s, Gerbes, Jay C Food Store, King Soopers, Mariano’s, Metro Market, Pay Less Super Markets, Pick’n, Save, QFC, Ralphs, Ruler, and Smith’s Food and Drug. Kroger confirmed that other produce brands they carry are treated with Apeel. Kroger could not verify if their Simple Truth private label is treated with Apeel.

Albertsons: Known to carry some produce items with Apeel.

Target: Target carries produce treated with Apeel including avocados, cucumbers, asparagus, apples, and citrus fruit.

Green Aurora over Sweden

It was bright and green and stretched across the sky. This striking aurora display was captured in 2016 just outside of Östersund, Sweden. Six photographic fields were merged to create the featured panorama spanning almost 180 degrees. Particularly striking aspects of this aurora include its sweeping arc-like shape and its stark definition. Lake Storsjön is seen in the foreground, while several familiar constellations and the star Polaris are visible through the aurora, far in the background. Coincidently, the aurora appears to avoid the Moon visible on the lower left. The aurora appeared a day after a large hole opened in the Sun's corona, allowing particularly energetic particles to flow out into the Solar System. The green color of the aurora is caused by oxygen atoms recombining with ambient electrons high in the Earth's atmosphere.

NAR: Existing-Home Sales Decreased to 4.14 million SAAR in April

Existing-home sales receded in April, according to the National Association of REALTORS®. All four major U.S. regions posted month-over-month declines. Year-over-year, sales decreased in the Northeast, Midwest and South but increased in the West.

Total existing-home sales – completed transactions that include single-family homes, townhomes, condominiums and co-ops – slid 1.9% from March to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 4.14 million in April. Year-over-year, sales fell 1.9% (down from 4.22 million in April 2023).

Total housing inventory registered at the end of April was 1.21 million units, up 9% from March and 16.3% from one year ago (1.04 million). Unsold inventory sits at a 3.5-month supply at the current sales pace, up from 3.2 months in March and 3.0 months in April 2023. Sales in April (4.14 million SAAR) were down 1.9% from the previous month and were 1.9% below the April 2023 sales rate. According to the NAR, inventory increased to 1.21 million in April from 1.11 million the previous month.

Headline inventory is not seasonally adjusted, and inventory usually decreases to the seasonal lows in December and January, and peaks in mid-to-late summer.

Amidst all the concerns surrounding machine learning and how artificial intelligence may impact society, one sailor appears to have found a real-world use for harnessing the polarizing tech.

Posting on Navy Reddit last month, one user — known simply as Senor_Rico — claiming to be a sailor reported that he had tamed the wild and unruly AI beast by using ChatGPT to generate his annual performance evaluation.

Completing such documents, also known as an enlisted evaluation report or “brag sheet,” can consume a sailor’s precious time while a swarm of daily tasks continue to mount.

But Senor_Rico claims the ChatGPT application will allow sailors to “feed it a brag sheet” and watch a fresh, automated eval roll off the cyber line, sparkling and ready to submit.

It took two weeks to train ChatGPT to write a brag sheet, Senior_Rico wrote, adding that the AI was first fed older evaluations in order to learn.

Once up to speed, the program, according to the purported sailor, “will turn your brag sheet into a full eval write-up.”

“This is great,” one Reddit user wrote in response. “I’ll be referring my homies to this.”

ChatGPT was developed by homies at the company OpenAI, an organization later acquired by homies at Microsoft.

The software allows users to feed questions or information to a chat bot and receive a polished report in return.

China's 'Shock' Statement: Palestinians Have Right To Use 'Armed Force' Against Israel

China has backed the right of the Palestinian people to use armed force to combat Israel's occupation of their land, calling it an "an inalienable right well founded in international law".

The comments on Thursday were made by the Chinese ambassador to the UN, Zhang Jun, during the fourth day of public hearings held by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague, Netherlands.

Representatives of 52 countries are addressing the ICJ on Israel's decades-long occupation of Palestinian land.

Beijing’s envoy said there were "various people (who) freed themselves from colonial rule" and they could use "all available means, including armed struggle".

He described the Palestinian use of armed resistance as legitimate and not an act of terrorism.

"The struggle waged by peoples for their liberation, right to self-determination, including armed struggle against colonialism, occupation, aggression, domination against foreign forces should not be considered terror acts," Zhang Jun told the court.

In his speech, Jun criticized Israeli policies, characterizing them as “oppression that has severely undermined and impeded the exercises and full realization of the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination".

The ICJ’s public hearings, which will be held until February 26, come after a UN General Assembly resolution requesting an ICJ advisory opinion.

The number of states participating in the oral proceedings is the highest of any case since the ICJ's establishment in 1945 and is separate to the more publicized genocide case brought by South Africa. A panel of 15 judges are expected to take about six months to deliberate before issuing an advisory opinion.

Besides China, other countries scheduled to participate in the hearings include Hungary, France, South Africa and Egypt.

International bodies, including the Arab League, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the African Union will also take part. Israel will not participate but has sent written observations to the court.

In the early modern period, a court Jew, or court factor (German: Hofjude, Hoffaktor; Yiddish: היף איד, romanized: Hoyf Id, קאַורט פאַקטאַר, Kourt Faktor), was a Jewish banker who handled the finances of, or lent money to, European,

mainly German, royalty and nobility. In return for their services, court Jews gained social privileges, including, in some cases, being granted noble status.

Examples of what would be later called court Jews emerged in the High Middle Ages[a] when the royalty, the nobility, and the church borrowed money from money changers or employed them as financiers.

Among the most notable of these were Aaron of Lincoln and Vivelin of Strasbourg.

Jewish financiers could use their family connections to provide their sponsors with finance, food, arms, ammunition, gold, and precious metals.[citation needed]

The rise of the absolute monarchies in Central Europe brought many Jews, mostly of Ashkenazi origin, into the position of negotiating loans for the various courts.

They could amass personal fortunes and gain political and social influence. However, the court Jew had social connections and influence in the Christian world mainly through the Christian nobility and church.

Due to the precarious position of Jews, some nobles could ignore their debts. If the sponsoring noble died, his Jewish financier could face exile or execution.

The most famous example of this occurred in Württemberg when, after the death of his sponsor Charles Alexander in 1737, Joseph Süß Oppenheimer was put on trial and finally executed.[1]

In an effort to avoid such fate, some court bankers in the late 18th century—such as Samuel Bleichröder, Mayer Amschel Rothschild, or Aron Elias Seligmann—successfully detached their businesses from these courts

and established what eventually developed into full-fledged banks.[2]

Prohibited from nearly every other trade, some Jews began to occupy an economic niche as moneylenders in the Middle Ages. Only they were allowed to take interest on loans,

since—while the Church condemned usury universally—canon law was only applied to Christians and not to Jews. Eventually, a sizable sector of the Jewish community were engaged in financial occupations,

and the community was a financially highly successful part of the medieval economy.[3][4] The religious restrictions on moneylending had inadvertently created a source of monopoly rents,

causing profits associated with moneylending to be higher than they otherwise would have been.[5]

By most parameters, the standard of living of the Jewish community in Early Medieval period was at least equal to that of the lower nobility.[6]

However, despite this economic prosperity, the community was not safe: religious hostility increased to the extent that it manifested itself in the form of massacres and expulsions,

NASA Tool Gets Ready to Image Faraway Planets

A technology demo on the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope will help increase the variety of distant planets scientists can directly image.

The Roman Coronagraph Instrument on NASA’s Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope will help pave the way in the search for habitable worlds outside our solar system by testing new tools that block starlight, revealing planets hidden by the glare of their parent stars.

The technology demonstration recently shipped from NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Southern California to the agency’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, where it has joined the rest of the space observatory in preparation for launch by May 2027.

Before its cross-country journey, the Roman Coronagraph underwent the most complete test of its starlight-blocking abilities yet — what engineers call “digging the dark hole.” In space, this process will enable astronomers to observe light directly from planets around other stars, or exoplanets.

Once demonstrated on Roman, similar technologies on a future mission could enable astronomers to use that light to identify chemicals in an exoplanet’s atmosphere, including ones that potentially indicate the presence of life.

Let the Testing Begin

For the dark hole test, the team placed the coronagraph in a sealed chamber designed to simulate the cold, dark vacuum of space. Using lasers and special optics, they replicated the light from a star as it would look when observed by the Roman telescope. When the light reaches the coronagraph, the instrument uses small circular obscurations called masks to effectively block out the star, like a car visor blocking the Sun or the Moon blocking the Sun during a total solar eclipse. This makes fainter objects near the star easier to see.

Coronagraphs with masks are already flying in space, but they can’t detect an Earth-like exoplanet. From another star system, our home planet would appear approximately 10 billion times dimmer than the Sun, and the two are relatively close to one another. So trying to directly image Earth would be like trying to see a speck of bioluminescent algae next to a lighthouse from 3,000 miles (about 5,000 kilometers) away. With previous coronagraphic technologies, even a masked star’s glare overwhelms an Earth-like planet.

The Roman Coronagraph will demonstrate techniques that can remove more unwanted starlight than past space coronagraphs by using several movable components. These moving parts will make it the first “active” coronagraph to fly in space. Its main tools are two deformable mirrors, each only 2 inches (5 centimeters) in diameter and backed by more than 2,000 tiny pistons that move up and down. The pistons work together to change the shape of the deformable mirrors so that they can compensate for the unwanted stray light that spills around the edges of the masks.

The deformable mirrors also help correct for imperfections in the Roman telescope’s other optics. Although they are too small to affect Roman’s other highly precise measurements, the imperfections can send stray starlight into the dark hole. Precise changes made to each deformable mirror’s shape, imperceptible to the naked eye, compensate for these imperfections.

“The flaws are so small and have such a minor effect that we had to do over 100 iterations to get it right,” said Feng Zhao, deputy project manager for the Roman Coronagraph at JPL.

“It’s kind of like when you go to see an optometrist and they put different lenses up and ask you, ‘Is this one better? How about this one?’ And the coronagraph performed even better than we’d hoped.”

During the test, the readouts from the coronagraph’s camera show a doughnut-shaped region around the central star that slowly gets darker as the team directs more starlight away from it — hence the nickname “digging the dark hole.”

In space, an exoplanet lurking in this dark region would slowly appear as the instrument does its work with its deformable mirrors.
