NZ Protesters in 90% vaccinated nation demonstrate against Covid-19 curbs

Several thousand people backed by a gang of motorcyclists have marched through New Zealand's capital Wellington to decry mandatory Coivd-19 jabs and lockdowns in the country, which has reached its 90% fully vaccinated milestone.

The rally on Thursday gathered around 3,000 protesters, according to estimates by local media. The crowd of mostly unmasked demonstrators marched from the central business district to the country's parliament, known as the Beehive, where they staged a rally.

The procession, which had been headed by dozens of motorcyclists, carried signs reading: ‘Freedom over fear’, ‘Lockdowns destroy lives’, and ‘Kiwis are not lab rats’, among others.

At least 50 officers were deployed to maintain order outside the parliament, which the local media described as a “strong police presence.”

Judge to take unpaid leave over family's comments

A judge in Louisiana is taking a leave of absence after a video was leaked of people using racial slurs inside her house. The video was reportedly filmed shortly after a foiled burglary attempt.

Lafayette City Court Judge Michelle Odinet is taking “interim leave without pay,” her lawyer, Dane Ciolino, told the media on Thursday.

“She is humiliated, embarrassed and sorry for what she’s done and the trouble she’s caused to the community,” Ciolino said.The judge has faced criticism and calls to step down since a video emerged of people casually using racist slurs at her home.

A burglar broke into two cars parked at Odinet’s driveway early Saturday morning, but was “quickly caught by the victim,” according to a police report, cited in the media. The suspect, a 59-year-old black man, was arrested and is currently being kept in Lafayette Parish jail on a $10,000 bond, police said.

In a video uploaded on social media, several people can be heard repeatedly saying “n***er” and laughing as they appear to watch security camera footage of the attempted burglary. It is not clear who used the slurs. A person heard in the video also appeared to have compared the suspect to a “roach.”

Odinet said at the time that her mental state was “fragile” due to the burglary. “I was a wreck and am still unable to sleep,” she said.

The judge claimed that she was given “a sedative” at the time the video was filmed. “I have zero recollection of the video and the disturbing language used during it,” Odinet said. “I am deeply sorry and ask for your forgiveness and understanding as my family and I deal with the emotional aftermath of this armed burglary.”

Michael Toussaint, the president of Lafayette’s NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) chapter, called for Odinet’s “immediate and uncompromising resignation.”

Biden judicial nominee Dale Ho said Senate, Electoral College are 'anti-democratic' institutions: 2018 video

A Biden judicial nominee is making headlines after a video from 2018 surfaced in which he makes the claim that the United States Senate and Electoral College are "anti-democratic."

Dale Ho, President Joe Biden's nominee for the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, has previously been accused by GOP senators of showing "open contempt for the Constitution." Video of a speech he gave at the 2018 National Civic Leadership Training Summit is likely to affirm that charge in the minds of Senate Republicans.

"We had obviously lots of practices that are anti-democratic, that entrench in some ways minority rule in this country, and I'm talking about things like, you know, the Senate, the Electoral College, and the maldistribution of political power that results from those institutions," said Ho, who is the director of the American Civil Liberties Union's voting rights project.

He also said that the United States should change its laws to make "voting easier" and that "long-standing barriers" such as "felon disenfranchisement" strip "the right to vote from people because of a criminal conviction."

Ho, who was nominated for a lifetime appointment to an unelected office, came under fire from Republicans during his confirmation hearing earlier this month for a series of controversial statements he made on social media during the Trump administration.

Republicans brought up several tweets he posted criticizing GOP lawmakers including Sens. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), Mike Lee (R-Utah), and Tom Cotton (R-Ark.), each of whom serve on the Judiciary Committee and are overseeing his nomination.

“I very much regret the tone that I’ve taken on social media from time to time, particularly if it’s given anyone the impression that I wouldn’t be impartial,” Ho told lawmakers at the hearing.

Lee made a point of bringing up a tweet in which Ho suggested Republicans would use a Supreme Court majority to stay in power if the "Electoral College, Senate malapportionment and extreme gerrymandering" were not enough.

Ho said he was referring to news reports in 2020 of states potentially appointing their own presidential electors to overturn the election, but Lee said his tweet showed "open contempt for the Constitution" and was disqualifying for a potential federal judge.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) also grilled Ho about writings in which Ho said a colleague once asked him if he works as a voting rights lawyer because he wants to help people or because "you hate conservatives." Ho said the point of that question was to highlight how "anger" can be a "tremendous source of power."

Shocking Study Out of Columbia University Suggests Deaths Post COVID Jab Could Be 400,000

A study, which has yet to be fully published conducted by Dr. Spiro P. Pantazatos, an Assistant Professor of Clinical Neurobiology (Psychiatry) at Columbia University and Research Scientist at the New York State Psychiatric Institute, analyzes the publicly available data on vaccine adverse reactions and comes to a startling conclusion. The authors found that deaths of people dying from the vaccination could total in the hundreds of thousands.

Last week, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released new data showing a total of 946,463 reports of adverse events following COVID vaccines were submitted between Dec. 14, 2020, and Dec. 3, 2021, to the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS).

This most recent dats included a total of 19,886 reports of deaths and 150,946 reports of serious injuries, including deaths, during the same time period. While these numbers are certainly shocking and cause for concern and investigation, Dr. Pantazatos and his colleague, Herve Seligmann paint a far more bleak picture.

Before going any further, as not to set off the “fact checkers” it is important to point out that just because data is submitted to the CDC through VAERS, this does not in anyway mean that these reactions are related to the COVID-19 vaccine.

In fact, immediately after reporting these historically and utterly shocking numbers, the CDC reassures us that “a review of available clinical information, including death certificates, autopsy, and medical records has not established a causal link to COVID-19 vaccines.”

“One of the main limitations of VAERS data is that it cannot determine if the vaccine caused the reported adverse event,” reads the CDC’s website. “This limitation has caused confusion in the publicly available data from VAERS WONDER, specifically regarding the number of reported deaths. There have been instances where people have misinterpreted reports of deaths following vaccination as deaths caused by the vaccines; that is not accurate.”

Despite this disclaimer on the CDC’s website, however, the researchers in the study used other data outside of VAERS, along with VAERS data, pointing out that we need better numbers and that “accurate estimates of COVID vaccine-induced severe adverse event and death rates are critical for risk-benefit ratio analyses of vaccination and boosters against SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus in different age groups.”

Researchers analyzed the publicly available data from Europe, Israel, and the US and they claim to have found a correlation within five weeks of vaccination and death. In the 6 weeks post-vaccination, researchers found a negative correlation with mortality. However, according to the study, “vaccination predicted all-cause mortality 0-5 weeks post-injection in almost all age groups and with an age-related temporal pattern consistent with the US vaccine rollout.”

Using the data from the US, researchers found vaccine-induced fatality rates (VFR) of 0.04% and age-stratified vaccine-induced fatality rates within 1 month post-vaccination — suggesting that hundreds of thousands of people have died post-vaccination.

After 28,000 Kids in L.A. Refuse Vaccine, School District Forced to Postpone Jab Mandate

The Los Angeles school board on Tuesday agreed not to require children to be vaccinated against COVID-19 until next fall, pushing back a Jan. 10 deadline as thousands of students remain unvaccinated.

The Los Angeles Unified School District vaccine mandate was postponed after board members raised concerns that students in California’s largest school district could be pushed into independent study, the Los Angeles Times reported.

The decision follows a proposal on Friday announced by Interim Los Angeles Superintendent Megan K. Reilly. She couched the move as an example of the vaccination program’s success, saying that nearly 87 percent of students aged 12 and older were in compliance with the policy. The extension would give others an opportunity to also become inoculated, she said.

“This is a major milestone, and there’s still more time to get vaccinated,” Reilly said on Friday.

The district will now continue to require weekly testing of all students through the month of January. After that it will only test students who don’t have proof of vaccination.

Some 28,000 students remain unvaccinated, according to the Los Angeles Times.

“I felt like we were ending up with a situation in which those who complied would be the most negatively affected,” school board member Jackie Goldberg said, the Los Angeles Times reported. “I think we have no choice.”

“I want to tell those of you who come and … think you pushed us back. No, you didn’t. The mandate remains,” she added.

Incoming Superintendent Alberto Carvalho called the move “the right decision” during a news conference on Tuesday.

“The conditions that the board is facing today, and the policy adjustments are not, in my opinion, a reversal of decisions made,” he said.

Carvalho described the move as “an evolution of the previous board position” that recognizes what is best for students in the district.

California in October became the first state to mandate statewide COVID-19 vaccinations for schoolchildren.

“What we are announcing here today, a statewide requirement for in-person instruction for all of our children to add to a well-established list that currently includes ten vaccinations and well-established rules and regulations that have been advanced by the legislator for decades. To add to that list, the vaccination for COVID-19, we intend to do that once the FDA has fully approved the vaccine which will give us time to work with districts,” Gov. Gavin Newsom said during a press briefing on Oct. 1.

The move drew criticism from some.

Mari Barke, chair of the Orange County Board of Education, said that it should be up to parents to decide what is best for children.

“I’m certainly not proud that California is the first state to mandate this. I think parents are the best to make these types of decisions for their children, so I’m very disappointed,” Barke told The Epoch Times.

“I believe strongly in parental rights and parents knowing what’s best for their children. This vaccine has had the least testing of any vaccine. It’s not a virus that is killing lots of children unless they have severe comorbidities, and I think it’s government overreach.”

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (WDVM) — Students at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology had the opportunity to hear and learn from space professionals as part of the space force’s STEM to Space initiative.

The United States space force is celebrating its second birthday with a month long campaign and made a stop at Thomas Jefferson High School.

“If you look at what the Space for STEM does, it underpins all of that and so what better place to come to, to be inspired by the youth and hopefully give a little bit of spark for them to bring to life just how important their studies are,” said General Raymond, Chief of Space Operations, U.S. Space Force.

Students had the opportunity to participate and ask questions during the event designed to inspire students to pursue careers in space sciences and STEM.

The stem to space campaign has visited over 600 schools for far.

PM of Iraqi Kurdistan revealed as owner of $18M South Beach building

Masrour Barzani, the prime minister of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, is the secret owner of a shiny retail building at 938 Washington in the heart of South Beach, Miami, that houses a 12,000-square-foot CVS, according to a new report.

Barzani bought the $18.3 million building in 2019, according to American Prospect magazine.

His family — which has ruled the area and much of its riches for decades — has also been outed as the buyer of some California mansions.

In 2019, Variety reported that two massive Beverly Hills mansions — boasting Corinthian columns, hand-carved architectural moldings and gold leaf — totaling $47 million were bought by Barzani-linked entities to create a compound.

“They are extremely wealthy, and [they] … don’t want you to know who they are and how they got their money,” Vanity Fair reported.

CDC: Omicron Variant Rates Highest In Heavily Vaxxed New York, New Jersey

According to CDC Director Rochelle Walensky, the Omicron variant of COVID-19 is spreading faster in New York and New Jersey compared to other states. Walensky said that the new variant is estimated to account for about 3% of infections that are being genetically sequenced nationwide, with the highest rates being recorded in those two states.

“In some areas of the country, the estimates of Omicron are even higher including in New York and New Jersey, where CDC projects that omicron could represent about 13% of all cases,” Walensky said at a COVID-19 press briefing.

Experts have suggested that the case rates are likely far underreported due to the easy transmissibility of the variant. The CDC director said that Omicron is more contagious than Delta, which currently accounts for a majority of the nation’s COVID-19 cases. Omicron will likely surpass delta in the near future as cases have been doubling on a daily basis.

Despite having a higher rate of transmissibility, mild symptoms have largely been reported or recorded. Researchers in Massachusetts recently found that the new variant shares genetic code with the virus responsible for the common cold. This, according to researchers, could explain why the virus is spreading more rapidly with extremely mild symptoms. The study is currently awaiting peer review.

As for Omicron case rates, New York and New Jersey lead the nation despite high vaccination rates in both states. According to the Mayo Clinic, 70.5% of New Yorkers have received at least two-doses of a COVID-19 vaccine while New Jersey lags slightly behind at 69.5%. This puts both states among the top 10 regarding state vaccination rates, trailing only a handful of New England states and West Virginia. The CDC has previously stated that only 20% of Omicron cases have been recorded in unvaccinated individuals.

Jeff Garlin leaving ‘The Goldbergs’ after investigation into ‘abusive’ misconduct

Jeff Garlin is abruptly departing hit sitcom “The Goldbergs” following a series of misconduct allegations and a network investigation into the actor’s allegedly “abusive” behavior on set.

The bombshell exit comes several weeks after the comedian, 59, publicly revealed that he had not been fired from the long-running ABC sitcom.

According to sources close to the show, it was a mutual decision for Garlin not to return to the series, Deadline reported. Meanwhile, the comedian’s termination is effective immediately — and he will not complete his work on the remainder of the ninth season of “The Goldbergs.”

“Curb Your Enthusiasm” star Garlin, who played curmudgeonly patriarch Murray Christian Goldberg, admitted to Vanity Fair that he had been the subject of a human resources department probe over the last three years due to his on-set conduct.

“He is extremely verbally and emotionally abusive,” an anonymous “Goldbergs” employee told Deadline.

The Post has reached out to Garlin’s reps for comment on the accusations.

Meanwhile, the “Arrested Development” alum has previously dismissed his antics as silly, misunderstood gags that rubbed some cast and crew members the wrong way.

“It’s always the same thing,” lamented Garlin. “It’s about me and my silliness on set. They don’t think it’s appropriate. I do. That’s where we’re at.”

He added that he didn’t know how to “respond” to the accusations, “Because as a comedian, if somebody is offended by what I say I, all I can say is, ‘I’m sorry. OK?'”

Ukraine’s Zelensky Torches Weak Biden, E.U. Policy: Sanctions After Invasion ‘Won’t Matter’

Frustrated Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky told reporters Wednesday that the European Union and Biden administration’s tactic of threatening Russia with sanctions in the event that Moscow invades Ukraine “won’t matter to anyone.”

Zelensky, in Brussels to shore up support for Kyiv in light of a growing Russian military presence on Ukraine’s eastern border, has repeatedly expressed dismay with the European Union and President Joe Biden over their supportive policies towards the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, a project that would essentially give Russia unimpeded access to the central European market. Russia, otherwise a weak economic power, leverages its significant energy market to influence Europe, and the Ukrainian government insists it will essentially have a stranglehold on Europe if Nord Stream 2 becomes a dominant form of transporting gas to Germany, the heart of the E.U.

“The EU’s domestic gas production is in rapid decline. To meet demand, the EU needs reliable, affordable and sustainable new gas supplies,” the official Nord Stream 2 website claims. “The Nord Stream 2 Pipeline will provide this by transporting gas from the world’s largest reserves in Russia to the EU internal market.”

Zelensky has asserted that, in addition to freezing Ukraine out of the European energy market, Nord Stream 2 is a “dangerous geopolitical weapon” and “a matter of war.” While not directly linking the pipeline to the ongoing war in eastern Ukraine’s Donbass region, the Ukrainian government has implied that any emboldening of Russia would worsen the situation there. Russia regards the conflict as a civil war between Kyiv and ethnic Russians; Kyiv has revealed significant evidence that Russia supports those “separatists” and the war is actually between Russia and Ukraine, not Ukraine and a domestic secessionist movement.

The Ukrainian president emphasized in remarks on Wednesday that the current prevailing policy towards Nord Stream 2 in the European Union and the United States would do nothing to maintain peace.

“As for the sanctions policy. Some leaders suggest a format of responding format (…) after a possible escalation on the part of Russia to introduce a strong sanctions policy,” the state outlet Ukrinform quoted Zelensky as saying. “Here, it seems to me that we were able to explain to our European colleagues that the sanctions policy following (such escalation – ed.) won’t matter to anyone.”

“Our state is interested in a strong sanctions policy that would precede a possible escalation, and then, I suggest, this escalation might not even occur,” Zelensky added.

In the same press conference, Zelensky suggested he would be open to meeting Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

“Ukraine is ready for any format of negotiations with the Russian Federation to resolve this process. We are talking about this openly, and not for the first time,” he told reporters. “The same will is needed on the part of the Russian Federation to stop the war.”

Zelensky rejected, however, the idea of “a summit for the sake of the summit.”

In 2019, Zelensky met with Putin in person under the watchful eye of President Emmanuel Macron of France and German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Zelensky excoriated the meeting, asserting that it achieved “very little” and that Putin had made talks “very difficult” on purpose, essentially resulting in a waste of time for all. Two years later, Zelensky insisted he wanted “serious, powerful” countries to help lead negotiations with Russia, suggesting he was done talking to France and Germany.

Dutch PM Tells Public Not to Cuddle Grandkids as Christmas Is Cancelled in the Netherlands

Christmas has been cancelled in the Netherlands, with the Dutch prime minister telling the public they cannot cuddle their grandchildren.

Prime Minister Mark Rutte has told the Dutch public that there would be “no cuddling the grandkids” this Christmas after the government effectively cancelled Christmas in The Netherlands.

Lockdown restrictions in the country were extended by the government on Tuesday, and are now only set to expire after the holidays on January 14th.

According to De Telegraaf, the extended measures include the so-called “avondlockdown” or “evening lockdown”, which forces restaurants, cafés, and non-essential retail to close between the times of 5pm and 5am. Supermarkets meanwhile are only allowed to remain open until 8pm.

The government has also requested for schools to close a week early, with primary schools to be closed for the holidays from Monday, and that people work from home where possible.

“This is not the message we wanted to bring at Christmas,” the prime minister told the public. “At the same time, it can’t be a surprise.”

Regarding his demand that there be “no cuddling the grandkids beneath the Christmas tree” for grandparents, Rutte was conciliatory but unapologetic.

“I understand that this is a bitter message,” Politico reports the PM as saying. “But it is absolutely necessary to minimize contact between kids and the elderly.”

Leaked Reports: Few Border Patrol Agents on Patrol in Arizona

Yuma Sector staffing reports leaked to Townhall.com reveal most Border Patrol agents within the sector are performing duties related to processing, migrant transport, and providing humanitarian care versus performing enforcement patrols along the Mexican border.

In an exclusive report by Townhall.com’s Julio Rosas, Border Patrol daily assignment rosters were obtained and examined. The assignment rosters show most Border Patrol agents within the Yuma Sector are performing duties related to processing, migrant transport, and providing humanitarian care versus performing enforcement patrols along the border.

The documents in the report were obtained exclusively by Townhall reporter Julio Rosas who has spent a considerable amount of time in Yuma observing the ongoing border migrant surge.

On most days covered by the daily schedules, less than three of twenty Border Patrol agents on a single shift are on patrol in the harsh desert environment surrounding Yuma.

According to Townhall, the daily schedules examined for the Yuma Station span several weeks and provide an insight into how the increase in migrant apprehensions crippled the station’s ability to conduct routine enforcement patrols. When Border Patrol agents are assigned to patrol duties, they are required to cover more territory due to the staffing shortages caused by the massive migrant influx.

A source told Townhall “When the “all-hands-on-deck” approach to processing illegal immigrants started in early August, “we were at zero people patrolling. That lasted until that lady and her child died along the river.”

The source referred to the death of two migrants in the desert near Yuma in late August. In that incident, Claudia Marcela Pineda Sarmiento and her ten-year-old child perished due to dehydration and heat exhaustion. Pineda’s two-year-old child survived. A 12news report outlined the details of the tragedy.

Desert temperatures reached 113 degrees when Pineda Sarmiento got lost in the Cocopah Indian Reservation after crossing into the United States with her children. Pineda managed to call 911 hoping to be rescued shortly after the migrants crossed the border. An exhaustive search led authorities to Pineda’s body and the body of her 10-year-old daughter.

As reported by Breitbart Texas, the Border Patrol in Yuma is struggling to deal with thousands of migrants from a multitude of countries crossing through a gap in the existing border wall near the Morelos dam. The migrants, mostly family units and unaccompanied migrant children, have overwhelmed the agency’s resources leading to the staffing challenges resulting in reduced field patrols.

Yuma Mayor Douglas Nicholls issued an emergency proclamation last week in response to the unprecedented number of migrants entering the city. Nicholls asserts the influx is overwhelming federal authorities and creating a humanitarian crisis.

Yuma is not the only border sector experiencing similar staffing issues. The increased migrant traffic is plaguing the agency across the southwest border as the volume of migrants surrendering has inundated the Border Patrol’s detention facilities causing overcrowding in Border Patrol facilities.

Ranchers and residents are also reeling from the lack of law enforcement presence along the border — becoming increasingly frustrated with the lack of federal response to the crisis.

The phrase “conspiracy theorist” gets thrown around these days like pies get thrown around in an episode of The Three Stooges.

It has become so overused in fact that it almost doesn’t mean anything anymore (and has been superseded by the “fake news” psyop as a means of discrediting truly independent media that criticizes the establishment or asks too many questions).

Once upon a time, being a conspiracy theorist wasn’t automatically akin to being a crazy tin foil hatter.

That all changed swiftly after John F. Kennedy’s assassination, when polls showed nearly half the country was not buying the Warren Commission’s findings or its report solidifying the government’s official version of events; a Gallup poll reported in January 1967 that at least 46% of the country did not believe Oswald acted alone.

(Bear in mind this was a full decade before the House Select Committee on Assassinations investigated JFK’s murder and concluded that, “Scientific acoustical evidence establishes a high probability that two gunmen fired at President John F. Kennedy,” and that “President John F. Kennedy was probably assassinated as a result of a conspiracy.”)

At the same time, Mark Lane had just released his book “Rush to Judgment: A Critique of the Warren Commission’s Inquiry into the Murders of President John F. Kennedy, Officer J. D. Tippit and Lee Harvey Oswald” and a three-judge panel had just ruled that District Attorney Jim Garrison had enough evidence to take Clay Shaw to trial on charges of conspiring to assassinate JFK.

The Central Intelligence Agency released the following memo in April 1967 categorized as “PSYCH” which essentially weaponized the use of the label “conspiracy theorist” and laid out a number of dirty tactics using “elite friendly contacts” including politicians and media figures to discredit and shut down any claims and ultimately demonize anyone who attempted to challenge the government’s official version of events.

A few people have questioned whether the four tweets from the elites are genuine. When I first came across the story in The Void I did some due diligence. First, I found it was a genuine alternative British news source and not satire. Second, the twitter accounts were all genuine. None were fake, and the blue checks were also genuine. I understand that Abraham Lincoln is America's favorite person and I can kind of see why historians would toe the mythology line for him, so what I'm going to say may seem treasonous to some people. But out of respect for Honest Abe, I'm going to clear some things up.

When Abraham Lincoln was declared the winner of the 1860 American Presidential election, his political managers suggested that he make the most of his trip to the Capitol by taking a tortuous tour of the Northern states by rail, stopping at all the major and middling cities to give speeches and shake hands at various junkets and jamborees along the way.

One thing that was odd was that after Lincoln's train had left Cincinnati, people along the route began having difficulty determining which of the passengers on the train was supposed to be the President. At many of the stops, however, the crowds weren't given a chance to hazard a guess. Citing a pressing schedule and the President's ill health, the train cruised on through without so much as a Presidential bow from the caboose landing.

There was more excitement to come. The most famous incident of the trip occurred in Philadelphia on February 21, 1861. Here the Presidential party was apprised by a couple of messengers of a probable assassination attempt planned to take place in Baltimore, just two stops ahead. These warnings were brought to the President-elect separately, and apparently through separate channels, by Allan Pinkerton and Frederick Seward (son of Lincoln's incoming Secretary of State WIlliam Seward) the latter intelligence having a stamp of endorsement from the country's top military commander, General Winfield Scott.

Lincoln was reluctant to alter his plans (according to the narrative) but at length agreed to sneak away from the official inauguration train at Harrisburg, (the stop preceding Baltimore) double back to Philadelphia with Pinkerton and a friend from Illinois named Ward Hill Lamon and then take the night train to Washington DC from Philadelphia, arriving at their destination several hours earlier than the rest of the party who had spent the night in Harrisburg.

The only person in Washington that was alerted by Pinkerton to the incoming President's adjusted schedule was congressman Elihu Washburne. Upon arriving, the small contingent escorting the President made its way through the station to the reception committee of one. As they passed under the gas lamps, Washburne got a close look at the new President. "You can't play this on me!" the congressman said.

Pinkerton wrote a report of the whole episode but used aliases to conceal the names of his agents and many of the alleged conspirators. Among the aliases can be found the following names: "William H. Scott," "Harry Hemling," "Joseph Howard," and "O.K. Hillard." Coincidentally, the Commanding General of the United States Army, as mentioned above, was at that time Winfield Scott, and Abraham Lincoln's Vice President-to-be, also on the train, was Hannibal Hamlin. The two journalists traveling on the inauguration train with the Lincoln family were Joe Howard and Henry Villard. Joe Howard, you might remember (or not) was the instigator of a notorious Civil War news "hoax," in which a forged proclamation from the President (reporting supposed military setbacks and ordering another draft) was sent to newspapers on stolen Associated Press copysheets. Howard got in some trouble then for impersonating the President.

At any rate, in order to put the issue on a more objective footing, I made use of AI-based identity analysis software to look at the photographs. For this test I submitted a pair of putative Abraham Lincoln photos (above, left) and a pair comprising a photo of Abraham Lincoln and one of Morrissey (above, right). The computed likelihood of the pair's depicting the same person is registered as a decimal percentage. In light of the computer's verdict, we see that both the traditional story of Abraham Lincoln and the Morrissey-is-Abraham-Lincoln conspiracy theory appear to be on shaky ground.

Owing to the vicissitudes of war and the incessant palace intrigues inflicted on the White House from every direction, many were called to play, just as others insisted on playing, the role of the President. However, the various Presidential doubles were not always unified in terms of policy or philosophy.

The National Football League (NFL) appears to have caved to pressure from the Chinese Communist Party, publishing on Wednesday a map that showed Taiwan belonging to China.

The map was published as part of the NFL’s announcement that “18 teams have been granted access to 26 International Home Marketing Areas (IHMA) across eight different countries.”

Among the countries listed is China, which includes Taiwan, according to the league’s map.
