Salvation Army short 1,500 bell ringers in Canada after mandating COVID jabs

Eligible and willing volunteers apparently are hard to come by in Edmonton.

EDMONTON, Alberta (LifeSiteNews) – The Salvation Army in Edmonton is short around 1,500 bell-ringing volunteers only a few weeks after it mandated COVID jabs for all staff and helpers.

According to a December 6 report in the Edmonton Journal, Salvation Army Edmonton wants to raise $600,000 for its annual Christmas Kettle Campaign but needs volunteers to do so.

Salvation Army spokesperson Jamie Locke told the Edmonton Journal that a shortage of volunteers this time of year is atypical, and they are desperately searching for helpers.

LifeSiteNews reached out to Locke on Thursday afternoon asking if the volunteer shortage is due to the recent COVID jab mandate handed down by Salvation Army Canada headquarters, and, if so, how many of its staff and volunteers have been let go. As of publication time, there has been no reply from Locke.

On November 15, Salvation Army Canada mandated that all current and prospective volunteers and staff who provide “on-site and in-person services” must have the COVID jabs.

High winds leave 210,000 without power in Canada's Ontario

Extreme winds hit the Canadian province of Ontario to plunge more than 280,000 homes and businesses into darkness, utility Hydro One (H.TO) said on Saturday, although power supplies were later restored to some.

The Toronto-listed company, which supplies electricity to about 1.4 million customers across the province, said it expected more outages until the winds subsided.

"Hydro One expects customers in the hardest-hit areas to be without power overnight, including southern, central and eastern Ontario," the company said in a statement.

"Significant damage has been reported, including broken poles, fallen trees and hazardous road conditions," it added, but did not elaborate.

Although power has been restored to 78,000 customers, about 210,000 still remain without electricity.

Environment and Climate Change Canada had also issued wind warnings for the southern regions of Ontario, cautioning against expected gusts of upto 120 kph (75 mph).

Separately, another Canadian utility, Alectra, said it had sent workers to restore power to customers across the Greater Toronto area, but added that some might be without power all night.

The city of Itajai, Brazil offered Ivermectin to its citizens during the COVID pandemic. The results were spectacular. Hospitalizations and deaths were cut in half.

Early on in the pandemic, before the vaccines were available, the Southern Brazilian city of Itajai offered Ivermectin as a prophylaxis against the disease.

Between July and December of 2020, roughly 220,000 people were offered a dose of 0.2mg/kg/day (roughly 18mg for a 200lb person) as an optional treatment for 2 days, once every two weeks.

133,051 people took them up on it, while 87,466 did not.

After analyzing the data, a team of researchers spanning several Brazilian institutes, the University of Toronto, and Columbia’s EAFIT concluded in a December pre-print study that hospitalization and mortality rates were cut in half over the seven-month period among the Ivermectin group. Continue…

THE RECIPE

Take the peel of 3 organic grapefruits and the peel of 3 lemons.

Chuck them in a saucepan with a glass lid along with 9 cups of water.

Bring to the boil, then let it gently simmer for 3 hours

Then remove from the heat and let it sit for another 2 to 3 hours

Remove the peels and put the liquid in glass containers.

New Brunswick Latest Province to Sign Child Care Deal With Federal Government

FREDERICTON—New Brunswick has signed a child care deal with Ottawa to create 5,700 new spaces at an average cost to parents of $10 per day by 2026.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and New Brunswick Premier Blaine Higgs made the announcement today.

The cost of child care in the province is expected to be cut in half by the end of 2022.

New Brunswick is the latest province to sign on to the federal government’s child care plan, and so far only Ontario, Nunavut and Northwest Territories haven’t reached a deal with Ottawa.

Under the New Brunswick deal, the federal government is providing $491 million while the province is spending $53 million.

The federal Liberals announced last spring they would spend $30 billion over five years to cut child care fees to an average of $10 per day across the country.

The Department of National Defence (DND) has confirmed that unvaccinated members of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) who have not received exemptions or accommodations for the COVID-19 vaccine could face serious consequences for their careers.

According to a DND spokesperson, the vaccination mandate that went into effect in October applies to all CAF members “whether they telework or not,” and that those who do not comply with the order could be “subject to remedial measures and other potential administrative action.”

“Additionally, a Canadian Armed Forces member’s unvaccinated status may have additional consequential career implications, including loss of opportunities contributing to promotion, which are outside of Canadian Armed Forces control,” the DND spokesperson told True North. Continue…

A growing number of universities across Canada have discontinued in-person exams due to rising COVID-19 cases among students.

These include Queen’s University in Ontario, the University of Victoria in British Columbia and St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia.

Queen’s University announced on Sunday that “(a)ll remaining in-person exams scheduled for the remainder of the examination period to Dec. 22 will be changed to an alternative delivery format wherever possible. Should an alternative delivery not be possible, then exams will be rescheduled in the new year.”

Queen’s students were told they would be contacted by their departments with more details. The announcement did not apply to online exams, which will “proceed as planned.”

Exams scheduled for Dec. 13 and 14 would be rescheduled for a later date to provide faculty with time to change to a different format. Continue…

The Edmonton Public School Board (EPSB) has passed a motion to embed “anti-racism” into the kindergarten-to-grade 6 curriculum.

According to a Dec. 14 agenda published by the Board of Trustees of Edmonton School Division One Kingsway, a motion by Trustee Julie Kusiek was passed on the matter.

The motion calls on “the Edmonton Public Schools Board of Trustees (to) affirm advocacy for … anti-racism to be embedded within the K-6 curriculum.”

According to the board’s website, “anti-racism” means “direct action to acknowledge where privilege exists, raise awareness, advocate for change, and challenge beliefs (such as prejudice, bias and stereotypes) at the personal and institutional level to create and implement action to fight racism for individuals and within an organization, workforce or group.”

“Racism can be perpetuated at the individual, institutional and systemic level and is rooted in historical oppression, white supremacy, and colonialism. Proactive action is required to create anti-racist environments.” Continue…

Despite the Canadian government having awarded hundreds of millions of dollars in contracts to North American manufacturers, Parliament Hill has been giving out masks made in China to MPs, their executive assistants and other employees.

According to La Presse, the masks have been distributed for several weeks.

The president of the manufacturing company Prescientx Barry Hunt told La Presse he is annoyed by the government’s decision to use Chinese-made masks.

“This is an affront to our country,” said Hunt. “I am completely speechless.”

Hunt, who is also president of the Canadian Association of PPE Manufacturers (CAPPEM), said he is more furious that the 20 companies involved in this collective have been excluded from government contracts for the next few years.

Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) has entered into long-term contracts with two corporations to make masks.

PSPC awarded a five-year, $250 million contract to American industrial goods company 3M to produce N95 masks, while Montreal-based mask-manufacturing company Medicom received a 10-year, $382 million contract to make N95 and surgical masks.

3M and Medicom also received financial support from the Canadian government to expand their facilities. 3M collected $23.3 million meant to upgrade a plant in Brockville, Ontario. Medicom obtained a subsidy of $29 million.

Hunt said to La Presse that the companies that are part of CAPPEM have not obtained any financial assistance to start up local productions. Continue…

Canada’s Privacy Commissioner Daniel Therrien said that although it’s not clear whether the federal government has the legal ability to mandate a person to disclose their vaccination status to obtain a service, there is “no question” vaccine passports should only be temporary.

Therrien made the remarks last Thursday at a press conference while tabling his annual privacy report to the House of Commons. He said his department is still investigating many complaints made under the Privacy Act due to COVID jab mandates enacted by governments.

Therrien noted that the question of whether it is “reasonable for public health purposes for governments to require the disclosure of this information” in a pandemic is “not as clear-cut as it might seem.”

“We are investigating and therefore I cannot provide a definitive conclusion,” said Therrien. “That is exactly what we’re investigating.”

Therrien said that asking people to provide personal health information “such as vaccination status” is something that is “certainly a reduction of privacy.”

He noted that there is “no question” that the disclosure of “medical information including vaccine information is an exceptional measure.”

“If it were not for the pandemic, obviously we would not have to provide information in restaurants or other venues to have access to these venues. So it is exceptional, there’s no question about that,” said Therrien.

He then noted that vaccine passports “should not be permanent, there is no question about that.”

Toronto police are asking for the public’s help to identify a suspect in the murders of billionaire philanthropists Barry and Honey Sherman.

Det. Sgt. Brandon Price says police have not been able to rule out one individual who was captured on surveillance video around the time of the murders on the evening of Dec. 13, 2017.

The founder of the generic pharmaceutical company Apotex and his wife were killed inside their Toronto home.

Investigators have said autopsy results showed the pair died by “ligature neck compression.”

Police have also said there were no signs of a break-in.

Price says the individual walks into the area of the Sherman house, which isn’t captured by video, and stays there a while before leaving.

“We have been unable to determine what this individual’s purpose was in the neighbourhood,” Price said.

“This invidividual’s actions are highly suspicious.”

Late last year, investigators said a person of interest had been identified in the case, but so far, no arrests have been announced.

The family offered a reward of up to $10 million for information that would help solve the case that made international headlines.

It also hired its own team of private investigators to look into the homicides.

Price said video analysis shows the individual is 5’6 to 5’9 tall, but they are unable to say the individual’s, sex, race, or other identifiers.

Douklias said he registered Jabless Jobs as a company after it “blew up” when more people joined. Despite its name, Douklias said the jobs offered are not limited to the unvaccinated.

Thousands of drivers are prepared to walk in protest of jab mandates in January.

Canadian trucking groups have made it clear that issues with supply chains could worsen if the Canadian and U.S. governments follow through with a proposed January 15 deadline for truckers to present vaccine passports in order to cross the border for essential business.

The Canadian Trucking Alliance (CTA) released a statement about the impending jab mandate, saying, “The government of Canada’s decision to mandate the COVID-19 vaccine for domestic federally regulated workers in the trucking industry – including many truck drivers who have been delivering products to Canadians throughout the pandemic – would put an even bigger strain on an already beleaguered supply chain.”

The CTA estimated that more than 20,000 Canadian drivers will decide to leave the Canada-U.S. trucking market if the Canadian government follows through with its planned cross-border vaccination policy.

The Canadian government has until now exempted the trucking industry from the current jab mandate on federally regulated sectors.

The CTA’s estimate of more than 20,000 truck operators leaving the profession due to the mandate is lower than a projection from the Private Motor Truck Council of Canada (PMTC), which is another trucking association that represents private fleet operators.

Based on an anonymous survey of its members, the PMTC said that more than 31,000 cross-border drivers will exit the profession. Based on hypothetical projections, the PMTC wrote that by the January 15th deadline, the number of fully vaccinated drivers could rise to 74 percent.

“If we assume these numbers are representative of the vaccination rate of the entire Canadian Cross Border Trucking community, which represents 120,000 drivers, on January 15th we will see 26%, or 31,200 drivers, exit the industry,” the PMTC said. Continue…

Huang, an employee of Lloyd’s Register, a subcontractor to Irving Shipbuilding Inc., was charged under the Security of Information Act with attempting to communicate secrets to China.

Police said the information related to elements of the federal shipbuilding strategy.

In a statement through his lawyers, Huang says it’s a big relief that the case is over, adding he felt no one but his counsel was on his side.

Military Members Challenge Vaccine Requirement in Federal Court

OTTAWA—The Federal Court is scheduled to hear arguments today from four Canadian Armed Forces members facing disciplinary action for refusing to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

Chief of the defence Gen. Wayne Eyre ordered all Armed Forces members to be vaccinated by the end of November or face remedial measures, including possible dismissal from the military. That deadline has since been extended to Dec. 18.

The order follows a similar requirement for all federal public servants as the Liberal government sought to set an example for all Canadians to get vaccinated. Eyre has also said his order is intended to protect the military during the pandemic.

In sworn affidavits, the four service members challenging the order say they are opposed to getting the vaccine for different reasons, including concerns about its long-term safety and on religious grounds.

He says the city acknowledges the part it played in the incident and is committed to working to improve provincial legislation, but is was “disappointed” in the ombudsperson’s conduct and report.

Jay Chalke’s report said the 60-year-old woman had the money to cover the tax bill but her personal challenges made it difficult to pay and the city sold her home for $150,000, even though its assessed value was $420,000.

Chalke released a statement Tuesday saying he was pleased council accepted his recommendation to compensate the woman, and the outcome “clearly demonstrates that it’s never too late to do the right thing.”

Chalke’s report said the results of his investigation into the case were “disturbing,” and it called for significant changes in the way municipalities in B.C. use such sales to collect outstanding property taxes.

His report recommended the city compensate the woman for $140,922, representing about half of her lost equity.

That was the amount council approved on Tuesday.

In the fast-tracked conversion therapy bill that was passed into law last week, there were two significant issues that did not receive parliamentary oversight either in the House of Commons or the Senate.

One issue involves definitions in the bill, which proved contentious in the House of Commons in the first incarnation of the bill in the previous Parliament. However, it never had the chance to be deliberated on in the Senate before Parliament was dissolved after the election was called.

The other was the expanded scope of the new bill to outright ban the practice not only for children but also for adults, despite Justice Minister David Lametti saying in the previous Parliament that such a ban for consenting adults might not withstand a constitutional challenge. This change received no debate or study in the House or the Senate before being passed into law.

‘Very Reasonable Change’ Rejected

Bill C-4, an expanded version of its previous iteration Bill C-6, was introduced by Justice Minister David Lametti on Nov. 29 and was quickly passed in both the House and the Senate on Dec. 1 and Dec. 7 respectively. The Atlantic province is imposing new restrictions as cases of the Omicron variant rise in Canada.

Sweeping new restrictions banning unvaccinated grandparents from leaving their nursing homes for Christmas dinner were introduced in Nova Scotia.

The province-wide coronavirus restrictions were updated on Wednesday, and along with preventing unvaccinated seniors from leaving nursing homes also introduced a ban on having a beer in your seat at a hockey game.

“Spectators at sports games or arts and culture performances cannot eat or drink in the main seating area of the recreation facility or event venue; people must go to a designated area for eating and drinking,” the press release from the Progressive Conservative government of Nova Scotia explained.

The cruel new restrictions also serve to imprison the elderly inside the facilities where they are living out their golden years, unless they are double jabbed.

“Except for medical appointments, residents in long-term care can only leave the facility if they are fully vaccinated, and it is strongly recommended that they have their booster dose as well,” the government's directive stated.

The same onerous rules that ban unvaccinated grandparents from leaving to visit family also apply to residents of disability support homes.

The announcement explains that “residents in Disability Support Program homes licenced under the Homes for Special Care Act have the same restrictions as residents in long-term care.”

According to Nova Scotia's government, the new measures are meant to stem the spread of the Omicron variant that is reportedly less severe but more transmissible than other COVID variants.

Most respondents expressed concerns about online hate speech and cyberbullying of minority groups. Respondents agreed that online child sexual exploitation and sexting were significant issues in Canada and around the world.

A number of small businesses in Port Stanley, Ontario were hit with $10,000 worth of fines during a “provincial pandemic enforcement operation” this past weekend.

James Street Home Decor co-owner Jessica Korbiel said in an interview with True North on Wednesday that two employees from the Ontario Ministry of the Environment came into her business and ticketed it this past weekend.

Korbiel said the ministry employees handed her a $1,100 fine for “pandemic protocol violations.” These violations included a handmade safety plan instead of an official one, and staff not completing the COVID-19 safety checklist through the Ontario government’s website.

OTTAWA, Ontario (LifeSiteNews) – Most Canadian parents have decided they do not want their young children to be injected with the COVID jabs.

According to the Canadian government’s own data, as of December 16, only 17.49% of children ages five to 11 in Canada have received at least one dose of the COVID injection.

When it comes to the total amount of elementary school-age kids who have had both doses of the COVID shots, only 0.6% are counted as fully vaccinated.

In the 12-17 age category, the percentage jumps to around 82 percent who have had two doses of the Pfizer jab, which was approved for use in this age group on May 5.

HALIFAX—Cracks have been detected in the tails of all but two of the Canadian military’s 23 Cyclone helicopters, the Royal Canadian Air Force confirmed Thursday, adding two more aircraft to the previous list.

The cracks were first detected in one of the maritime helicopters during a routine inspection on Nov. 26 at 443 Maritime Helicopter Squadron at Patricia Bay, B.C.

By Dec. 5, the Air Force said it had discovered damage in the same general area on a total of 19 helicopters. At the time, the military said two Cyclones did not appear to have any tail defects and that the remaining two in the fleet were receiving longer-term maintenance and would be inspected at a later date.

On Thursday, a military spokeswoman said cracks were detected in two more aircraft, including one of the two Cyclones that had been initially cleared.

“In one case, the cracks were so small, they were missed in the initial inspection,” the spokeswoman said in an email.

Six of the Sikorsky-made aircraft have been repaired and four others were in the repair shop as of Thursday.

After less than two months since the FDA approved the experimental covid-19 vaccine for children aged 5-11 on October 26th, Eight cases of myocarditis have been reported in children aged 5-11 after taking the Pfizer jab, according to CDC officials.

On Thursday, the CDC Vaccine Advisory Panel held an online meeting to discuss the safety of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine because of numerous reports that it was causing a life-threatening blood clotting condition.

During the meeting, officials also raised concerns over myocarditis developing in young children, noting that the US Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System (VAERS) had already received several records of the serious heart condition developing in 5-11-year-olds.

In all, VAERS already shows a total of fourteen cases of the disease have been reported in this age group, of which just eight – four boys and four girls – were counted as meeting the agency’s official criteria to validate the report. Two of the confirmed cases occurred after the child had received the first dose of the vaccine, while the other six developed the condition following their second jab.

The fact that there have been so many cases entered into VAERS in such a short time is especially troubling.

Despite this, just one out of the eight myocarditis reports is currently being looked at by the CDC, according to the advisory panel. Continue…

Former England footballer Matt Le Tissier has called for an investigation into the spate of sportsmen and athletes collapsing with sudden heart problems, asserting that he is not an “anti-vaxxer” and just wants more information.

As we previously highlighted, three more soccer players in the space of one week experienced chest pains or shortness of breath and had to leave the field of play.

Manchester United’s Victor Lindelof, Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski, and Martin Terrier of French club Rennes were all sidelines with heart and breathing disorders.

“It’s been very concerning for me watching the sport that I love and I played for 17 years…in all that time that I played I never once saw any footballer leave the pitch because of heart issues,” said Le Tissier.

“Now I’m sorry, but if anybody can look at what’s happening now in the world of sport and say it’s normal for all of these people to be having heart issues, in football matches, cricket matches, basketball matches, any sport you wish, these people, the amount of people that are suffering is going through the roof,” he added.

Le Tissier says he is calling for an investigation with the caveat, “It might not be to do with the vaccine, it may not be, but let’s have an investigation to find out what it is.”

“Even saying that deems you to be some kind of anti-vaxxer, which is absolutely disgusting,” said Le Tissier, referring to the treatment of people who dare raise the issue.

“I want just some information, I want people to take a look at what is happening in football, have a proper investigation and give us some answers as to why so many sports people are suffering with heart issues – it’s not difficult,” he concluded.

During a viral podcast with Joe Rogan which was subsequently censored by YouTube, Dr. Peter McCullough warned that soccer players collapsing could be linked to vaccine-induced myocarditis.

McCullough warned that myocarditis has become at least 50% more common than predicted by US public health ‘experts.’

However, other health experts have insisted that high profile football players suddenly collapsing with heart problems in the middle of games is just a “coincidence.”

According to a report by Dr. Yaffa Shir-Raz, there has been a “5-fold increase in sudden cardiac deaths of FIFA players in 2021.”

Most businesses in Canada reported a decline in sales after provincial governments forced them to discriminate against the unvaccinated.

An October survey by the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) has found that a whopping 68 percent of businesses in the hospitality industry have reported a decline in sales since the installation of vaccine passport discrimination systems across the nation. COVID testing company contracted by Canadian gov’t led by defense minister’s husband

Minister of Defence Anita Anand failed to acknowledge any potential conflict of interest despite millions in federal contracts being awarded to a company that had not previously done much business with the government.

The husband of Canadian Minister of Defence Anita Anand is a director of a COVID testing company that appears to have gained financially during the pandemic in the form of million-dollar government contracts.

According to Blacklock’s Reporter, Anand did not disclose under the Conflicts of Interest Act that her husband, John Knowlton, is a director of LifeLabs, which is a large contractor for the government’s COVID testing programs.

Knowlton is also a senior managing director with Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System, a pension fund investor, which in turn is the indirect owner of LifeLabs.

Before the COVID crisis hit, according to Blacklock’s Reporter, LifeLabs received few federal contracts. In 2019, it only received $134,413 from the feds.

According to Blacklock’s Reporter, LifeLabs was just awarded millions of dollars’ worth of contracts for COVID testing.

Indeed, Canadian Health Minister Jean-Yves Duclos confirmed this last Friday while announcing an increase in virus testing capacity.

“In order to further increase our capacity quickly, we have awarded contracts to private companies providing us with additional testing and processing services. These companies include Switch Health, LifeLabs and Dynacare,” Duclos noted.

Daniel Minden, Anand’s press secretary, claims the minister “fulfilled her disclosure obligations to the Ethics Commissioner” and that she has not “signed any contracts with this entity or its subsidiaries.”

LifeLabs bills itself as a “Canadian-owned company serving the healthcare needs of Canadians for more than 50 years,” performing over 112 million laboratory tests each year.

As for Anand, she was elected an MP and then appointed Public Works Ministers in the fall of 2019.
