Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid told reporters on Tuesday they are keeping their August 31 deadline. Majahid also announced the Taliban will no longer allow Afghans to leave the country.

Joe Biden left the Taliban army with weapons, missiles, aircraft, uniform, cash and even energy drinks and now the army he created is barking the orders at the Biden regime.

The Taliban is remaining steadfast on the Aug. 31 withdrawal and announced they will not allow Afghans to leave the country during a Tuesday press conference.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid spoke to reporters Tuesday about the U.S. withdrawal deadline of Aug. 31. Despite the evacuation process ramping up, many more people still need to be evacuated, and President Joe Biden has said he’s contemplating on extending the deadline. The Taliban, however, has vowed not to let that happen.

“This was already not according to the agreement,” Mujahid said Tuesday regarding the latest deadline. “They have opportunity, they [US] have all the resources, they can take all the people that belong to them.”

The spokesman also said the Taliban will no longer allow Afghans to leave. The U.S. has so far evacuated thousands of Afghans, with a particular focus on the special immigrant visa applicants.

“We are not going to allow Afghans to leave and we will not extend the deadline. We will be deciding about this there and then,” Mujahid said.

Head of ECB Christine Lagarde: 80 Central Banks Looking To Adopt CBDC

Christine Lagarde, the head of the European Central Bank, said that at least 80 central banks around the world are looking to adopt CBDC.

Lagarde said at a press conference:

“We think that it’s a duty of us to actually have available digital currencies that would operate to the benefit of consumers.”

“So, what would it look like? Well, it could be used like banknotes. I don’t think it is like banknotes, because it will not have the degree of anonymity that banknotes have.”

In talks with consumers who answered in large numbers, Lagarde noted that many remarked, “We want our privacy to be safeguarded, but we don’t want anonymity because we realize the risk of anonymity.”

Studies on central bank digital currencies began in China as early as 2014, with Sweden leading the discussion on what an e-krona, e-euro, or e-dollar may look like.

Commercial banks’ function as safe guardians of deposits may be jeopardized if central banks give access to everyone, with the design now shifting to resemble the present system, in which central banks issue money to commercial banks, who then distribute it to the general public.

The public, like now, would be able to access their digital currency through a bank app, with only banks likely to be able to provide this specific digital currency app, and thus the digital currency itself would remain within the banking system, though some banks may experiment with self-custodian wallets.

For there to be additional public benefits, coders in particular should be able to publish their smart contracts to this bank blockchain, allowing for automated finance and things like NFTs, which would necessitate the creation of a public blockchain, though not one controlled by the public like bitcoin.

Japanese Yakuza crime boss sentenced to death over 4 attacks in rare ruling

Japan’s Fukuoka District Court has sentenced a Kudo-kai crime syndicate boss to death for ordering a series of attacks on civilians, including a fatal shooting of a man who controlled port construction projects.

The death penalty was handed down to Satoru Nomura on Tuesday, while his second-in-command Fumio Tanoue was given a life sentence and fined 20 million yen ($182,200), after the two were convicted of murder, a coordinated attempt to murder, and weapons violations.

Both Nomura and Tanoue had denied any involvement in the four attacks at the heart of the trial: The 1998 shooting of a local fisheries cooperative boss, who had power over port construction projects; the 2012 shooting of a police officer; the stabbing of a female nurse in 2013; and a knife attack the following year on a relative of the first victim.

Prosecutors claimed that, despite no evidence directly linking the two accused to the attacks, the incidents were coordinated by the Kudo-kai – orchestrated by Nomura and signed-off by Tanoue, according to the criminal gang’s chain of command.

As none of the victims are believed to be linked to rival Yakuza gangs, authorities pushed for the death sentence for Nomura and a lengthy prison term for Tanoue.

After his sentencing, Nomura seemingly threatened the judge who delivered it, saying he would regret the move for the rest of his life.

The court ruling is believed to be the first time that a Japanese court has sentenced a Yakuza boss to death, as the country cracks down on gang activity nationwide amid declining support for the formerly more tolerated mafia.

‘Pure fear porn’: Media ‘expert’ ripped for predicting the coming of COVID-22, a much-more deadly, vax-resistant ‘super variant’

An immunologist alarmed by coronavirus strains, and the media that cited him, are accused of fear-mongering the masses into thinking a “super variant” called Covid-22 is on the way – a warning so far based on pure conjecture.

Zurich-based immunologist Dr. Sai Reddy claimed this week that the combination of existing strains of coronavirus could create a “super variant” Covid-22 in 2022. He added that we will no longer be able to rely on the currently available vaccines for protection.

“It is very likely that a new variant will emerge and that we will no longer be able to rely on vaccinations alone,” Reddy told German newspaper Blick.

According to Reddy, if Covid variants such as Beta or Gamma become more contagious or Delta – which the doctor refers to as Covid-21 even though it was first discovered in 2020 – mutates, this could create a “new phase” of the pandemic which will be “worse than what we are experiencing now.”

Reddy went on to promote getting vaccinated and receiving subsequent booster shots to help fight the virus, as this will help create antibodies. The immunologist’s claims were later published by the Sun and Insider Paper, which tweeted about the story: “ALERT: New super variant named ‘Covid-22’ could be more dangerous than Delta strain, expert warned.”

Considering Reddy’s claims were little more than conjecture, the doctor and the outlets were accused of pushing “fear porn” in an effort to stir up the public as health officials continue to promote vaccines all while warning of rising cases in the fall.

“Here we go again,” one Twitter user wrote in response to the story.

“Pure fear porn – this variant doesn't even exist yet except in the mind of the scientist being interviewed,” another added.

I have a dear friend who doesn't want to lose his job. Can't really claim religion exemption. He's actually considering getting one of the vax cards online, but I'd rather he try and take the legal route. He being in the health industry says he knows that the data on these vax cards is not kept on any database so it's easy to do, but I'd like to at least give him another route, a more sure route.

France Accidentally Evacuates Taliban Member Who Admits Being 'Armed Checkpoint Commander'

Taliban spokesperson Zabiullah Mujahid told a press conference on Tuesday that he could not confirm reports of a meeting with the CIA director, but said they are communicating with all embassies located in Kabul.

Asked about the Washington Post report of a meeting between CIA Director William Burns and de facto Taliban leader Abdul Ghani Baradar on Monday amid the US scramble to get American citizens out of Afghanistan, Mujahid said they “cannot confirm” whether such a meeting took place.

He did say, however, that the Taliban is “in communication with all embassies present in Kabul” in an effort to “maintain diplomatic relations” as they attempt to implement a new government.

There were no details on the alleged meeting with the CIA head, but the US has been rushing to meet an August 31 deadline for the evacuation of American citizens from Afghanistan, something some experts doubt can be done.

Representative Adam Schiff (D-California) called such a target “unlikely” after a classified briefing this week. The Taliban said on Tuesday they “will not extend the deadline” as it is already beyond the original deadline for leaving the country set by former president Donald Trump, who planned on the US leaving by May.

White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan previously said control of the airport in Kabul and the evacuation of US citizens has been a topic of discussion with the Taliban, though President Joe Biden has not considered negotiating with the Taliban himself.

“With respect to whether President Biden is likely to speak to the leadership of the Taliban, that is not in contemplation at this time,” he said.

France Accidentally Evacuates Taliban Member Who Admits Being 'Armed Checkpoint Commander'

The government of France has admitted Tuesday that it 'accidentally' evacuated a man from Afghanistan who had been a member of the Taliban. The man was subsequently detained, and is not the only one with potential terror links: "The man is believed to be close to another Afghan evacuee who is suspected of working for the Taliban, Gabriel Attal told BFM-TV."

"Both had been placed under surveillance on their arrival in France, and the man held was detained for violating the terms of this control measure," France24 reports. The security incident was revealed a day after a similar situation unfolded in the UK, where an Afghan evacuee was found to be on the country's 'no fly list'.

Likely such revelations of 'accidental' evacuations of Afghans who had links with the Taliban will only grow, given the rapid pace of civilian evacuations from Kabul airport still underway. On Monday alone US officials said a whopping 16,000 people, including Americans, had been airlifted out of the country over the prior 24 hours.

It would clearly be impossible to vet that many people and their backgrounds under the rapid and urgent Pentagon-overseen evacuation logistics at the airport.

In the case of the Taliban member who was flown into France, he had actually worked as an armed Taliban commander of a checkpoint:

Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin told France Info radio that he had left an area he was required to stay in for a "few minutes," insisting there had been no security lapse.

Attal said the main suspect helped in the evacuation of French people from Afghanistan "at an incredibly tense moment and probably saved lives". But he had "links with the Taliban, at some point, and this needs to be specified".

According to a ministerial document seen by AFP, he admitted his membership of the Taliban and said he had worked as the armed head of a Taliban checkpoint in Kabul.

Interestingly over a week ago French President Emmanuel Macron warned about this very scenario - and of course was widely condemned in European media for the statements.

As the Biden Administration scrambles to convince the Taliban to extend the deadline for the western evacuation from Kabul - which is presently slated to conclude Aug. 31, regardless of how many Americans and Afghan collaborators remain in the country - CIA Director William Burns was dispatched to Kabul to meet with the Taliban's de facto leader, Abdul Ghani Baradar on Monday, the Washington Post reports.

The meeting marks "the highest-level encounter between the Biden Administration and the Taliban since the militant group seized Kabul for the first time since they were initially driven from the capital by American forces two decades ago.

Biden dispatched Burns likely because of his status as a veteran of America's Foreign Service (Burns is the most decorated diplomat in Biden's Cabinet). WaPo described the Biden Administration's evacuation effort as "frantic", and Biden has called the Kabul exit "one of the largest, most difficult airlifts in history."

While the CIA declined to comment on reports of the meeting, WaPo suspects the meeting focused on the impending evacuation deadline as pressure grows from America's foreign allies to strike an agreement with the Taliban to extend the deadline. Britain, France and others have complained that more time is needed, while a Taliban spokesman yesterday said the Aug. 31 deadline was a "red line" and that there would be "consequences" if troops remained in the country beyond that.

For Baradar, the meeting was imbued with a "tinge of irony", since it took place 11 years after the CIA arrested him in a joint CIA-ISI (Pakistan's intelligence service) operation that put him in prison for eight years. But after his release from prison, he served as the Taliban's chief negotiator in peace tlks with the US in Qatar which resulted in a deal with the Trump Administration.

As a close friend of the Taliban’s founding supreme leader, Mohammad Omar, Baradar is believed to hold significant influence over the Taliban rank-and-file. He helped fight off the Soviet invasion during the 1980s, and served as a governor of several provinces during Taliban rule in the 1990s.

With the eyes of the world remaining on the evacuation effort, White House Deputy Press Secretary Chris Meager said Tuesday morning that 21,600 people have been evacuated within the last 24 hours, bringing the total evacuated since Aug. 14 to 58,700.

Airbnb To House 20,000 Afghan Refugees After Biden's Botched Pullout

Airbnb on Tuesday announced that it will provide free, temporary accommodation around the world to approximately 20,000 refugees forced to flee Afghanistan in the wake of President Biden's botched military withdrawal, which allowed the Taliban to topple the government within a matter of days.

"The displacement and resettlement of Afghan refugees in the U.S. and elsewhere is one of the biggest humanitarian crises of our time," tweeted Airbnb co-founder and head of community, Ben Chesky, who added that the company couldn't do this 'without the generosity of our hosts.'

"We feel a responsibility to step up," he added.

The vacation rental company said in a statement that it would cover the costs for the initiative, while also using funds from its Refugee Fund to address the "tremendous need" due to the "fast evolving" crisis in Afghanistan, according to the Washington Post.

Since Aug. 14, the United States has evacuated about 58,700 people from Kabul, with images showing their relief and exhaustion after facing violent clashes, Taliban fighters, and chaotic scenes at Kabul airport. Within just 24 hours ending Tuesday morning, about 21,600 people were evacuated on U.S. and coalition flights.

Chesky said it was the community’s hosts offering up their residences that made the idea truly possible, and asked people to sign up to accommodate a refugee family if they wanted to help those fleeing Taliban rule.

He also said he hoped that the company’s initiative would inspire “other business leaders to do the same."

And according to the New York Times, Airbnb placed 165 refugees in housing across the US - including California, New Jersey, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington State.

As a flood of refugees flee Afghanistan, the European Union said it would increase its humanitarian aid to Afghanistan by over $175 million. According to the UN Refugee agency, UNHCR, there are approximately 2.5 million registered Afghan refugees who have fled the country - however, officials say the true figure is likely to be 'significantly higher.'

An estimated 30,000 Afghan refugees are reportedly headed to the United States, according to the Department of Defense.

Facebook apps responsible for nearly 50% of all online CHILD GROOMING cases during UK lockdown in 2020 – report

Facebook has been accused by a UK child protection watchdog of fuelling a spike in online grooming of children during the pandemic – with “risky design features” in Instagram and other popular apps being exploited by offenders.

In a new report, the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) noted that the various Facebook-owned platforms – including Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger – accounted for nearly half of some 5,441 ‘sexual communication with a child’ offences recorded by police since April 2020.

However, the charity said the actual scale of online grooming was “likely to be higher” as a result of “tech failures” by the social media giant that resulted in a drop in the removal of abuse material during the 12-month period ending in March 2021.

According to data from 42 police forces across England and Wales, Instagram was the most common site used by groomers. It was flagged by police in 32% of the crimes where a platform was identified. Since 2017, the number of cases linked to the picture- and video-sharing site has almost doubled, police data showed.

Meanwhile, Snapchat was the second most flagged platform – linked to a quarter of the cases where a platform was identified. In all, the “big four” of the Facebook apps and Snapchat were responsible for nearly 75% of all cases where the platform used for grooming was known to police.

Noting that “online child abuse is inherently preventable,” NSPCC child safety online policy head Andy Burrows told The Herald newspaper that the high figures were caused by the “inaction of social media firms” and their adoption of a “piecemeal approach … instead of taking proactive steps to make sure that their sites are safe.”

As an example of the “far easier” ways for offenders to “contact and exploit children,” Burrows noted that groomers are able to simply “refresh the page” on some of the worst-performing platforms to “get a fresh list of children to contact as a result of the site algorithmically recommending them.”

In response, Facebook said it “works quickly to find, remove and report” this “abhorrent behaviour.” It claimed that changes were made earlier this year to “block adults from messaging under-18s they are not connected with” and said it had “introduced technology that makes it harder for potentially suspicious accounts to find young people.”

Social media users have speculated that photos from Kabul airport in Afghanistan show an inflatable decoy aircraft rather than a real plane. However, there is no evidence to support this.

Reuters reported the U.S. Air Force as saying a Boeing C-17 Globemaster III aircraft had landed at Kabul’s airport on Aug. 16 and was surrounded by hundreds of Afghan civilians.

"Faced with a rapidly deteriorating security situation around the aircraft, the C-17 crew decided to depart the airfield as quickly as possible," the statement said (here). Pictures of the C-17 on the Boeing website match the plane photographed in Kabul (here , here).

This claim is one of several conspiracies about the chaos at Kabul airport to have spread online. Another Facebook post used the same image to suggest the 2001 attacks and the U.S. departure from Afghanistan were “part of a theatrical script”, the evidence for which was a label on the C-17 U.S. plane that read ‘1109’.

This supposedly reflected the date of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, or 9/11, and amounted to “blatant mockery” because the 1109 number was a “coded date” showing that “reality itself is coded and programmed by numbers”.

However, numerous sources show that 1109 was merely the registration number of the specific Boeing C-17 Globemaster III aircraft that flew out of Kabul on Aug. 16 (here , here , here , here , here). The C-17 plane numbered 1109 is photographed elsewhere (here).

Facing growing pressure over his looming deadline to leave Afghanistan, President Joe Biden dispatched his spy chief to meet with the Taliban's de facto leader, according to a senior diplomat in the region and another source familiar with the matter.

CIA Director William Burns held a secret meeting with the Taliban co-founder and political leader Abdul Ghani Baradar on Monday, the sources said. The meeting was first reported by The Washington Post.

The CIA declined to comment on the meeting, citing the agency's policy of never discussing the travels and meetings of its director.

The news comes as Biden has decided to stick to the Aug. 31 deadline for U.S. troops to withdraw from the country, with contingency planning to stay longer if required.

The Taliban have warned any delay in the withdrawal would cross a "red line" and threatened consequences. In a press conference Tuesday, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid accused the U.S. of instigating Afghans to leave the country, particularly skilled people, and said they would prevent Afghans from heading to the airport in Kabul but allow foreigners to go.

"We are not going to allow Afghans leave, and we will not extend the deadline," he said, according to a translation from the BBC.

The president has faced criticism at home and abroad and mounting calls to delay the withdrawal until more Americans, Afghans and others seeking to flee the Taliban can be airlifted out. Thousands desperately await evacuation in the wake of the militant group's rapid takeover of the country.

The pace of the evacuations has accelerated in the last day, with about 21,600 people evacuated from Kabul in the 24-hour period, according to a White House official — 12,700 evacuees left on 37 U.S. military flights, while another 8,900 people were flown out on 57 coalition flights. Since the airlift began Aug. 14, the U.S. has evacuated approximately 58,700 people, the official said.
