Mark Zuckerberg was shocked to learn the Russian government had infiltrated Facebook during the 2016 election.

The Facebook CEO had just been briefed on information that nobody — including the US government — knew at the time, The New York Times' Sheera Frenkel and Cecilia Kang write in their book, "An Ugly Truth," which comes out Tuesday.

The book excerpt reveals additional details about what exactly went down when Zuckerberg and Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg first learned about Russian interference on the platform, one of the company's biggest scandals. "An Ugly Truth" is based on existing reporting by The New York Times.

Russia's goal, Facebook's chief security officer at the time, Alex Stamos, explained to the room of executives was to influence the 2016 US presidential election.

The revelation was a shocking one. The book details that "no one else spoke as Zuckerberg and Sandberg drilled their chief security officer." The two executives asked why they were being told this now, nine months after Facebook's security team first spotted Russian activity.

"Yup, Sheryl Sandberg yelled at me," Stamos wrote in his 2018 account of the discovery for the Washington Post.

According to "An Ugly Truth," "Stamos felt that he had been trying to sound the alarm on Russia for months."

"It was well within my remit to investigate foreign activity within the platform," Stamos said. "And we had appropriately briefed the people in our reporting chain … It became clear after that that it wasn't enough."

Frenkel and Kang write that "no one at the company knew the full extent of the Russian election interference," according to Stamos, and that it could be much worse.

The new UFO lab opened its doors last week in the rural town of Iino, Fukushima Prefecture, and its team plans to delve into the mysteries of the country's odd and inexplicable sightings.

According to a report by local Japanese news outlet The Mainichi, the International UFO Lab opened on the premises of the UFO Interactive Hall, a facility filled with some 3,000 pieces of UFO-related materials and clues. The facility celebrated its opening on June 24, which was dubbed UFO Day after the first reported UFO sighting in the US.

The research center will be headed by UFO enthusiast Takeharu Mikami, per the Japan Times. Mikami runs a monthly magazine called Mu, which explores a "wide range of themes such as UFOs, superscience, psychic powers, cryptids, and ancient civilizations."

While Mikami does not appear to have a professional background in science, he intends to work with the UFO museum's curator, Tsugio Kinoshita, to study these flying objects, per local news outlet Fukushima Minpo News. And according to the lab's website, they are looking for scientists — and the UFO-obsessed — alike to contribute to their records of UFO sightings.

Mikami appealed to residents of the town to share materials like smartphone images with the center, wrote Kyodo News.

"Particularly during quarantine, look up at the sky and see if you can see anything. I hope the research institute will be a base for receiving more information on UFOs so we can get to the bottom of what they are," said Mikami to Kyodo News.

The Institute was located there because the surrounding area is known for unexplainable aerial sightings since the 1970s, per a Yahoo! Japan report. One of these events included a bright cone-shaped object soaring above the town that was spotted in the 70s, according to Asahi News.

There were so many weird events taking place in the town of Iino that the city became known as the "Home of UFOs." Alien enthusiasts also made their way to Mount Senganmori, a remote, pyramid-like hill known for UFO sightings, in the hope of getting a rare glimpse of a flying saucer.

According to a video by Gods of Luxury, there is a particular asteroid out there that is made up of precious metals, most importantly gold!

The alleged plan is to go there by 2022 to observe and learn more about the asteroid but it could also possibly be mined later on. As for the true intentions of SpaceX when it comes to this asteroid, we should just wait and see.

According to the video, the asteroid is valued at $700 quintillion which means that if it were divided equally amongst the world's population, everyone would get $93 billion each! Forget about poverty, the value of the asteroid could make everyone rich!

What would happen if the gold were to be sold

However, if there were to happen, the economic string affecting the price of gold could alter everything. The price of gold is only high as of the moment because of the demand for it and not just the rare supply. Should the supply of gold become too big, the surplus could create a price drop and instead of being that luxury metal we all know today, it could just as easily become a non-valuable common decorative metal later on.

This could also give Elon Musk unprecedented power becoming ultimately the richest man on the planet if SpaceX and NASA are able to pull this off. Although it may feel a bit uneasy knowing a certain person can easily become this rich, Elon Musk is thinking more towards the future with his companies like Starlink, Neuralink, the Boring Company, Tesla, and so many others.
