Durham probe focused on FBI, but prosecution of high-level officials like Comey 'unlikely': sources

Sources told Fox News that Durham completed the CIA portion of his investigation last year and has shifted his focus to activities of the FBI

Special Counsel John Durham’s investigation is largely focused on the activities of the FBI as he reviews the Trump-Russia probe, Fox News has learned, but sources familiar with the investigation said the prosecution of high-level FBI officials, like former Director James Comey, is "unlikely."

Sources told Fox News that the investigation is ongoing and Durham completed the CIA portion of his investigation last year – and has now shifted his focus to activities of the FBI as part of his probe into the origins of the Trump-Russia probe.

One source also told Fox News that Durham had been pursuing "new and credible leads" through the end of the Trump administration, though it is unclear, at this point, what those lines of inquiry entail.

A spokesperson for the special counsel told Fox News that they had "no comment from Mr. Durham."

Durham’s investigation has produced one criminal charge so far, against former FBI lawyer Kevin Clinesmith, who was accused of altering an email related to the surveillance of former Trump campaign aide Carter Page. That prosecution, though, did not allege a broader conspiracy within the FBI, and the conduct it involved had largely been laid out in a Justice Department inspector general report from last December.

Clinesmith in August pleaded guilty to making a false statement to Durham’s team. The offense carried a maximum term of imprisonment of five years and a fine of up to $250,000.

Last week, Clinesmith was sentenced to 12 months probation and 400 hours of community service, and no fine.

The Justice Department relied on Clinesmith’s assertion as it submitted a third and final renewal application in 2017 to surveil Page under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.

Durham’s investigation began in May 2019, shortly after special counsel Robert Mueller completed his years-long investigation into whether the Trump campaign conspired with the Russians to influence the 2016 presidential election.

Mueller’s investigation yielded no evidence of criminal conspiracy or coordination between the Trump campaign and Russian officials during the 2016 election.

Meanwhile, in December, Durham expanded his team, adding new prosecutors, after former Attorney General Bill Barr appointed him in October as special counsel to ensure he could continue his investigation during the Biden Administration.

In the scope order, obtained by Fox News, Barr stated that Durham "is authorized to investigate whether any federal official, employee, or any other person or entity violated the law in connection with the intelligence, counter-intelligence, or law-enforcement activities directed at the 2016 presidential campaigns, individuals associated with those campaigns, and individuals associated with the administration of President Donald J. Trump, including but not limited to Crossfire Hurricane and the investigation of Special Counsel Robert S. Mueller, III."

Under U.S. code, the special counsel would produce a "confidential report" and is ordered to "submit to the Attorney General a final report, and such interim reports as he deems appropriate in a form that will permit public dissemination."

As for Comey, the former FBI director last yar said Durham's probe was not concerning for him.

"I have had no contact with him and haven’t talked to him," Comey told CBS News' "Face the Nation" in August. "I can’t imagine that I’m a target."

A spokesman for Comey did not immediately respond to Fox News' request for coment.

Also over the summer, Durham's team questioned former CIA Director John Brennan for some eight hours at CIA headquarters. Brennan later said through a spokesman he was assured he was "not a target."

Brennan, in December, during an appearance on "Fox News Sunday," said he had no problem with Durham's investigation continuing into 2021.

"I think that is fine, I have no problems with it," Brennan said, adding that he has already sat down with Durham's team for eight hours. "I do believe that John Durham is going to carry out his responsibilities ably and hopefully not with any political influence."

America Last: Joe Biden to Open Special COVID Vaccination Sites for Illegal Aliens

On Monday, Joe Biden’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced that they will open special COVID vaccination sites for illegal immigrants.

The Daily Wire reported — DHS also asserted that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection “will not conduct enforcement operations at or near vaccine distribution sites or clinics. … ICE does not and will not carry out enforcement operations at or near health care facilities, such as hospitals, doctors’ offices, accredited health clinics, and emergent or urgent care facilities, except in the most extraordinary of circumstances.”

The US government is setting up special vaccination sites for illegals.

DHS issued a statement saying:

DHS and its Federal government partners fully support equal access to the COVID-19 vaccines and vaccine distribution sites for undocumented immigrants. It is a moral and public health imperative to ensure that all individuals residing in the United States have access to the vaccine. DHS encourages all individuals, regardless of immigration status, to receive the COVID-19 vaccine once eligible under local distribution guidelines.

DHS carries out its mission, including all areas within its COVID-19 response, without discrimination on the basis of race, ethnicity, nationality, or other protected class, and in compliance with law and policy. Further, DHS supports the equitable and efficient distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine to all populations, including historically underserved communities.

To reach underserved and rural communities, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), in collaboration with federal partners, will coordinate efforts to establish and support fixed facilities, pop-up or temporary vaccination sites, and mobile vaccination clinics. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection will not conduct enforcement operations at or near vaccine distribution sites or clinics. Consistent with ICE’s long-standing sensitive locations policy, ICE does not and will not carry out enforcement operations at or near health care facilities, such as hospitals, doctors’ offices, accredited health clinics, and emergent or urgent care facilities, except in the most extraordinary of circumstances.

Market Collapse in Mid February / THEORY

Lots of evidence adding up that GameStop shares were probably counterfeited. Millions of shares came back unaccounted for at the end of January. Theres a lot more data I can try to share, but essentially right now the counterfeited shares are being traded back and forth by hedge funds, and Fidelity, Vanguard and Blackrock are trying to buy as many shares as possible to cover with, because they have huge ownership in GameStop and probably lent out their shares, so they're now part of the problem. Shares that go unaccounted for have to be accounted for eventually, but if hedge funds are trading them back and forth they can add another 3 days to the deadline. It's like writing a floating check back and forth between bank accounts to cover money until you can get ahold of it, but ultimately there's a strike day that it has to be accounted for, that number is 21 days from end of January, putting this at February 19th as the last day of the market that week.

Fidelity and Vanguard are giants on Wall Street, if this thing affects them, it's going to have huge implications on the entire market. If the market crashes, we have something else we need to examine that I've written here before.

Right now we have:

good evidence GameStop shares were counterfeited for the naked short, and it will probably be exposed

Vanguard and Fidelity would cascade into the rest of the market

could result in massive loss of confidence in system

a bubble in the housing mortgages AGAIN but this time is stacked with loan forebearances from the covid bill and people not having to pay their mortgages until later this year for all of last year (what money are they going to use to pay it?!)

banks aren't protected from people not paying mortgages since the rate is only at 3%

historical unemployment

huge inflation, 23.6% of all US dollars to EVER be printed out, were printed out last year for the covid bills (and it's probably even significantly more)

already CNBC saying that raising the rate is the only thing to prevent something like the GameStop thing with retail investors from happening again (I can't find any reason only Jim Cramer saying it)

We're sitting on two time bombs, a double bubble in stocks and housing, plus we have inflation, plus we have massive unemployment.

Even worse, let's compare that to something else…

Great Depression Factors:

Initial Massive Stock Market Crash that triggered panic sell off of assets

Followed by massive deflation

Lost confidence in the system spirals this to out of control levels (money was backed by gold at the time, and the massive panic causes banks to have to further stop people from taking money in order to match 1:1 ratios backing the cash to gold reserves)

Massive unemployment as soldiers got home increasing the workforce to then record numbers of unemployment

Of note, the Biden investigation is being run by the US Attorney in Delaware - not the main Justice Department, according to Axios' Lachlan Markay - who notes that it "shows the need for stict ethics enforcement right off the bat."

The two were jointly representing at least one Latham client when McQuaid was tapped for his new Justice Department job on Jan. 20.

Clark is based out of Latham’s New York office, according to the firm’s website. In December, Hunter Biden was reportedly exploring additional legal representation in Delaware.

Clark did not respond to inquiries. There’s also no indication McQuaid did any work on the Hunter Biden case.

"Potential conflicts between lawyers entering government and their former clients or firms are quite common," said Kedric Payne, senior director for ethics at the Campaign Legal Center - who apparently sees nothing untoward about McQuaid's appointment.

"This situation is one of the many initial tests of Biden's ethics pledge, which looks great on paper, but time will tell if it is effective in practice," he added. "Enforcement is essential."

5 children and 1 man killed in apparent mass shooting in Oklahoma, police say

Six people, including five small children, were killed in a shooting in Muskogee, Oklahoma. The suspected gunman was arrested after a brief chase, but police are still investigating the circumstances of the hideous crime.

Police responded to a call of a suspected shooting at a residence at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday. The responding officers said they found an armed suspect and opened fire, but missed and the suspect fled. The alleged assailant was eventually detained after a brief chase and is now in custody.

Police say they found one man and four small children dead inside the house. A fifth child died while being transported to the hospital in Tulsa by helicopter. A woman was also seriously injured and hospitalized at the same facility, according to reports.

Authorities are still investigating and say they plan to release more information as it becomes available.

Muskogee police told reporters the shooting was likely a domestic incident, noting that the suspect is related to the victims. However, he did not elaborate on the relationship.

The Capitol police officer who shot a woman attempting to breach the speaker’s lobby during the Capitol Hill riot is reportedly not likely to face charges after a preliminary decision by investigators in the case.

The officer, who has not been named, had been placed on leave after the Jan. 6 riot while an investigation took place into whether rioter Ashli Babbitt’s civil rights were violated, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Babbitt, a 35-year-old Air Force veteran and Qanon supporter, was climbing through a window that had been shattered by protesters when she was killed.

The Justice Department civil rights investigation into the shooting was a routine procedure following the use of deadly force by a police officer in Washington D.C.

The investigators have made an initial determination not to file charges. Justice Department officials need to make a final determination, the Journal said.
