Myanmar coup latest: Death toll rises in clashes near India border

Wednesday, April 28

5:00 p.m. Local media report that a bomb blast occurred in front of the police station in South Okkalapa township, Yangon, on Wednesday. At least several police are said to have been injured, and security forces have closed off roads as they investigate the area.

3:30 p.m. At least 15 Myanmar troops are killed on Wednesday in a battle between government forces and the Chinland Defense Force, reportedly formed earlier this month by anti-coup armed protesters, in Chin state that borders India. The battle erupted two days after a local unit of the Myanmar military reportedly reached a ceasefire agreement with the Chinland Defense Force. The agreement was seen as a ploy to buy time for bringing in reinforcements from other parts of the country. Wednesday's deaths are the latest in fighting in Chin state this week. Myanmar Now reports that government forces used rocket launchers and artillery in an attack on Tuesday. Casualties on the Chinland Defense Force side were not known.

1:19 p.m. Myanmar's junta has relaxed internet restrictions on some business apps, signaling the return of an old censorship board that this time will control who can access what on their digital devices. Some telecoms have enabled internet access to banking and business mobile applications. Consumers using service providers such as state-run MPT can now access Office 365 email and messaging applications run by Microsoft as well as local banking applications. The junta has also recently lifted the nightly internet blackout for fiber-to-the-home providers. Read more here.

11:00 a.m. The Central Bank of Myanmar says in a news release that from May 3 people will be allowed to open new bank accounts, which will allow for unlimited cash withdrawals. Limits on existing bank accounts will remain in place, but "arrangements are underway to ease the restriction," according to the statement. Bank customers have recently had to deal with long lines. The new moves by the central bank is hoped to make it easier for merchants to deposit money.

10:00 a.m. The information team of the State Administration Council the official name of the junta announces via a state-owned newspaper that civil servants who take part in demonstrations or other acts of protest will be allowed to return to their offices. The announcement says "taking action against them will be lifted under the criminal process" with several conditions, among them clearance by authorities that ensures that such people will refrain from expressing anti-civil sentiment through words or actions in the future.

6:30 a.m. The Asia Development Bank forecasts the Myanmar economy to contract by 9.8% this year after a 3.3% expansion in 2020. "The disruptions in supply chains and transportation bottlenecks due to political unrest will accelerate inflation," the new report warns, predicting the inflation rate of the junta controlled economy is expected to reach 6.2%, up from the previous year's 5.7%.

New Revelation: Dominion Warned GA Officials About Problem with Voting Machines

Another potential problem with Dominion Voting Systems machines is being raised. This time, apparently the memory cards on the company's voting tabulation machines are storage-limited, and at least one member of Trump's legal team is questioning the fact as "suspicious."

JustTheNews.com dug up this surprising revelation, reporting that Dominion warned Georgia officials prior to Election Day that the memory cards might need to be taken out of their vote tabulation machines before the end of the election to deal with a limitation in its system.

The actual correspondence between Dominion and state officials was obtained when the media outlet filed a public records request.

Officials confirmed on Thursday that more than three dozen memory cards were pulled from vote tabulating machines in the Atlanta metro area because they had all reached their counting maximum. All of the cards were stored in a locked cabinet until after the polls closed, according to officials.

Dominion sent a "customer advisory" at the end of October, according to a "bulletin" that was sent to all county election officials from Chris Harvey, the state's elections division director.

The memo was obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request from JusttheNews.com to Fulton County, home to Atlanta, Georgia's largest city.

"Dominion Voting released a customer advisory yesterday stating that when an ImageCast Precinct (ICP) Tabulator reaches approximately 10,000 ballots cast for a single election, a message will appear that reads, 'Maximum Ballot Capacity Reached'," Harvey wrote.

Harvey told county officials they had two choices in the guidelines outlined by the company. Officials were instructed "if they believe that a single ICP will reach 10,000 ballots cast," they were to "remove the original memory cards from the tabulator that has reached or is nearing maximum capacity" and then place a new memory card into the machine.

Harvey also directed officials not to close polls using the cards "until 7:00 p.m. on Election Night" and to "store the memory cards securely."

The instructions from Dominion told election workers to "remove the original memory cards and for store {sic} tabulation at the appropriate time." According to JustTheNews.com, the company did not mention anything about secure storage.

The Georgia Secretary of State's office declined to comment if they followed Dominion's memory card guidelines, but said it had endeavored to ensure the integrity of both Dominion's machines and the election in general.

On Thursday, Fulton County spokeswoman Regina Waller sent an emailed statement to JustTheNews from a Dominion official.

"Due to the amount of races that were on the November 2020 ballot and the large number of early voting polling sites that we have in Fulton County, the Dominion ICX scanner had the memory to hold ballot images of about 5,000 ballots," the official said. "After my staff and I did the test to confirm that the max was 5,000 ballots, we consulted upper management and made the determination that we would swap out memory cards at 3,000 ballots. We swapped out memory cards 36 times during the early voting period."

Dark Money Behemoth That Hosts BLM Foundation Received $16 Million in Government Grants

The dark money network that houses the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation

received nearly $16 million in taxpayer-funded grants last year, financial filings reveal.

The Tides Center, a California-based nonprofit incubator, reported the government

grants on its 2019 tax forms. It operates by acting as a fiscal sponsor to several

left-wing nonprofits, including the BLM Global Network Foundation, which has

advocated for abolishing the nuclear family and defunding the police. This

arrangement lets the nonprofits avoid disclosing their financial activity, and thus

makes it difficult to know where the taxpayer-funded cash ultimately ends up.

The center's 2019 windfall adds to the $170 million it has received in government

grants since 2001—grants that have drawn criticism from nonprofit watchdogs. Scott

Walter, president of the Capital Research Center, has called Tides as "liberal and

politically active as they come" and questioned whether American tax dollars should

be awarded to groups housed at such networks.

The new filings show that the center took in $155 million in anonymous contributions

on top of the $16 million in government grants it received in 2019, a $34 million

increase over its 2018 totals. It also cut nearly $20 million in grants to outside

groups, including the Leadership Counsel for Justice and Accountability and the New

Venture Fund, a separate nonprofit incubator that is part of a $715 million secret

money network managed by Arabella Advisors.

The Tides Center was launched in 1996 as an offshoot of the Tides Foundation. It has

incubated numerous social justice, environmental, gun-control, and abortion-rights

groups. George Soros's Open Society Foundations, the Ford Foundation, the

Rockefeller Brothers Fund, the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, and the William and Flora

Hewlett Foundation have all pushed funding through the network.

The Tides Center did not respond to a request for comment.

Federal Investigators Execute Search Warrant at Rudy Giuliani’s Apartment

Federal investigators in Manhattan executed a search warrant on Wednesday at the Upper East Side apartment of Rudolph W. Giuliani, the former New York City mayor who became President Donald J. Trump’s personal lawyer, stepping up a criminal investigation into Mr. Giuliani’s dealings in Ukraine, three people with knowledge of the matter said. One of the people said the investigators had seized Mr. Giuliani’s electronic devices.

After Merrick B. Garland was confirmed as President Biden’s attorney general, the Justice Department lifted its objection to the search. While the warrant is not an explicit accusation of wrongdoing against Mr. Giuliani, it shows that the investigation has entered an aggressive new phase. To obtain a search warrant, investigators need to persuade a judge they have sufficient reason to believe that a crime was committed and that the search would turn up evidence of the crime.

Twenty five years later in 2006, Attali’s best-selling book, A Brief History of the Future – A Brave and Controversial Look at the 21st Century, was published in France.

It was then released by Arcade Publishing in the US, with a review by the Rothschild Cartel’s long-serving globalist henchman, Henry Kissinger, on the front cover, stating that the international banker’s book was “brilliant and provocative”.

European Parliament Seeks SWIFT Shut-Off For Russia "If Ukraine Aggression Continues"

Days after President Putin warned the West of a "harsh" and "asymmetrical" response if it crosses Russia's 'red line' concerning NATO troop positioning and the recently renewed Ukraine standoff, the European Parliament in Brussels has proposed a new resolution to disconnect Russia from the SWIFT payment system.

Dated Wednesday, April 28, it's entitled, "European Parliament resolution on Russia, the case of Alexei Navalny, the military build-up on Ukraine’s border and Russian attacks in the Czech Republic." The over 50 European Parliament lawmakers cited "aggression and continued destabilization of Ukraine, hostile behavior towards and outright attacks on EU member states and societies."

It further appears a 'preventative' and threatening measure in the instance of any future scenario of major Russian troop build-up in Crimea and along Ukraine's border such as occurred over the last month. Despite the Kremlin last week ordering a troop draw down after the conclusion of Black Sea military drills, the EU is clearly seeking to drastically beef up the "cost" automatically imposed on Russia for "threats" against Ukrainian sovereignty.

Biden Chief of Staff’s Wife Openly Collaborated with Chinese State Media.

Monica Medina – the wife of President Biden’s Chief of Staff – has repeatedly contributed to Chinese Communist Party-run media outlets.

Medina is also set to join Biden’s State Department as an Assistant Secretary in the Bureau and Oceans and International Environmental and Science Affairs despite the president’s “no family members pledge.”

Medina, currently the founder and publisher of an environmental e-newsletter, has appeared on the Chinese Communist Party-run media outlet China Global Television Network (CGTN) to discuss climate change. Chinese National Sentenced to 14 Years for Laundering Drug Money for Mexican Cartels

A federal judge in Illinois on Tuesday sentenced a Chinese national to 14 years behind bars for laundering the proceeds of illegal narcotics on behalf of Mexican drug traffickers, according to the Department of Justice (DOJ).

U.S. District Judge Thomas M. Durkin imposed the sentence on April 27 after a hearing in federal court in Chicago, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Illinois said in a press release.

Xianbing Gan, a 51-year-old Chinese national, arranged for over $500,000 in illicit drug proceeds to be picked up in Chicago in 2018, prosecutors said. The money was supposed to be transferred to drug traffickers in Mexico through various bank accounts in China.

“Unbeknownst to Gan, a purported money courier who picked up the drug proceeds in Chicago was an undercover law enforcement agent,” according to the release.

Gan, who prosecutors said facilitated the money transfers while living in Guadalajara, Mexico, was arrested in November 2018 at an airport in Los Angeles during a layover on a flight from Hong Kong to Mexico, and has remained in U.S. custody since his arrest.

“The defendant was part of a recent phenomenon in which a relatively small network of Chinese money brokers based in Mexico have come to dominate international money laundering markets,” Assistant U.S. Attorneys Sean J.B. Franzblau and Richard M. Rothblatt argued in a sentencing memorandum.

“Many of these brokers are also engaged in legitimate business, and use that business as cover for and to further money laundering activity. It does not matter that defendant never personally distributed narcotics—drug distribution and money laundering are two sides of the same malignant coin,” they added.

Gan was convicted by a federal jury in Chicago last year on three counts of money laundering and one count of operating an unlicensed money transmitting business.

The insidious Chinese presence in the drug trafficking arena has been growing for years and now dominates the global money-laundering business and chemical production—both critical services to cartel operations in Mexico, Colombia, and beyond.

“Clearly the Chinese are way more dangerous, way more sophisticated, way more complex, and way more of a national security threat to America—it’s not even a comparison [with Mexican cartels],” Derek Maltz, former head of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) special operations division, told The Epoch Times in an interview last summer.

Agreements between cartel leaders and the heads of Chinese money laundering operations based in Mexico have cemented the relationships and provided fertile ground for rapid expansion, according to the DEA.

Maltz said traditional money laundering organizations charged around 8 percent for laundering bulk cash, but Chinese networks overtook the industry by undercutting the competition and charging commissions as low as 1 percent, or even nothing.

“It’s a brilliant business idea,” Maltz said. “They set up very sophisticated, complex, trade-based money laundering schemes where hundreds of millions of dollars are picked up and used to buy consumer goods in China. And then the consumer goods are shipped into Central America, South America, all over the region in Latin America, to launder the proceeds for the drug traffickers in Mexico as well.”

UK Councils Advertising Covid Marshall Roles Beyond End of June Restrictions

Around one-in-nine councils across England are employing covid marshals even after the end of restrictions on June 21st, with reports some contracts allow for the extension of roles until 2023.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced the rollout of “COVID Secure Marshals” in September 2020, a form of civic officer to “help ensure social distancing in town and city centres”. The government later outlined that COVID Secure Marshals do not have the authority to either enforce social distancing rules or issue fines.

Funding for the stewards comes from central government rather than local or regional authorities. The government made available £30 million in taxpayers’ money for all local authorities in England “to spend on COVID-19 related compliance and enforcement activities”, with funding for the marshals coming from this budget.

The Telegraph reported on Tuesday that of the councils it had contacted, one in nine were planning to continue employing community coronavirus marshals after the projected end of restrictions. Some authorities told the newspaper that it was keeping the number of marshals under review, and were prepared to hire more if they deemed it necessary.

One such local authority is Hertfordshire County Council, on the outskirts of Greater London, which is offering a contract worth some £3 million a year to a third-party organisation to provide 60 marshals from July to January 2022, with the contract coming with a one-year extension to 2023. Their roles include advising businesses on the regulations and encouraging “compliance”.

The marshals’ job description outlines the following responsibilities: “Provide practical support to aid and encourage compliance, such as dedicated staff in public areas, business support, or support for individuals.”

“Introduce measures to aid public and business awareness and understanding of regulations and guidance,” the contract notice continued.
