— Former President Bill Clinton dined in Chicago on Tuesday night at the home of Fred Eychaner, the philanthropist, Newsweb Corporation chair and major Democratic donor.

The dinner was at Eychaner’s Lincoln Park home, next to his Wrightwood 659 art and architecture gallery designed by the noted architect Tadao Ando.

Eychaner is a longtime supporter of the Clinton Foundation, Hillary Clinton’s presidential bids and Democratic causes and candidates.

The dinner was a fundraiser for the Clinton Foundation, with the attendees described by a source as “old friends getting together to support President Clinton and his foundation.”

Goldman Sachs and Loop Financial Join Forces

Two large financial firms are teaming up to provide classes geared towards the educational and career development of Black women in STEM and related fields.

Loop Capital Markets, founded in 1997, is a full-service investment bank, brokerage and advisory firm helping link corporations, government and institutions with capital. Now, one of the largest privately-held investment banks in the country is partnering with Goldman Sachs to help bridge the gaps in racial equity.

Together, both companies will combine to create market fund share class offerings for the clients of the Black-led financial firm, Loop Capital Markets, which is also the largest minority- or women-owned investment banking firm in the world. To further their cause, Loop Capital and Goldman Sachs will use some of the revenue generated from the classes to invest in other causes that also aid in growing racial equity.

Internet giant Google also made a $500 million investment and provided assistance in developing the fund in its beginning stages. Google has been active in addressing racial inequalities. The investment with Loop Capital and Goldman Sachs adds onto the more than $320 million the internet conglomerate has already committed to organizations working to address racial inequities.

“We are delighted to have partnered with Goldman Sachs and Google on this important initiative. This launch creates a partnership for corporations to use the cash on their balance sheets to further opportunities for Black women and have a real, lasting impact on communities far and wide,” says Kourtney Gibson, president of Loop Capital Markets.

For many companies, racial equity and diversity have been hot button issues during recent years. With the continually growing wealth gap, African American women, yet topping the class in entrepreneurship, are steadily left behind in the greater economic makeup of the country. The coronavirus pandemic helped to shine a light on growing disparities for minorities, especially Black women. Together, Loop Capital and Goldman Sachs, alongside Google, are making strides to positively impact Black women in STEM.

“We’re proud to be at the forefront of incorporating responsible investing into the money market fund ecosystem, translating our racial equity commitments into lasting and meaningful change. This share class, distributed by Loop Capital, will create economic opportunity within diverse communities and promote educational and career development for Black women in STEM,” says Juan Rajlin, corporate treasurer for Alphabet and Google. “We hope to inspire other corporations to invest in these types of opportunities to make a positive impact.”

The share classes will be distributed by Loop, but will be offered as a part of the Goldman Sachs Financial Square Government Fund and the Goldman Sachs Financial Square Treasury Instruments Fund. With the help of these classes, the partnership hopes to further the interest and careers of Black women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

“This launch with Google demonstrates our shared commitment to both partner with organizations like Loop Capital that are led by Black women and to create commercial solutions to advance racial equity,” says Margaret Anadu, global head of sustainability and impact for Goldman Sachs Asset Management. “Rooted in our belief that diversity is foundational to success, this partnership will create opportunities for young Black women pursuing careers in STEM and related fields, aligning directly with our One Million Black Women initiative.”

In 2021, Goldman Sachs, in response to the financial impact of the pandemic on communities of color, launched an initiative geared towards investing in Black women to help create economic opportunities for them. The One Million Black Women initiative commits to an investment of $10 billion as direct investment capital as well as $100 million in philanthropic capital over the next ten years to help combat gender and racial biases for Black women.

As an added feature of the partnership, Loop Capital Markets and Goldman Sachs will donate yearly from the net revenue earned from the share class offerings to additionally provide funding for organizations who are creating opportunities for Black women. Scholarship recipients will also be provided with access to comprehensive training, networking opportunities, career coaching and mentoring.

HARARE, Zimbabwe (AP) — At a busy market in a poor township outside Harare this week, Nyasha Ndou kept his mask in his pocket, as hundreds of other people, mostly unmasked, jostled to buy and sell fruit and vegetables displayed on wooden tables and plastic sheets. As in much of Zimbabwe, here the coronavirus is quickly being relegated to the past, as political rallies, concerts and home gatherings have returned.

“COVID-19 is gone, when did you last hear of anyone who has died of COVID-19?” Ndou said. “The mask is to protect my pocket,” he said. “The police demand bribes so I lose money if I don’t move around with a mask.” Earlier this week, Zimbabwe recorded just 33 new COVID-19 cases and zero deaths, in line with a recent fall in the disease across the continent, where World Health Organization data show that infections have been dropping since July.

When the coronavirus first emerged last year, health officials feared the pandemic would sweep across Africa, killing millions. Although it’s still unclear what COVID-19’s ultimate toll will be, that catastrophic scenario has yet to materialize in Zimbabwe or much of the continent.

Scientists emphasize that obtaining accurate COVID-19 data, particularly in African countries with patchy surveillance, is extremely difficult, and warn that declining coronavirus trends could easily be reversed.

But there is something “mysterious” going on in Africa that is puzzling scientists, said Wafaa El-Sadr, chair of global health at Columbia University. “Africa doesn’t have the vaccines and the resources to fight COVID-19 that they have in Europe and the U.S., but somehow they seem to be doing better,” she said.

Fewer than 6% of people in Africa are vaccinated. For months, the WHO has described Africa as “one of the least affected regions in the world” in its weekly pandemic reports.

Some researchers say the continent’s younger population -- the average age is 20 versus about 43 in Western Europe — in addition to their lower rates of urbanization and tendency to spend time outdoors, may have spared it the more lethal effects of the virus so far. Several studies are probing whether there might be other explanations, including genetic reasons or exposure to other diseases.

Christian Happi, director of the African Center of Excellence for Genomics of Infectious Diseases at Redeemer’s University in Nigeria, said authorities are used to curbing outbreaks even without vaccines and credited the extensive networks of community health workers.

“It’s not always about how much money you have or how sophisticated your hospitals are,” he said.

Devi Sridhar, chair of global public health at the University of Edinburgh, said African leaders haven’t gotten the credit they deserve for acting quickly, citing Mali’s decision to close its borders before COVID-19 even arrived.

“I think there’s a different cultural approach in Africa, where these countries have approached COVID with a sense of humility because they’ve experienced things like Ebola, polio and malaria,” Sridhar said.

In past months, the coronavirus has pummeled South Africa and is estimated to have killed more than 89,000 people there, by far the most deaths on the continent. But for now, African authorities, while acknowledging that there could be gaps, are not reporting huge numbers of unexpected fatalities that might be COVID-related. WHO data show that deaths in Africa make up just 3% of the global total. In comparison, deaths in the Americas and Europe account for 46% and 29%.

In Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country, the government has recorded nearly 3,000 deaths so far among its 200 million population. The U.S. records that many deaths every two or three days.

The low numbers have Nigerians like Opemipo Are, a 23-year-old in Abuja, feeling relieved. “They said there will be dead bodies on the streets and all that, but nothing like that happened,” she said.

On Friday, Nigerian authorities began a campaign to significantly expand the West African nation’s coronavirus immunization. Officials are aiming to inoculate half the population before February, a target they think will help them achieve herd immunity.

Oyewale Tomori, a Nigerian virologist who sits on several WHO advisory groups, suggested Africa might not even need as many vaccines as the West. It’s an idea that, while controversial, he says is being seriously discussed among African scientists — and is reminiscent of the proposal British officials made last March to let COVID-19 freely infect the population to build up immunity.

That doesn’t mean, however, that vaccines aren’t needed in Africa.

Biden To Transfer Power To Kamala As Oldest US President Heads For First Physical

As President Biden heads for his first physical as president, The White House has issued a statement confirming that Kamala Harris will (briefly) become US President.

This morning, the President will travel to Walter Reed Medical Center for a routine physical. While he is there, the President will undergo a routine colonoscopy.

As was the case when President George W. Bush had the same procedure in 2002 and 2007, and following the process set out in the Constitution, President Biden will transfer power to the Vice President for the brief period of time when he is under anesthesia. The Vice President will work from her office in the West Wing during this time.

Later this afternoon, the White House will publicly release a written summary of the President's physical.

The question is - will she relinquish that power?

President Joe Biden will travel to Walter Reed Medical Center in the morning for a “routine annual physical,” press secretary Jen Psaki said in a statement. There was no physical listed on the daily schedule the White House released on Thursday.

FDA Clears Moderna’s Covid-19 Booster for All U.S. Adults

Covid-19 booster shots from Moderna Inc. and the partnership of Pfizer Inc. and BioNTech SE were cleared by U.S. regulators for all Americans 18 and older, making millions more people eligible for extra protection as concern about a potential winter wave of infections grows.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said adults who received their second dose of the company’s shots at least six months ago are now eligible to receive a third, according to separate statements from the companies and the agency on Friday. Moderna shares gained 5.6% in premarket trading in New York. Shares of Pfizer rose 1.7%, while BioNTech’s American depositary receipts added 1.4%

A panel of experts who advise the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on vaccine policies are expected to review the evidence and make further guidance for administering booster shots at a meeting on Friday afternoon.

Booster shots of messenger RNA vaccines have been available for people 65 and over, as well as others who could be at higher risk of severe disease, since mid-September. Under federal guidelines, recipients can receive any of the three authorized shots as a booster, regardless of the brand of their initial vaccine.

More than a third of fully vaccinated seniors had received a booster as of Thursday, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and 17% of fully vaccinated adults overall have had an additional shot.

U.S. Labor Secretary Marty Walsh plans to meet with key members of the transport industry in Los Angeles to discuss supply-chain issues at the nation’s biggest port that are fueling goods shortages and inflation.

“We have to make sure that we ease that supply chain -- the president’s very focused on turning the ports into 24-7” operations, Walsh said in an interview on Bloomberg Television’s “Balance of Power” with David Westin to be broadcast Friday. “I’m going out to Los Angeles in a couple of weeks to talk to some trucking companies and the ports about how do we continue to stay on top of that.”

The Los Angeles-Long Beach port complex has been dealing with record-breaking backlogs since the summer that have hardly eased despite ramped-up operations and the involvement of a White House-led task force. The American Trucking Associations has said the country has a current shortage of about 80,000 drivers, with the figure set to swell to 160,000 in 2030. Crucial equipment such as chassis which are hooked to trucks to move loaded containers at ports are also in short supply, with tariffs on imported ones from China placing strain on logistics, according to Weston LaBar, head of strategy at digital freight-brokerage company Cargomatic Inc.

Persistent supply-chain constraints have contributed to quickening inflation, with prices climbing at the fastest annual rate since 1990 in October. Economists have been ratcheting up their forecasts for price gains through 2022.

When asked about inflation and how it’s eating into wage gains, Walsh indicated that President Joe Biden’s two longer-term fiscal packages an infrastructure program enacted last month and a social-spending bill that awaits passage by the Senate would help to address rising living costs.

“If you have more supply of product and you have people earning more money, I would say that’s a recipe for success,” Walsh said.

My family are currently in positions of plant manager and quality assurance manager in poultry plants. I can say for certain that the current situation is more dire than most people think- and we may see a near total collapse of the food supply.

On top of that, the USDA is covering up their shortage. On their jobs page, they list a measly 57 openings for inspectors. They cover this up by only listing their positions for a week or two at a time to prevent people from realizing this dire shortage.

These inspectors have received a memo stating that they have until Friday, Nov. 19 to get vaccinated (despite the actual deadline being Dec. 4). The problem is that a sizable plurality of inspectors refuse to be bend to government vaccine mandates (roughly 25-35%).

If upwards of 35% of inspectors are fired come Dec. 4, we are looking at roughly 2,200 inspectors nationwide disappearing. This will be catastrophic. To be clear, I stand with those refusing and will fight with them.

Likewise, if a plant is stretched thin on quality assurance personnel to protect the quality of meat, that will lead to a complete shutdown of these plants until they can be fully staffed. We are looking at this being compounded with the inspector shortage.

If this happens, many plants will not be able to run. Meaning, no meat in the store and no food for children in public schools. Some of the biggest customers of the plant my family works at are public schools and prisons, as well as national chains.

This could result in children becoming malnourished at schools, as well as families having a very hard time putting food on the table. Now, how bad is the current situation, pre-mandate?

Managers at this plant have already had to jump on the line and help produce chicken due to lack of employees. This isn’t due to low pay or benefits- they stand as a beacon of hope and stability in the community. They value their workers but are on the verge of losing it all.

Likewise, corporate is already discussing sending corporate managers, including the CEO, to help relieve the already damaging constraints by working on the line with everyone else.

Only 25% of the plant is vaccinated, meaning the company will be forced to give weekly testing for all their locations, which will cost hundreds of thousands per year, or fire their hard-working employees.

If this plant, like hundreds of others across rural America, shut down it will be the final nail in the coffin of these towns and a total collapse of the food supply.

This is exacerbated by the fact that these employees oftentimes have no other skills besides working in food processing. Without this job, they won’t be able to feed their families and the towns they live in will die.

We are looking at a multi-dimensional planned disaster: people losing their jobs, food processing being destroyed and risking famine, and the total decimation of rural communities who rely on these jobs to support their families. It is completely avoidable, but they want this.

It doesn’t stop there: we are looking at a fertilizer shortage, with prices increasing 200% on ammonia. This spells disaster for family farms:

Various logistical issues continue to plague fertilizer production, although at lesser levels than in October. Some countries are limiting exports, which is pushing prices sky high.

While this isn’t meant to serve as a doomsday prediction, I urge people to be prepared for potential supply chain collapse- especially regarding food. Please, protect yourself and your loved ones. They are trying to purposely destroy our food supply.

As stated above, most people do not hear about food processing plants (except regarding cyberattacks earlier this year). This is a huge blindside to the American consumer who may soon not be able to get any meat at all, let alone hyper-inflated priced meat.

We are facing a total disaster. If the mandate goes into effect, we are looking at hundreds of thousands of families losing their livelihoods and millions of people becoming malnourished. And its all planned.

Chinese vessel may have entered Japanese waters

Japan's Defense Ministry says it believes that a Chinese naval vessel entered Japanese waters near remote islands in the southern prefecture of Kagoshima. Ministry officials say that the Chinese ship was confirmed to be sailing westward from a contiguous zone south of Yakushima Island toward Japan's territorial waters on Wednesday night. They say the vessel was then navigating westward before dawn on Thursday in Japan's contiguous zone west of Kuchinoerabu Island. The ministry says it has determined that the naval ship entered Japanese territorial waters. The officials say it was the first time that a Chinese naval vessel has entered Japanese territorial waters since July 2017.

According to a Morning Consult poll, Gov. Kate Brown is the least popular governor in all of America. The poll responses were collected between July-October 2021. Brown’s approval rating is 43%, while the favorite governor in America is Republican Phil Scott of blue state Vermont is at 79%.

The Willamette Week covered the poll and included a comment from Gov. Brown’s staff: “Gov. Brown’s top concerns are the health and well-being of Oregon families, keeping students learning in classrooms, and a strong and equitable economic recovery––not her political favorability.”

With her willingness to allow record crime and homelessness in her home city of Portland, as well as her refusal to answer when Oregon will give up masking, it’s no wonder Gov. Brown has the lowest job approval of any governor in the country.

Spectrum of neurological complications following COVID-19 vaccination

Abstract

COVID-19 vaccines have brought us a ray of hope to effectively fight against deadly pandemic of COVID-19 and hope to save lives. Many vaccines have been granted emergency use authorizations by many countries. Post-authorization, a wide spectrum of neurological complications is continuously being reported following COVID-19 vaccination. Neurological adverse events following vaccination are generally mild and transient, like fever and chills, headache, fatigue, myalgia and arthralgia, or local injection site effects like swelling, redness, or pain. The most devastating neurological post-vaccination complication is cerebral venous sinus thrombosis. Cerebral venous sinus is frequently reported in females of childbearing age, generally following adenovector-based vaccination. Another major neurological complication of concern is Bell’s palsy that was reported dominantly following mRNA vaccine administration. Acute transverse myelitis, acute disseminated encephalomyelitis, and acute demyelinating polyneuropathy are other unexpected neurological adverse events that occur as result of phenomenon of molecular mimicry. Reactivation of herpes zoster in many persons, following administration of mRNA vaccines, has been also recorded. Considering the enormity of recent COVID-19-vaccinated population, the number of serious neurological events is miniscule. Large collaborative prospective studies are needed to prove or disprove causal association between vaccine and neurological adverse events occurring vaccination.

Conclusion

Post-authorization, a wide spectrum of serious neurological complications has been reported following COVID-19 vaccination. The most devastating neurological complication is cerebral venous sinus thrombosis that has been reported in females of childbearing age following adenovector-based vaccines. Another major neurological complication of concern is Bell’s palsy that was reported dominantly following mRNA vaccine administration. Transverse myelitis, acute disseminated encephalomyelitis, and Guillain-Barré syndrome are other severe unexpected post-vaccination complications that can occur as result of molecular mimicry and subsequent neuronal damage. Most of other serious neurological complications are reported in either in form of isolated case reports or small cases series. A causal association of these adverse events is controversial; large collaborative prospective studies are needed to prove causality.

Abstract

SARS-CoV-2 and adverse reactions to SARS-CoV-2 vaccinations show a tropism for neuronal structures and tissues. This narrative review was conducted to collect and discuss published data about neurological side effects of SARS-CoV-2 vaccines in order to discover type, frequency, treatment, and outcome of these side effects. The most frequent neurological side effects of SARS-CoV-2 vaccines are headache, Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS), venous sinus thrombosis (VST), and transverse myelitis. Other neurological side effects occur in a much lower frequency. Neurological side effects occur with any of the approved vaccines but VST particularly occurs after vaccination with vector-based vaccines. Treatment of these side effects is not at variance from similar conditions due to other causes. The worst outcome of these side effects is associated with VST, why it should not be missed and treated appropriately in due time. In conclusion, safety concerns against SARS-CoV-2 vaccines are backed by an increasing number of studies reporting neurological side effects. The most frequent of them are headache, GBS, VST, and transverse myelitis. Healthcare professionals, particularly neurologists involved in the management of patients having undergone SARS-CoV-2 vaccinations, should be aware of these side effects and should stay vigilant to recognize them early and treat them adequately.

3 RESULTS

Neurological side effects of SARS-CoV-2 vaccines collected from the literature are listed in Table 1. They include headache, Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS), venous sinus thrombosis (VST), transverse myelitis, facial nerve palsy, small fiber neuropathy, newly developing multiple sclerosis, and some others that have been reported only in a few patients (Table 1). By far the most frequent of the neurological adverse reactions to SARS-CoV-2 vaccinations is headache, followed by GBS, VST, and myelitis (Table 1). Neurological side effects develop after any of the commercially available anti-COVID-19 vaccines but myelitis predominantly after application of the AstraZeneca vaccine (AZV).

MSNBC’s History Of Doxxing Normal People Shadows Attempt To Follow Rittenhouse Jury

Are James J. Morrison and Irene Byon just MSNBC's next Ben Collins and Brandy Zadrozny?

MSNBC is in some hot water after someone who was allegedly sent by one of the network’s producers reportedly got arrested while following the bus carrying the jury for the Kyle Rittenhouse trial and was suspected of trying to photograph them. The judge has since banned MSNBC from the courtroom for the rest of the trial.

The man, who reportedly identified himself as James J. Morrison and said he was instructed to follow the jury by MSNBC’s Irene Byon, was pulled over and issued citations for running a red light. Police say that although they suspected he was attempting to take pictures, he didn’t obtain any photographs of the jury. NBC tried to run damage control and issued a statement saying he “never contacted or intended to contact the jurors during deliberations, and never photographed or intended to photograph them.”

But why would Morrison run a red light behind the bus if not to make sure he didn’t lose it? And why was Morrison following the jury if not to photograph or contact them?

The investigation is still open, so we don’t know the whole story, but the situation stinks of foul play: of jury tampering, obstruction of justice, and potential jury intimidation or doxxing.

Not only would this be consistent with the posture of the rest of the corporate press, which has made it their mission to adopt and amplify the prosecutors’ talking points, but it would also fit into NBC’s gross track record of doxxing regular people by digging up their personal and private information and using it against them. What better way to ensure the left’s preferred outcome of a high-profile, politicized trial than by making sure the jury knows that the media know who they are and where they are — and reminding them that the media have the power to let the rest of the world know too?

Perhaps the most notable example of this doxxing habit is NBC’s so-called “disinformation” reporter Brandy Zadrozny (NBC News and MSNBC are both a part of NBCUniversal, a subsidiary of Comcast). While Zadrozny has devoted much of her attention to QAnon, it seems her overall objective is to flag online information she doesn’t like to get it censored.
