BELGRADE, Serbia — Clashes erupted between Serbian anti-government protesters and supporters for a second day Wednesday in a major escalation after more than nine months of persistent demonstrations against autocratic President Aleksandar Vucic.
The president’s supporters repeatedly hurled flares at protesters in the northern city of Novi Sad, near the offices of Vucic’s ruling Serbian Progressive Party. Protesters then smashed office windows as riot police were deployed outside to guard the building.

Russian President Vladimir Putin is due in Anchorage, Alaska for the much anticipated bilateral summit with the US President and on Thursday he has praised the Trump administration’s "energetic" efforts to end the war in Ukraine.
What's more is that he suggested the two leaders could use the opportunity to strike a deal on nuclear arms control during their direct talks.

On The High Seas, The Navy Is 3D-Printing Its Way Out Of Supply Chain Delays

The United States Navy is testing industrial-scale 3D printing systems it says could reshape the way it supplies and repairs its ships, aircraft and other equipment, particularly in remote or contested environments where weeks-long waits for parts are not an option.
The demonstrations took place during Trident Warrior, an annual exercise in which the Navy trials advanced technologies under operational conditions. The event is designed to ensure only proven systems advance toward procurement, and it draws heavily on feedback from fleet personnel.
Working alongside the Marine Corps, the Navy showcased 3D printing capabilities that are already in use, some installed in shipping container-sized mobile labs that can be deployed aboard vessels or sent to forward bases. The printers can produce parts ranging from a small hinge to a load-bearing titanium component, and in some cases deliver them off-site via drones or unmanned surface vessels, TheDefensePost.com reports.
“This is Uber for manufacturing, delivered at the speed of Amazon across the globe for nuclear-grade propulsion parts,” Lt. Col. Michael Radigan of the Marine Innovation Unit said in an interview with FOX 5/KUSI. He added that operating such systems in contested environments is one of the program’s most promising - and challenging - aspects.
Jacob Lopez, lead manufacturing technologist at the Naval Surface Warfare Center Corona Division in Fallbrook, Calif., emphasized that the ability to fabricate parts on-site is critical because neither ships nor aircraft can carry every spare they might require.

EXCLUSIVE: First lady Melania Trump is putting Hunter Biden on $1 billion notice over what she claims are "false, defamatory, disparaging, and inflammatory statements" made about her, demanding he immediately remove and retract the content and issue an apology or face legal action, Fox News Digital has learned.
Fox News Digital exclusivelyobtained the letter that Alejandro Brito, attorney serving as litigation counsel for the first lady, sent to Hunter Biden and his attorney, Abbe Lowell, Aug. 6.
Brito demanded that Biden "immediately retract the false, defamatory, disparaging and inflammatory statements made about Mrs. Trump,"which were contained in a video interview with Channel 5 with Andrew Callaghan and posted to Youtube in early August.
"Failure to comply will leave Mrs. Trump with no choice but to pursue any and all legal rights and remedies available to her to recover the overwhelming financial and reputational harm that you have caused her to suffer," Brito wrote.
In the video interview, titled "Hunter Biden Returns" video earlier in August, the former first son claimed "Epstein introduced Melania to Trump. The connections are, like, so wide and deep."
Biden also claimed that "Jeffrey Epstein introduced Melania, and that’s how Melania and the first lady and the President met."
"These false, disparaging, defamatory, and inflammatory statements are extremely salacious and have been widely disseminated throughout various digital mediums," Brito wrote. "Indeed, the video has since been re-published by various media outlets, journalists, and political commentators with millions of social media followers that have disseminated the false and defamatory statements therein to tens of millions of people worldwide."
Brito added: "Consequently, you have caused Mrs. Trump to suffer overwhelming financial and reputational harm."
Brito said that Biden’s "source" for the false statements is "serial fabulist Michael Wolff, whose lies were published by The Daily Beast in the article titled ‘Melania Trump ‘very involved’ in Epstein Scandal: Author.’"
"Following receipt of our cease-and-desist demand letter just a week ago, The Daily Beast issued an apology to Mrs. Trump and retracted the false and defamatory statements contained in the article by deleting it in its entirety," Brito wrote. "Despite this, you have unjustifiably relied upon Mr. Wolff’s false, defamatory, disparaging, and inflammatory statements about Mrs. Trump and maliciously elected to republish them."
Brito warned Biden that he lacks "any viable defense to the overwhelming reputational and financial harm" he has caused the first lady to suffer.
"The timing of this video is evident and underscores the actual malice behind the decision to publish it given the plain falsity of the statements," Brito wrote. "Given your vast history of trading on the names of others—including your surname—for your personal benefit, it is obvious that you published these false and defamatory statements about Mrs. Trump to draw attention to yourself."
Brito demanded, on behalf of the first lady, that Biden "immediately issue a full and fair retraction of the video and any and all other false, defamatory, disparaging, misleading, and inflammatory statements about Mrs. Trump in as conspicuous a manner as they were originally published."
Brito also demanded, on behalf of the first lady, that Biden "immediately issue an apology for the false, defamatory, disparaging, misleading and inflammatory statements about Mrs. Trump."
Brito also directed Biden not to "destroy, conceal, or alter any paper or electronic files, physical evidence" or other records relating to the false claims; including communications regarding Melania Trump; records of his sources; and any documents or data regarding Mrs. Trump.
"If you do not comply with the above by August 7, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. EST, Mrs. Trump will be left with no alternative but to enforce her legal and equitable rights, all of which are expressly reserved and are not waived, including by filing legal action for over $1 Billion Dollars in damages," Brito wrote. "You are on notice."
A source close to the matter told Fox News Digitalthat Biden did not comply with the requests by the set deadline.

The source said Biden and his team "leaked the letter" from the first lady's attorney to "a friendly reporter," which "shows how deeply concerned they are about Hunter's serious liability for spreading defamatory lies."
It is unclear which reporter and for which outlet the letter was shared with.
Biden and Lowell did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.
The letter comes after the Daily Beast pulled the article detailing allegations by journalist Wolff that Melania Trump was introduced to her husband Donald Trump via a modeling agent connected to Epstein, after a challenge from the first lady’s lawyers.
"Editor’s Note. After this story was published, The Beast received a letter from First Lady Melania Trump’s attorney challenging the headline and framing of the article. After reviewing the matter, the Beast has taken down the article and apologizes for any confusion or misunderstanding," The Daily Beast posted in place of the article. The url for the article appears to have been amended to remove the original headline and now reads: thedailybeast.com/epstein-this-story-has-been-removed.
It also comes after James Carville apologized to the first lady after repeating the same claim.
Carville opened his latest episode of the Politics War Room podcast with a legal note.
"In last week's podcast episode, we spoke with Judd Legum," he said. "After the episode, we received a letter from Melania Trump's lawyer. He took issue with our title of one of those YouTube videos from that episode and a couple of comments I made about the first lady. We took a look at what they complained about, and we took down the video and edited out those comments from the episode. I also take back these statements and apologize."
An aide to the first lady, Nick Clemens, told Fox News Digital in a statement, "First Lady Melania Trump’s attorneys are actively ensuring immediate retractions and apologies by those who spread malicious, defamatory falsehoods. The true account of how the First Lady met President Trump is in her best-selling book, ‘Melania.’"
The first lady shared a screenshot of the apology’s transcript and a crossed-out screenshot of a video of the episode titled, "The Epstein connection: Trump & Melania."

The Pentagon has reportedly revoked the security clearance of former CIA official Susan Miller, who has appeared on an array of media outlets in recent weeks discussing her alleged role in drafting an intelligence community assessment (ICA) related to the Russia collusion hoax.
Miller claimed to have led the team that drafted the 2017 ICA that concluded the Russians interfered in the 2016 election with the aim of electing President Donald Trump. However, intelligence officials have denied her claims to have been involved in the report.
“This woman totally shouldn’t hold a high level security clearance after pushing the Russia Hoax. All she did was lie to the American people to hurt Trump,” a Department of Defense official told The Federalist.
Miller's myriad social media appearances led to a number of reports into her background an alleged role, including a report from Just the News highlighting her vocally anti-Trump social media activity.

M13: The Great Globular Cluster in Hercules
n 1716, English astronomer Edmond Halley noted, "This is but a little Patch, but it shews itself to the naked Eye, when the Sky is serene and the Moon absent." Of course, M13 is now less modestly recognized as the Great Globular Cluster in Hercules, one of the brightest globular star clusters in the northern sky. Sharp telescopic views like this one reveal the spectacular cluster's hundreds of thousands of stars. At a distance of 25,000 light-years, the cluster stars crowd into a region 150 light-years in diameter. Approaching the cluster core, upwards of 100 stars could be contained in a cube just 3 light-years on a side. For comparison with our neighborhood of the Milky Way, the closest star to the Sun is over 4 light-years away. Early telescopic observers of the great globular cluster also noted a curious convergence of three dark lanes with a spacing of about 120 degrees, seen here just below the cluster center. Known as the propeller in M13, the shape is likely a chance optical effect of the distribution of stars viewed from our perspective against the dense cluster core.

NASA Glenn Earns Commercial Invention of the Year Award

NASA’s Inventions and Contributions Board (ICB) has awarded Commercial Invention of the Year to NASA Glenn Research Center’s GRX-810: A 3D Printable Alloy Designed for Extreme Environments.
NASA Alloy GRX–810, an oxide dispersion strengthened (ODS) alloy, can endure temperatures over 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit. It is more malleable and can survive more than 1,000 times longer than existing state-of-the-art alloys.
This new alloy can be used to build aerospace parts for high-temperature applications, like those inside aircraft and rocket engines, because ODS alloys can withstand harsher conditions before reaching their breaking point.
The NASA Glenn team of inventors includes Dr. Timothy Smith (co-lead), Dr. Christopher Kantzos (co-lead), Robert Carter, and Dr. Michael Kulis.
Four American companies have been granted co-exclusive licenses to produce and market GRX-810 material.
All four have replicated NASA Glenn’s patented process and are selling fully coated materials. This benefits the United States economy as a return on investment of taxpayer dollars.

Additionally, the ICB selected NASA Glenn’s High-Rate Delay Tolerant Networking (HDTN) project for an honorable mention in the Software of the Year category.

It is an optimized version of the DTN standard for high-rate radio frequency and optical links.
The ICB reviews and recommends awards for significant scientific and technical contributions to the agency’s aeronautical and space activities.
These awards recognize technologies that not only advance NASA’s mission but also benefit the public through commercialization.

NASA Tests Research Aircraft to Improve Air Taxi Flight Controls

Flying the friendly skies may one day include time-saving trips in air taxis to get from point A to point B – and NASA researchers are currently working to make that future a reality.
They are using wind tunnel and flight tests to gather data on an electric Vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) scaled-down small aircraft that resembles an air taxi that aircraft manufacturers can use for their own designs.
As air taxis take to the skies, engineers need real-world data on air taxi designs to better understand flight dynamics and design better flight control systems.
These systems help stabilize and guide the motion of an aircraft while in flight, making sure it flies safely in various conditions.
Currently, most companies developing air taxis keep the information about how their aircraft behaves internal, so NASA is using this small aircraft to produce public, non-proprietary data available to all.
“NASA’s ability to perform high-risk flight research for increasingly automated and autonomous aircraft is really important,” said Siena Whiteside, who leads the Research Aircraft for eVTOL Enabling techNologies (RAVEN) project.
“As we investigate these types of vehicles, we need to be able push the aircraft to its limits and understand what happens when an unforeseen event occurs…”
For example, Whiteside said, “…when a motor stops working. NASA is willing to take that risk and publish the data so that everyone can benefit from it.”
Testing Air Taxi Tech
By using a smaller version of a full-sized aircraft called the RAVEN Subscale Wind Tunnel and Flight Test (RAVEN SWFT) vehicle, NASA is able to conduct its tests in a fast and cost-effective manner.
The small aircraft weighs 38 pounds with a wingspan of six feet and has 24 independently moving components.
Each component, called a “control effector,” can move during flight to change the aircraft’s motion – making it an ideal aircraft for advanced flight controls and autonomous flight research.
The testing is ongoing at NASA’s Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia. Researchers first used the center’s 12-Foot Low-Speed Tunnel in 2024 and have since moved on to flight testing the small aircraft, piloting it remotely from the ground.
During initial flight tests, the aircraft flew while tied to a tether. Now, the team performs free flights.
Lessons learned from the aircraft’s behavior in the wind tunnel helped to reduce risks during flight tests. In the wind tunnel, researchers performed tests that closely mirror the motion of real flight.
While the scale aircraft was in motion, researchers collected information about its flight characteristics, greatly accelerating the time from design to flight.
The team also could refine the aircraft’s computer control code in real time and upload software changes to it in under 5 minutes, saving them weeks and increasing the amount of data collected.
Partners in Research
NASA developed the custom flight controls software for RAVEN SWFT using tools from the company MathWorks.
NASA and MathWorks are partners under a Space Act Agreement to accelerate the design and testing of flight control approaches on RAVEN SWFT, which can apply to future novel aircraft.
The work has allowed NASA’s researchers to develop new methods to reduce the time for an aircraft to achieve its first flight and become a finished product.
RAVEN SWFT serves as a steppingstone to support the development of a potential larger, 1,000 pound-class RAVEN aircraft that will resemble an air taxi.
This larger RAVEN aircraft is being designed in collaboration with Georgia Institute of Technology and also would serve as an acoustical research tool, helping engineers understand the noise air taxi-like aircraft create.
The larger aircraft would allow NASA to continue to collect data and share it openly.
By performing flight research and making its data publicly available, NASA aims to advance U.S. leadership in technology development for safe, quiet, and affordable advanced air mobility operations.

BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Yank Technologies in Brooklyn, N.Y., has received a two-year follow-on Small Business Innovation Research Phase II contract from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to advance wireless power receiver converters for use on lunar and planetary surfaces.
The converters are designed to improve rover system efficiency and reduce mass by consolidating multiple converters into a single stage.
Their wide input voltage range supports charging despite misalignment or variable distances, which can occur during wireless power transmission on the Moon and Mars.
NASA officials say the technology could help mitigate problems caused by lunar regolith and Martian dust storms, which can clog traditional electrical connectors.
Solutions
Yank Technologies has previously delivered wireless power receiver converters to NASA and will continue development for future missions.
The company specializes in customizable wireless power solutions for industrial, automotive, consumer, and space applications, and holds 20 patents with about 50 more pending.
The new contract work will focus on advancing the converters to Technology Readiness Level 6, optimizing size, weight, and power, and adding features such as programmable output voltages to support different rover models.
"With this follow-on NASA Phase II contract, we will prepare wireless power receiver converters for a variety of power interfacing solutions for NASA to establish long-lasting habitats on lunar and planetary surfaces," said Josh Yank, CEO of Yank Technologies.

NASA Contractor Layoff Update

WARN notices were sent to some Human Space Flight Technical Integration Contract (HSFTIC) employees.
Integrated Mission Operations Contract (IMOC) folks received generic 60 day WARN notices last week and there will be individual layoff notices sent out at the beginning of September to the specific folks who are being laid off.
This is all being done according to the President’s Budget Request (PBR) for FY 2026 – even though NASA says that they are going to follow direction from Congress.
This all comes to a head in September when Congressional budget stances, the PBR, threats of rescissions, and all of the other political nonsense that infects Washington, collides in advance of the end of FY 2025 on 30 September.
