Drone attack in Kyiv: Debris falls, causing fire and destruction

Debris from a Russian attack drone has fallen in Kyiv, sparking a fire and causing damage, according to Telegram channels of Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klitschko and head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Tymur Tkachenko.

According to Klitschko, drone debris fell in Kyiv’s Solomianskyi district.

The impact sparked a fire in a private residential area, causing damage. Emergency services are on the scene.

Meanwhile, Tymur Tkachenko reported that falling debris ignited trees and damaged the windows of a nearby house in the same district.

The fire has been extinguished, and no casualties have been reported.

Russian drone attack

On the evening of February 21, Russian forces launched another large-scale attack on Ukraine using Shahed-type drones, prompting air raid alerts across multiple regions.

In Kyiv, the air raid siren was activated at 21:38, and by around 23:30, loud explosions were heard as air defense systems engaged the threats.

In Kyiv region, one person was killed, and several fires broke out due to falling Shahed debris.

John Daniel Caine (born August 1968) is an American retired lieutenant general who served as the associate director for military affairs of the Central Intelligence Agency from 2021 to 2024. In February 2025, he was named as president Donald Trump's nominee for chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, following the dismissal of Charles Q. Brown Jr.

Russia's Rostov region repels drone attack

February 21, 2025

Russian air defense systems successfully repelled an attack by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) on the city of Kamensk in the Rostov region, the head of the local government Yuri Slyusar announced on Telegram.

"According to operational services, there are no casualties or damage on the ground," Slyusar wrote.

Concurrently, Russia's Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia) introduced temporary flight restrictions for Kazan and Nizhnekamsk airports in Kazan and Tatarstan regions. It is unknown whether the measure is related to hostile drone incursion.

Who Flew A Reconnaissance Drone Into Kazakhstan?

Kazakhstan is finding itself caught up in the Russia-Ukraine war after an unidentified drone crashed in the Bokeyorda District of the West Kazakhstan region, not far from the Russian city of Volgograd.

Russian officials are trying to pin the incident on Ukraine, while Ukrainian experts have offered evidence that the drone was a Russian vehicle.

Kazakh sensitivities have been heightened by a February 17 drone attack carried out against a vital pumping station in Russia operated by the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC), part of a pipeline that connects Kazakhstan to the Russian Black Sea port of Novorossiysk.

The CPC pipeline is the main route used for Kazakh oil exports; the destruction caused during the attack will allegedly reduce the pipeline’s export capacity by roughly one-third for several months, according to Russian officials.

Ukrainian officials acknowledged the attack on the CPC facility in Krasnodar Krai and say attacks on Russian energy infrastructure will continue.

“They not only support Russia’s military by supplying fuel to enemy forces but also play a crucial role in financing the war through oil profits,” the Kyiv Post quoted a Ukrainian Security Services source as saying.

The Kremlin reportedly wants members of the CPC consortium to shoulder the repair and upgrade costs for the damaged pumping station, including advanced firefighting equipment.

The American oil giant Chevron and the Kazakh government-controlled energy entity KazMunayGaz are among the largest CPC shareholders.

The drone discovery in West Kazakhstan occurred the day after the CPC attack, according to Kazakh media reports. The crash site is situated in the vicinity of a Russian military training ground, Kapustin Yar.

Soon after Kazakh reports of a downed drone began circulating, Russian Telegram channels and web information portals began spreading unsubstantiated claims that the drone in question was a reconnaissance vehicle on a mission to coordinate a Ukrainian “kamikaze” drone attack on CPC infrastructure in Kazakh territory.

Russian media described the drone as a French-made UAV used by the Ukrainian military.

The Ukrainian Military Center, a Kyiv-based public organization with strong ties to the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, accused Russia of trying to stoke “an international provocation,” adding that the photo of the downed drone published by Kazakh media bears no resemblance to the design of the French-made drone that Russian sources say it is.

The Ukrainian Military Center also posted visual evidence that indicates the vehicle is Russian-made, saying “the characteristic shape of the hull, fuselage elements and the drone’s camera unequivocally confirm that it was the Orlan-10 drone that went down in Kazakhstan.”

According to Kazakh media reports, the drone is now being analyzed by Kazakh military experts at a facility in the regional capital Uralsk.

The Kazakh Foreign Ministry announced it will seek discussions with Ukrainian officials about drone attacks.

“This is a very important issue for the economy of Kazakhstan, and we will certainly discuss this situation with our Ukrainian partners through diplomatic channels,” the official Kazinform news agency quoted a ministry spokesman as saying.

Kazakh officials at the same time are downplaying the impact of the February 17 attack on the CPC pumping station, saying it “will not pose risks to the transportation of Kazakh oil,” according to the Kazinform report.

Export data raises questions about the reliability of Russian damage estimates to the CPC pumping station.

The Reuters news agency reported that Kazakhstan pumped a record high volume of oil on February 19, two days after the Ukrainian drone attack on the pumping station.

“It was not immediately clear how Kazakhstan had been able to pump record volumes given output increases need to correspond with export pipeline capacity,” the Reuters report states.

At least one person has been killed and two others injured after an Algerian man went on a stabbing spree at a market in the French city of Mulhouse on Saturday afternoon, according to local media.

The events took place during a demonstration in support of Congo, where a security perimeter was set up, Le Figaro wrote.

The suspected attacker is a 37-year-old Algerian who was allegedly under an obligation to leave French territory as well as a judicial ten-year ban from the country, according to TF1, citing police sources.

“At the time of the events, the man was to come and sign his judicial control at the police station to verify his house arrest, which he refused,” TF1 reported.

Witnesses reportedly heard the phrase “Allahu Akbar” during the incident.

Congo holds more than half the world's Cobalt and Colton. They also have substantial deposits of Gold, Copper, Tin, Lithium, etc. China currently has a considerable influence in Congo's mineral sector, and before them, it was the Europeans.

The United States is also one of the most mineral-rich countries in the world, with more reserves being discovered frequently. It's unclear whether President Trump would want a deal like this. But owning some of their minerals in exchange for security is at least far better than what we currently get for protecting Europe (NOTHING).

Drone crashes into NYC Hilton Hotel in Midtown — prompting shutdown of block: sources

A drone operated by a hotel guest crashed into Midtown’s Hilton Hotel early Friday — leaving debris behind that prompted a shutdown of the block, law enforcement sources said.

The 36-year-old hotel patron was flying the drone around 3 a.m. when it struck the hotel on Sixth Avenue near West 53rd Street, the sources said.

The guest called 911 around 10 a.m. and admitted that he was illegally operating a drone and tried to retrieve it “due to the inclement weather,” cops and sources said.

As he did that, the drone slammed into the edge of the building, he reported to cops.

Police responded and blocked off the street because of debris, the sources said. Luckily, no one was hurt, authorities said.

The alleged drone flier was issued a summons, but not formally arrested, cops said. His name was not officially released by the NYPD.

Sandra Murray, who works at an AT&T store across from the hotel, watched late Friday morning as a fire truck responded to the scene and firemen stood on a ladder trying to bring down the device.

Initially Murray said she thought nothing of it. “I’ve lived in New York my whole life so I’ve seen a lot of things,” Murray said. “I just wanted to know what they were doing.”

The drone strike happened the same day Luigi Mangione, 26, accused of fatally shooting UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson outside the same Midtown hotel in December, was set to appear in state court.

The drone incident was not related to that court proceeding, sources said.

Polish President Andrzej Duda will meet former US President Donald Trump in Washington on Saturday, 21 February, according to PAP.

Duda will be the first European leader to meet with Trump following his election victory. The meeting could take place at the White House or during the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) near Washington.

Poland has been one of Ukraine’s strongest supporters since the start of Russia’s war, providing military aid and hosting thousands of Ukrainian refugees.

TRENTON, NJ – New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy and his minions are messing around with President Donald J. Trump, and soon, they could be finding out in the form of cuts to federal funding for education.

Despite a recent executive order from President Trump aimed at barring transgender athletes from participating in school sports aligned with their gender identity, the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA) has announced it will not alter its existing transgender athlete policy.

The decision marks a significant act of defiance against the federal directive, setting the stage for a potential clash between state and federal authorities.

On February 5, 2025, President Trump signed an executive order titled “Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports,” which prohibits transgender women and girls from competing in female sports categories at schools receiving federal funding.

The order, citing Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, asserts that allowing transgender athletes to participate in accordance with their gender identity is “demeaning, unfair, and dangerous to women and girls” and undermines equal opportunities in competitive sports. Schools failing to comply risk losing federal funding, a penalty the Trump administration has already threatened to enforce in other states.

The NJSIAA, the governing body for high school athletics in New Jersey, responded this week by reaffirming its current policy, originally adopted in 2009 and amended in 2017.

The Vatican and UFOs: Is there a secret about aliens hidden in the Pope's mysterious archives?

For centuries, the Vatican's Secret Archive has been the subject of fascination for scholars.

They have wondered just what revelations are lying hidden in documents stored on what now consists of more than 50miles of shelves underground.

In 2020, Pope Francis opened up the files related to the papacy of the controversial Pope Pius XII, allowing researchers the chance to discover why he remained silent about the Nazi Holocaust.

But one claim that we might never know the truth of is the one made by former Pentagon official David Grusch in 2023, that Pius tipped off the US about an alien spacecraft that had crashed in Italy in the 1930s.

He also alleged, in his interview with US cable network News Nation, that the Vatican 'certainly' knew about the existence of non-human intelligences on Earth.

The claim was music to the ears of those who have long sought access to the Vatican's archives in the hope they may contain information about UFOs.

Former UFO investigator Nick Pope, who worked for the Ministry of Defence until 2006, told MailOnline: 'There have been persistent rumours that the Catholic Church knows some big secrets about UFOs, and that these forbidden truths might be hidden somewhere in the Vatican archives, accessible only by the Pope, a select few Cardinals, and other key personnel.'

Diana Walsh Pasulka, the author of 2019 bestseller American Cosmic: UFOs, Religion, Technology, has previously said that the archives are 'filled' with records of the paranormal - so the possibility that they might too contain UFO revelations has excited many.

There was a flurry of excitement too when, in 2014, Pope Francis said he would baptise aliens if they came to the Vatican, saying: 'Who are we to close doors?'

Before he resigned in April 2023, Mr Grusch worked for the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) and the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO).

His role was to act as the NRO's representative when dealing with the Unidentified Aerial Phenomena Task Force.

The task force was specifically set up to investigate UFOs.

He claimed the first recovery of a UFO in Europe was in Magenta, Italy in 1933 and it was held by the government of dictator Benito Mussolini until 1944-1945, when Pope Pius tipped America off about it.

He said the UFO was partially intact and held at a secure airbase until the US retrieved it following the collapse of the fascist Italian regime.

'They recovered a partially intact vehicle, and the Italian government moved it to a secure airbase in Italy until around 1944-1945.

'The Pope back-channelled that, and told the Americans what the Italians had and we ended up scooping it.'

Grusch was then asked to clarify whether the Catholic Church was aware of 'non-human' existence on Earth and he replied: 'Certainly'.

And on why his claims should be believed, he said: 'I have the credentials, and I was an intelligence officer.'

But he was not able to provide evidence, claiming the documents and data were classified.

Journalist Ross Coulthart, who also interviewed Grusch, told News Nation that other unnamed sources had confirmed the whistleblower's claims to him.

'It's a very difficult situation for the Vatican because if Mr Grusch is telling the truth—and I'm told he is—it's a difficult thing for the Vatican to admit without the U.S. concurring,' he said.

He added that he had spoken to someone who has been granted access to the Vatican's archives and that documents that could back up Mr Grusch's claims might be found there.

Marco Grilli, secretary to the prefect of the archives, appeared to rubbish the claim.

He told the Catholic News Service in June 2024: 'I don't know where [Grusch] got this information.'

And he likened emails the Vatican had received asking about the veracity of Grusch's claims to requests to read the personal letters of Pontius Pilate or the Virgin Mary - neither are known to exist.

Mr Pope added: 'An announcement about the existence of alien life, whether it's a discovery by astronomers, or the UFO community's holy grail of "Disclosure", would have profound effects on people's religious beliefs.

EXCLUSIVE: Former United Kingdom Prime Minister Liz Truss is ready to bring the "conservative revolution" home from the 2025 Conservative Political Action Conference, telling Fox News Digital her plan to "Make the West Great Again."

World leaders took center stage at CPAC this week, telling the crowd of American conservatives they’re ready to see President Donald Trump’s agenda on the world stage. Truss, the shortest-serving prime minister in British history, said world leaders are envious of Trump’s second term and his Department of Government Efficiency.

"There's a lot of momentum, and people are very envious of what's happening in the U.S. We'd love to be able to get the truth from government departments about what's actually being spent," Truss told Fox News Digital.

Truss praised Elon Musk’s DOGE as a "playbook for what needs to happen" in the United Kingdom, but she said that a DOGE UK would be unrealistic under Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s leadership.

"What Musk is doing, going straight to the payment system, is a fantastic idea that we need to adopt in Britain, but the reality is that is not going to happen under the current government, because the current government are part of the problem. They are defenders of the deep state. They're not going to be investigating themselves. I think this is something that has to happen when there's a change of government. We are watching very closely what Elon Musk is doing. It's a fantastic playbook for what needs to happen in the U.K."

DOGE’s revelations about America’s federal funding and the mass layoffs of government employees have shaken up Washington this past month. Truss said that Musk is even holding the British government accountable.

"Sometimes I say that Elon Musk is the leader of the opposition in Britain, because he's the one actually on X, challenging Keir Starmer's policies, talking about issues like the grooming gangs, the appalling gangs who have been raping girls as young as 12. It's Elon Musk that's been taking the fight to Keir Starmer," she said.

Musk and Trump’s ability to seize the social media narrative and America’s growing independent media space inspired Truss to establish a "new free speech media network" in the United Kingdom.

"We have a massive problem with free speech in Britain," Truss said. "People are being locked up for posts on Facebook and on X, which is extraordinary. We're the country that invented freedom of the press back in 1695. It was almost 100 years before the First Amendment. And now we are, as a country, locking people up for saying things online."

"This needs to change. So, what I'm establishing is a new free speech media network, which will enable people in Britain to hear what is actually going on, and people across Europe to hear what's going on." she continued. "I think that's really important. If you look at the Trump revolution, independent media was a major part of that."

Trump leaned on new media during his 2024 presidential campaign, posting TikTok videos from the campaign trail, spending nearly three hours with the widely popular podcaster Joe Rogan and using Truth Social as a direct line to his core base.

Truss said that Trump is leading a "conservative revolution" and attended CPAC this year to learn how she can model his American success back in the United Kingdom.

"What we're seeing happening in America is a revolution. It's a conservative revolution. All of the problems we have in our societies in the West, the leftist ideology that's taken over, whether it's wokeism or extreme environmentalism or anti-capitalism, all of those are being taken on by President Trump. And I want to see a similar revolution in Britain, which is why I'm here to learn about how they're doing it, to talk about how we build that kind of movement in Britain," Truss said.

The former prime minister said she agrees with Trump on "everything from deporting illegal migrants; to cutting taxes; to drill, baby, drill; to being clear that men can't be in women's bathrooms." She said Britain needs to implement these policies and fire the "permanent bureaucrats who are part of the problem."

"The big difference with Britain is our bureaucracy is more powerful than the American bureaucracy. Most people working in government are career bureaucrats, and that's what I think we need to learn from America. We need to change," Truss added.

Truss said she has had productive conversations with European and world leaders this week, strategizing about how to broaden their conservative coalition and create policies to bring energy prices down and boost the economy. Truss even said she had plans for a British CPAC.

Truss resigned as British prime minister after 49 days in office in 2022 after her large tax cut plan destabilized the economy. She was one of three prime ministers in the United Kingdom within a four-month period in 2022.

"I recognize that, given the situation, I cannot deliver the mandate on which I was elected by the Conservative Party," Truss said in her resignation.

The United Kingdom’s current prime minister and leader of the Labour Party, Keir Starmer, ended 14 consecutive years of Conservative party rule when he was elected in 2024.

There is a UK DOGE movement gaining traction on social media for revealing wasteful British spending. The Procurement Files is an X account that combs through more than 300,000 contracts on the United Kingdom’s public government database to reveal mismanagement of British taxpayer money, much like the official US DOGE account does.

Nigel Farage, the Reform UK party leader who initiated Britain’s departure from the European Union, has explicitly called for a UK DOGE. Despite the discontent from conservative leaders on British government efficiency, the prime minister’s office said that it has created initiatives to cut government waste.

"The Chancellor has asked all departments to deliver savings and efficiencies of 5% of their current budget as part of the first zero-based Spending Review in seventeen years," an HM Treasury spokesperson said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

"Every pound of government spending is being interrogated, to root out waste and get the best value for taxpayers as we deliver on their priorities set out in the Plan for Change. We have also created an Office for Value for Money that is underpinning our work driving out waste and inefficiency, alongside cutting out hundreds of millions of pounds worth of consultancy spending in government over the next few years," the spokesperson added.

For years, thousands of Americans who suffered debilitating side effects after getting the Covid vaccine were told there was no evidence the shot was linked.

Some were branded antivaxxers, others told their symptoms were imagined or related to other conditions, like long Covid.

But that changed this week.

On Wednesday, a team from Yale University known for their rigorous work revealed the mRNA shots can cause a previously unknown condition known as 'post-vaccination syndrome.'

Some UFOs may be hidden from our national leaders

An unassuming loophole might be giving the U.S. government and its private contractors free rein to withhold evidence of unidentified craft traveling well above our skies — in outer space.

That's the argument made by former Capitol Hill policy advisor and attorney Dillon Guthrie, published this January in the Harvard National Security Journal, a publication run by Harvard Law School.

Guthrie spent three years as a legislative assistant to Senator John Kerry covering national security issues and later worked directly for the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

He describes this UFO loophole as a kind of "definitional gap."

"Congress has redefined what were formerly called 'unidentified flying objects' [UFOs] to first 'unidentified aerial phenomena' [UAP in 2021], and then the following year to 'unidentified anomalous phenomena' [also UAP]," Guthrie told Mashable.

As Americans have been learning a lot lately in the age of Elon Musk's DOGE, the devil is in the details when it comes to the nation's large and complex federal bureaucracies.

And an antiquated, mid-century sci-fi concept like "unidentified flying objects" packed a lot of assumptions into one short acronym.

That's a reality lawmakers determined would hinder good faith efforts to seriously investigate more credible cases of UAP reported by U.S. military personnel in recent years.

Did the Navy pilots who witnessed the now notorious 2015 "GoFast" UFO, for example, really see something that was aerodynamically "flying"?

Or was it just floating, like a balloon? Was it or any other strange airborne sighting truly a hard physical "object"? Or were these cases all something more amorphous and temporary, like the plasmified air of ball lightning?

As a term, UAP has offered a more broad and empirically conservative bucket for some of these still as-yet-unexplained events, categorizing them in a way that is not just more palatable to scientists and government officials; it has also made it harder for secretive U.S. defense and intelligence agencies to dodge the new annual reporting requirements now mandated by Congress, as part of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). Or, that's the idea, in theory.

A careful study of the NDAA's most recent definition for UAP, as Guthrie noted in his new article, indicates that "data of any unidentified, spaceborne-only objects may be exempt."

"Under that current statutory definition, there are three kinds of unidentified anomalous phenomena," Guthrie told Mashable. "The first are airborne objects, or phenomena, that are not immediately identifiable.

The second are submerged objects [or phenomena] that are not immediately identifiable — so, these would be unidentified objects in the 'sea domain,' or underwater."

"And then there's this third category of UAP, which are 'transmedium objects,'" he continued, "those that are observed to transition between, on the one hand, space and the atmosphere, and, on the other hand, between the atmosphere and bodies of water."

"Just under that strict reading of the definition," Guthrie said, "there is no spaceborne-only UAP."

Any U.S. intelligence agency or branch of the military, in other words, that tracked a spacecraft circling (but respecting) Earth's border would be free to legally withhold that incredible hard data from Congress.

And dozens of very recent cases like this may very well exist: Last November, the Defense Department's official UAP investigators with its All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) disclosed that no less than 49 of last year's 757 cases in their annual unclassified report involved strange sightings of UAP in outer space.

AARO's 2024 report emphasized, however, that "none of the space domain reports originated from space-based sensors or assets; rather, all of these reports originated from military or commercial pilots or ground observers."

But, Chris Mellon — formerly a minority staff director for the Senate Intelligence Committee and a deputy assistant secretary of Defense for Intelligence under Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush — believes that this lack of sensor data is likely "a failure of reporting."

A helicopter crashed into the ice on Ririe Reservoir in Bonneville County, Idaho, this week, killing a chief executive on board and injuring another person.

Florida has filed a lawsuit against Target, claiming the company misled investors by promoting diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives

The US state of Florida has sued supermarket giant Target, accusing it of misleading investors andcausing financial lossesby promoting diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives.

Attorney General James Uthmeier filed the lawsuit in federal court in Fort Myers on Thursday, claiming that Target failed to disclose the potential financial risks associated with its DEI policies, thereby misleading investors.

The lawsuit also alleges that Target’s DEI efforts, including its 2023 Pride Month campaign, contributed to consumer backlash and boycotts. It claims that this reaction led to a decline in the company’s stock value and a loss of more than $25 billion in market capitalization.

Jim McCarthy is a 57-year-old public-relations boss known for being unusually combative with the press.=As the head of the boutique firm CounterPoint Strategies, which has offices in New York and Washington, D.C., he is a spokesperson for big seafood (he helped “the shrimp industry to go hard at the AP just a few weeks ago”) and big vape (“my poor little vaping guys,” as he describes the industry to me,referring to its alleged persecution by the FDA). He speaks in a mannered drawl in keeping with his role as the flack who represented Augusta National Golf Club in its fight to refuse female members, and he has long seen negative media coverage of his clients aspart of a conspiracy among the government, activist groups, and journalists. “The collusion and the coziness is as strong as can be,” he says. “And, of course, they all share the same ideological outlook.”

McCarthy is now part of an army of consultants, lawyers, and think-tank apparatchiksswarming over Donald Trump’s Washington to both advance their respective interests and give the administration a helping hand. For McCarthy, Trump’s apparent willingness toweaponize vast troves of government data is a watershed moment. “One of my colleagues likened it to the end of the Soviet Union, when academics had access to the KGB files,” he says. “We want to get in there and dive through it and zero in on the important stuff before that window closes.”

The Trump administration’s war against the media has so far involved bullying the Associated Press for refusing to call the Gulf of Mexico the Gulf of America,claiming that outlets such as Politico have received payoffs from the governmentin the form of subscriptions, and threatening to use the FCC to punish broadcasters like PBS for their supposed bias. McCarthy’s small role in this war represents a different front: establishing that the media has been doing the bidding of the “deep state.”

McCarthy’s firm is drawing up road maps to help members of the administration identifycorrespondence between journalists and agency officials over the past four years in an effort to expose what he anticipates to havebeen “unholy collusion.” He says, “There’s an opportunity to try to uncover just what’s been going on behind closed doors at these agencies. Maybe it’ll turn out everyone had a clean haircut and was reading the Gospels, but I doubt it.”

Drawing on his expertise with Freedom of Information Act requestsand his familiarity with the ways reporters source stories,he is helping allies of the administration sift through mountains of databy targeting specific reporters and submitting key dates around policy shifts and press coverage that will supposedly show coordination between government agencies and the national media.

In some cases, he is providing this information to conservative and libertarian think tanks and policy shops;in others, he is giving it to personnel who worked in and around the Trump campaign. “In a sense,it’s a crowdsourced effortbecause all sorts of different watchdogs are zeroing in on various areas where they have particular expertise and thenchanneling that guidance to the incoming teams across the whole federal bureaucracy,” McCarthy says. “For us, that’s knowing the outlets and journalists that have been carrying water for the government to drive hostility toward our clients and their industries.”…

“There’s a huge group of stakeholders who really care and who areinterested to know if the New York Timeshas been putting a thumb on the scale in the way the issues have been described and reported to the public,” McCarthy adds.“If it turns out that they were actually taking marching orders from the agenciesor sending their articles in advance or promising a certain kind of coverage, the credibility of that coverage will be demolished.”

Once the data is harvested, it will be made public in one of two ways, McCarthy expects. The first would be on an individual basis via a formal FOIA request. “In the past, you had to make the FOIA so surgically precise; otherwise, you’d never get results or it’d take years and years,” he says. “In this case, you’ll be able to open the aperture much wider to say, ‘We’d like to request all of the email and text interaction between senior FDA leadershipand these two dozen news outlets,’ and there would be a huge tranche that would result from that” — potentially giving interested parties unprecedented access to the workings of journalists. The second method, which McCarthy is hoping for,is to open-source the documentationas Elon Musk did with the Twitter Files.

=How much of the correspondence between journalists and agency officials turns out to just be run-of-the-millsourcing remains to be seen, though Trump officials will likely claim evidence of a conspiracy no matter what is uncovered, potentially exposing individual journalists to threats and vitriol from Trump’s supporters and the right-wing media.

“I don’t know for sure, but I would bet a bottle of Irish whiskey that it’s going to be jaw-dropping coziness and coordination,” McCarthy tells me. In any case, he won’t waste what he sees as the opportunity of a lifetime. Mexico President Sheinbaum Warns Against US Military Strikes On Cartels

In the wake of President Trump's designation of several Latin American drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum on Thursday warned the White House against military action inside her country.

"This cannot be an opportunity for the U.S. to invade our sovereignty," she told reporters. "With Mexico, it is collaboration and coordination, never subordination or interventionism, and even less invasion."

Her remarks followed Wednesday's US State Department announcement that it had designated eight Latin American drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations. In addition to the notorious Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua that has been raising hell inside the United States, the list included Mexico's two principal drug traffickers: the Jalisco Nueva Generacion and Sinaloa cartels.

The move fulfilled a promise Trump made during his 2024 election campaign. While the most likely initial actions will center on the legal and financial fronts, the terrorist designation opens the door for military action against the cartels. In the wake of the announcement, Trump advisor Elon Musk tweeted, "That means they're eligible for drone strikes."

Sheinbaum, however, warned against unilateral US military action:

“The Mexican people will under no circumstances accept interventions, intrusions or any other action from abroad that is detrimental to the integrity, independence or sovereignty of the nation... [including] violations of Mexican territory, whether by land, sea or air.”

Earlier, Sheinbaum said she had approved US surveillance drone flights over Mexico. That claim came after CNN reported that the administration tapped the CIA to use unarmed MQ-9 drones to monitor the cartels. The secret missions were communicated to members of Congress, with the description of the undertaking making no mention of a partnership with the Mexican government.

There have also been indications of US Air Force RC-135V aircraft performing signal intelligence (SIGINT) missions inside Mexican airspace. Meanwhile, the Mexican Senate Commission has given the green light for US Special Forces deployment inside Mexico for "training missions."

Sheinbaum has said she opposes a terrorist designation out of concern that US government actions under such a designation may violate Mexican sovereignty, arguing that the two countries should work in mutual consultation and collaboration. Last week, Sheinbaum threatened to retaliate for a terrorist-designation by expanding Mexico's lawsuit against several American gun manufacturers, including Smith & Wesson, Barrett, Colt and Sturm, Ruger & Co:

“If they were to decree organized crime groups as terrorists, we would have to expand the lawsuit in the United States because as the Department of Justice itself has already acknowledged that 74% of the arms of criminal groups come from the United States then how are the arms manufacturers and distributors affected by the decree? The lawyers are looking at it, but they could be accomplices.”

The move toward the US terror designation began with a Day One executive order from Trump tasking the State Department with evaluating that avenue. "The cartels have engaged in a campaign of violence and terror throughout the Western Hemisphere that has not only destabilized countries with significant importance for our national interests but also flooded the United States with deadly drugs, violent criminals, and vicious gangs," Trump wrote.

Iowa Republicans have advanced a bill that would make bringing children to drag shows a felony punishable by up to five years in prison and a fine between $1,025 and $10,245.

House Study Bill 158 also states that businesses could be fined $10,000 for allowing minors to attend drag performances, including “story hours.”

Anyone over 18 who brings a minor to a drag show would be guilty of a class “D” felony. A parent or legal guardian bringing a child to a drag show may face civil action of $10,000 to $50,000 for each violation of the law.

Opponents of the bill argued that the language is too vague and could make it a crime for someone who identifies as “transgender” to speak in front of anyone under 18.

The bill defines a “drag show” as any performance where the performer “exhibits a gender identity that is different than the performer’s gender assigned at birth.” This will include clothing, makeup, or any “other gender signifiers.”

The law will apply to any performance where “The performer sings, lip-syncs, dances, reads, or otherwise performs before an audience for entertainment, whether or not performed for payment.”

Dozens of protesters gathered outside during the vote on Tuesday, with many chanting “trans rights” and “drag is not a crime.”

Republican Rep. Helena Hayes said the bill will be tweaked so children are not banned from genuine art performances.

“You cannot say that if we want to address the content of drag performances, that automatically makes us anti-trans,” Hayes said, according to a report from the Des Moines Register.

“This is not about banning drag shows for adults,” Oliver Bardwell, with Iowans For Freedom, said. “It’s not about stifling freedom of expression. It’s about keeping adult content where it belongs: With adults.”

Kiev should compensate Washington with rare-earth minerals and oil, the president said

Ukraine must compensate the US for all the assistance provided to Kiev during its conflict with Moscow, President Donald Trump has said. His comments add to the public spat between him and Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky over the issue of aid and negotiations with Russia.

“Europe has given $100 billion. The United States has given $350 billion because we had a stupid, incompetent president and administration,” he told the audience at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Maryland on Saturday.

“I want them to give us something for all of the money that we put up. So, we’re asking for rare earth and oil, anything we can get,” he added. “So, we’re getting our money back. We’re going to get our money back because it’s not fair. It’s just not fair.”

Since February 2022, the US Congress has appropriated $183 billion for Ukraine, including more than $66 billion in security assistance, according to the Pentagon and Ukraine Oversight, the interagency group tasked with presenting reports to Congress.

Trump has repeatedly stressed that Kiev and its European backers must provide an account about all the funds and has insisted that Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky was on a “gravy train” with American money during the Biden administration.

Zelensky, who stated recently that Ukraine would have a “low chance” without American help, has refused to sign a deal that would have granted US companies 50% ownership of the country’s mineral resources. He later argued that any deal must also include concrete security guarantees for Kiev. Trump, for his part, told reporters at the White House that, if signed, the minerals agreement could bring up to $500 billion to the US.

Trump has ramped up his criticism of Zelensky this week, branding him “a dictator without elections” and accusing him of squandering an opportunity to make peace with Russia. He insisted that Ukraine was in no position to complain about being sidelined during the US-Russian talks, which took place in Riyadh on Tuesday.

“If you don’t have God in those moments, you will go insane,” Mugg said.

“When they offered me 30 to 36 months and begged me, my lawyer begged me to take a plea deal, I fired him. I turned it down, they hit me with a superseding indictment,” Mugg said.

“This was solely to do one thing, to get you to rat out Donald Trump, correct? If you had done that, you walked out,” Bannon said.

“They will use any American, they will destroy them to try to get to Trump,” Bannon said.

Yemen’s Houthi rebels fired surface-to-air missiles at a US fighter jet over the Red Sea in the first attack of its kind, Fox News reported Saturday.

U.S. military officials are describing the launch as a significant escalation in the Iran-backed group’s ongoing conflict with Israel’s allies in the war with Gaza.

The missile fired at the American warplane did not hit its target, according to the report.

The F-16 fighter was flying over the Red Sea when the Houthis fired surface-to-air missiles targeting the jet, which was flying outside of rebel-controlled areas of Yemen.

Senior U.S. military officials told Fox this was the first time the Houthis fired SAMs at an American F-16.

U.S. military ships are stationed in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab Strait to defend and escort commercial ships in order to protect them from Houthi attacks, which started in earnest after the Oct. 7, 2023 Hamas attack in Israel that sparked the war in Gaza.

Now, officials in Washington will have to decide how to counter the Houthis, which were removed from the State Department’s terror list in 2021 and returned in January 2024 after they started their campaign in support of Hamas.

The Navy shot down or intercepted all of the missiles and drones fired at their warships by the Houthis so far, though sometimes the interceptions have occurred seconds before impact.

New FBI leader Kash Patel tapped to run ATF as acting director

FBI Director Kash Patel will be tapped to run the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), two sources confirmed to Fox News Digital on Saturday.

The news comes a day after Patel was sworn in as the ninth FBI director in a narrow Senate vote.

Former FBI Director Christopher Wray resigned at the end of former President Biden's term and Attorney General Pam Bondi fired the ATF general counsel, Pamela Hicks, on Thursday.

"Earlier today, I was served official notice from the Attorney General of the United States that I was being removed from my position as the Chief Counsel of ATF and my employment with the Department of Justice terminated," Hicks posted on her LinkedIn page Thursday, confirming her termination.

Hicks had served as ATF's chief counsel since 2021 under the Biden administration, and served as deputy chief counsel for ATF under President Donald Trump's first administration. She spent 23 years overall as an attorney within the Department of Justice (DOJ), she posted to LinkedIn.

"Serving as ATF Chief Counsel has been the highest honor of my career and working with the people at ATF and throughout the Department has been a pleasure," Hicks continued in her post. "I thank my colleagues for their friendship and partnership over the years."

"These people were targeting gun owners," Bondi told Fox News on Thursday of the ATF. "Not gonna happen under this administration."

Both the FBI and ATF are part of the DOJ.
