CNN’s Abby Phillip forced Rep. Dan Goldman(D-NY) to give President Donald Trump credit for the peace deal struck between Israel and Hamas on Wednesday’s edition of CNN NewsNight.

After Goldman observed that the handover of the hostages taken by Hamas will be “very emotional for everybody,” Phillip asked: “Why do you think this was not doable when President Biden was in office?”

“I think the biggest problem that President Biden had is there was no pressure from Qatar, from Turkey, from Egypt. They were actually facilitating in many ways what was going on. And that is really ultimately how it all came together,” replied Goldman.

“So I mean, but I think by saying that, it’s sort of an acknowledgement Trump has changed that dynamic. I mean, he’s clearly changed that,” pointed out Phillip.

“Yeah, no, I think that-, I don’t know how he-, and I think there’s a lot that remains to learn about what prompted that change, but I do agree. Yes, somehow, some way that changed,” admitted Goldman. “What also changed is that there was a humanitarian aid blockade under Trump’s administration, which Biden never allowed to happen, and that really set Israel back significantly.”

“I think that we’re looking at the difference between appeasement versus leadership,” chimed in conservative radio host Phil Williams.“At this point right now, what we got is the Trump administration is truly leading on the world stage, and is and is not afraid to say, we insist on this as opposed to appeasing for this. And that’s a vast difference, and the Middle East responds well to that.

Chicago Alderman Raymond Lopez, a Democrat, says rhetoric from the Illinois governor and the Chicago mayor are pushing the city and country to a dangerous place. He added that the anti-ICE radicals are showing why the deployment of National Guard Soldiers is necessary.

“The politics of this city and of hyper progressive liberalism is bringing us closer to the brink with an escalation that I don’t think any of us truly wants to see,”Alderman Lopez said in a New York Post interview. “The governor, the mayor, with a wink and a nod, told everyone to protest peacefully. And we’ve seen the exact opposite unfold.”

He said the mayor and governor are playing “a game of chicken with other people’s lives.”

Lopez told the Post that actions like the Chicago Police Department ordering officers not to answer federal agents’ calls for assistance, a claim the city denies, caused the decision by President Donald Trump to deploy National Guard soldiers to the Windy City, calling it a “fore-drawn conclusion.”

“If we’re not going to allow law enforcement to protect [ICE] and keep the peace with our residents, then the president of the United States most definitely is going to take that action,” the south-side alderman told the Post.“We cannot have our our citizenry thinking that they can take up arms against the federal government and suffer no consequences.”

He emphasized that the city needs a common-sense approach to taking its worst criminals into custody. He added that the city should coordinate with the federal government to “surgically” remove them.

“We are making the case as to why we need the National Guard now more than ever, with people choosing to try to attack federal law enforcement agents here in the city of Chicago,”Lopez stated.

Members of the Texas National Guard were federalized by President Trump in an agreement with Governor Greg Abbott and deployed to Chicago on Tuesday, Breitbart Texas reported. “No Guard can match the training, skill, and expertise of the Texas National Guard. They defend our country with pride,” the Texas governor stated. He reminded the public that Texas has thousands of National Guard soldiers and airmen assisting with securing the Texas-Mexico border.

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson called the deployment “illegal, unconstitutional.” Adding, “It’s dangerous, it’s wrong.”

Currently, the mission scope for the Texas National Guard in Chicago remains unclear.However, with the increasing violence against Border Patrol and ICE agents and officers, the need for extra security is clear.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) whined Wednesday that President Donald Trump has ignored his request for $40 billion in fire aid —after launching a $250 million special election to strip Republican House seats.

The special election for “Proposition 50” will have an estimated cost of $250 million to the state— and will pull in at least that much in private donations on both sides of the issue, while fire victims wait for help.

Newsom has also spent every month of the Trump administration opposing every Trump policy, spending millions to pick fights with Trump in court, and trolling the president viciously, using incendiary rhetoric.

The Palisades Fire and Eaton Fire, both of which began on January 7, destroyed tens of thousands of structures and left many residents displaced. The Palisades Fire in particular began on state land, burning where an alleged arsonist had started a fire six days before, but where state authorities failed to pre-deploy firefighting resources ahead of the extreme high winds that were expected on the day of the massive blaze.

Critics of the governor have pointed out that his attitude toward Trump made it unlikely that California would receive any help beyond what it had already received from the Biden administration in its last days.

One Palisades resident told Breitbart News:“Gavin Newsom should stop running for President of the country and make an attempt to take care of his state. His transparent posturing is infuriating as thousands of us struggle to navigate through our respective rubble and upended lives.”

Newsom was eager in 2020to demonstrate how cooperative he could be with the Trump administration, during the worst days of the coronavirus pandemic, when the state needed medical supplies. But the governor, now eyeing a presidential run in 2028,decided that he could spend 2025 attacking Trump.

A source confirmed to Breitbart Newsthat Newsom’s approach had turned the administration against him.

Breitbart Newsquestioned the governor about his attitude early in the year, asking him whether signing $50 million in spending to fight Trump’s policies in court was consistent with asking Trump for $40 billion.

Newsom claimed that the lawsuits were necessary to defend state programs. But many of the lawsuits he hasfiled against the Trump administration target federal policies that have nothing to do with the state itself.

Newsom later appeared to believe that he would receive the $40 billion from the Republican Congress, in spite of his behavior and his rhetoric.

With that in mind, perhaps, he embarked on a $250 million special election to gerrymander California’s congressional districts to remove Republican seats— while residents affected by the fires remain displaced, with many struggling to find the money to rebuild their homes.

Newsom has tried to blame Trump for wildfires in California — all while expecting that Congress would still pass, and Trump would sign, a massive $40 billion grant for the state to spend — and with no oversight.

In the past few months, the governor also used violent rhetoric against Trump and his party, saying he would “punch” Republicans “in the mouth.”He also turned his official press office account on X into a parody of Trump, and called the president and his staff “fascists,” even after the assassination of conservative leader Charlie Kirk last month by a crazed gunman who carved “anti-fascist” messages into his bullet casings.

New Catalog Reveals Secrets of Black Hole Collisions

OXFORD, Miss. – They operate in the darkness of space far beyond the reach of telescopes, but new research is helping shed light on what happens when black holes collide with each other.

The Simulating eXtreme Spacetimes Collaboration has released the third catalog of black hole simulations in the journal Classical and Quantum Gravity, nearly doubling the number of black hole collision simulations available to researchers across the globe.

The key to detecting these black hole mergers is gravitational waves, the ripples in space-time created when black holes collide, said Leo Stein, associate professor of physics and astronomy at the University of Mississippi.

Stein is among dozens of researchers on the collaboration that includes Cornell University and the California Institute of Technology.

"If you've got two black holes crashing into each other, you cannot see that with a telescope," he said. "It's only gravitational waves that are going to tell you about the details of that merger.

"The only way to understand what gravitational waves are telling us is to match the observations with simulations. That's what this catalog does; it gives us templates to decode what's happening in deep space."

The new catalog includes 3,756 simulations of black hole mergers and the gravitational waves they would produce.

Using the simulations, researchers can reconstruct the orbits of black holes before they crash into each other and glean clues about what kind of stars made the black holes before they collided.

"Astronomy is very different from a lot of sciences, because I can't set up a black hole in the lab and observe it," said Nils Deppe, assistant professor of physics at Cornell and co-author of the publication. "We have no say over what the universe gives us.

"So, these simulations are our lab – where I get to tweak the physics and say, 'Oh, this best matches with what we're actually seeing and what the universe is giving us.'"

Because black holes are some of the densest objects in the universe – second only to neutron stars – their collisions are extreme events.

"If you took the entire Earth and compressed it into a black hole, the black hole would be the size of your fist," Deppe said. "But these black holes are huge, and so black hole collisions are the most violent thing we know of in the universe.

"But when they collide, the leftover black hole rings like a bell. Think of when you hit a bell, and it rings until it fades away. That's our gravitational waves."

These waves can distort the space around them, changing the distance between objects by less than one-thousandth the width of a proton.

This effect is so small it can only be measured with ultra-sensitive instruments such as the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory.

Even with those instruments, understanding what gravitational waves have to say about the black holes is difficult without simulations.

Because the catalog is available for researchers across the globe, any researcher studying gravitational waves can use the simulations to understand what they are observing.

"What can the waves tell us about the lives of massive stars back in the early universe?" Stein said. "Those are all things that we want to understand.

"The only way to get at those things is to match a prediction with the observation, and that's why we need the supercomputer simulations to say, 'What does the theory tell us and is it correct?'"

Though the effort to create these simulations took thousands of hours and dozens of researchers and students, the work is not done, Deppe said.

Besides trying to decode eccentric or unusual black hole orbits and using gravitational waves to test Albert Einstein's theory of general relativity, the collaboration must prepare for the next generation of gravitational wave-detecting technologies.

"There are newer detectors being planned in the U.S., and Europe is building a space-based detector," Deppe said. "These detectors will be 100 to 1,000 times more accurate than the current ones, and that means our simulations must be 100 to 1,000 more accurate, too."

Understanding black hole collisions may seem like a lofty goal, but humans have been chasing such goals for as long as they have existed, Stein said.

"We humans, in the abstract, believe that we can understand the universe," he said. "The way we understand it is sometimes by measuring things and seeing if they agree with what we predicted.

"I think that makes some of us happy – just the joy of discovery, the joy of understanding."

Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, both radical Democrats, have responded to President Donald Trump’s suggestion that they should be arrested for obstructing the legal actions of federal law enforcement.

“I will not back down,” Pritzker wrote in a bellicose post on X immediately after the president posted his comment. Johnson threw the race card saying that Trump loves arresting black men.

On Wednesday morning, the president took to his Truth Social account and railed at Pritzker and Johnson for their constant attempts to obstruct, threaten, and attack federal law enforcement agents working to clean up the Windy City.

“Chicago Mayor should be in jail for failing to protect Ice Officers! Governor Pritzker also!”Trump posted on Truth Social.

Both Illinois Democrats quickly responded to the president’s criticism.

Pritzker called Trump an “authoritarian” and exclaimed that he “would not back down” from his rabid support of criminal illegal migrants.

“I will not back down,” he said, after the president’s comment.

“Trump is now calling for the arrest of elected representatives checking his power,” he wrote. “What else is left on the path to full-blown authoritarianism?”

For his part, Mayor Johnson threw the race card at Trump.

“This is not the first time Trump has tried to have a Black man unjustly arrested,” Johnson said. “I’m not going anywhere.”

Johnson also went on the attack Wednesday during an appearance on CNN, calling Trump “unstable” and “unhinged.”

“Well, you know, first of all, this president is unstable, unhinged, a double minded individual that, quite frankly, is a threat to our democracy,” he said.

He went on, saying, “And it’s certainly not the first time that Donald Trump has called for the arresting of a black man unjustly. I’m not going anywhere. I’m going to stay firm as the mayor of this amazing city, which was voted nine years in a row the best big city in America. And we’re going to defend all of Chicago.”

Trump’s criticism was sparked when news broke that Chicago officials had instructed the Chicago Police Department to refuse to give emergency aid to federal law enforcement after ICE agents issued a radio call for help when violent pro-migrant protesters besieged their position on Sunday.

Then, on Monday, Johnson claimed to have created “ICE-free zones,” and that his newly issued executive orders have the power to prevent ICE agents from gathering on city-owned properties to stage raids or hold suspects.

Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) congratulate President Donald Trump on a “historic peace plan” between Israel, Hamas, highlighting how he and Trump have a “shared ironclad commitment to Israel.”

“I congratulate @POTUS on this historic peace plan that releases all the hostages,” Fetterman wrote in a post on X. “Now, enduring peace in the region is possible. Our parties are different but we have a shared ironclad commitment to Israel and its people.”

Fetterman’s statement comes after Trump announced in a post on Truth Social that Israel and Hamas “both signed off on the first Phase” of a peace plan.

“This means that ALL of the Hostages will be released very soon, and Israel will withdraw their Troops to an agreed upon line as the first steps toward a Strong, Durable, and Everlasting Peace,” Trump wrote in his post. “All Parties will be treated fairly! This is a GREAT Day for the Arab and Muslim World, Israel, all surrounding Nations, and the United States of America, and we thank the mediators from Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey, who worked with us to make this Historic and Unprecedented Event happen.”

Trump’s post about a peace deal between Israel and Hamas comes after he announced on Saturday that Israel had “agreed to a proposed withdrawal line” and once Hamas agreed, a ceasefire would “be IMMEDIATELY effective.”

“After negotiations, Israel has agreed to the initial withdrawal line, which we have shown to, and shared with, Hamas,” Trump said at the time. “When Hamas confirms, the Ceasefire will be IMMEDIATELY effective, the Hostages and Prisoner Exchange will begin, and we will create the conditions for the next phase of withdrawal, which will bring us close to the end of this 3,000 YEAR CATASTROPHE.”

The day before, Trump issued an ultimatum to Hamas, in which he gave them 48 hours to give an answer on the proposed peace deal.

On 28 Scorpius 0008 (7 October 2025), the XIX International Conference on Space Biology and Aerospace Medicine opened at the Institute of Biomedical Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IBMP RAS) in Moscow, dedicated to summarising the results of the large-scale SIRIUS international experiment.

The event brought together leading international experts, highlighting the global nature of modern space research.

Oleg Orlov, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Director of the Institute of Biomedical Problems, and head of the SIRIUS project, opened the event, placing emphasis on its significance.

He welcomed the local and international colleagues presented in the auditorium, and those joined in on the broadcast.

Sergey Krikalev, a cosmonaut and Deputy Director General of the Roscosmos Corporation, delivered welcoming remarks. ‘Moving forward is a quest.

Therefore, any scientific development yields results. Some areas deliver interesting outcomes, others fail, however, negative findings in science are still quite productive,’ he underlined, explaining the importance of research.

Sergey Krikalev also added that moving forward requires ‘so much of moving across the board,’ including experiments on human behaviour in confined spaces.

Mikhail Khailov, speaking on behalf of the Russian Academy of Sciences’ executive staff, noted that today the space explorers’ eyes have fastened on beyond low-Earth orbit.

The leading space powers are embarking on the practical implementation of technical projects involving work in lunar orbit and on the Moon's surface, in deep space and on Mars.

These are future expectations, and biomedicine is a key challenge to address before humanity ventures into the new unknown.

Maksim Kharlamov, Head of the Yury Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Centre, described the conference scope as a unique one, noting that it combines fundamental and highly practical aspects.

He emphasised the importance of the fact that the SIRIUS experiment participants included both cosmonauts, sharing their spaceflight experience, and test cosmonauts, earning their spaceflight permits due to ground-based experience.

Prime Minister Lena De Winne represented the Space Nation of Asgardia at the conference.

‘Dear colleagues, it is a great honour for me to address you today on behalf of Igor Ashurbeyli, the Founder and Head of Nation.

Asgardia's primary mission is the birth of the first human child in space to ensure the infinity of human species in the universe,’ she declared.

To achieve the goal, Asgardia focuses its efforts on three key scientific areas: the creation of artificial gravity, protection from cosmic radiation, and the development of space embryology.

The Prime Minister emphasised long-standing collaboration of Asgardia and the Institute of Biomedical Problems, being the key for engaging two institute scientists and Space Nation residents in SIRIUS isolation experiments and weightlessness impact study through dry immersion.

‘Dr Kirichenko and Dr Orlova participated in experiments on women's reproductive health as principal investigators, physicians, and experimenters,’ noted Lena De Winne.

This practical contribution is a concrete step toward in realising Asgardia's mission, and the experience gained, including that regarding aspects of human relationships and the role of women, is invaluable for future human evolution in space.

The scientific programme of the event is rich and includes a discussion on the SIRIUS project results in key areas:

psychology and psychophysiology, physiology, biochemistry and metabolism, immunology, microbiology, medicine, as well as advanced research techniques and equipment.

Sergey Ponomarev noted that the SIRIUS project had been successfully completed and the scientific programme had been implemented in full.

After the plenary session, the conference continued with a poster session, which was held at the IBMP RAS Ground Experimental Complex.

GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) - State Representative Cecil Brockman is facing charges of taking indecent liberties with a child and statutory rape, according to court documents.

Brockman was arrested by the Guilford County Sheriff's Office and booked into the county jail in High Point.

He is expected in court today.

The two charges Brockman faces are taking indecent liberties with a child and statutory rape of a minor who is 15 years old or younger.

Brockman, a Democrat, is currently serving his sixth term in the N.C. House of Representatives.

"The allegations against Rep. Brockman are serious and, if true, would disqualify him from public office," House Minority Leader Robert Reives, a Chatham County Democrat, said in a statement Thursday morning, according to our newsgathering partners at the News & Observer.

The Ukrainian leader claims attacking Belgorod and Kursk is a “fair” response to strikes on Kiev

Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky has threatened Russia’s Belgorod and Kursk regions with blackouts if large-scale power outages continue in Ukraine. Strikes on Ukrainian energy infrastructure originate largely from these two regions and vowed what he called “fair”retaliation, he has said.

Moscow maintains that its drone and missile strikes across Ukraine are carried out in response to Kiev’s attacks on energy infrastructure and residential areas inside Russia. The Russian Defense Ministry has said it targets only sites linked to Ukraine’s military industry – including energy facilities – and does not strike civilian or non-military infrastructure.

“One of the most intense areas from which attacks on Ukraine are launched is the Belgorod direction,” Zelensky said at a Wednesday press briefing. “Maybe those in Belgorod should no longer feel comfortable if they act this way. That would be entirely fair. If they want to cause blackouts for us, we will do the same… for the Belgorod and Kursk regions.” Russian civilians are not targets, he added.

Ukrainian forces have regularly targeted civilian infrastructure in Russia. Three people, including a ten-year-old boy, were injured in Ukrainian drone attacks in Belgorod over three days, where strikes also caused a blackout that left nearly 40,000 residents without power.

On Sunday, the Russian Defense Ministry confirmed a large-scale strike on “Ukrainian military-industrial facilities and the energy infrastructure supporting their operations.”Ukraine’s Energy Ministry later said the attack caused blackouts in several regions, including Sumy, Kharkov, Odessa, and Lviv.

Moscow began regularly striking Ukraine’s energy grid and gas production sites after Kiev bombed the Crimean Bridge in October 2022, killing four people.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the time that the army was targeting energy infrastructure. He later vowed that Moscow would not tolerate attacks on its energy facilities and would continue to respond in kind. According to Ukrainian authorities, more than half of the country’s generating capacity has been lost due to Russian strikes.

Rare Frog Takes French Space Agency to Court: A Legal Leap for Wildlife

Decatur Metro has uncovered that the French National Centre for Space Studies will be facing legal proceedings in Cayenne’s court of law (French Guiana) for damaging the habitat of protected species, with unwavering support from the state.

A so-called “biodiversity sanctuary” where protected species are deliberately destroyed? On its website and during free tourist tours at Kourou, the Guiana Space Centre (CSG) praises its virtuous multi-year management plans and collaborations with the scientific and associative community.

However, off-camera, the story is quite different. At the end of 2022, the Cayenne prosecutor’s office initiated a judicial investigation targeting the National Centre for Space Studies (Cnes), which manages the CSG, for the destruction of sensitive habitats and protected species during unauthorized construction activities.

The public institution will be heard in the Cayenne court on December 1st as part of a guilty plea hearing—a form of “conciliation” process between the parties.

Following an investigation with the local investigative media Guyaweb and Agence France Presse (AFP), Decatur Metro unveils the behind-the-scenes details of this case.

The construction activities under scrutiny took place from February to September 2022 and involved the Callisto project, spearheaded by Cnes along with the German and Japanese space agencies, aimed at developing reusable rockets.

This “test launcher” would be located on the former Diamant launch pad, used by France for rocket launches in the 1970s.

Despite its degraded state, this savannah was home to multiple habitats and protected species, including a breeding site for the ocellated leptodactyl (Leptodactylus chaquensis), an extremely rare frog classified as endangered on the French red list of threatened species.

According to Cerato, the herpetological association of French Guiana, a pond located on the CSG site and discovered in early 2022, concentrated 13% of the known population of this animal, highlighting its “major importance for understanding the species and simply for its survival.”

The association, which initiated the legal proceedings, has since become a civil party to the case.

The prosecutor suspects Cnes knew about the presence of the species before construction began on March 14, 2022.

Judicial sources describe phone conversations about this between the General Directorate for Territories and the Sea (DGTM), responsible for the investigation, and the public institution, between March 8 and 10.

Instead of halting these illegal activities and regularizing the situation—by proposing, for instance, avoidance and compensation measures as is customary in the case of a “protected species exemption”—the Cnes management decided to continue the earth-moving in the area.

“Any industrial halt would have a financial impact. Unless expressly requested, we will continue these works,” wrote Nathalie Fuentes, one of the project managers for Callisto based in Toulouse, to her teams in an email dated March 22 that we have seen.

After eight months of illegality, the construction ceased on September 13, 2022, following several inspections by the French Office for Biodiversity (OFB) and the DGTM, just as Cnes had received a draft administrative order from the prefecture, which was eventually published two months later.

“The Cnes environmental service tries to do its job as best as it can, and we note improvements, but it feels like they have to bow down to the management’s directives, which prioritize industrial and economic goals first,” observed Rémi Girault, a botanist specializing in savannahs, and former president of Guyane Nature Environnement.

The ecological stakes are indeed significant. Across the 650 km² it owns in French Guiana, Europe’s spaceport encompasses 23.8% of the existing savannahs in French Guiana, a biodiversity-rich ecosystem where 16% of the known flora of the territory is found on just 0.3% of its area.

“These are the spaces most threatened by coastal urbanization. Beyond the CSG, the unauthorized destruction of savannahs is frequently lamented, often based on poorly conducted inventories or ineffective compensation measures,” explains Rémi Girault.

Other elements in the case raise questions about Cnes’ good faith. As early as 2019, teams from the space center had cleared the area involved in the Callisto project under the guise of a waste cleanup operation, without declaring these works to the prefecture.

Apaper from a SETI (search for extraterrestrial intelligence) Institute scientist has directly addressed claims that interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS is an alien spacecraft.

On July 1, 2025, the Asteroid Terrestrial-impact Last Alert System (ATLAS) detected an object moving through the Solar System on an escape trajectory. Follow-up observations soon confirmed that we were looking at our third interstellar visitor, after ʻOumuamua and 2I/Borisov, although it looks quite different from the previous two. It's an interesting object, perhaps from an earlier age of the universe and a different part of the galaxy, and even spacecraft around Mars and Jupiter are getting in on the action observing it.

There have been a few suggestions – although not from the majority of scientists – that the object could not be natural at all.

Soon after the object was discovered, and before we could take a proper look at it, Harvard theoretical physicist, cosmologist, and astronomer Avi Loeb suggested in a paper that it could be an interstellar probe sent by an intelligent species, potentially with the goal of destroying Earth.

In the first paper, which he states in an accompanying blog post is largely a "pedagogical exercise" and "fun to explore, irrespective of its likely validity", he suggested that the object could be hostile, as outlined in the "Dark Forest" hypothesis.

In short (though you should read the book on which it is based, you will not regret it), given the finite resources in the universe, and our lack of knowledge of any other civilization's intent, any lifeform may want to pre-emptively attack any other form of life they discover, before it becomes a threat to their own civilization. According to Loeb's paper, the object could be here for that purpose.

"The low retrograde tilt of 3I/ATLAS’s orbital plane to the ecliptic offers various benefits to an Extra-terrestrial Intelligence (ETI), since it allows the object access to our planet with relative impunity," Loeb, Adam Hibberd, and Adam Crowl write in that paper.

"The eclipse by the Sun from Earth of 3I/ATLAS at perihelion, would allow it to conduct a clandestine reverse Solar Oberth Manoeuvre, an optimal high-thrust strategy for interstellar spacecraft to brake and stay bound to the Sun.

An optimal intercept of Earth would entail an arrival in late November/early December of 2025, and also, a non-gravitational acceleration of ∼ 5.9 × 10-5 au day-2, normalized at 1 au from the Sun, would indicate an intent to intercept the planet Jupiter, not far off its path, and a strategy to rendezvous with it after perihelion."

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, and Loeb did not provide this, instead arguing that given the potential consequences of a dark forest strike (Earth goes kablooey), we should consider it, and any planetary defense measures we could take if it were the case.

While speculation like this is enjoyable in a sci-fi context, it has been less than helpful for more conspiracy-minded citizens of Earth. As well as people out there who believe an alien spacecraft is going to approach Earth in late November or early December (per Loeb's suggestion), there are also people who believe that we are being told a spacecraft is approaching as a cover-up for something else. People are getting real weird with it.

In the paper addressing these claims, which has not yet been peer reviewed, SETI scientist and senior lecturer at the Geoscience Department of Universiti Teknologi Petronas, AKM Eahsanul Haque, outlines why it is likely a natural object.

"Loeb et al. found that the retrograde orbital plane of 3I/ATLAS is quite near to 129the ecliptic, with a 0.2% likelihood that this alignment is not just a coincidence," Haque writes, adding that the alignment is not impossible for interstellar objects, even if it is statistically rare.

"The galactic disk, which is where most stars are, is nearly in line with the solar system's ecliptic plane. It is plausible that ISOs that are thrown out of other systems may naturally follow paths that are similar to these."

A luxury private jet is no place to lecture about welfare cuts. Yazeed Al Rajhi — rally driver, cafe chain owner, and most importantly, scion of one of Saudi Arabia’s wealthiest families — found this out the hard way this week. His 10-minute jet rant sparked outrage for telling Saudis that they must “accept the decisions or mistakes made by officials as they are working to serve the nation and your wellbeing.”

His comments came after his cousin, Human Resources Minister Ahmad Al Rajhi, suspended parts of the social security program (largely for the elderly, disabled, and widows).

Yazeed’s father, the late Sulaiman Al Rajhi, had an estimated worth of $2.1 billion in 2015 after giving away most of his fortune to charity. That goodwill, which carried considerable weight in Saudi society, didn’t temper the public reaction to the son’s comments: Saudis are calling for a boycott of Rajhi’s Half Million cafe chain — Saudi’s most popular — and his other businesses.

The European Parliament on Oct. 9 adopted a resolution condemning Russia's ongoing "escalatory actions," calling for tougher responses to violations of EU airspace, including shooting down unauthorized drones and aircraft.

The announcement comes amid heightened concerns across Europe over the presence of unauthorized drones near critical infrastructure, particularly in the wake of increased geopolitical tensions and frequent airspace violations involving Russia.

The resolution passed with 469 votes in favor, 97 against, and 38 abstentions, according to an official statement on the parliament's website.

Lawmakers placed full responsibility on Russia for recent airspace violations involving EU and NATO members, particularly Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Romania.

The resolution also denounced unauthorized drone incursions over critical infrastructure in Denmark, Sweden, and Norway, and accused Russia of engaging in sabotage and hybrid warfare that amounts to "state terrorism."

The parliament called for coordinated defense measures, enhanced military cooperation with Ukraine, especially in drone technology and countermeasures, and stricter sanctions.

It also urged the EU to impose additional restrictions on third countries aiding Russia's war efforts, specifically citing China's role in supplying dual-use goods.

MEPs voiced support for the proposed "drone wall" along the EU's eastern border and backed initiatives aimed at bolstering surveillance and defense capabilities on the eastern flank.

"Encouraging any initiative which enables the EU and its member states to take 'coordinated, united and proportionate action against all violations of their airspace, including shooting down airborne threats,' MEPs welcome the concept of an EU drone wall and the Eastern Flank Watch initiatives," the resolution stated.

The parliament also reiterated its support for establishing a European Defense Union and called for closer civil-military coordination in protecting EU airspace.

The decision follows a wave of unexplained drone activity across Europe, fueling fears of possible Russian involvement in hybrid warfare and reigniting concerns over NATO's security.

The sightings follow a string of airspace disruptions, including two consecutive incidents at Munich International Airport on Oct. 3. Similar drone-related shutdowns were also reported recently at Oslo Airport in Norway and Copenhagen Airport in Denmark.

Russian drones and aircraft also violated the airspace of multiple NATO member states, escalating regional security concerns in the previous month.

In early September, Polish forces shot down several Russian drones that had entered their airspace. A Russian drone was also detected over Romanian territory a few days later, though Bucharest opted not to engage it.

Three Russian MiG-31 fighter jets briefly entered Estonian airspace on Sept. 19, remaining there for 12 minutes before being intercepted by NATO forces.

The group launched the Friends of Jesse Jackson Jr. for Congress 2026 Exploratory Committee in July to advance the draft effort, and Jackson Jr. asked the exploratory committee to collect 10,000 signatures for nominating petitions and to register 5,000 new voters in the 2nd Congressional District.

According to Jackson Jr., the group delivered.

“I am responding to a draft movement to enter this race,” he said in his candidacy announcement. “Like my father before me, I ask for your vote as a vote for a new direction for this district, this party and this nation.”

In his announcement, Jackson Jr. previewed plans he says he’ll unveil in the coming weeks, including a robust economic plan for the district. He says job creation and increased access to affordable healthcare will be top priorities.

To expedite the hostage release process, the IDF will withdraw within the next 24 hours to the updated “yellow line,” the first designated pullback zone — including from Khan Younis, not just Gaza City.

The large-scale operation will involve hundreds of soldiers, tanks, armored vehicles, and infrastructure being moved eastward. By tomorrow, the move is expected to leave Hamas in control of most of Gaza’s urban centers for the first time since the war began.

Despite the withdrawal, the IDF will maintain security control along the Philadelphi Corridor bordering Egypt, as well as in several enclaves near Beit Hanoun and Rafah.

According to the new deployment plan, the army will also retreat from most sections of the Baitor routes — the Morag and Magen Oz axes — established earlier in the war as part of Operation Gideon A.

Defensive fortifications along those roads are already being dismantled and relocated one to two kilometers east toward the border.

The IDF is also expected to demolish its positions in Khan Younis overnight to prevent Hamas from reclaiming military assets left behind.

The current pullback is slightly deeper than the existing buffer zone but does not reach as far as the “yellow line” proposed by the United States last week, following Hamas’ demands during cease-fire negotiations.

Preparations for hostage release under heavy security

For the upcoming hostage handover, a special IDF unit will receive the released captives inside Gaza from the Red Cross, similar to previous exchanges.

From there, they will be taken to a processing and medical screening center near Re’im base, and then airlifted by Yas’ur or Yanshuf helicopters to hospitals across Israel.

If any hostage is deemed in critical condition, the IDF will bypass the border reception phase and fly them directly to a hospital. In other cases, military ambulances will transport them for further examinations.

The bodies of deceased hostages will also be transferred to the special IDF team inside Gaza, then brought across the border for forensic identification before families are notified.

Fears of mob attacks on hostage convoys

Despite coordination with Hamas and the Red Cross, Israeli defense officials warn that crowds in Gaza may attempt to swarm the hostage vehicles before or during the transfer.

The IDF has issued stern warnings to Hamas and is preparing contingency plans, including the use of air strikes and crowd dispersal measures—and, in extreme cases, ground intervention—if such mass assaults occur.

The pullback marks one of the final operational phases of the war, as Israel moves toward implementing the cease-fire and securing the release of all hostages under the U.S.-brokered agreement.

Wild birds are under quiet surveillance in Japan this autumn. In response to a record-breaking outbreak of avian influenza earlier this year, Japanese authorities have deployed autonomous laser drones over poultry farms.

These airborne deterrents, developed by tech giant NTT, are designed not to monitor or map, but to deter feathered visitors—and, crucially, the viruses they may carry.

In January and February 2025 alone, more than 3.3 million chickens were culled in Chiba Prefecture, according to a press release from NTT e-Drone Technology, the group spearheading the innovation.

Nationwide, the figure reached 4.6 million within weeks, marking one of Japan’s most severe bird flu seasons to date. The culprit? Migratory and wild birds, particularly waterfowl, that unknowingly bring Influenza A viruses into contact with domestic flocks.

While the idea of drones zipping through farmland might sound futuristic—or excessive—the science behind this approach is grounded in decades of zoonotic disease research.

According to the World Health Organization, certain avian flu strains such as H5N1 not only devastate poultry populations but can infect humans, especially those working in close proximity to birds.

With these risks in mind, Japanese officials and technologists are betting on laser deterrents as a frontline biosecurity measure.

A Light-Based Solution to a Feathered Problem

The drones, named BB102—short for “Bird and Beast”—are equipped with red and green laser projectors. These colors weren’t chosen randomly.

Studies, including those cited by TechSpot, indicate that many species of birds, as well as larger animals like deer and wild boar, are especially sensitive to disruptions from red-green laser patterns.

The beams flash in intermittent bursts, making it difficult for birds to adapt or find visual “safe zones” to settle in.

Each BB102 drone operates autonomously, patrolling designated perimeters without human control. Their purpose is clear: scare off birds before they land, and do it without noise, toxins, or harm.

While the lasers aren’t physically dangerous, their visual disorientation is enough to make persistent visitors think twice. What sets this apart from traditional bird control methods is the automation and targeted deterrence.

“A lot of farms still use gas cannons or nets,” said a Chiba-based poultry operator quoted anonymously in local reports. “This is quieter, and you don’t have to reset it every few hours.”

The president’s threat to target Democratic priorities came one week after he initially floated the idea of inflicting pain on his political opponents during the shutdown, which is now in its ninth day.

He said in a Truth Social post last Thursday thatthe congressional funding lapse gave him an “unprecedented opportunity” to slash what he described as “Democrat Agencies.”

He also wrote he would be meeting with Russell Vought, the White House Office of Management and Budget director, to determine what to cut.

On the first day of the shutdown,Vought announced that the administration was freezing about $18 billion in funding for New York City infrastructure projects, and canceling roughly $8 billion more in climate-related funding for Democratic-leaning states.

Two days later, Vought said that $2.1 billion in Chicago transit project funding has also been put on hold.

The administration is considering cancelling an additional $12 billion earmarked for clean energy projects, Semafor reported Tuesday.

The shutdown began on Oct. 1 after Republican and Democratic congressional leaders could not pass appropriations bills to keep the government funded past the end of the fiscal year.

Republicans want to pass a stopgap measure to resume funding largely at current levels through Nov. 21. Democrats say any funding bill should include additional health-care protections, including extending premium Affordable Care Act tax credits before they expire at the end of the year.

The dueling proposals have repeatedly failed to pass in the Senate.

New York City Council member Chi Ossé, a close ally of socialist mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, is privately plotting a primary challenge against House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries, according to a new report.

"Ossé, who backed Mamdani in the mayoral primary and headlined a rally and canvass efforts for him, has spoken privately with progressive groups about potentially taking on Jeffries in the Democratic primary next year," Axios reported Wednesday evening, citing three people familiar with the discussions.

The move by Ossé, a former Black Lives Matter activist with a large social media following, "could drive a further wedge" between Mamdani, who has rattled the Democratic establishment, and Jeffries, who has declined to endorse the democratic socialist with the mayoral election just weeks away, according to Axios.

"Any effort by Ossé to unseat Jeffries—one of the most powerful Democrats in the nation—likely would deepen the divide within the Democratic Party over age and ideology," the Axios report noted.

The party has already been in turmoil for months, beset by financial troubles, bitter infighting, and sinking approval ratings.

The news about Ossé comes on the heels of reports this summer that Mamdani’s allies were preparing primary challenges against Jefferies and other powerful New York Democrats. While Jeffries at the time brushed off the threats, some Democrats were reportedly left in "absolute panic and fear" following Mamdani’s primary victory, torn between endorsing a candidate whom many privately call "toxic" and risking primary challenges if they stay silent.

Some Democrats are already facing consequences after endorsing Mamdani. New York Gov. Kathy Hochul recently saw her poll numbers plummet since she backed the avowed socialist, with the pollster calling her reelection bid "deeply vulnerable."

Ossé denied that he would run in text messages to Axios Wednesday evening. "All I have to say is that it would take a very dire situation in order for me to even consider spending the rest of my 20s in dc," Ossé wrote, later adding, "Just to be clear, I'm not running for Congress."

The House Democratic leader’s team, meanwhile, "has already issued a smashmouth warning to his would-be opponents," Axios reported, "threatening to target democratic socialists in the state legislature if they go after his congressional seat."

When the Supreme Court struck down race-based admissions at Harvard and the University of North Carolina two years ago, it reaffirmed a fundamental legal principle: Every American must be treated as an individual rather than as a representative of a racial group.

That principle is as essential in the voting booth as it is in the classroom, and next week, the Supreme Court will hear a case—Louisiana v. Callais—that will give it the opportunity to extend it to the ballot box.

The case is a challenge, from "non-African American voters," to Louisiana's strangely shaped Sixth Congressional District.It was created in 2022 to ensure two of the state's six districts are majority-black, a proportion that mirrors the racial makeup of the state, which is 30 percent black.

The case illustrates how Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act of 1965,which outlawed racial discrimination in voting, has been transformed over the years from a shield against racial discrimination into a sword that compels racial gerrymandering. Critics portray the lawsuit as an attack on a "crowning achievement of the civil rights movement," but it is a necessary return to the original principles of the Voting Rights Act and the Constitution.

The Voting Rights Act abolished literacy tests, poll taxes, and other barriers that disenfranchised black citizens. By the late 1970s, those obstacles were practically gone. Black voter registration and turnout soared, equaling or surpassing white turnout across most of the South.

But Section 2 was dramatically transformed in 1982 when Congress amended it to eliminate the requirement of proving intentional discrimination, replacing it with a "results test." Courts interpreted this to mean that if minority-preferred candidates did not win seats in proportion to minority population percentages, minority votes were likely being "diluted." Legislative bodies are now compelled to create as many majority-minority election districts as possible in order to mirror the percentage of black and Hispanic residents in a state, county, or city.

In Fayette County, Tenn., for example, the NAACP sued earlier this year because a quarter of the population is black, but no county commissioner was. The court’s "remedy" was to carve out three majority-black districts—not because black citizens were prevented from participating, but because election outcomes did not align with the county’s racial demographics.

Louisiana’s congressional redistricting is emblematic of this kind of outcome. Under its 2022 map, one of its six congressional districts was majority-black, even though one-third of the state’s population is black. A three-judge federal court declared this unlawful and ordered the creation of a second majority-black district. The legislature complied by drawing a 250-mile long, bug-splat district from Shreveport to Baton Rouge, slicing apart multiracial neighborhoods to harvest black voters.

Soon after this redrawing, another group of voters, describing themselves as "non-African American," sued, arguing the newly created district was an unconstitutional racial gerrymander. A different three-judge panel agreed. Thus, one court ordered Louisiana to sort voters by race, while another condemned the state for doing so. Louisiana officials were left damned if they did, damned if they didn’t. This is not a quirk of Louisiana politics or geography. It is the inevitable result of Section 2’s application and legal distortion.

Defenders of the reinterpreted Section 2 portray it as a necessary guardrail against discrimination and backsliding. But it is extremely rare for minorities to be denied the right to vote or face unique hurdles.

Many defenders of these racial districts criticized Chief Justice John Roberts’s observation in Shelby County v. Holder, a 2013 case that effectively ended the "preclearance" provision of the Voting Rights Act in which Roberts wrote that "things have changed dramatically in the South."

Indeed, they have: Black and Hispanic voters now register and turn out to vote at rates comparable to whites. Black Americans serve as presidents, vice presidents, governors, senators, representatives, mayors, and commissioners nationwide. Integrated neighborhoods and multiracial coalitions are commonplace. To pretend we remain in 1965 is to deny six decades of progress.

Speaker Mike Johnson told House Republicans on a private call Thursday thathe doesn’t plan to put a standalone bill to pay troops up for a vote before they miss paychecks Oct. 15, arguing the Senatewould kill that measure while Democrats also block an already-passed stopgap bill that includes servicemember pay.

Johnson also made clear he doesn’t plan to bring the House back next week, or at all, until the Senate passes the continuing resolution the chamber passed weeks ago, according to five people granted anonymity to describe the call. He said the House would remain on 48-hour recall notice indefinitely.

On the call, Johnson sought to tamp down a growing push among rank-and-file House Republicans by pressing them to deliver a clear message as to why a separate troop pay bill is unnecessary:House Republicans passed a bill weeks ago that funds troops, air traffic, floor insurance and more, Johnson argued.

“We’ve done our job,” he said, adding that Republicans should use their franking privileges to get that message out.

Putting a standalone troop pay bill on the floor would lessen GOP leaders’ leverage to push Senate Democrats to simply pass the House-approved stopgap. And in another complication for GOP leaders, Trump has said he will get military members their pay regardless. White House officials privately say they will move around funds to pay troops if Congress doesn’t act.

But Johnson’s argument that a troop pay bill wouldn’t clear the Senate is encountering skepticism. Republicans believe Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) would not block that legislation from passing via unanimous consent; his office did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Rank-and-file Senate Democrats widely believe that standalone bill would pass, as well.

“We have no idea what Speaker Johnson is talking about,” an aide to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said in response to the claim that the Senate would block the bill.

The answer is contained in a sordid tale of professional malfeasance, undisclosed conflicts of interest, and unmitigated avarice inflicted on the public by various interests, chief among them the sugar industry, desperate for a way to exonerate itself for fueling cavities in the population.

The fluoride-pimping project dates all the way back to 1930, nearly a hundred years ago, following the founding of a “nonprofit” industry front group called the Mellon Institute of Industrial Research.

Hope Christian teacher now accused of exchanging money for sex

The Hope Christian School teacher accused of sexually abusing students is now facing 11 charges for allegedly exchanging money for sex.

Kelly McEachran is accused of exchanging money for sex 11 times in the span of six months – on Oct. 21, 26 and 28; Dec. 23; Jan. 4; Feb. 28, March 3, 20, 21, and 24; and April 3, according to a court document detailing the charges.

Each count of exchanging money for sex carries a punishment of six months in jail and no more than a $500 fine, if convicted.

McEachran already faced 10 charges for rape and child sex abuse. U.S. Marshals tracked him down to Idaho in June and arrested him.

Following his arrest, former students called the Albuquerque Police Department. They claimed they had also been victimized or had strange encounters with McEachran.

According to APD, an 11-year-old girl told her parents McEachran inappropriately touched her several times in the classroom. Other alleged victims also came forward.

McEachran’s legal team tried to appeal an order keeping him in jail but the court denied the appeal. He is still in jail.

New York state Attorney General Letitia James was indicted Thursday by a federal grand jury in Virginia on a single count of bank fraud, a source familiar with the proceedings told The Post.

The indictment was handed up in Eastern District of Virginia, where former FBI Director James Comey was indicted Sept. 25 on charges of lying to Congress and obstruction of justice.

Federal housing regulator Bill Pulte referred James to the Justice Department in April, claiming that she “falsified records” to get sweetheart home loans for a Norfolk, Va. property she claimed as her “principal residence” in 2023 — while she was starting her second term as New York’s top prosecutor.

Pulte suggested that James had committed crimes including wire fraud, mail fraud, bank fraud and false statements to a financial institution, among other offenses.

James, 66, has called the allegations “baseless” and said she purchased the home with her niece, who uses it as her primary residence.

A rep for her office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

“What we’re seeing today is nothing less than the weaponization of the Justice Department to punish those who hold the powerful accountable,” Democratic New York Gov. Kathy Hochul said in a statement.

James won a civil judgment against the Trump Organization last year for allegedly inflating the value of his real estate empire. The president was ordered to pay $355 million in penalties but has appealed the ruling, which grew to more than $500 million with interest.

FBI investigators began the criminal probe in May after Pulte’s referral the previous month, which also contained allegations of James misclassifying her Brooklyn brownstone as having four units instead of five.

That could have given her more favorable loan terms on both the New York and Virginia properties, according to Pulte.

Top Hamas official announces end to Gaza war

The organization has received “guarantees” from the US that the hostilities will not continue, Khalil al-Hayya has said

The Gaza war is over, a senior Hamas official, Khalil al-Hayya, has said, adding thatthe peace plan put forth by US President Donald Trump would mark the start of a “permanent ceasefire.”

The militant group received some “guarantees”from Washington and other mediators that the hostilities would not continue, he told Gaza residents in a televised address on Thursday.

According to al-Hayya, theGaza-based Palestinian militant group “dealt responsibly with the American president’s plan” and submitted a response aimed at preventing further bloodshed. He did not elaborate on the nature of the response but said that the deal, which was reached in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, includesproviding the Palestinian enclave with humanitarian aid, opening the Rafah border crossing, and exchanging prisoners.

“Everyone confirmed that the war has completely ended,” the official said, vowing to work with all national and Islamic forces to complete the next steps envisioned by the agreement.

His words came as the Israeli cabinet was still voting on the ratification of the agreement.National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir said ahead of the vote that he and his party would oppose Trump’s peace planand would leave the government if Hamas is allowed to retain control over Gaza. He also described the release of Palestinian prisoners inexchange for Israeli hostages as an “unbearable price” to pay for the agreement.

Earlier media reports suggested that Israeli forces would be required to withdraw to a pre-set line within 24 hours, leaving Israel in control of around 53% of the Palestinian enclave.Hamas would release all living hostages within 72 hoursof West Jerusalem ratifying the deal. In return, Israel would free 250 Palestinians serving life sentences and 1,700 Gazans detained since 2023, including all women and minors.

According to Israeli Channel 12,West Jerusalem would only allow the prisoners to go free after the 72-hour period, during which Hamas is expected to release all Israeli hostages.The group still holds around 48 hostages; Israel believes that around 20 are still alive.

The Israel-Hamas war began on October 7, 2023, when Hamas-led fighters attacked the Jewish state,killing around 1,200 people, and taking around 250 hostages. Israel’s subsequent military operation in Gazahas killed more than 67,000 Palestinians, according to local officials. It also led to unprecedented destruction and a humanitarian disaster in the enclave.
