Fort Riley, KAN. – Fort Riley will be conducting an energy resilience readiness exercise, July 26, referred to as Black Start. The exercise is designed to test the installation’s emergency and standby energy generation systems, key infrastructure and equipment. Senior officials will learn from exercise outcomes about the infrastructure needs for crucial installation missions in the event of a power loss.

This Black Start exercise was designed following the congressional mandate requiring Department of Defense services to test their ability to operate without power in an emergency.

The Fort Riley garrison command team and Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security staff announced the Black Start Exercise at the Senior Leader Update, a town hall with Fort Riley leadership and community partners, June 27, at Riley’s Community Center.

“The preparedness and resilience of our Soldiers and families is already getting better because we are forcing them to prepare now,” said Col. Michael Foote, Fort Riley garrison commander. “Leaders and Command Family Readiness Representatives need to review their unit Exceptional Family Member Program packets and Family Action Plans to ensure their Soldiers are ready.” 

The exercise is scheduled to start at 4 a.m. and power restoration will begin around noon. Power across the installation is expected to be fully restored on by 1 p.m. Many facilities can expect services to start returning within 30 minutes to two hours after the initial blackout.

“This is kind of a NTC rotation for Garrison, the only difference is we have our families with us we have to take care of as well,” said Foote.

According to the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense of Sustainment “Enhancing the military capability, readiness, and resilience of our installations and forces through assured access to resilient and cyber secure fuel and power.”

“Col. Foote and I keep getting asked, ‘why are we going through this exercise in July,’” said Cmd. Sgt. Major Jason Poulin, Fort Riley garrison command sergeant major. “We are doing this as our rehearsal for actions on the objective. All our strategic planners at the national level are saying we are going to feel impacts to our energy grid in our next engagement.” 

Power outages are frequent in today’s environment, whether from a natural disaster, like heavy snowfall, a thunderstorm or from an enemy threat.

“This is how we protect your families when you answer the nation’s call,” Poulin said. “That’s how the colonel and I look at the Black Start Exercise.”

Not sure what prompted me to look it up today...but between 1:08 & 1:12 we get to see a few of these (UAP, Orbs, projectiles?)

At 1:08 to 1:09 there seems to be one that swoops in from mid right on screen and exits down center in a sharp turn.

Then at 1:10 to 1:12 there seem to be two or three separate ones the second delivering the kill strike (maybe, very hard to isolate).

The Daily Mail article makes it sound like it was just one and possibly a drone.

CNN conservative political commentatorScott Jennings criticized Vice President Kamala Harrisfor claiming Florida’s new middle school black history curriculum includes lessons “that enslaved people benefited from slavery.”

On Sunday’s edition of “State of the Union,” CNN anchor Dana Bash played video of Harris making remarks in Jacksonville, Florida, after the state Board of Education voted Wednesday on the new curriculum on black history.

It includes teaching that “slaves developed skills which, in some instances, could be applied for their personal benefit” — and requires teaching “acts of violence perpetrated against and by African Americans,” according to Mediaite.

“Just yesterday in the state of Florida, they decided middle school students will be taught that enslaved people benefited from slavery,” Harris said, according to Fox News. “They insult us in an attempt to gaslight us, and we will not stand for it.”

Jennings slammed the veep and claimed the controversy over the new curriculum is a “made-up deal.”

“Well, it’s amazing to me that how little Kamala Harris apparently has to do, that she can read something on Twitter one day and be on an airplane the next to make something literally out of nothing,” he said, according to a transcript posted by Mediaite.

“This is a completely made-up deal. I looked at the standards. I even looked at an analysis of the standards in every instance where the word slavery or slave was used,” he said.

“I even read the statement of the African American scholars that wrote the standards, not [Gov.] Ron DeSantis, but the scholars. Everybody involved in this says this is completely a fabricated issue. And yet look how quickly Kamala Harris jumped on it,” Jennings continued.

“So, the fact that this is her best moment, a fabricated matter, is pretty ridiculous,” he added.

But fellow commentator Karen Finney called Harris’ remarks a “stellar moment.”

“I think she did something that she has done often in the last couple of years, which is in a moment when something needed to be said, she got out there and said it, and really channeled what people were feeling,” Finney said, according to Fox News.

“I mean, the idea that we would literally have a conversation — I have to laugh, it is so disgusting that there were personal benefits of any kind to slaves. It is like saying women, we’re happy when we couldn’t vote and we couldn’t have our own banking accounts. It is just ridiculous,” she added.

A third panelist, Ashley Allison, also pushed back at Jennings.

“I’m glad she spoke on the issue — just because black people write it doesn’t mean it’s going to be accurate. Like, we can disagree as black people as well. I think what the bigger picture is that this is happening in Florida,” she said.

“This is happening in a Florida where you have a governor who has an anti-woke bill, who has a ‘Don’t say gay’ bill, who wants to ban DEI programs, who wants to ban Rosa Parks,” Allison said, referring to diversity, equity and inclusion programs.

“I think at this panel we could all agree that slaves did not benefit from slavery. Even if the citation said, ‘Well, they might have gotten …,’ they didn’t have a choice, so that is not a benefit,” she continued.

“Slaves did not have the freedom to choose if — Ron DeSantis said maybe they could have become a blacksmith, not when they didn’t have the choice to become a blacksmith. And so that was what Kamala Harris was saying,” Allison said.

The panelist expressed hope that everyone “could agree that slavery was not a good thing and slaves did not benefit.

“But the problem is, the governor, who is the second in the polls for the Republican [presidential] nomination, won’t do that,” Allison added.

Mystery looms over Alabama woman Lily Ledbetter’s death while working at animal shelter in US Virgin Islands

A 22-year-old Alabama woman was found dead in her home last month while working at an animal shelter in the US Virgin Islands — and authorities are still working to determine what caused her sudden death.

Lily Ledbetter, of Opelika, was living in the town of Cruz Bay on the island of St. John when police found her unconscious in her apartment in the Estate Enighed neighborhood on June 6.

Officials said they got a call from a concerned citizen at 12:33 p.m., with officers and EMTs quickly arriving at the scene but unable to get a response from the unconscious woman.

She was declared dead just 20 minutes later, with officials still unsure as to what led to her death.

Virgin Islands Police Department spokesperson Glen Dratte said officials were still waiting for an autopsy and toxicology report to determine the cause of death for the young American.

The case remains open under the VIPD’s Criminal Investigation Bureau, who have also called on the public to help provide additional clues and information over Ledbetter’s death, The Virgin Island Consortium reported.

Ledbetter’s parents did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.

A life-long animal lover, Ledbetter had been living in the Virgin Islands for a few months and was working at a local animal shelter before she died, according to her obituary.

She came to the islands shortly after graduating from Auburn University, where she competed with the Women’s Rowing Club.

Ledbetter hailed from Opelika High School, where she was an active member of the dance team, choir, band, and several other clubs and organizations.

She was also a member of the Make Your Move Performing Arts Studio, in Opelika, where her former teacher, Mandy Moore, paid tribute to her in a Facebook post.

“I will always remember the twinkle in your eye and the love that filled the room when you walked in,” More wrote: “I only wished I had held on and never let you go when I saw you a few weeks ago. I am so thankful that you came home to MYM and I got one of those big Lily hugs. Your legacy of love and light will forever live on inside our studio.”

Ledbetter is notably not the only American whose death remains a mystery while they were living in the Virgin Islands.

In February, former US swimming champ Jamie Cail, 42, was found dead inside her home, with police refusing to release information from her autopsy report. Police have not said if anyone was ever charged in Cail’s death.

Jean Cockayne, the mother of James Cockayne, 21, who was killed outside a bar on St. John by Cail’s alleged boyfriend in 2007, had claimed it was difficult for Americans to find justice in the islands as she previously slammed the police department as “inept.”

'Only the police and the army must be well-armed'

Brazil President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva Friday signed an edict tightening restrictions on civilian access to firearms, declaring that only the state should be “well-armed”.

According to the decree, civilians can no longer own 9 mm handguns, and the number of handguns allowed for personal safety has been halved from four to two. Civilians must have documentation justifying their possession of firearms, and are allowed to possess up to 50 rounds of ammunition [per firearm], down from 200.

Citizens who are in possession of now-illegal firearms have until the end of the year to sell them or have them confiscated by the Federal Police.

A George Soros-backed feminist organization that battles “structural racism and toxic masculinities” has been awarded a $2 million taxpayer-funded grant by the Biden administration.

Taller Salud, a nonprofit that aims to combat violent crime in Puerto Rico, received the funding from the Justice Department in October.

The group said it plans to use the government money to work with at least 40 men, ages 15 to 30, each year for three years as part of its Peace Accords program.

This amounts to a total of at least 120 men instructed and about $17,000 spent per person, if additional participants aren’t added and some of the funding isn’t doled out to other issues.

For context, Puerto Rico’s per-capita income was about $14,000 in 2021.

The Peace Accords program deploys “highly trained violence interrupters,” including ones who address “structural racism and toxic masculinities” to curtail violence, according to a description of the grant, which was first reported by the Washington Free Beacon.

“The three year, $2,000,0000 award will allow TS to continue providing a community violence intervention program that works at the individual level and at the community level seeking crime reduction, improving the criminal justice response to crimes and denormalizing crime in the community of Loíza and the northeastern region of Puerto Rico,” the organization said.

Taller Salud describes itself as a “community based feminist organization dedicated to improving women’s access to health care, to reducing violence within the community and to encourage economic growth.”

It has received funding from numerous groups including left-leaning billionaire Soros’ Open Society Foundations and Planned Parenthood.

The DOJ grant came from its Community-Based Violence Intervention and Prevention Initiative, which funds various programs aimed at reducing violent crime.

Puerto Rico is plagued by high crime rates compared to US states. In 2020, it averaged about 17 murder victims per 100,000 people, compared to the US national average of 6.4, according to data from the UN.

Taller Salud CEO Tania Rosario Méndez bills herself as an “anti-racist activist for environmental justice and gender equality” on her Instagram page.

The group also has spent money to combat poverty, according to tax records. This includes $264,665 that went to its “Peace and Development” program, which aims to “eradicate poverty,” during fiscal year 2020.

Puerto Rico suffers from a high poverty rate, which hovers around 40% depending on the year, per the US Census.

The Justice Department did not immediately respond to a Post request for comment Monday.

Hunter Biden’s former associate and convicted felon, Devon Archer, is reportedly cooperating with Republican lawmakers and will testify this week on the $10 million Ukraine-Biden bribe.

According to New York Post reporter Miranda Devine, Devon Archer is going to sing like a canary and tell Congress that Hunter Biden put his dad, then-VP Joe Biden on speakerphone into meetings with his foreign business associates at least two dozen times.

Archer, who is currently facing one year in prison for defrauding an Indian tribe, will testify to the House Oversight Committee about at least two dozen meetings he witnessed Joe Biden attend either in person or by phone at Hunter’s request.

Devon Archer will also confirm to lawmakers that Joe Biden is indeed the “Big Guy.”

In 2017, James Gilliar, a business associate involved in the CEFC joint venture, broke down a payment structure in an email to Tony Bobulinski and Hunter Biden: “10 held by H for the big guy?”

Mykola Zlochevsky also referred to Joe Biden as “the big guy” in the FBI’s FD-1023 form.

One such meeting was in Dubai late in the evening of Friday, Dec. 4, 2015, after a board meeting of the Ukrainian energy company Burisma, which was paying Hunter $83,000 a month as a director.

Archer, who also was a director, is expected to testify that, after dinner with the Burisma board at the Burj Al Arab Hotel, he and Hunter traveled six miles north to the Four Seasons Resort Dubai at Jumeirah Beach to have a drink with one of Hunter’s friends.

While they were sitting outside at the bar, Vadym Pozharskyi, a senior Burisma executive, phoned to ask where they were because Burisma’s owner Mykola Zlochevsky needed to speak to Hunter urgently.

Police claim the leader of a left-wing party acted with intent in stealing designer sunglasses at Oslo Airport, local media reported

The leader of the Norwegian left-wing Red party and a member of the country’s parliament, Bjornar Moxnes, resigned on Monday following a scandal that broke out after he was caught stealing designer sunglasses at Oslo Airport in mid-June.

In his latest Facebook post, Moxnes explained the decision to resign by saying that he is the only one responsible for what happened and he doesn’t “want his mistakes to affect those closest” to him, adding that his friends had been targeted publicly as well. The politician has also called on his colleagues to “focus on the politics” ahead of the upcoming 2023 elections.

Admitting being at fault, Moxnes said that the way he “handled it further” – he was accused of changing his version of what transpired several times – made the situation worse. He initially said that he took the Hugo Boss glasses by mistake and was asked by an employee to return them. Later, the politician posted another story on Facebook, claiming that he mistakenly thought the sunglasses were his own and then, instead of returning them to the shop, he tore the price tag off, saying he “panicked and was afraid of what it would look like” if he went back to the store.

On June 30, the Norwegian Broadcaster NRK reported that police had charged the politician with stealing “with the intention of obtaining an unjustified gain for himself or others,” supporting the accusations with CCTV footage. The same day, Moxnes said he had been fined 3,000 Norwegian kroner (just under $300) for shoplifting.

He subsequently went on sick leave, stepping down a day prior to its end and passing the reins of the Red party to Marie Sneve Martinussen, who takes the job on an interim basis. However, Moxnes can’t give up his MP seat because current rules prohibit quitting an elected office.

Putin signs law banning sex change in Russia

The legislation prohibits medical interventions linked to transitioning, except when they are needed to treat birth abnormalities

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a bill banning sex reassignment surgeries into law on Monday. The legislation, aimed at tighter regulation of what MPs described as the “transgender industry,” bans legal sex changes and medical interventions associated with transitioningexcept due to serious medical grounds.

Administration of drugs and surgeries associated with gender reassignment therapy will now only be permitted in cases that require treatment of reproductive organ deformities in children. Only licensed clinics linked to the Russian Health Ministry can now make decisions on such treatments and issue relevant certificates, the legislation says.

People can also no longer freely change their sex on IDs and other documents. Those who did so may not adopt children under the new law. Married couples can also have their marriages declared invalid if one of the spouses changes their sex.

According to Russian Deputy Health Minister Evgenia Kotova, over 2,000 people legally changed their sex in the country between 2018 and 2022, when the practice was legal.

State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin blasted what he called the Western transgender industry as he defended the reasoning behind the law. The number of gender reassignment surgeries in the US has increased by 50 times over the past 10 years, he said, adding that around 1.4% of all US teenagers aged between 13 and 17 identified themselves as transgender in 2022.

“This is the path leading to the degradation of a nation,” he said, stating that the newly adopted law was designed to avoid such a scenario.

The legislation still allows for the treatment of relevant diseases. “There are conditions that can be identified during childhood,” he said. “Yet, when a person changes sex because they woke up in the morning and decided they are not a boy but a girl, that is just wrong,” the Duma head explained.

According to the top Russian senator, Valentina Matvienko, the law has received “many positive responses from European nations.”

Trans rights activists still blasted the law, arguing that it seriously diminishes the rights of transgender persons in Russia. Critics also claimed that the legislation’s wording creates uncertainty related to treatment of certain diseases not linked to gender reassignment procedures, like mastectomy for women genetically predisposed to breast cancer.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Monday that all such issues had been reviewed by experts while the bill’s text was still being debated in parliament. “All those questions were answered,” he said, adding that risks associated with the law had been minimized.

The United States is currently facing a serious ‘crisis of confidence’ in its governing institutions, according to Wall Street Journal columnist Dan Henninger.

The recent testimony of FBI Director Christopher Wray before Congress may have exacerbated the situation, possibly pushing the bureau to a breaking point.

Henninger’s column titled ‘The FBI Loses the Public’ delves into the declining trust that the American people have in institutions such as the FBI, with studies revealing that voter confidence in both the bureau and the DOJ has reached its lowest point.

Citing an NBC poll, the column highlights a staggering 15% drop in the public’s positive perception of the bureau over the past five years. Interestingly, this poll was conducted just before Wray’s contentious hearing before Congress and during a period when GOP lawmakers were calling for his resignation, expressing dissatisfaction with his leadership of the bureau.”

Thirty-seven percent of registered voters surveyed said they have a positive view of the FBI, while 35% said they have a negative view, according to the poll. Among GOP voters, just 17% have a positive view of the FBI, while 56% have a negative view.

“Conservatives no longer trust the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Liberals—or more precisely progressives—no longer trust the local police. We have a problem,” Henninger wrote.

“Confidence in U.S. institutions such as the FBI, Supreme Court and Congress has been on a steady decline since 2017 and is now reaching record lows. More broadly, less than a third of voters trust the federal government – a 20-year low…what’s going on now is different. The U.S. is already amid a crisis of confidence in what we call our governing institutions. That word, governing, is taken for granted, but it took a long time for governing to become a fact of daily life. Consider the opposite of governing elsewhere—mayhem, chaos, anarchy,” he continued.

“We may be inching closer than we imagine to the opposite of governing. Urban crime, mindless and random killings, tent-city homelessness, parents shouting at school boards, and the images of an FBI raid on a former president’s home. Instead of adjusting, many are turning away from the institutions that provide the bedrock of domestic tranquility,” he added.

In a heated House committee hearing earlier this month, Republican lawmakers subjected Wray to intense questioning regarding concerns over the politicization of his agency. They also raised issues about a recent federal court ruling that exposed alleged suppression of conservative free speech in connection with the Hunter Biden laptop story, the origins of COVID-19, and various other topics frequently discussed by Americans on social media.

Disruption of transnational migrant smuggling network leads to 62 arrests

The trafficking network is estimated to have generated some EUR 45 million in illicit gains

An operation targeting a transnational criminal network smuggling Cuban nationals to the European Union has led to the arrest of 62 individuals, including 25 Cubans.

The investigation, coordinated by INTERPOL and Europol, was launched in October 2021 after an increased number of Cuban citizens attempting to enter Europe with fake documents was reported by Finland, Greece, North Macedonia and Serbia.

For a payment of around EUR 9,000 the network would arrange the trip, transfers and provide the falsified documentation. The migrants would fly from Cuba to Serbia, which until recently did not require a visa, before they were smuggled into Greece from where they were flown into Spain.

It is estimated some 5,000 Cuban nationals were successfully smuggled into the EU, generating a profit of around EUR 45 million.

The first in a series of joint operational meetings was hosted by INTERPOL at its General Secretariat headquarters in Lyon in March 2022.

The investigation revealed a complex criminal infrastructure set up in cities across Greece, Serbia and Spain.

On a day of action across the three countries in June, as well as making 26 arrests, police also recovered hundreds of fake and genuine documents and around EUR 100,000 in cash.

In addition, 18 pieces of real estate and 133 vehicles were seized and 144 bank accounts frozen.

INTERPOL and Europol also deployed specialists to provide on the ground support with intelligence analysis and cross match reports.

Changing routes and sexual exploitation

Initially the Cuban nationals flew commercially direct to Russia where smugglers offered the option to either irregularly cross the Russian-Finnish border to then enter the EU, or fly to Serbia to continue their journey into Central or Southern Europe.

However, following the start of the conflict in Ukraine, the route was changed with Cubans instead flown via Germany to Serbia. The criminal networks would then facilitate irregular entry into Greece and North Macedonia, often forcing groups of migrants to walk in the dark for hours with no supplies.

Some of the most vulnerable migrants, which included minors, were subjected to scams, robberies and extortion, with some women transferred to other criminal groups for sexual exploitation.

Investigations are continuing and further arrests are expected.

The True Conspiracists

There was no “Russian collusion” conspiracy.

There was a Clinton conspiratorial effort.

It sought to hide campaign money through three paywalls to hire Christopher Steele to add to his ad hominem lies and to ensure that they were disseminated throughout the media and government. The point was solely to emasculate her opponent, Donald Trump.

As far as the first Trump impeachment phone call, given the multimillion-dollar corruptions abroad of the Biden family syndicate, and the boasts of Joe Biden about his past interference in Ukraine politics to fire a bothersome prosecutor, any president would have warned Ukraine to clean up its act with the Bidens or face holds on American largess.

The Covid-19 virus did escape from a nearby Chinese virology lab. It was a media and government fed lie that it was birthed naturally in the wild by a bat or pangolin, part of a three-year long effort to appease the Chinese communist party. And there was a clear role of the NIAID and NIH in funding dangerous gain-of-function research under the auspices of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army.

Most of what the government assured about the quarantines and vaccinations proved eventually to be wrong or only half-true. That reality proved ironic when those who warned of lockdown dangers were eventually vindicated, but never received apologies from their accusers.

Given the blanket exemptions provided to Hillary Clinton for unlawfully destroying subpoenaed material and using a home server to transmit classified information, and the reduction of Hunter Biden’s numerous felonies to minor misdemeanors, and the likely exemption given Joe Biden for storing classified files for years at his various homes and offices, why would anyone not believe that the government and the media work hard to suppress the truth?

And why would any citizen believe the government or the media after the Biden campaign solicited “51 intelligence authorities” to swear falsely that the genuine Hunter Biden laptop was likely a product of “Russian disinformation.”

The entire concocted lie was a Biden-campaign effort to use the gravitas of former government officials and the complicity of the media to promote a fantasy to influence the impending presidential debate. And it worked to a tee.

Note as well that the FBI hired out Twitter employees to suppress information concerning the Biden laptop. The truth was deemed “disinformation” in order to mislead voters on the eve of the 2020 election.

Normally, distinguished government heads of hallowed bureaus carefully weigh in on investigations to warn against idle speculations and convulsed conspiracies. But who currently in Washington could be sure of any such voice since our most esteemed intelligence and investigative directors are admitted liars?

Former FBI Director James Comey feigned amnesia in congressional testimony. He passed off a dossier he knew to be fallacious as genuine evidence to a FISA court.

His successor Andrew McCabe lied on four occasions to federal investigators. Current Director Christopher Wray has continually stonewalled congressional oversight committees.

Special counsel and former FBI Director Robert Mueller preposterously claimed he knew nothing of the Steele dossier or Fusion GPS.

Both John Brennan, former CIA Director, and James Clapper, Director of National Intelligence, admittedly lied under oath to Congress. None of these liars faced any legal consequences.

Anthony Fauci’s incriminating emails keep appearing in the public domain, making a mockery of his earlier, ludicrous claim that he had not channeled U.S. dollars to the Wuhan lab to ensure the continuance of outlawed gain–of-function research.

Worse still, so often those screaming “conspiracy theory” are conspiracists themselves. Hillary Clinton schemed with dark money and paywalls to smear her 2016 opponent.

As election denialists Hillary Clinton (“He knows he’s an illegitimate president”) and Jimmy Carter (“He [Trump] lost the election and he was put into office because the Russians interfered on his behalf”) refused to accept the 2016 verdict, projecting such denialism onto others.

So how does the government abort a conspiracy theory?

Simple: Quit the chronic lying and for once telling the truth.

Massive emergency response in Martha's Vineyard after 911 call from Obama mansion

Divers recovered the body of the 43-year-old male just before 10 am from Edgartown Great Pond, on which the Obama family's $12 million mansion lies.

The body of a paddleboarder who went missing on Sunday in the waters of Martha’s Vineyard has been found.

According to Massachusetts State Police, divers recovered the body of the 43-year-old male just before 10 am from Edgartown Great Pond, on which the Obama family's $12 million mansion lies.

"MSP Underwater Recovery Unit divers made the recovery after the victim’s body was located by a Massachusetts Environmental Police Officers deploying side-scan sonar from a boat," police stated.

The recovery was made around 100 feet from shore, where water was around eight feet in depth.

According to the Daily Mail, the 911 call and dispatch address for the incident was the Obama’s Martha’s Vineyard home. It is unclear whether the former president was staying at the estate at the time.

Police responded to the pond in the area of Turkeyland Cove at around 7:46 pm to a report of a male paddleboarder who had gone into the water. The man appeared to briefly struggle to stay on the surface, and then went under and did not resurface, police said.

Another paddleboarder had been with the male at the time and saw him go under the water.

Numerous agencies including Edgartown Fire and all island fire departments, local police, State Police patrols, Air Wing, and detectives, the Dukes County Sheriff’s Department, and the Coast Guard.

Searches continued through the night, but divers were unsuccessful. A pause was issued to allow dive teams, flight crews, and other responders to re-equip and assess next steps. The search was continued on Monday morning.

WASHINGTON — The body of the former White House sous chef who worked for ex-President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle was recovered Monday in the waters near their Martha’s Vineyard estate, Massachusetts police said.

Tafari Campbell, 45, known as one of the chefs who brewed White House honey ale beer while Obama was in office — using honey from Michelle Obama’s famous South Lawn garden — went to work for the former first couple when they left the White House.

In a statement, the Obamas said of one of the top chefs in the White House kitchen: “Tafari was a beloved part of our family. When we first met him, he was a talented sous chef at the White House — creative and passionate about food, and its ability to bring people together. In the years that followed, we got to know him as a warm, fun, extraordinarily kind person who made all of our lives a little brighter.

“That’s why, when we were getting ready to leave the White House, we asked Tafari to stay with us, and he generously agreed. He’s been part of our lives ever since, and our hearts are broken that he’s gone.

Today we join everyone who knew and loved Tafari — especially his wife Sherise and their twin boys, Xavier and Savin — in grieving the loss of a truly wonderful man.”

The Obama’s have been spending part of the summer in Martha’s Vineyard for years.

Massachusetts State Police said Campbell was from Dumfries, Va., and “was visiting Martha’s Vineyard at the time of his passing. President and Mrs. Obama were not present at the residence at the time of the accident.”

Authorities started searching the waters near the Obama home after receiving reports of a missing paddle boarder on Sunday.
