Zelensky’s penthouse seized in CrimeaOh KEK!

The luxury apartment is on Russia’s list of nationalized assets

The Crimean parliament has unanimously voted tonationalize the assets of Ukrainian oligarchs and politicianson the peninsula, RIA Novosti news agency reported on Wednesday, citing the State Council’s press service.

Among the assets is anapartment belonging to Elena Zelenskaya, the wifeof Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, Crimean Governor Sergey Aksyonov announced on Telegram.

More than 130 properties have reportedly been confiscated, among them a cinema, factories, shopping malls, wineries, and banking structures.

Last February the Crimean parliament also voted to nationalizeabout 500 properties belonging to Ukrainian politiciansand businessmen.

Zelenskaya’s three-room penthouse on the Black Sea coast near the resort city of Yalta isestimated to be worth $800,000. It was bought from a business tycoon in 2013 for just under $164,000. After Zelensky won the presidential election in April 2019, Reuters reported that the price paid for the property was at least 50% lower than the market rate.

The seizures come in response to a law introduced in Ukraine last year making it legal to confiscate the assets of Russian citizens and businesses without compensation. In August, Kiev approved confiscations ofmore than 900 Russian-owned propertiesin the country, reportedly worth $765 million.

Russia has seen its state and private assets worth billions of dollars frozen or confiscated in Western countries since the start the military operation in Ukraine. The US and its EU allies have since been looking for ways to give the assets to Ukraine for reconstruction.

The Crimean Peninsula was part of Ukraine until 2014, when it voted in a referendum to join Russia after the Maidan coup resulted in the overthrow of the democratically elected government in Kiev.

Profits from the sales of the nationalized assets, including Zelensky’s apartment,will be used to help the families of soldiers killed in the military operation in Ukraine, the speaker of the Crimean Parliament, Vladimir Konstantinov, was quoted as saying by Russia’s TASS news agency.

Active volcanoes prompted ash warnings and set nerves on edge in Italy, Mexico and the Democratic Republic of Congo over the weekend.

Mount Etna showered ash over Catania in eastern Sicily Sunday and forced the temporary suspension of airport operations. Ash also briefly closed Mexico City's largest airport and the eruption of Volcano Popocatépetl prompted officials to urge people to avoid traveling near it.

The Nyamulagira volcano in the Democratic Republic of Congo also continued ongoing activity and lava flow.

The volcanoes are among nearly 50 volcanoes active around the world

Volcano Popocatépetl prompts warnings in Mexico City

Volcanic ash from Popocatépetl triggered the temporary closure of Mexico City’s Benito Juárez International Airport on Saturday, according to the U.S. Embassy. Flight delays related to the presence of ash also were reported Monday.

CNN reported that millions were warned to prepare for possible evacuation Popocatépetl, as authorities closed schools in dozens of municipalities.

- People were urged not to travel within a 7.5 mile radius of the volcano and to avoid the crater, “due to the danger of falling ballistic fragments,” according to Mexico’s National Center for Communication and Civil Protection Operations.

- The volcano has experienced explosions, tremors and exhalations of vapor, gas and ashes for weeks, according to monitoring reports from the national center and the National Autonomous University of Mexico.

- Ash fell across more than a dozen municipalities over the weekend.

- Volcano Popocatepetl lies near Puebla, about 45 miles southwest of Mexico City.

- CNN reported 25 million people live within a 60-mile radius of the volcano.

Mount Etna spews ash

Stepped up tremor activity had been noted at Mount Etna for several days, reported Italy’s National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology.

- No injuries were reported and cloud cover was impeding views of the eruption on Sunday, the agency said.

- People in the towns of Adrano and Biancavilla reported hearing loud booms from the volcano on Sunday

- Activity frequently originates from multiple cones in the craters at Etna’s summit, according to the Smithsonian Institution's Global Volcanism Program and the US Geological Survey.

- Lava flows were reported in January, and an explosion on May 14 produced an ash admission, the group stated.

- Activity at Mount Etna has been observed and recorded for more than 2,500 years, making it one of the oldest continuously monitored volcanoes.

What happened at the Nyamulagira volcano?

Lava flowed on Saturday and Sunday from an ongoing eruption inside the Nyamulagira volcano, reported Charles Balagizi, a geochemist and geohazards researcher at the Goma Volcano Observatory in a Twitter post. The volcano is north of Goma, on the eastern side of the Democratic Republic of Congo near the border with Rwanda.

Nyamulagira is Africa's most active volcano.

- It was releasing large quantities of sulphur dioxide over the weekend, Balagizi said.

- He encouraged residents in the region to wash all vegetables before cooking.

- An eruption began in the summit crater on March 14 and active flows were seen on May 7 and May 12, according to the Smithsonian's Global Volcanism Program.

- As of April 14, 49 volcanoes around the world were in continuing eruption status, according to the Smithsonian's Global Volcanism Program. Last week, 24 were in some stage of active eruption, according to the program's latest weekly report.

I think that the American people are behind us here and I think they would support this amendment for certain, if they're paying attention and following what all this is about.

Here's the simple fact and I explain this in town halls back home all the time and I'm sure some of you do similar things, but we have to acknowledge that the federal government is way too big and it does way too many things and very little of what it does does it do.

Well, the administrative state has grown exponentially over the recent decades and it, as stated earlier, has consolidated governmental powers in the executive branch.

And what that's done then is it's usurped the proper and constitutional role of Congress.

Our article one authority over lawmaking and policy making and that consolidation of power has become really very dangerous.

It's created an administrative state that is out of control.

t's contrary to the separation of powers doctrine in our constitution, our matchless constitution and it diminishes the political accountability of the people who set policy.

If you have nameless, faceless bureaucrats who are effectively making law, they are by definition unaccountable.

We literally do not know who to hold accountable.

The people do not know who to hold accountable when you have bureaucrats making all the laws and that's effectively what's happened.

Now, Congress allowed this to happen over a series of decades as the power as you serve.

But it creates a real problem in our system.

Our, our matchless system that everybody around the world tries to emulate.

The reason it works so well is because we have separation of powers.

We have checks and balances as members of the house, we have to run for office every two years.

Why?

Because we're closest to the people, we have accountability.

If we don't do our jobs, well, then they'll send someone else to do it.

But we can't do that with the administrative state because we don't even know who they are.

And so by limiting this lowering the threshold to 50 million is an essential thing to do.

We're going to be 247 years old as a nation on July 4th, we are still a very young nation.

You know, if a high school civic student looks at 247 years, they think that's a life, that's an eternity.

But we know that's just a small speck on the span of human history and we don't know how long our constitutional Republic is going to endure.

The founders didn't know, but they said there are certain foundations that you have to maintain and the reason that they were so insistent about the checks and balances and the separation of powers is because they understood that all men are fallen and corrupt and that power corrupts.

And as Lord Acton said, absolute power corrupts.

Absolutely.

We are veering towards absolute corruption in the administrative state.

That is why so many agencies in our, in our weaponization select Committee.

Why we're so busy because so many of the agencies that were designed to protect and serve the American people have been turned against them and are being used against the very citizens they're supposed to serve.

How did that happen?

It's because we allowed our article one authority to be served.

So the Reins Act is essential.

I think this threshold of 50 million is very reasonable.

And I would just close by reminding us of the words of John Adams.

He said, you know, explaining the difference between us and what was happening in the monarchy and in Great Britain, he said, you know, we're a nation of laws not of men.

It's the rule of law that defines who we are.

That's why our system works so well

And as the great evangelist Charles Spurgeon said, the best of men are but men at best, we better maintain this system of checks and balances.

And I think this would be a really, really important step to prevent this death by 1000 little cuts of our liberty and our oversight and allowing the government to grow so out of control, we wouldn't have a $31.8 trillion federal debt if Congress was more involved in these decisions.

And so I'm in full support of this amendment.

I think everybody should.

And I think, as I said, at the outset, if the American people understood and were following this argument, they would absolutely be in favor of the Biggs Amendment.

So with that, I yield back.

GENEVA | May 23, 2023 – The Rockefeller Foundation and the World Health Organization (WHO) have announced a new partnership to strengthen the WHO Hub for Pandemic and Epidemic Intelligence. As part of the collaboration, the Foundation is investing US$ 5M in partners working with WHO to cultivate global networks for pathogen detection and strengthen pandemic preparedness capabilities, including broadening surveillance for diseases worsened by rising temperatures and extreme weather.

Established in 2021, WHO Hub for Pandemic and Epidemic Intelligence facilitates a global collaboration of partners from multiple sectors to address future pandemic and epidemic risks with better access to data, better analytical capacities, and better tools and insights for decision-making. The partnership with The Rockefeller Foundation will accelerate these efforts with catalytic funding and technical assistance.

“The Covid-19 pandemic underscored that disease surveillance, collaboration between stakeholders, and data sharing were absolutely essential ingredients for health security – and the global community was unprepared,” said Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu, WHO Assistant Director-General and head of the WHO Hub for Pandemic and Epidemic Intelligence. “With the increasing threats from climate change, we are excited to partner with The Rockefeller Foundation to usher in a new era of global collaboration in pandemic intelligence.”

Developing a digital platform in partnership with Data.org, to enable real-time communication and collaboration between public health analysts and researchers across the globe to scale evidence-based, field-tested epidemic tools.

Developing user-centered product strategies for existing WHO epidemic intelligence solutions to better support global public health agencies.

Improving outbreak detection through the Global.health data science initiative, in partnership with the University of Oxford and Boston Children’s Hospital, among others.

Russian vessel attacked by Ukrainian sea drones off Bosporus – MOD

The navy ship, which was patrolling the TurkStream gas pipeline, has destroyed all of the incoming drones, the Russian military says

TheRussian Navy's reconnaissance ship, ‘Ivan Churs’, has been attacked by three unmanned speed boatslaunched by the Ukrainian military, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Wednesday.

The vessel was targeted early in the morning by the drones in Türkiye’s exclusive economic zone, some 140km (86 miles) to the northeast of the Bosporus Strait, the ministry’s spokesman, Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov, said during a daily briefing.

The ship was patrolling areas near the TurkStream and Blue Stream natural gas pipelines, Konashenkov noted, adding that the naval patrols were deployed after the attack on the Nord Stream pipelines last September.

“All of the enemy boats were destroyed by fire with the onboard weapons of the Russian ship,” the spokesman added.

The military shared footage of the incident, showing a small, black speedboat coming under large-caliber gunfire. The vessel suffers a direct hit and explodes, leaving a plume of black smoke on the water.

Over the course of the ongoing conflict, Ukraine has repeatedly used sea drones in order to strike naval vessels of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet. The latest attack is the most long-range one, with previous attempts targeting warships stationed at the port of Sevastopol on the Russian Crimean Peninsula. The attacks, however, have beenunsuccessful, with the unmanned speedboats detected and destroyed during approach, or getting caught on the protective netting of the harbor.

Ukraine’s top general gravely wounded in Russian strike – RIA

Valery Zaluzhny won’t be able to command Kiev’s forces anymore due to head trauma, a source told the agency

General Valery Zaluzhny, commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian armed forces, who had disappeared from the public eye in recent weeks, was seriously wounded some weeks ago in aRussian strike near the city of Kherson, a security source told RIA Novosti.

Zaluzhny suffered a head trauma and numerous shrapnel wounds in early May, in a missile attack on a Ukrainian command post not far from the village of Posad-Pokrovskoe, the agency reported on Wednesday.

The general had undergone a craniotomy at a military hospital in Kiev after the strike, the source claimed. The prognosis by the doctors is that the 49-year-old is going to live but won’t be able to execute his duties as commander anymore, he added.

Zaluzhny’s condition is further complicated by the fact that he has an underlying condition namely diabetes, the agency also reported.

Speculations about Zaluzhny’s whereabouts emerged after he refrained from participating in a high-profile NATO meeting on May 10.

The chairman of the bloc’s military committee, Rob Bauer, said that Kiev told Brussels that the Ukrainian commander couldn’t attend in person nor via a video-link due to a “complex operational situation” on the ground in the conflict with Moscow.

The general hasn’t been seen in public since then, even though footage that has emerged online in recent days that suggested he was fine, turned out to have been made before his disappearance.

On Saturday,Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Anna Malyarclaimed Zaluzhny was in good health and remained in charge of the armed forces.

“The commander-in-chief is in his place. He’s doing his job, We just talked,” she wrote on Telegram.

Malyar suggested that rumors of Zaluzhny’s possible injury or death were being spread by Russia in an attempt to demoralize the Ukrainian forces during the battle for the strategic city of Artyomovsk, which the Ukrainians call Bakhmut. Moscow announced the “full capture” of Artyomovsk on Saturday, but Kiev has thus far been reluctant to acknowledge the loss of its key stronghold in Donbass.

Zaluzhny has been popular with the Western media and portrayed as a key figure in Ukraine’s resistance to Russia. Throughout the conflict, the so-called ‘Iron General’ has given lengthy interviews to outlets like The Economist and Time, which listed him among the 100 most influential people in the world in 2022.

Russia’s top spy tells US and UK to ‘go to hell’

Commenting on the two nations’ policies toward Iran, Sergey Naryshkin advised Washington and London to mind their own business

The US and UK should leave Iran alone, the head of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), Sergey Naryshkin, has said. The official suggested that the two nations are dismayed by the success of China’s efforts to reconcile Iran and Saudi Arabia.

Speaking on Wednesday, Naryshkin said he would advise the “Anglo-Saxons to take care of their own internal civil conflicts.Or better yet, go to their old pal – the devil.”

According to the official, Washington and London view the recent normalization of relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia in a strictly negative light. He claimed that the two allies are wary that Beijing’s diplomatic activities in the region could undermine their long-term strategy to weaken the Islamic Republic.

Naryshkin went on to allege that American and British government agencieshave been tasked with derailing China’s diplomatic effortsand discrediting its role as a mediator. He cited narratives to this effect in the media, adding, however, that the US and UK are unlikely to succeed with their supposed smear campaign“in the new geopolitical reality.”

Russia’s top spy argued that Western powers could play a role in ensuring global security and prosperity, but only as one of numerous centers of a multipolar world. However,the “insane vanity” of these nationsprecludes them from acting on an equal footing with other players, Naryshkin claimed.

Quoting from the Bible, the Russian official added that “their end will correspond to their deeds,” and predicted that America and Britain’s fate “will be sad.” (It’s time for the CiC to return to a public position and power)

Several Iranian media outlets reported on Tuesday that Tehran had appointed a new ambassador to Saudi Arabia.

The two nations agreed in March to restore diplomatic ties, having severed them in 2016. Soon thereafter they announced plans to reopen their respective embassies.

The talks between Riyadh and Tehran were described as a major diplomatic win for China, with President Xi Jinping personally persuading the two nations to patch things up, China’s People’s Daily newspaper reported in late April.

The negotiations were also marked by the conspicuous absence of the US.

"I would highly recommend reading that because we spent four years discussing that there was uncorroborated evidence. The Durham report specifically outlines the outcome of that. It’s very disappointing to hear this," Plfuger said.

The 316-page report mentions former FBI Deputy Assistant Director for Counterintelligence Peter Strzok, who held the same title that Murphy currently does, more than 100 times. Strzok, who was fired in 2018 for anti-Trump messages, led the Crossfire Hurricane probe into the since-disproven allegations that the former president colluded with Russia to win the 2016 election.

Top EU diplomat reveals Ukraine’s ammunition target

Josep Borrell claims the number of shells provided by EU states to Kiev will likely reach one million by March 2024

The European Union will likely be able to fulfill its promise to supply Ukraine with a total of one million artillery roundswithin 12 months, the bloc’s top diplomat has said. Member states have already shipped 220,000 shells of varying calibers to Kiev since March when the pledge was made, Josep Borrell added.

Speaking to journalists after a meeting of EU defense ministers in Brussels on Tuesday, Borrell said that the “latest figures actually are much better than we had just some 10 days ago.” The official noted that member states have also provided Kiev with 1,300 missiles since March 20.

“At this rate, we’ll be able to achieve our target of 1 million,” the diplomat predicted.

According to anonymous officials cited by Politico, the total value of the donations has come to approximately €860 million ($926 million).

The EU has promised to reimburse roughly half of that sum, earmarking €1 billion to that end.

Brussels’ plan consists of three stages, with the current, first one envisaging theallocation of ammunition from member states’ own existing stocks. The second phase calls forcountries to chip in and jointly purchase more shellsfrom European defense manufacturers. The final stage of the plan is aimed atboosting the bloc’s overall capacityto produce ammunition and military equipment.

The EU has already set aside another €1 billion for the second phase.

Earlier this month, Borrell revealed that “total EU military support to Ukraine” had reached €5.6 billion ($6 billion). (US is at $120 billion, Trump is always right!)

However, some top-ranking officials, including Estonian Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur and his German colleague Boris Pistorius,expressed doubton Monday as to the ability of European arms producers to ramp up production quickly enough.

Last month, the New York Times published a report, claiming that Western nations were falling short in their efforts to provide Ukraine with the necessary amounts of weapons and munitions. The paper also warned that it would take EU and US industries“years to catch up with the demand” of Kiev, which is“essentially limitless.

Around the same time, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba called on EU countries to speed up deliveries.

Meanwhile, Russia has repeatedly warned that ever-expanding Western military support for Ukraine only serves to prolong the bloodshed, and could potentially lead to a direct confrontation between Russia and NATO.

Prices for iPhones in Russia have plunged by six to ten percent at large retail chains due to a market glut that followed increased supplies of Apple products through parallel imports, media reported on Tuesday.

The prices of some smartphones, depending on their modifications, have dropped by up to 10%, according to news outlet Izvestia.

Russian police begin work in Artyomovsk

The city, known in Ukraine as Bakhmut, was captured by Russia’s forces last week

Russian police officers have started working in the city of Artyomovsk in the Donetsk People’s Republic after the complete capture of the city from Ukraine last week, the acting head of the region announced on Wednesday.

“Starting from today, we have brought the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation to Artemovsk,” Denis Pushilin said, adding that police officers would be tasked withlocating and evacuating any civilians who may still be in the city. (Wow would any still be there?)

He noted that, in the future, theMinistry of Emergency Situations and other Russian agencieswould also start operating in Artyomovsk. After that,work on deminingthe city will begin, he said.

On Saturday, Evgeny Prigozhin, the head of the Wagner private military company, announced that the operation to take control of Artyomovsk had ended and that the city had been “fully captured.”

He also said the Wagner Group would remain in Artyomovsk until Thursday, after which it will hand over control of the city to the Russian Defense Ministry and go on leave to rest and regroup.

The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed that the operation to capture the city had been successfully executed by the Wagner PMC with artillery and air support from regular Russian forces. President Vladimir Putin has congratulated Wagner servicemen and Russian military troops on their success.

Ukraine, which previously claimed that Artyomovsk would be defended at any cost and would become a turning point in the conflict between Moscow and Kiev, has thus far refused to admit the loss of the city.

The Ukrainian Defense Ministry has insisted that fighting for the city was still ongoing. However, at the same time, President Vladimir Zelensky’s senior adviserMikhail Podoliakvowed on Sunday thatUkraine’s armed forces would inevitably recapture Artyomovsk.

A salt mining city with a pre-conflict population of 72,000, Artyomovsk has been the stage of a bloody battle for many months as the city is seen as a key strategic stronghold in the region. Russian forces nearly encircled it and methodically pushed the Ukrainian Army from the western suburbs. The city has been largely destroyed during the fighting.

Last Chinese Emperor's Watch Sells for $6.2 Million

An auction house in Hong Kong sold several items on Tuesday that belonged to Aisin-Giyoro Puyi, the last emperor of China, who was dethroned in 1912. The items included a Swiss-made luxury watch, which went for $6.2 million.

The watch was a Patek Philippe Reference 96 Quantieme Lune, one of just eight known to exist. The unknown collector who purchased it did so at nearly twice the price it was expected to net, setting a record for the make of watch and for timepieces previously owned by emperors.

The ultra-rare timepiece was made in Geneva in 1937 and has a Bauhaus-inspired platinum case that houses a silvered dial, with a rose-gold chapter ring and enamel hour markers. It also has an indicator for phases of the moon and a triple-date calendar - features just as rare in 1930s watches as the watch itself.

Victoria White from Rochester, Minnesota attended the Stop the Steal rally in Washington DC on January 6th. Like many Americans that day it was her first time she ever visited Washington DC. She was excited to attend the rally and stand with President Trump at the Ellipse.

What started as a wonderful trip with family and friends turned into a bloody nightmare. Victoria White was nearly killed by DC police officers during the rally. The police officers, led by Officer Jason Bagshaw beat her in the face and shoulders nearly 40 times with sticks and their fists. Then they dragged her through the US Capitol shoeless and forced her to wait outside without a phone, a coat, or a ride after they released her hours later.

This was after Victoria broke up Antifa activists breaking windows at the US Capitol.

To add insult to injury, the FBI later raided her home and arrested her in Minnesota.

Victoria White was brutally beaten near death by the US Capitol Police.

According to previous statements by local attorney Joseph McBride:

She is hit approximately thirty- five times over the course of 4 minutes and 30 seconds, while appearing to be begging for mercy the entire time. She is hit with the baton while facing away. She is hit with the baton while facing forward. She is speared and poked with the baton about the face so as to inflict maximum pain. She collapses more than once and is stood up by the officers only to be maced and beaten again. At some point, White-shirt puts away his baton, not because he is showing mercy because he has a clear avenue to her face. As such, he unloads on the defenseless woman punching her five times in five seconds, directly in the face, with all of his might.

Fumio Kishida confirmed that the US-led military bloc is looking to open a liaison office in Japan

Japan has no plans to become a member of NATO, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida has said.

He told the national parliament on Wednesday that Tokyo would not be joining the US-led military bloc in any form, according to Reuters.

Earlier this month, Japanese Ambassador to the US Koji Tomita told Nikkei Asia that Japan was “working” towards opening a NATO liaison office in Tokyo, which would become the bloc’s first in Asia.

The same outlet had earlier reported that the mission, which is scheduled to open next year, would be aimed at facilitating NATO’s consultations with Japan and its other allies in the Asia-Pacific, such as Australia, New Zealand and South Korea, in light of geopolitical challenges posed by China and Russia.

Kishida confirmed to MPs that NATO is considering the possibility of establishing a liaison office in the country. However, he added that he was “not aware of any decision made” within the bloc regarding the mission.

The alliance has recently openly admitted its interests in the Indo-Pacific. Last June, the bloc’s allies from the region participated in a NATO summit for the first time ever. Japan, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea have also been invited to the event this year. The 2023 summit will take place in Vilnius, Lithuania on July 11 and 12.

Russia, which strongly opposes NATO’s expansion in Eastern Europe, has criticized the bloc’s attempts to extend its activities into Asia. In March, Russian President Vladimir Putin said the push by the US and its allies to create what he called a “global NATO” resembled the actions of Nazi Germany, Italy and Japan in the 1930s before the outbreak of World War II.

China has also urged its Asian neighbors to exercise “high vigilance” in response to reports of NATO planning to open its first liaison office in the region. Such a move “will inevitably undermine regional peace and stability and stoke camp confrontation,” Beijing warned, adding that the Asia-Pacific region was “not a wrestling ground for geopolitical competition.”

The Russia-led free-trade bloc is striving for the stable economic development of its member states, the president said

The role of theRussia-led Eurasian Economic Union(EEU) in the global arena and the integration of its member states are growing despite external pressure, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday.

He was speaking at the plenary session of the second Eurasian Economic Forum (EEF) in Moscow. The event, which was attended by officials and businesses from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, will run through May 26.

“The numbers speak for themselves. Senior FBI Counterintel Official Stuns Lawmakers With Admission On Durham Report

A senior FBI official stunned GOP members of Congress on Tuesday upon testifying that she has not read or even been briefed on special counsel John Durham‘s report.

Jill Murphy, the FBI’s deputy assistant director of counterintelligence, said during a hearing that she has not “had time” to read the report that was released early last week, though she intends to get to it.

The report, which came at the conclusion of a years-long inquiry, heavily criticized the FBI probe into alleged links between Donald Trump‘s 2016 campaign and Russia.

Rep. August Pfluger (R-TX), chairman of the House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Counterterrorism, Law Enforcement, and Intelligence, said he was “speechless” upon hearing that Murphy had not read the report.

“I would highly recommend reading that because we spent four years discussing that — there was uncorroborated evidence. The Durham report specifically outlines the outcome of that. It’s very disappointing to hear this,” he said.

Although the hearing was focused on Chinese Communist Party “aggression,” other members of the subcommittee took the opportunity to talk about Durham’s report.

Under questioning by Rep. Dan Bishop (R-NC), Murphy conceded that she had not even been briefed on Durham’s report.

Bishop said the report was “devastating” to the FBI and should be of “grave concern” to Murphy in particular because of her role.

“Sir, if you’d like a brief on the Durham report from the Counterintelligence Division, I’m happy to take that back,” Murphy said upon being pressed about why she has not urgently dug into the special counsel’s findings.

“Wow, that sounds almost contemptuous,” Bishop shot back, adding later: “I’m just without words, that the FBI is unconcerned.”

Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY), who offered a negative critique of the Durham inquiry, took aim at his Republican colleagues for being heavily critical of the FBI and even talking about defunding the agency.

“The problem they have is that the FBI is doing its job in investigating their dear leader Donald Trump,” Goldman said. “And if you can undermine the investigator, if you can undermine independent journalists doing investigative reporting, then you can undermine our entire system of democracy.”

The FBI just got caught in yet more massive, outrageous FISA abuses

Like the casino gambling scene in “Casablanca,” the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act court is “shocked, shocked” that the Federal Bureau of Investigation continues to ravage the privacy of vast numbers of Americans.

For each American the FISA court permitted the FBI to target, the bureau illicitly surveilled almost 1,000 additional Americans.

The court’s just-revealed ruling signals the FBI presumed any American suspected of supporting the Jan. 6, 2021, protests forfeited their constitutional rights.

FISA was enacted in 1978 to curb the rampant illegal political spying exposed during the Nixon administration.

After the 9/11 attacks, the George W. Bush administration decided the president was entitled to order the National Security Agency to vacuum up Americans’ and foreigners’ emails and other data without a warrant.

Federal judges disagreed, and the result was a 2008 FISA reform that authorized the feds to continue commandeering vast amounts of data.

But under Section 702 of that law, the FBI was permitted to conduct warrantless searches of that stash for Americans’ data only to seek foreign intelligence information or evidence of crime.

The heavily redacted 2022 opinion finally released Friday revealed the FBI conducted 278,000 improper searches of Americans in 2020 and early 2021.

Incredibly, the bureau conducted roughly 3.4 million warrantless searches of Americans in 2021 via Section 702.

The day before, Thursday, an FBI whistleblower revealed in congressional testimony that FBI headquarters pressured agents to treat anyone who attended the Jan. 6 protests as a criminal suspect.

The FISA court opinion reveals the FBI wrongfully cast a far broader net.

Roughly 2,000 protesters supporting President Donald Trump (including an unknown number of undercover agents and informants) entered the Capitol that day.

But an FBI analyst exploited FISA to unjustifiably conduct searches on 23,132 Americans citizens “to find evidence of possible foreign influence, although the analyst conducting the queries had no indications of foreign influence,” according to FISA Chief Judge Rudolph Contreras.

The court ruling did not disclose the standards (if any) the FBI used for its warrantless Jan. 6 searches. Did Twitter retweets suffice?

It gets worse. The FBI exploited FISA to target 19,000 donors to the campaign of an unnamed candidate who challenged an incumbent member of Congress.

An FBI analyst justified the warrantless searches by claiming “the campaign was a target of foreign influence,” but even the Justice Department concluded that almost all those searches violated FISA rules. (In March, Rep. Darin LaHood (R-Ill.) revealed he had been wrongly targeted by the FBI in numerous FISA 702 searches — but he wasn’t the challenger mentioned here.)

The FBI also conducted secret searches of the emails and other data of 133 people arrested during the 2020 protests after George Floyd’s killing.

And the bureau conducted 656 warrantless searches to see if it could find any derogatory information on people it planned to use as informants.

The Biden administration has 'failed to implement basic screening and vetting measures' at the border, lawmakers say

The Salvadoran national who raped and killed a 20-year-old American citizen was granted entry into the United States in spite of his MS-13 affiliation and arrest record, a congressional investigation found.

The unnamed 17-year-old alien charged with the rape and murder of Kayla Hamilton was arrested "years before coming to the U.S." for "illicit association with the dangerous MS-13 gang," Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee reported Tuesday. The report claims the alien’s history should have been detected by either Border Patrol or the Department of Health and Human Services, both of which held the alien in custody before releasing him into the country. It is unclear why the alien never received a sufficient background check, but the report suggests lax immigration policies are to blame.

"The sad fact is that [Department of Homeland Security secretary Alejandro Mayorkas] and the Biden Administration have failed to implement basic screening and vetting measures—such as checking with law enforcement officials in an alien's home country—to ensure that those entering the U.S. are not dangerous criminals or known gang members," the report reads. "This callous disregard for the safety of Americans, in the name of expedited alien processing, resulted in the tragic and preventable murder of Kayla Hamilton."

The case offers a window into how the Biden administration’s lax border policies put Americans at risk across the country. At least 14,136 unaccompanied minors entered the United States at the same time as the unidentified suspect, a small subset of the 5.5 million aliens who have entered the United States illegally since President Joe Biden took office. Some of those aliens who entered the country illegally have gone on to commit high-profile crimes, including the Mexican national—who had been deported at least four times since 2009—suspected of killing five neighbors in Texas last month.

The 17-year-old suspect in the case, who has not been named due to his age, arrived at the southern border as an unaccompanied minor in March 2022. After his apprehension by Border Patrol, the suspect was then transferred to a Health and Human Services facility before being released into the custody of an alleged first cousin in Maryland.

The suspect then fled home after just a month, local authorities said. Two months later, he allegedly raped and killed Hamilton, an autistic woman who lived in Aberdeen, Maryland. The alien was arrested in January and charged with first-degree murder, robbery, and rape.

The report notes a number of warning signs that law enforcement overlooked before and after the suspect was released from federal custody. Maryland police discovered that the alleged murderer had gang tattoos upon his arrest which were not noted in his case file, the report states.

Connecticut Passes Bill to Ban ‘Discrimination’ Against ‘Minor Attracted Persons’

On May 9, the Connecticut House of Representatives passed a bill that would effectively expand the definition of discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation to include “discrimination” against so-called “minor-attracted persons.”

H.B. 6638, also known as “An Act Revising the State’s Antidiscrimination Statutes,” passed by a landslide margin of 132-17, with two members absent from the vote. A significant majority of the state’s 53 House Republicans voted in favor of the bill.

The state’s House Democratic caucus described the bill as seeking to “modernize and improve consistency in” the state’s “discrimination statutes.” The Connecticut American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), which supports the bill, used similar language, stating that “it modernizes the existing definition of sexual orientation, moving away from thirty-year-old outdated and offensive terminology.”

However, many critics say that this “updated” definition would by extension allow the state to aid and abet pedophilic predators.

The Family Institute of Connecticut has termed H.B. 6638 the “Pedophile Anti-Discrimination Bill.” One week after the controversial bill passed in the state House, the non-profit stated that if the legislation were enacted, it would change the state’s legal definition of “sexual orientation”

in 2 big ways. It becomes untethered from “heterosexuality, homosexuality or bisexuality” and instead ties to “identity.” Second, it now includes identities whose underlying behavior would be a sex crime.

Untied from the orientations of “heterosexuality, homosexuality or bisexuality” the law will be changed to prevent discrimination of any “identity”. Identities related to any romantic, emotional or sexual attraction towards a gender.

Therefore, the Family Institute of Connecticut argues that “even people with sexual attractions like pedophilia and nepiophilia would be protected from discrimination,” although “the associated behavior” would remain criminal, because the bill “would not legalize those crimes.”

Despite conceding that the bill does not go as far as to make pedophilia legal in Connecticut, the nonprofit asserts it would make it so

Connecticut citizens and businesses could not deny persons with those professed sexual attractions and identities from working or volunteering in our homes, hospitals, and schools, or otherwise “discriminate” based on those professed attractions.

The bill has yet to be voted on by the state Senate. If it passes in the upper chamber, it will head to the desk of Democratic Gov. Ned Lamont, who has a record of being a consistent promoter of the LGBTQ movement.

In an interview with Natural News founder and editor Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, for Brighteon TV, Bannon, who hosts the popular “War Room” podcast on the Real America’s Voice network, was first asked if he agrees that the country is living through one of the most dire situations in its entire history, and there is only a short window of opportunity to turn things around or lose the country as it was founded.

“I don’t think there’s any doubt. I think if you look at the three previous crises of this country — the Civil War, the Great Depression, and World War II…and that’s just the problems on the basic politics, economics, invasion, sovereignty issues. It doesn’t even deal with the issues of an existential threat like the Chinese Communist Party and how they’ve infiltrated… And it doesn’t even touch upon artificial intelligence and the convergence and the singularity. So if you look at this — this is, I think, the most dangerous time not simply in American history, I think it’s the most dangerous time in world history. And now, because of artificial intelligence and biotechnology and the advances, I think it’s the most dangerous time for the human race.

He also agreed with Adams that the programmers of AI tools like ChatGTP are injecting left-wing cultural mores and “woke” values, but he added it gets worse than that. Eventually, he believes that AI machines and algorithms will be able to program themselves and could even view humanity as the ‘enemy.’

During the segment, the two also discussed billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk, who Bannon said bought Twitter as a means of eventually creating a massive AI operation. He also claimed that Musk’s electric vehicle company, Tesla, was funded with Chinese money.

“If he’s got some plan or sees it as some cybernetic global brain for humanity…if you see what he’s thinking about with Twitter, what he feels he has, combined with the AI of Tesla, understanding that both are fully financed by the Chinese Communist Party, that’s never been disclosed, and he won’t talk about it, we have a problem.”

Adams noted that Brighteon TV content remains banned on Twitter despite Musk’s free speech pledge and that his legal team has already sent demand letters to the platform with a warning that a lawsuit will be forthcoming unless Musk allows the content to be shown.

But Bannon doesn’t believe Musk is prepared to do that because, he said, Adams is one of the most sophisticated anti-CCP voices in America today, and Musk is “bought and paid for” by the Chinese.

Next, the topic turned to the global effort to centralize currencies through the use of digitized money via “Central Bank Digital Currencies,” with Adams noting that Western governments, in particular, are rapidly moving in that direction.

Businessman asked the PM for assurances over tax status of employees helping to make ventilators for hospitals

Downing Street has launched a formal leak inquiry into the release of private text messages between Boris Johnson and the entrepreneur Sir James Dyson.

They revealed that Sir James, a Tory donor, had appealed directly to the Prime Minister last year for help in fixing a potential tax problem facing his employees.

The messages &ndash; exchanged last March as Sir James proposed supplying ventilators to hospitals as the pandemic struck – fuelled Labour accusations of cronyism at the heart of government.

Mr Johnson told MPs this week that he made “no apology for moving heaven and earth” to secure ventilators to treat seriously ill Covid patients.

The launch of a mole hunt came just 24 hours after the Prime Minister’s official spokesperson ruled out an inquiry into the leak to the BBC.

They told reporters: “I can confirm that, yes, we have instructed the Cabinet Office to look into this.

“The position has changed from yesterday &ndash; it was correct at the time yesterday but, as usual, we keep things under review and we have now decided to undertake this internal inquiry.

“As you would expect, we continually look at this and the position we decided today is that we want to make sure we have this internal inquiry into that.”

The spokesperson said the inquiry will probe the source of leaks of private communication of the Prime Minister “as related to this issue of Dyson”.

It would not cover other leaked messages including reports of exchanges between Mr Johnson and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

The inquiry will be carried out internally by the Cabinet Office and sources said there was no police involvement at this stage.

The spokesperson refused to get into details of whether the PM’s phone number had been changed.

No 10 also said the Government would be setting out more details relating to correspondence between the PM and Dyson “very shortly”.

“The Prime Minister said in the House he’s happy to share all the details with the House, as he shared them with his officials.

“That’s what we’re working on, we’re pulling together that information, it will be published shortly.”

The PM’s spokesperson repeated that Mr Johnson had followed official guidance in relation to dealing with requests from private companies, saying that “in all instances the PM made sure he followed the process”.

Dyson had agreed to work on creating a ventilator that could be used in hospitals but Sir James was concerned his staff and the company &ndash; now based in Singapore – may need to pay additional tax if they came to the UK to work on the project.

The BBC said he had written to the Treasury asking for an assurance this would not be the case and, when he did not receive a reply, contacted Mr Johnson directly.

Sir James said in a text his firm was ready but that “sadly” it seemed no-one wanted them to proceed.

Mr Johnson replied: “I will fix it tomo! We need you. It looks fantastic.” He then followed this up with another message saying: “(Chancellor) Rishi (Sunak) says it is fixed!! We need you here.”

When Sir James then sought a further assurance, Mr Johnson replied: “James, I am First Lord of the Treasury and you can take it that we are backing you to do what you need.”

OSLO, May 24 (Reuters) - The world's largest aircraft carrier, the USS Gerald R. Ford, sailed into Oslo on Wednesday, a first for such a U.S. ship, in a show of NATO force at a time of heightened tension between NATO and Russia over the war in Ukraine.

The ship and its crew will be conducting training exercises with the Norwegian armed forces along the country's coast in the coming days, the Norwegian military said.

"This visit is an important signal of the close bilateral relationship between the U.S. and Norway and a signal of the credibility of collective defence and deterrence," said Jonny Karlsen, a spokesperson for the Norwegian Joint Headquarters, the operational command centre of the military.

At one spot on the Oslo fjord, dozens of people of all ages gathered on the shore to observe the vessel as it cruised by, taking pictures and videos.

Norwegian media reported the aircraft carrier would sail north of the Arctic Circle. Karlsen declined to comment on the reports.

The Russian embassy in Oslo condemned the aircraft carrier's Oslo visit.

"There are no questions in the (Arctic) north that require a military solution, nor topics where outside intervention is needed," the embassy said in a Facebook post.

"Considering that it is admitted in Oslo that Russia poses no direct military threat to Norway, such demonstrations of power appear illogical and harmful."

NATO member Norway shares a border with Russia in the Arctic and last year became Europe's largest gas supplier after a drop in Russian gas flows.

The Norwegian military and NATO allies have been patrolling around offshore oil and gas platforms since the autumn, following explosions on the Nord Stream pipelines in the Baltic Sea.

BOSTON (ChurchMilitant.com) - Three former Catholic students are suing Cdl. Seán O'Malley, president of the Pontifical Commission for the Protection of Minors, for covering up alleged sex abuse by a former principal of the Arlington Catholic School.

The lawsuit against the cardinal, who heads the Boston archdiocese where clerical sex abuse scandals first exploded in 2002, was filed on May 5 — a day after O'Malley admitted that the commission has been "the subject of intense criticism both internally and externally."

"Cardinal O'Malley has failed woefully in protecting children within the archdiocese of Boston, never mind worldwide," attorney Mitchell Garabedian told reporters Monday.

Garabedian emphasized the prelate's role as president of the child protection commission.

Bishop Robert Deeley, head of the diocese of Portland, Maine, and Bp. Peter Uglietto, an auxiliary bishop of the Boston archdiocese, are also named in the lawsuit, which was obtained by Church Militant. Both hold the position of vicar general.

The civil suit alleges that Stephen Biagioni, a former vice principal at Arlington Catholic High School, sexually abused the boys who were between the ages of 15 and 17 from 2011 to 2016.

The cardinal and the two bishops "knew, or were negligent in not knowing" that Biagioni, who was later promoted to principal, engaged "in explicit sexual behavior and lewd and lascivious conduct," the complaint states.

IRS Commissioner: DOJ Responsible for Whistleblower Purge from Hunter Biden Tax Probe

IRS Commissioner Daniel Werfel told Congress the Justice Department (DOJ) made the decision to purge an IRS whistleblower from the DOJ’s probe into Hunter Biden, according to a letter sent to House Ways and Means Committee Chair Jason Smith (R-MO).

Werfel’s letter on May 17 responded to Smith’s May 16 inquiry about concerns that a high-ranking IRS agent faced retaliation for raising red flags about alleged political interference in the tax probe of Hunter Biden.

Werfel said the decision to remove a whistleblower from the tax investigation was at the DOJ’s direction, confirming what a second IRS whistleblower alleged Monday.

“The IRS whistleblower you reference alleges that the change in their work assignment came at the direction of the Department of Justice,” reads the letter, obtained by Fox News. “As a general matter and not in reference to any specific case, I believe it is important to emphasize that in any matter involving federal judicial proceedings, the IRS follows the direction of the Justice Department.”

Werfel disavowed any potential role he allegedly had in removing the IRS whistleblowers from the case.

“I want to state unequivocally that I have not intervened – and will not intervene – in any way that would impact the status of any whistleblower,” Werfel said.

But Werfel also claimed he could not provide any additional details about the purge due to “pending proceedings” and absolved himself of further looking into the incident.

“In light of laws and policies designed to protect the integrity of pending proceedings, I am unable to provide details on this matter,” he wrote.

Werfel added:

When an IRS employee raises allegations of this kind, the Commissioner’s office does not run an investigation, seek the identity of the whistleblower, or similarly intervene; instead, the Inspector General serves as a critical guardian of the whistleblower process and conducts relevant inquiries into the matter.

On Monday, a second IRS whistleblower in the DOJ’s probe into Hunter Biden for tax fraud surfaced after the expulsion of the whole IRS team investigating the president’s son, documents sent to Congress revealed.

It revealed that internal risk limits have been breached more than 300 times and that the bank had changed how it calculated certain risk limits rather than addressing the underlying problem.

The report showed chase had mischaracterized the portfolio producing the losses as a risk mitigating hedge when it was not and it further showed that chase had dodged regulatory oversight by omitting data in its reports to the zero cc and failing to respond appropriately to information requests.

It revealed patterns of inconsistent and insufficiently robust follow up when problems were flagged and it were further revealed that supervisors were often too hesitant to challenge the bank.

Chinese state-sponsored hackers have compromised “critical” cyber infrastructure in a variety of industries, including government and communications organizations, Microsoft said Wednesday.

The hacking group is codenamed”Volt Typhoon,” and has been in operation since 2021.

Impacted parties have already been notified.

Microsoft

warned on Wednesday that Chinese state-sponsored hackers had compromised “critical” U.S. cyber infrastructure across numerous industries with a focus on gathering intelligence.

The Chinese hacking group, codenamed “Volt Typhoon,” has operated since mid-2021, Microsoft said in an advisory. The organization is apparently working to disrupt “critical communications infrastructure between the United States and Asia,” Microsoft said, to stymie efforts during “future crises.”

The National Security Agency put out a bulletin on Wednesday, detailing how the hack works and how cybersecurity teams should respond.
