A federal judge said Wednesday that federal prohibitions on licensed dealers selling handguns to 18- to 20-year-olds are unconstitutional, in what is the latest legal volley over age-based firearm regulations – a court fight that has escalated since the Supreme Court’s major Second Amendment ruling last year.

US District Judge Robert Payne of the Eastern District of Virginia said that under the test laid out in the Supreme Court’s recent ruling, the federal regulation runs afoul of the Second Amendment.

“Because the statutes and regulations in question are not consistent with our Nation’s history and tradition, they, therefore, cannot stand,” he wrote, referencing the Supreme Court ruling’s instruction that lower courts look to the gun regulations that were in effect during the Constitution’s framing to decide whether a current gun law violates the Second Amendment.

The Justice Department declined to comment. But its attorneys have the option to ask that Payne’s ruling be paused for it to be appealed. There are also procedural questions about the case that must be settled before Payne issues a mandate that puts the ruling into effect.

In his opinion, Payne concluded that 18-to 21-year-olds were part of the American political community – citing the age group’s ability to vote and enlist in the military – and thus the age group fell under the Second Amendment’s protections.

“If the Court were to exclude 18-to-21-year-olds from the Second Amendment’s protection, it would impose limitations on the Second Amendment that do not exist from other constitutional guarantees,” Payne, a George H. W. Bush-appointee, wrote.

He then turned to the second part of the Supreme Court’s test, where the high court said that a regulation could only be upheld if analogous regulations existed at the time of the framing.

“The Government has not presented any evidence of age-based restrictions on the purchase or sale of firearms from the colonial era, Founding, or Early Republic,” Payne said.

He later concluded that the “lack of analogous regulations permits a finding that the Founders considered age-based regulations on the purchase of firearms to circumscribe the right to keep and bear arms confirmed by the Second Amendment.”

Even before the 2022 Supreme Court’s ruling, known as New York State Rifle & Pistol Association, Inc. v. Bruen, the constitutionality of gun restrictions for older teenagers was a flashpoint of firearm litigation and federal courts have taken different approaches to the question. Those in favor of gun safety laws have pointed to the prevalence of mass shootings perpetrated by shooters in their late teens, while opponents of gun restrictions for 18-to-20-year-olds have argued that teenage participation in militias at the timing of the founding puts the constitutionality of such laws in questions.

Last year’s Bruen opinion – authored by Justice Clarence Thomas and joined by the high court’s other GOP-appointees – put these legal battles on overdrive. The new opinion from Payne hints at what could be a major dispute that the Supreme Court must ultimately resolve.

In March, the 11th US Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a Florida law – passed after the massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School – that raised the minimum age to purchase a gun from 18 to 21. (Federal trial courts in Virginia sit under the 4th US Circuit Court of Appeals, and as such are not bound by 11th Circuit precedents.) In concluding the Florida ban was constitutional, the 11th Circuit opinion pointed to similar restrictions that were in place in the mid-1800s, around the time of the ratification of the 14th Amendment, which extended the Second Amendment’s protections to states.

Payne acknowledged Wednesday he was taking a different approach than that of the 11th Circuit. He noted because his case concerned a federal restriction rather than a state law, he was looking at the gun regulations in place at the country’s founding, in the late 18th century, when the Second Amendment was adopted. Whether the 11th Circuit had a “sound” rationale in relying instead on Reconstruction-era regulations “will be tested on appeal,” Payne said in a footnote. 1/2

If the dark secrets about the U.S. banking system that federal regulators have been keeping since the financial crash of 2008 are allowed to be aired in public Congressional hearings as a result of the current banking crisis – and mainstream media will grow a backbone and cover those hearings – it could help the U.S. avoid a catastrophic financial reckoning down the road.

For years, Wall Street On Parade has been reporting that just four banks in the U.S. control more than 85 percent of all the opaque derivatives in the banking system. We have also regularly reported how federal agencies have singled out these four banks for posing systemic risk to the financial stability of the United States. We’re talking about JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo and Citigroup’s Citibank.

On March 30, we crunched the numbers from the regulatory filings made by these banks (call reports) and reported that as of December 31, 2022, these four banks held a combined $3.286 trillion in uninsured domestic deposits. (Federal deposit insurance is capped at $250,000 per depositor per bank. Uninsured deposits taking flight were a key element in the recent bank runs that led to the second, third and fourth largest bank failures in U.S. history.) As of December 31, 2022, JPMorgan Chase Bank N.A. held $2.015 trillion in deposits in domestic offices, of which $1.058 trillion were uninsured; Bank of America held $1.9 trillion in deposits in domestic offices, of which $909.26 billion were uninsured; Wells Fargo held $1.4 trillion in deposits in domestic offices, of which $721.1 billion were uninsured; and Citibank N.A. (parent, Citigroup) held $777 billion in deposits in domestic offices, of which $598.2 billion were uninsured.

We can now put that $3.286 trillion figure into sharper perspective. On May 1, the FDIC released its report on “Options for Deposit Insurance Reform.” Without mentioning that just four banks controlled $3.286 trillion of uninsured deposits at year end, the FDIC report did provide the figure of $7.7 trillion as the total of uninsured domestic deposits held by all banks at the end of 2022.

That means that just these four banks held 43 percent of all uninsured deposits at 4,127 federally insured commercial banks in the U.S. as of year end 2022.

The FDIC report reads as follows:

“Following the 2008-2013 banking crisis, the reliance by the U.S. banking system on uninsured deposits grew dramatically, both in dollar volume and as a proportion of overall deposit funding. From year-end 2009 through year-end 2022, uninsured domestic deposits at FDIC-institutions increased at an annualized rate of 9.8 percent, from $2.3 trillion to $7.7 trillion.”

Give your brain a few moments to thoroughly digest that statement. Federal regulators have known since the 1930s that uninsured deposits are the most likely to bolt in a banking crisis, and yet, after the worst banking crisis in 2008 since the Great Depression, both Congress and federal regulators have allowed uninsured deposits to more than triple at U.S. banks – as well as to become concentrated at just four banks. (The derivatives BS is just as concentrated with the top four having the bulk of the reported O.C.C. OTC derivatives-it is also a lagging report like this one)

Tanner Donaldson, a 9-year-old boy with stage 4 chronic kidney disease, was born with a rare birth defect causing irreversible kidney damage. Tanner’s father, Dane Donaldson, is a suitable live kidney donor, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital has refused to conduct the transplant surgery because Dane is not vaccinated against the coronavirus.

The hospital has a policy that requires all organ donors to be fully vaccinated to minimize complications during and after surgery. Dane questioned the hospital’s hypocrisy, pointing out that deceased organ donors are not required to be vaccinated. He even offered to sign a waiver freeing the hospital from liability.

But the hospital still rejected him.

In April, the Epoch Times reached out to the hospital for an explanation. “Individuals who are actively infected with COVID-19 have a much higher rate of complications during and after surgery, even if the infection is asymptomatic,” the hospital responded.

Dane opposes the vaccine for religious reasons. But he has also been hesitant “because he has seen a rising number of clients get critically ill after receiving it,” according to the news outlet.

The hospital acknowledged that live donors are the best for kidney transplants but said they are “not without risks.”

This is one of several stories in which people have been unable to donate their organs because of faulty COVID policies. There is no telling how many people have perished because hospitals are more concerned with making sure people are vaccinated than actually saving lives.

Denying life-saving medical treatments to individuals based on their vaccination status is ethically wrong for several reasons. Firstly, it goes against the fundamental principle of medical ethics, which is to prioritize the well-being and best interests of the patient. In these cases, the patients in need of organ transplants are being denied potentially life-saving procedures solely because their potential donors are unvaccinated.

Even worse, there seems to be no real evidence that an unvaccinated donor would place people like Donaldson in more peril than the ailment they are suffering from. This decision disregards the urgent medical needs of the patients and places a higher priority on vaccination status rather than the health and lives of individuals.

A Florida appeals court has opened the door for the possible release of transcripts of the grand jury investigation into notorious sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein nearly 20 years ago that ended with prosecutors negotiating a plea deal that critics have called questionably lenient.

Florida’s Fourth District Court of Appeals unanimously agreed that Circuit Judge Donald W. Hafele had erred when he ruled he had no authority to release the normally secret transcripts of the 2006 Palm Beach County proceedings. The court cited a state law provision that says grand jury records can be made public if that is a “furtherance of justice.”

The court in Wednesday’s decision ordered Hafele to review the transcripts and to release those he deems would further justice, redacting the names of victims, witnesses and those who have not been criminally charged. Top Erdogan Official Accuses US Of Meddling In Turkish Elections

Turkey's Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu (of Erdogan's Justice and Development Party/AKP) on Friday charged that the United States is meddling in the country's elections, set to take place Sunday. The national election is shaping up to be the biggest challenge to President Erdogan's grip on power in years.

"The United States is meddling in these elections... Everyone in this country already knows this, US President [Joe Biden] himself declares this. The attack on [presidential candidate of Turkiye and leader of the Memleket party] Muharrem Ince... it is clear where it came from, it is clear where it was coordinated. This is America. In recent days, Biden has stepped up his people in Turkiye," Soylu said in an interview, as translated in regional media.

He further charged that Washington's efforts of trying to subjugate Ankara have failed. "Turkey has a clear position in its foreign policy. The US says 'Come and obey me.' We obey the Turkish interests," Soylu said.

"I am among the most exposed to attacks and insults, and a big part of them comes from foreign accounts," he explained, while also saying the government is taking extra precautions to defend against cyberattacks.

Soylu's reference is to Muharrem Ince, whose pullout is being widely seen as a huge boost to Erdogan's main challenger, the CHP's Kemal Kilicdaroglu. The Associated Press reported Thursday:

The candidate who pulled out, Muharrem Ince, is the leader of the center-left Homeland Party. He was one of four contenders running in Sunday’s presidential election. Turkey holds a parliamentary election the same day.

Ince had faced criticism for potentially ciphering support from the six-party Nation Alliance, which has united behind the candidacy of opposition leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu, and thereby forcing the presidential contest into a second-round.

"I am withdrawing from the race," Ince told reporters in front of his party’s headquarters, following weeks of resisting calls to step down. "I am doing this for my country."

Ince's announcement came a mere three days before the May 14 election, and while his polling reportedly slid down to 2%. He didn't throw his support behind any other candidate, given he was popular among voters dissatisfied with either of the two main contenders. His dropping from the race hurts Erdogan, given Ince was seen as siphoning off crucial votes from Kilicdaroglu.

After seventh-grader Liam Morrison was sent home from his Massachusetts school in March for wearing a "There Are Only Two Genders" T-shirt — and later gave the school board an earful about it — he defiantly wore the shirt to school again last Friday.

The kid adds a little plot twist

Only this time, the plucky 12-year-old's shirt included the word "Censored" over part of the verboten slogan.

It wouldn't be a surprise if Liam's in-your-face trolling made blood boil among staff at Middleborough's Nichols Middle School. Indeed, he was told to remove the shirt.

He did so — but a law firm representing Liam said he's now suing.

"At this point, Liam and his parents have decided to take legal action because we believe this is a clear violation of his First Amendment rights. So, we're in the process of getting ready to file a lawsuit against the school," Sam Whiting of the Massachusetts Family Institute told the Enterprise.

The Enterprise said several members of the Middleborough School Committee, as well as Superintendent Carolyn Lyons, did not respond to multiple requests for comment on the matter.

What's the background?

Whiting told the Enterprise that the school said the message on Liam's T-shirt is tantamount to bullying and harassment and that staff told the seventh-grader it targets a "protected class" of students.

The paper added that the district's dress code says “clothing must not state, imply, or depict hate speech or imagery that target groups based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, religious affiliation, or any other classification.”

Whiting in a demand letter said the school's acting principal Heather Tucker indicated to Liam's father that amid the March dust-up, "several" staff members and students complained about his son's T-shirt "but did not cite a particular number" and "did not give any examples of disruptions or potential disruptions that the shirt had caused or was likely to cause."

In fact, Liam told the school board last month that no students or staff told him they were bothered by what he was wearing — and some students even said they supported him and wanted a similar T-shirt.

What's more, Liam added to the board that he didn't complain about diversity posters and pride flags in the school "because others have rights to their beliefs just as I do."

In the video, federal employees hand bags over to the illegals, who become excited when they open them and discover that US taxpayers have gifted them free new iPhones.

Interestingly the illegals, who are claiming to need asylum in the United States, began using the phones like they had owned a smartphone before. Leading many to wonder how poor and mistreated these people really were in their homelands.

On April 6th, 2022, former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki was asked if illegal immigrants were receiving free American taxpayer-funded smartphones. Psaki answered the question with yes and stated that the Biden Administration was providing illegal immigrants with free government-funded smartphones for the reason of ” contacting them.”

The average American pays $127 dollars a month for their cell phone and service. Rising inflation due to Joe Biden’s economy has caused great financial strain on American families. Biden’s solution to American families struggling is to buy generic. The Biden Administration has not made public how much money the free smartphones are costing the American taxpayer.

Border Patrol Migrant Processing Centers Filled After Trump-Era Policy’s End

Border Patrol migrant processing centers are filled with more than 25,000 migrants hours after the expiration of Title 42, the Trump-era expulsion policy, according to internal agency data obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Title 42, which was responsible for the expulsion of more than 2 million migrants, ended at 11:59 p.m. Thursday. The early Friday morning data show that several sectors of the southern border, including Arizona’s Yuma and Tucson sectors, are 219% and 269% over capacity, respectively.

The custody numbers show that processing centers are mostly full of single adults.

One week ago, processing centers had more than 20,000 migrants in custody, according to an internal document previously obtained by the DCNF. At the time, Tucson sector was at 154% capacity and Yuma’s sector was at 136% capacity.

“We’re already getting hammered,” a Border Patrol agent working along the southern border, who requested anonymity because they’re not authorized to speak publicly, recently told the DCNF.

“Agents are being pulled of the line again to work at the tents. We have no agents in the field again other than transport and buses,” the agent added.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

Moscow does not target space assets because it would inevitably trigger retaliation, Dmitry Rogozin has said

Russia has the tools needed to disable hostile satellites, butrefrains from doing so to avoid escalation, Dmitry Rogozin, former head of Roscosmos space agency, said on Wednesday.

In an interview with the Moscow Speaking radio station, Rogozin was asked to comment on Russia’s capability to destroy Western satellites, including Starlink systems operated by Elon Musk’s SpaceX company.

“If we need towhack down, physically destroy, or simply neutralize the enemy orbital constellation…we will do that very quickly. We have all the necessary means for this,” the ex-Roscosmos head, who now commands a volunteer fighting force called ‘Tsar’s Wolves’, said.

However, Rogozin cautioned thatany attackor other actions seeking to disable satellites would beseen as a casus belli. “This is a pretext for war, which will spill into space.”

Russia would face retaliation, immediately losing all of its own satellites, he said, adding that this would lead to an escalation and war.

He also said thatMoscow really needs a satellite system like Starlink, which has thousands of relays enabling users to control drones in real time and evade electronic warfare measures.

Since the start of the Ukraine conflict, SpaceX has provided Kiev with thousands of Starlink terminals to help the local population to stay connected to the internet.

In February however, as Kiev started to increasingly rely on the satellites to fight Russia, SpaceX limited the Ukrainian military’s ability to control drones, with a senior company official explaining that this technology “was never intended to be weaponized.”

Musk himself has said that he did not intend for his satellites to be the reason for the Ukraine conflict spiraling into WWIII.

In early April, the Russian Foreign Ministry also accused Kiev and “a number of foreign states” of attempting to tamper with Russian civilian satellites, warning that this is in violation of international law and could trigger “an appropriate response.”

USGS Alert Levels Up at Volcanoes in the United States: ORANGE and YELLOW in Effect

The USGS continues to monitor volcanoes around the United States; of the more than 160 they watch, 7 are experiencing elevated activity. Due to that activity, two of them are at an elevated WATCH / ORANGE status while five are at an ADVISORY / YELLOW level. All of the other volcanoes USGS is monitoring today are either at GREEN or unrated conditions.

The seven volcanoes showing signs of unrest or activity are the Great Sitkin volcano, Semisopochnoi, Kilauea, Aniakchak, Takawangha, Tanaga, and Trident. The two volcanoes earning the elevated WATCH/ORANGE status are Alaska’s Great Sitkin and Semisopochnoi volcanoes.

Within the United States, the USGS tracks dozens of potentially active volcanoes, most of which are in Alaska. In Alaska alone, there are more than 130 volcanoes and volcanic fields which have been active within the geologically young last 2 million years. 50 have been active since the mid 1700s and AVO studies those too.

Another place famous for its volcanoes is Hawaii; on the Big Island of Hawaii, Kilauea, Mauna Loa, and Hualalai are considered active and potential threats. As of today, none are erupting but that could change in the coming days with signs of increased activity at Kilauea, the most active of the Hawaiian bunch. The U.S. is only home to a fraction of the world’s volcanoes: according to USGS, there are normally around 2 dozen erupting volcanoes around the world at any given time. The USGS says there are about 1,500 potentially active volcanoes worldwide, with about 500 of the 1,500 erupting in modern historical times.

The Hawaii volcanoes are monitored by the Hawaii Volcano Observatory (HVO) while the Alaska volcanoes are monitored by the Alaska Volcano Observatory (AVO.) In addition to the AVO and HVO, there are also the California Volcano Observatory , Cascades Volcano Observatory, the Yellowstone Volcano Observatory, and the Northern Mariana Islands Volcano Observatory. Each of those additional volcano observatories within the USGS are monitoring volcanoes in their respective regions. At this time, none of those other observatories are reporting unusual activity or signs of anything more than background noise for now.

In the U.S., the USGS and volcano observatory units are responsible for issuing Aviation Codes and Volcanic Activity Alert Levels. Aviation Codes are green, yellow, orange, or red. When ground-based instrumentation is insufficient to establish that a volcano is at a typical background level of activity, it is simply “unassigned.” While green means typical activity associated with a non-eruptive state, yellow means a volcano is exhibiting signs of elevated unrest above known background levels. When a volcano exhibits heightened or escalating unrest with the increased potential of eruption, it jumps to orange. Finally, when an eruption is imminent with significant emission of volcanic ash expected in the atmosphere or an eruption is underway with significant emission of volcanic ash into the atmosphere, the code becomes red. Volcanic Activity Alert levels are normal, advisory, watch, or warning. As with aviation codes, if data is insufficient, it is simply labeled as “unassigned.” When the volcano is at typical background activity in a non-eruptive state, it is considered normal. If the volcano exhibits signs of elevated unrest above background level, an advisory is issued. If a volcano exhibits heightened or escalating unrest, a watch is issued while a warning is issued when a hazardous eruption is imminent.

Interceptor launched, but did not hit its target, spokesman says, week after system failed to activate in Sderot; 4 civilians killed in Gaza by rockets falling short, army claims

The Israel Defense Forces said an Iron Dome interceptor missile suffered a “technical fault” Thursday, missing a rocket launched from the Gaza Strip that ultimately struck a home in Rehovot, killing one Israeli and injuring several others.

However, military spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari described the issue — the second to plague the system in just over a week — as likely isolated, claiming that the missile defense system managed to down 91 percent of targeted projectiles.

“There was a technical fault, the interceptor was launched and did not hit the rocket,” Hagari told reporters Friday. He noted that the malfunction would be investigated further.

He said the deadly rocket was similar to the hundreds of other crudely made projectiles launched from Gaza over the recent escalation, but it hit the apartment building at “a complex angle,” causing widespread destruction.

The direct hit blew a massive hole in an apartment on the third story of a building in Rehovot, a city of 150,000 some 45 kilometers (27 miles) north of Gaza, raining rubble on the street below.

The malfunction came after the Iron Dome had a separate issue that kept it from activating during a flareup with Islamic Jihad earlier this month. The malfunction led to several rockets landing in populated areas, including one that hit a construction site in the city of Sderot and wounded three foreign nationals.

The Iron Dome has seen malfunctions in the past. In May 2021, a technical issue with an Iron Dome battery during a massive rocket barrage toward the coastal city of Ashkelon prevented some rockets from being intercepted and may have been responsible for the deaths of two women and the injury of dozens of people.

The announcement was made at New York's first-ever Unity Summit, a statewide convening of more than 500 New Yorkers representing community groups.

New York state will provide $25 million to organizations that are considered vulnerable to hate crimes, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced Wednesday. Her announcement comes as Jews in New York City and the state face a surge of antisemitic incidents.

"This is our defining moment — a moment to stand up as one New York and make clear there is no place for hate in our communities," Hochul said. "I was proud to convene New York's first-ever Unity Summit to bring together leading experts working to fight hate and bias. Working together, I know we can make this state safer and more welcoming for all."

The funding will go to organizations serving communities at a high risk of hate crimes and vandalism, and will be used to fund security measures, training, public awareness campaigns and outreach measures. The state's 2024 financial year package also includes a $3.5 million in funding for a newly-formed hate and bias prevention unit.

The announcement was made at New York's first-ever Unity Summit, a statewide convening of more than 500 New Yorkers representing community groups, faith leaders and public safety experts sharing their perspectives on how New York can come together to fight the rising hate.

Israel's Operation Shield and Arrow: Is blowing stuff up a strategy?

MILITARY AFFAIRS: So far there are no signs that the IDF’s masterful tactical wins against Islamic Jihad will yield any extended period of quiet.

Several times in the last 17 years Israel has fought wars where it “won” tactically, but achieved little or nothing in the longer-term strategic picture.

Some of that comes from using the same playbook of blowing things or people up. If Israel uses the same playbook as in the past, why should it expect a different result?

In significant conflicts (where usually hundreds or more rockets were fired on Israel in a short period) with Hezbollah and Hamas, and more recently in multiple run-ins with Islamic Jihad, in 2006, 2008-9, 2012, 2014, November 2018, May 2019, November 2019, February 2020, May 2021, August 2022, every time the IDF killed far more “top commanders” and fighters on the other side than were killed on the Israeli side.

However, each time, the IDF’s tactical dominance failed to prevent the other side from firing rockets extensively throughout the civilian home front, both in volume and in reaching larger cities beyond the Gaza corridor.

Why can't Israel deter Gazan terrorist groups from firing rockets?

The IDF and many commentators have felt it achieved a strategic win by keeping Hamas out of this latest round of fighting.

And from the perspective of preventing this specific round from needlessly and arbitrarily deteriorating into a longer war like in 2014 or 2021, keeping Hamas out of the mix was in fact a wise and strategic win. It is also true that killing a terrorist group’s leader slows it down for some amount of time.

However, since November 2019, four of the last five conflicts with Gaza have been between Israel and Islamic Jihad, despite many rounds of killing that group’s leaders.

Certainly, Islamic Jihad can do far less damage to Israel than Hamas, but if Jerusalem has to fight Gaza’s weaker terrorist group four times in less than four years, including its big brother Hamas an additional time in May 2021, how much has Israel really accomplished?

After 2006 and 2014, top Israeli officials shifted mentally from telling the public that the IDF could achieve decisive “victory” to talking merely about “restoring deterrence.”

Back then, the idea was to fully deter any and all terrorist groups in Gaza. Now Israel cannot even deter Islamic Jihad, the weaker group, for more than a year or so at a time.

And is Hamas really deterred? Or, if it is facilitating Islamic Jihad fighting Israel, is it merely using other means to fight against Jerusalem, while avoiding the full blowback it would get if it were fully engaged?

Some observers are also saying that Hamas is just playing for time to build a more powerful rocket arsenal so that when it does decide to join another round with Israel, it will be able to hurt the home front far more.

So the Jewish state could easily come out of this conflict having “won” just like in August 2022 and some of the other recent rounds, but with no real ability to deter Islamic Jihad from another round in the near future.

Some people say that democracy dies in darkness.

But it can die in the full light of day, too.

Especially if people are prevented from seeing what’s in front of them.

This week, two bombshell events happened.

On the Republican side, the candidate still most favored by the party’s base to be its nominee for the presidency lost a civil case against writer E. Jean Carroll.

A New York jury found that Donald Trump had sexually abused and defamed the woman and ordered him to pay $5 million in damages.

You may have heard about this.

After all, the story was splashed on the front page of The Post the next day.

It also led the news around the world.

Although Trump denies the charges, it will be up to American voters to decide what they think about this.

Is this the sort of thing they´ve already factored in with Donald Trump?

Or will they deem it yet another mark against him in a long list that anyone — of any political stripe — could now compile?

It’s up to the American public.

But the other political bombshell of the week had a different landing.

I listened to Wednesday morning´s report of the House Oversight Committee on the Biden family‘s business dealings with amazement.

It has been perfectly clear for some time that while Joe Biden was vice president, his son Hunter and brother James enriched themselves through various pay-to-play schemes.

But the House committee’s findings revealed far worse than even those familiar with the story had expected.

The range of foreign donors included a corrupt Romanian businessman who gave the Biden family over $1 million.

But more scandalous was the revelation that as many as nine members of the Biden family were benefiting from the money that came from this influence-peddling scheme.

New revelations included the claim that even one of Joe Biden´s grandchildren had received six-figure wire transfers from a foreign national.

Egypt ignored US requests to block Russian flights – media

Washington has been trying to fence in Russian military planes, but Al Sisi’s government isn’t playing ball, the Wall Street Journal reported

Egypt has ignored US requests that it close its airspace to Russian military flights, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday. This airspace is avital corridorbetween Russia and its military bases in Syria.

Multiple American officials asked Cairoin February and March to declare its skies off limits to Russian military aircraft, the newspaper reported, citing US and Egyptian officials. Egypt has not responded to these requests, and flights between Syria and Russia have reportedly continued unimpeded.

Asked by the Wall Street Journal, a US State Department official declined to “comment on private diplomatic conversations.”

Situated on Syria’sMediterranean coast, Khmeimim Air Baseis one of Russia’s most important military facilities in Syria. With Iraq, Jordan, and Türkiye blocking most Russian military flights since last year at the US’ request, Russian aircraft must now fly south over Azerbaijan and Iran, west over Saudi Arabia, and finally back north over Egypt before landing at Khmeimim.

Without permission to fly over Egypt, Russia would be forced to seek a new and far longer route over Africa to reach its forces in Syria by air. Meanwhile, Türkiye’s closure of the Bosphorus and Dardanelles straits to military vessels last year has complicated the movement of arms and equipment by sea.

American officials believe that Moscow is moving weapons from Syria to the battlefield in Ukraine, although this has not been confirmed or denied by the Russian side.

Discounting Ukraine, Egypt is the second-largest recipient of US military aid in the world, receiving about $1.3 billion a year from Washington. Despite only Israel receiving more direct military support from the US, Egyptian PresidentAbdel Fattah Al Sisi has not completely aligned his foreign policy with that of Washington.

Al Sisi hasdeployed troops in Libya andordered airstrikes against the US-recognized Government of National Accord, all while funding the opposing Libyan National Army, which was aided on the battlefield by Russian military contractors.

The Egyptian president has acordial relationshipwith Russian President Vladimir Putin, and the country has adopted a neutral stance on the conflict in Ukraine. According to recently leaked Pentagon documents, however, Al Sisi recently dropped a plan to supply arms to Russia and instead agreed to supply the US with artillery ammunition for Kiev’s forces. The decision was made following what the Washington Post termed “a diplomatic offensive from Washington.”

Hordes of illegal aliens are pouring over the US border after Title 42 expired on Friday at midnight.

Title 42, a Trump-era policy that forced migrants seeking asylum to remain in Mexico while their immigration case made it through the system, expired.

Armed federal agents blocked reporters trying to document illegal aliens being boarded onto buses at the El Paso, Texas border with Mexico early Friday morning.

The federal agents told reporters they were ‘protecting the privacy’ of the illegal alien invaders.

According to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), a migrant child died while in US custody just hours after Title 42 expired.

The Biden Regime is withholding details of the deceased child.

“The US Department of Health and Human Services is deeply saddened by this tragic loss and our heart goes out to the family, with whom we are in touch,” the HHS said, according to Fox News.

“As is standard practice for any situation involving the death of an unaccompanied child or a serious health outcome, HHS’ Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) Division of Health for Unaccompanied Children (DHUC) is reviewing all clinical details of this case, including all inpatient health care records. A medical examiner investigation is underway.”

Biden’s 2019 tweet attacking Trump came back to haunt him.

Fox News White House Correspondent Jacqui Heinrich said the Biden Regime initially ignored Fox’s question on the reported death.

Israeli authorities have been preventing foreign journalists from entering Gaza since the start of its offensive early on Tuesday, the Middle East Monitor reported.

In a press release, the Head of the Government Media Office (GMO) in Gaza, Salameh Maarouf, said that the “Israeli occupation has been closing Beit Hanoon Crossing and preventing foreign media crews from entering the strip to cover its offensive.”

Maarouf called on the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) and all other bodies concerned with the freedom of the press and freedom of speech to take practical measures against the Israeli occupation so that it lifts its restrictions on the entry of media crews.

He considered the Israeli ban on the entry of foreign media as a “violation of the freedom of journalists to practice their work, as well as a violation of their right to free movement.”

At the same time, Maarouf pointed out that the Israeli occupation bans foreign journalists from entering Gaza during every offensive it carries out against the besieged coastal enclave.

Maarouf stressed that the “silence of the international bodies concerned with media is the reason that encourages the Israeli occupation to repeat and continue its oppressive and suppressive violations.”

American billionaire GeorgeSoros has influenced many judgesat the European Court of Human Rights, former Russian president Dmitry Medvedev said on Friday. A former lawyer who is now deputy chairman of Russia's security council, Medvedev was speaking at the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum about the problems of the modern judiciary.

An independent investigation in 2020 revealed that22 out of 100 ECHR judgeswho served between 2009 and 2019had “strong ties” to Soros, whether through his Open Society Foundation or intermediary NGOs that received its funding.

“For many years, these judges literally ate out of his hand and, on direction from across the ocean, stamped biased court verdicts – which, by the way, have not been revised even after these corruption scandals,” said Medvedev.

Russia withdrew from all treatiesaccepting ECHR jurisdiction in September 2022, and the law declaring all of thecourt’s verdicts null and voidon its territory went into effect in March.

For all the talk of freedom and competition, Medvedev said, the West does what it wants while placing discriminatory prohibitions on others.International economic law has become “pure fiction,” as evidenced by the “lawless predatory measures” against Russian state, corporate and private property, and even the confiscation of diplomatic accounts.

Medvedev also addressed the International Criminal Court, which in March charged Russian President Vladimir Putin with “war crimes” for evacuating children threatened by Ukrainian shelling. He called the ICC’s warrant for Putin’s arrest a “casus belli,” a reason for war against any country that attempts to carry it out.

He also described theICC as a “political tool of warmongers” and a “worthy heir” to the ICTY, the ad-hoc war crimes tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, which he called an “ugly form of justice that brought nothing but disaster” and discredited international law.

“There is no reason to obey the decisions of legal structures that have completely discredited or outlived themselves,” Medvedev argued. “If judiciary institutions do not function, they will be replaced by others that do.”(that should be done in US systems)

If international conventions are not applied, and the court decisions recognized by countries are not implemented, then tube and rocket artillery take their place. And even hypersonic missiles.

Kari Lake brings new evidence in hearing as Maricopa County, Hobbs, Fontes seek to dismiss case

Kari Lake's legal team alleged that 58% of Maricopa County's 446 ballot tabulators failed logic and accuracy testing before Election Day.

As Kari Lake's legal team provided new evidence in its Arizona gubernatorial election challenge during a court hearing on Friday, counsel for defendants Gov. Katie Hobbs, D, Secretary of State Adrian Fontes, D, and Maricopa County election officials sought to dismiss the case.

Last Thursday, the Arizona Supreme Court ordered court proceedings to take place "forthwith" regarding Lake's claim that Maricopa County's violated its signature verification practices in last year's general election. The court granted one sanction but denied the attorneys' fees defendants had requested.

Lake, the Arizona GOP gubernatorial nominee, fell about 17,000 votes short in the 2022 election against then-Secretary of State Hobbs. She is suing Hobbs, the current Democratic governor, in addition to Fontes and Maricopa County election officials, requesting that the election results be invalidated or that she be declared the winner.

Lake's legal team filed a motion for relief from judgment on Tuesday for Count II, which was previously dismissed by both that trial court and the Arizona Supreme Court, concerning alleged illegal ballot-on-demand printer and tabulator configurations.

The filing alleges that on Oct. 11, 2022, Maricopa County falsely certified the 446 ballot tabulators used for Election Day, saying they passed logic and accuracy testing. In addition, Maricopa County allegedly "secretly tested all 446 vote center tabulators on October 14th, 17th, and 18th, and knew that 260 of the vote center tabulators would fail on Election Day," according to the motion.

Lake's legal counsel also alleged that Maricopa County Director of Elections Scott Jarrett gave false testimony during the trial in December regarding the ballot-on-demand printer failures that occurred on Election Day. Specifically, he said only three vote centers experienced issues with the printers and that it "was caused by temporary technicians changing printer settings in attempt to fix printer problems on Election Day," the filing said.

During the hearing on Friday, Lake's legal counsel cited a new declaration by Jarrett that Maricopa County submitted, saying that, after the certification of the ballot tabulators on Oct. 11, the county realized that they hadn't configured the ballot tabulators to reject provisional ballots. Sergey Naumenko, who is not under sanctions, is suing the UK for unlawful seizure

Russian property developer Sergey Naumenko has filed a High Court claim against the UK’s Department for Transport (DfT), seeking to free his £38 million ($47.8 million) superyacht ‘Phi,’ which was seized by the department last year as part of Western sanctions.Naumenko is not on the sanctions list and denies any links to the Russian government.

According to the document filed on May 10, the businessman wants the British authorities to release the vessel, which has been moored in London’s Canary Wharf since the end of 2021, and is seeking undisclosed damages.

The seizure of the vessel in March 2022 was announced by the transport secretary at the time, Grant Shapps, who posted a video on TikTok calling the owner “a friend of [Russian President Vladimir] Putin,” which Naumenko has denied. The ship’s captain reportedly told Bloomberg that Naumenko had “never met Putin.”

The 192-foot Phi features what the builders called an “infinite wine cellar,” as well as a fresh-water swimming pool.

A full hearing to decide the fate of the yacht will take place later in July.

Dozens of superyachts belonging to wealthy Russians have been confiscated across the world as part of Western sanctions. Last August, a$75-million superyacht linked to sanctioned Russian billionaire Dmitry Pumpyansky was auctioned off in Gibraltar. The luxury vessel was sold for the benefit of US investment bank JPMorgan Chase, which claimed that Pumpyansky owed it more than $20 million.

Thetotal valueof Russian superyachts seized by the West is estimated atmore than $4 billion, according to The Guardian.

Opposition leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu should be ashamed of himself for spreading such rumors, the Turkish leader declared

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has condemned rival Kemal Kilicdaroglu for claiming without evidence that Moscow is interfering in Türkiye’s upcoming elections. Erdogan claimed thatthe West, and not Russia, is “manipulating the elections in Türkiye.”

“[Kilicdaroglu said that] Russia is manipulating the elections in Türkiye. Shame on you!”Erdogan told a crowd of supporters in Istanbul on Friday.

In a Twitter post a day earlier, Kilicdaroglu accused the country’s “Russian friends” of being “behind the montages, conspiracies, deep fakes and tapes that were exposed in this country yesterday.”

“Get your hands off the Turkish state,”Kilicdaroglu warned the supposed Russian meddlers.

Kilicdaroglu was likely referring to the publication of a video showing another presidential candidate, Muharrem Ince, allegedly engaging in an extramarital affair. Ince dropped out of the race on Thursday, blaming followers of exiled cleric Fethullah Gulen, whose political movement Ankara claims orchestrated a failed coup in 2016.

There is zero evidence linking Russiawith the publication or production of the tape, and the Kremlin said that it “firmly rejects”Kilicdaroglu’s claims.

"If I say ‘America is manipulating the elections in Türkiye, Germany is manipulating it, France is manipulating it, England is manipulating it', what would you say?" Erdogan continued, addressing his remarks to Kilicdaroglu.

While Erdogan did not attempt to tie the leak of Ince’s sex tape with any of the Western countries he mentioned, his interior minister, Suleyman Soylu, did. “It is clear who produced it,” he told CNN Turk earlier on Friday. “The perpetrator is the Gulen movement and the US.”

Soylu claimed that “America has been interfering in this election from the very beginning,” and produced the tape to force Ince out of the race and move his voters to Kilicdaroglu.

Erdogan did, however, accuseWestern media outlets of trying to shift public opinion in Türkiye against him. (The West went after and is going after any leaders that refused to condemn and sanction Russia. They are still trying to do the same in Hungary. Each attack by the West has a “color revolution” included)

Türkiye’s presidential and parliamentary elections will take place on Sunday. Recent polling shows Erdogan – a social conservative who steered his country away from integration with the EU – and Kilicdaroglu – a centrist who favors realignment with the West – within single digits of each other.

A prestigious Jesuit university, which receives millions in funding from the Islamic regimes of Saudi Arabia and Qatar, has built what it calls "the first-of-its-kind mosque" on an American college campus.

Georgetown University, which promotes itself as the oldest Catholic Jesuit university in the United States, says it erected the mosque to continue its mission of finding "new ways to foster its values of interreligious understanding and cura personalis."

"We're trying to form students to be people for others," says Fr. Mark Bosco, SJ, vice president for Mission & Ministry. "And in doing that, it means we need to embrace interreligious dialogue."

"Coming to these different places, being invited by another student to come to the masjid, for example, whether you're Muslim or not, invites us to explore the richness of Georgetown's heritage and its deep commitment to our faith traditions," the Jesuit noted.

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - In an effort to enforce the laws as written, Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey and 12 other states moved for emergency relief from the Biden Administration’s unlawful attempt to further open the southern border. This week, not only did President Biden allow Title 42 to expire, but he followed up with a new program to release potentially thousands of illegal immigrants into the United States each day. Attorney General Bailey’s motion seeks a court order to force the Biden Administration not to implement this illegal program. He filed the motion in his existing lawsuit against the Department of Homeland Security (“DHS”) for the Biden Administration’s refusal to secure the southern border.

“As Attorney General, I will enforce the laws as written, which includes ensuring that the Biden Administration cannot create unlawful immigration programs without the express permission of Congress,” said Attorney General Bailey. “President Biden’s immigration policy is so egregious that we can’t even finish one lawsuit before needing to amend it to address something else. The Constitution is clear: the President is tasked with securing our border. I am working to force President Biden to do so.”

The attorneys general assert that the latest action by the Biden Administration unlawfully exceeds its authority, referring to "a new program granting en masse parole into the United States to illegal aliens arriving at the Southwest Border, again without the case-by-case showing of individualized urgent humanitarian reasons or significant public benefit required by Congress. More, these illegal aliens will not even have removal proceedings begun against them through the issuance of a Notice to Appear at an immigration-court setting. Rather, they are released into the United States after giving a mailing address and a promise to either appear at an Immigrations and Customs Enforcement facility within 60 days to request a Notice to Appear or to request one by mail.”

The attorneys general argue that the plan laid out by the federal government in a memo on May 10 would irreparably harm the states, “flooding them with yet more illegal aliens to add to the educational expenses, unemployment benefits, costs of incarceration, emergency Medicaid, and other costs they already bear as the result of Defendants’ [Joe Biden’s] unlawful releases.”

The states ask the Court for the chance to amend their original complaint to reflect the federal government’s latest irresponsible handling of the southern border. They also ask for an order stopping the Biden Administration from opening the border.

General Bailey’s lawsuit also addresses DHS’ program that would establish a new visa system that would allow for up to 360,000 aliens from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela to be “paroled” into the United States every year. Parole allows noncitizens to physically enter and remain in the United States even though they do not have a legal basis for being admitted.

Although Congress authorized a limited parole power for foreign aliens who meet very specific and stringent standards, the Biden Administration’s new program does not meet these standards. Even worse, contrary to existing law, the program creates a pathway for program participants to apply from their home country and gain lawful status to enter and stay in the U.S. for up to two years, or even longer.

The Biden Administration instituted this program without engaging in the usual notice and comment rulemaking process required by law. This program is another instance of the Biden Administration abusing its executive authority to further its dangerous open borders agenda at the expense of the states and their taxpayers.

The matter is set for trial on June 15.

Documents Reveal Homeland Security Listed Pro-Life Moms as “Radicalization Suspects” – With Examples

The record of the Department of Homeland Security’s attacks on Americans of faith, particularly Catholics, is long and disturbing.

The Gateway Pundit’s Cristina Laila reported on Chris Wray’s FBI memo warning agents of the dangerous ‘radical traditionalist Catholic ideology’ gaining popularity in the country. The memo was posted at UncoverDC.com by former FBI special agent Kyle Seraphin.

As TGP reported in April, the FBI is also infiltrating Catholic parishes and engaging in outreach to Catholic leaders to spy on Americans practicing their Christian faith.

Now, America First Legal has obtained documents showing DHS using a pro-life mother as an example of a potential “radicalization suspect.” The violence prevention training guide is dated just days after Joe Biden took office.

The “radical” pro-life mom’s profile reads, “This is Ann, a resident of Elkville in rural America. Ann has always been religious but since the death of her mother, she’s become increasingly devout. She’s a regular in the small-town community, active in several church groups. While she has always been protective of her four kids, she has become increasingly more concerned about the welfare of other children including the unborn.”

Agents are then guided on ways to address this radical behavior when Ann questions whether “the bible justifies violence in defense of life” during a prayer group meeting and calls the mayor of her small town a “baby killer” at a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Another scenario raises the question of whether a hairdresser, who Ann has shared her pro-life views with, should research pro-life groups or contact the sheriff to learn about when such behavior could become a problem.

The New York Post reports:

Reed Rubinstein, America First Legal senior counselor and director of investigations, said in a statement that DHS “is out of control.”

“The Department of Homeland Security’s transformation into a domestic intelligence organization and a Stasi-like Deep State internal security apparatus is alarming,” he said.

“It is a very long way from ‘see something, say something’ regarding an unattended suitcase at the airport to profiling patriotic and politically conservative Americans as abusive parents and domestic terrorists because they oppose abortion on demand and voted for former President Trump.”

Saturn reclaims 'moon king' title with 62 newfound satellites, bringing total to 145

Astronomers have discovered 62 new moons orbiting the ringed planet Saturn.

The satellite haul brings the planet's total number of moons to over 100 and also means the gas giant takes back the crown as the solar system's "moon king" from Jupiter.

Prior to this discovery, Saturn had 83 moons recognized by the International Astronomical Union(opens in new tab), so the new batch brings the total number to an incredible 145. The discovery marks another milestone for Saturn, with the planet becoming the first world in the cosmos known to be orbited by more than 100 moons.

The new moons were discovered by a team led by Edward Ashton, a postdoctoral fellow at the Academia Sinica Institute of Astronomy and Astrophysics, who used a technique called "shift and stack" to find these smaller and fainter moons around Saturn.

The technique uses a set of images shifting at the same speed at which a moon moves through the sky to enhance the signal from that moon. Moons that are too faint to be seen in single images can reveal themselves in the resultant "stacked image."

Astronomers have used this method to search for moons around the ice giants Neptune and Uranus, but this is the first time it has been applied to the solar system's second-largest planet, Saturn.

The data used by the team was collected between 2019 and 2021 in three-hour spans by the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope (CFHT) on top of Maunakea in Hawaii. It allowed the astronomers to detect moons around Saturn as small as 1.6 miles (2.5 kilometers) in diameter. That's about two-thirds the length of Hollywood's Walk of Fame.

Though some of the moons had been spotted as early as 2019, it takes more than sighting an object close to a planet to confirm it is a moon and not an asteroid making a brief close passage to that planet. To change these objects from "suspected moons" to "confirmed moons" of Saturn, the astronomers had to track them for several years to ensure each is actually orbiting the gas giant.

Performing a painstaking process of matching objects detected on different nights over the course of 24 months, the team tracked 63 objects that they ended up confirming as moons. One of these satellites was revealed back in 2021, with the remaining 62 moons gradually announced over the past few weeks.

"Tracking these moons makes me recall playing the kid's game Dot-to-Dot, because we have to connect the various appearances of these moons in our data with a viable orbit," Ashton said in a statement(opens in new tab). "But with about 100 different games on the same page, and you don't know which dot belongs to which puzzle."

Saturn's irregular moons may have a violent history

The newly discovered moons of Saturn are classified as "irregular moons." This term refers to objects that are believed to have been captured by a planet's gravitational influence and end up orbiting it on large, flattened or "elliptical" paths that are more inclined in comparison to the orbits of regular moons.

Saturn now has 121 known irregular moons along with its 24 regular moons. Irregular moons like these new ones tend to bunch up in groupings depending on the tilt of their orbits. Saturn's system currently hosts three of these groupings — the Inuit group, the Gallic group and the densely populated Norse group, all of which take their names from different mythologies.

All of the newfound moons of Saturn fall into one of these three currently existing groupings. Three of the new moons belong to the Inuit group, but the majority fit in the Norse group.

The moons in these three groups are believed to have been created when larger moons around Saturn originally captured by the gas giant slammed together and fragmented. Investigating the orbits of Saturn's irregular moons could help astronomers better understand the history of such collisions in the gas giant system.

The team behind the new discovery thinks that the large number of tiny moons in a retrograde orbit around Saturn (that is, opposite in direction to the planet's orbit) is evidence of a collision between irregular moons around the gas giant as recently as 100 million years ago. This collision is believed to have created the moons in the Norse group.

"As one pushes to the limit of modern telescopes, we are finding increasing evidence that a moderate-sized moon orbiting backward around Saturn was blown apart something like 100 million years ago," team member and University of British Columbia astronomer Brett Gladman said in the same statement.

Jupiter leap-frogged Saturn for the moon crown in February 2023 when 12 new moons were found around the solar system's largest planet, bringing the total number of known Jovian moons to 92.

Joe Biden is headed to his Rehoboth Beach compound for the weekend as the border crisis explodes.

Title 42 expired Friday at midnight and a migrant child has already died in US custody.

The border crisis is out of control and Joe Biden doesn’t have a care in the world.

He will be spending the weekend in the Northeast far, far away from the US-Mexico border.

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean Pierre on Friday announced Joe Biden will be delivering a commencement speech at Howard University on Saturday morning.

“The president will then travel to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, where he and the first lady will remain over the weekend,” Karine Jean-Pierre said.

Meanwhile the Department of Homeland Security is forcing officers to work all weekend to deal with the influx of illegal aliens.

President Joe Biden will spend the weekend at his beach home in Rehoboth, Delaware after forcing asylum officers along the souther border to work both weekend days to deal with the migrant surge following the end of the Title 42 public health order.

The announcement comes after the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is forcing asylum officers to work through the weekend in an effort to deal with the surge of migrants at the southern border seeking to claim asylum in the U.S., Fox News Digital learned exclusively on Friday.

A DHS memo sent Friday morning by the associate director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Refugee, Asylum and International Operations (RAIO) and seen by Fox News Digital says that employees had been informed Thursday of the need for them to work at least one day this weekend — and now the agency is going a step further.

“Developments emerging over the course of the day made clear that more resources are needed, and we must take immediate steps to increase the number of staff available on both Saturday and Sunday to meet the need,” it says.

“In order to ensure full operational readiness, I must now ask that all Asylum Division employees, with limited exception, work both Saturday and Sunday this weekend,” Associate Director Ted Kim says.

Soros-funded DA Alvin Bragg announced in April he was upending the law and charging President Trump with 34 felonies in a “catch and kill” scheme. This is also called a non-disclosure agreement. It occurs when two parties agree to not discuss publicly a certain issue. It often includes a payment to one of the parties.

This is all Alvin Bragg has on Trump. The New York DA is now counting on a jury of local communists to find Trump guilty. This shouldn’t be too hard in New York City. For the record, this case has been tossed from every other court that tried to bring charges against Trump.

This statement was rich – considering the skyrocketing crime in New York City. Bragg is making up felonies as he is ignoring felonies.

What a sideshow.

Following the indictment,

Jim Jordan subpoenaed former Manhattan DA prosecutor and Hillary Clinton lawyer, Mark Pomerantz for a deposition.

Mark Pomerantz, a former senior prosecutor on the Manhattan DA’s team investigating Trump resigned in protest after District Attorney Alvin Bragg ended the investigation.

He then went on to write a book on the topic. In the book, he claims the investigation “developed evidence convincing us that Donald Trump had committed serious crimes.” Pomerantz resigned early last year after Bragg, just weeks into his first term in office, decided not to seek an indictment of Trump at that time.

Bragg failed in his lawsuit and Mark Pomerantz sat before Congress on Friday where he repeatedly pleaded the fifth and refused to answer questions regarding the case.

Mark Pomerantz, a former prosecutor in Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office, refused to answer any questions relevant to former President Donald Trump’s indictment during much of a deposition before Congress on Friday.

Pomerantz warned in an opening statement he would do as much, according to a copy of the opening statement leaked to CNN and other legacy media outlets.

“It gives me no joy to invoke my legal rights, but I am glad that the law allows me not to cooperate with this performance of political theater,” Pomerantz said, per his statement.

The deposition ran for roughly five hours.

It should be clear at this point that Democrats have identified no criminal actions by President Trump. All they have is raw hatred of the popular populist president who shook up the country and make America great again.

Moscow has said itreserves the right to take any measures deemed necessary to “neutralize a threat” posed by the British-made weapons

London’s decision to supply Kiev with long-range cruise missiles isanother step towards a “serious escalation” of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Friday. The ministry branded the move as “a very unfriendly step” on the UK’s part, which proves London’s “unprecedented level of involvement” in the conflict.

“Carried away with geopolitical games… the UK is apparently ready to cross any red lines and bring the conflict towards a totally new level when it comes to destruction and casualties,” the ministry’s statement read.

Russia “reserves the right to take any measures deemed necessary to neutralize a threat that may arise from Ukraine’s use of the British cruise missiles,” the ministry said, adding thatthose behind this “reckless step”and London’s “destructive activities” in general would be to blame for the consequences.

On Thursday, the UK confirmed it was handing several of its Storm Shadow cruise missiles over to Ukraine. The weapons can hit targets over 250km (155 miles) away. British Defence Secretary Ben Wallace claimed it was a “calibrated and proportionate response” by London to the situation in Ukraine.

Washington then indicated on Friday that it was reluctant to follow London’s example. The US has long refused to provide Kiev with longer-range weapons like the ATACMS missiles. In March, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley said it was not an option since the move would dwindle the Pentagon’s own stocks.

Some Western officials have reportedly suggested that giving Ukraine the option to attack targets inside Russian territory, which is recognized as such by the US and its allies, would be a major escalation of the conflict.

Kiev has long asked for such longer-range weapons. President Vladimir Zelensky’s top adviser,Mikhail Podoliak, said this week that longer-range missiles could be used to strike Crimea, which Kiev considers an illegally occupied territory. The peninsula joined Russia back in 2014 following a referendum.

Moscow has repeatedly warned Western nations that continued weapons deliveries to Ukraine make them de facto participants of the conflict – something many of them have vehemently denied.

On Thursday, theKremlin vowed to have an “appropriate answer” to the deliveries of the British missiles.
