Elon Musk is ramping up the fight against bots on X as a way to stop 'manipulation on the free-speech platform.' X will begin charging new users in New Zealand and the Philippines $1 per year to post or interact with other users on the platform, a move Musk says "will be 1000X harder to manipulate the platform."

X account "Support" provided more details of the subscription called "Not A Bot" program:

Starting today, we're testing a new program (Not A Bot) in New Zealand and the Philippines. New, unverified accounts will be required to sign up for a $1 annual subscription to be able to post & interact with other posts. Within this test, existing users are not affected.

This new test was developed to bolster our already successful efforts to reduce spam, manipulation of our platform and bot activity, while balancing platform accessibility with the small fee amount. It is not a profit driver.

And so far, subscription options have proven to be the main solution that works at scale.

On X's website, in the Help Center section, additional details revealed new accounts that want posting privileges in those two countries must complete a two-step verification process:

Step One: Phone Verification

New accounts created on X, in these two countries, will first be required to verify their phone number.

Step Two: Select Your Subscription Plan

$1 USD Annual Fee (prices vary by country and currency). New users will be able to perform certain actions on the web version of the platform: post content, Like posts, Reply, Repost and Quote other accounts' posts, Bookmark posts.

"This will evaluate a potentially powerful measure to help us combat bots and spammers on X, while balancing platform accessibility with the small fee amount. Within this test, existing users are not affected," X Support said.

X nor Musk explained why the new program is being rolled out in the two countries. It could be X has realized these countries have the highest amount of fake accounts.

Not A Bot is in addition to X's subscription of $8 per month. And there is no word if X plans on expanding the new charge to other countries.

During a recent live-streamed chat with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Musk floated the idea of charging users on the X, noting, "It's the only way I can think of to combat vast armies of bots."

A Democratic lawmaker in New York City has submitted a bill to the New York State Assembly requiring anyone to undergo a criminal history background check with the government before purchasing a 3D printer.

Sponsored by Democratic Assemblymember Jenifer Rajkumar, representing Queens neighborhoods of Glendale, Ozone Park, Richmond Hill, Ridgewood, and Woodhaven, bill A8132 would expand background checks for any "three-dimensional printer sold in this state, which is capable of printing a firearm or any components of a firearm." This means any store selling 3D printers must conduct a background check on customers.

According to the bill's text, the commissioner of criminal justice services will ensure the customer does not have a felony or serious offense or outstanding warrant of arrest that would force state officials to deny the purchase of the 3D printer. The vetting process could take upwards of 15 days.

The bill is designed by Democrats who continue to wage war on the Second Amendment and say the proliferation of violent crime across major metro areas, such as NYC, is directly linked to guns. But these ignorant lawmakers fail to mention the latest surge in violent crime is due to failed progressive policies, such as 'defunding the police' and open southern borders.

"In their craze to eliminate the Second Amendment, there appears to be no limit to what gun control—or in this case 3D printer control—New York state politicians will consider. The New York state legislature just needs to accept that the Bill of Rights protects the right to keep and bear arms from the tyranny they so badly want to enact," Aidan Johnston, Director of Federal Affairs, Gun Owners of America, told us.

Bill A8132 remains in the committee stage and may not even reach a floor vote, much less be enacted into law. However, if passed, the days of walking into a Midtown Manhattan Best Buy and purchasing a 3D printer in minutes would be over.

Yet this is more incompetence from Democrats who have no limit to what gun control is and will stop at nothing to ban firearms from law-abiding citizens. Remember, last month, the New Mexico governor tried to suspend the right to carry guns in public under an emergency health order.

Furthermore, progressives have transformed NYC, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Portland, Baltimore, Detroit, and many other metro areas into crime-ridden hellholes. Still, these rogue politicians that cater to a 'fringe' minority instead of the majority wage war on law-abiding citizens while only emboldening criminals.

EL PASO, Texas (Border Report) – An El Paso woman is facing criminal charges after allegedly trying to drive a stolen SUV and drugs into the United States from Mexico.

Border officers arrested Samantha Nicole Flores on Monday morning at the Paso del Norte port of entry as she returned from Juarez, Mexico. A U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer who checked the vehicle identification number (VIN) on the 2008 Ford Explorer with paper license plates that Flores was driving found a stolen vehicle report associated with the SUV. The officer sent Flores to a secondary inspection area.

Court records show a different CBP officer searched the car and Flores’ purse, finding several bags with a crystal-like substance. Flores initially told officers she borrowed the Explorer from a friend and didn’t know about the substance in her purse.

Homeland Security Investigations agents who later questioned Flores got a different response. Court records show the woman told HSI investigators her Chevrolet Cadillac had been recently stolen in Juarez, and that the night before her arrest she had gone to Mexico to file a police report.

Flores allegedly told agents that she and a friend met in Juarez with people claiming to have her Cadillac; they offered to sell it back to her for 50,000 pesos, or $2,770. She told them she didn’t have the money, so her friend took her to another person who offered her “work,” according to court documents.

The man allegedly took her purse and left, then came back and told her it was inside a Ford Explorer she was to drive into El Paso, documents show. Flores told investigators she asked the man if he had placed something inside her purse, and he told her, “The less you know, the better.” The bag had more than half a pound of crystal methamphetamines, documents show.

Whether or not the agents believed her, federal officials on Tuesday filed charges of importation of a controlled substance and possessing a controlled substance with intent to distribute against Flores. The case resides in the court of U.S. Magistrate Judge Miguel A. Torres.
