Durham Report
In 1838, the British politician Lord Durham was sent to British North America to investigate the causes of the rebellions of 1837–38 in the colonies of Upper and Lower Canada. Durham's famous Report on the Affairs of British North America (1839) led to a series of reforms and changes. These included uniting the two Canadas into a single colony, the Province of Canada, in 1841. (See also: Act of Union.) The report also paved the way for responsible government. This was a critical step in the development of Canadian democracy. The report played an important role in the evolution of Canada’s political independence from Britain.

A Reformer’s Progressive Ideas
John George Lambton, the Earl of Durham, was a British political reformer. (His nickname was “Radical Jack.”) He was appointed governor general	of British North America by the imperial Prime Minister, Lord Melbourne. Durham was asked to investigate colonial grievances after the rebellions of 1837–38 in Upper and Lower Canada. ( See also: Rebellion in Lower Canada; Rebellion in Upper Canada.) He arrived in Canada in May 1838. However, he had a dispute with the government in London and resigned his appointment four months later. He returned to Britain. In 1839, he completed his Report on the Affairs of British North America.
The report was controversial. Its recommendations were progressive for their time. Durham proposed the creation of municipal governments and a supreme court	in the British North American colonies. He also wanted to resolve the land question in Prince Edward Island. His long-held plan for the union of all BNA colonies was dropped because Nova Scotia and New Brunswick	were uninterested. (It took three more decades before Durham’s vision of a BNA union was achieved through Confederation.)
Durham’s report made two main recommendations. It called for the unification of Upper and Lower Canada and the introduction of responsible government. The British Parliament implemented the first point but not the second.

More than 150 loads of beef are stuck at the border at Coutts, Alberta, the Canadian Meat Council said Monday. A blockade of vehicles has been slowing traffic at the crossing between Alberta and Montana since the weekend in a protest against rules that require truckers crossing the border to be fully vaccinated.
“It is not yet clear what the provincial or federal government is doing to facilitate a resolution. The longer this takes, it will cause more supply chain issues and this will affect everyone from producer to consumer,” Marie-France MacKinnon, a spokesperson for the council, said by email.
The vaccine mandate for truckers has sparked concerns about delivery problems and higher freight costs at a time when the supply chain is already under strain from weather disruptions and a lack of available workers. Canadian trucking groups have estimated as many as 90% of truckers are vaccinated, but in the U.S., only about half of truckers are vaccinated.

Half of America Already Wants Joe Biden Impeached.
A national survey of likely US voters has found that 50 percent support impeaching Joe Biden after just one year in office.
The Rasmussen Report sponsored by The National Pulse was conducted in January, and asked a collective of likely US voters whether they would side with Republicans in Congress who have endorsed articles of impeachment against the current U.S. President. Fifty percent of respondents stated they somewhat or strongly support impeaching Biden, with the remainder of respondents either stating they were unsure or that they oppose impeaching the current president.
When broken down by demographic, men and women were equal in their response to support an impeachment of Biden. Those aged 40-65+ had a slightly stronger support than those aged 18-39.
All racial demographics were united in their response. Almost 50 percent of White respondents agreed with impeaching Biden, 50 percent of Black respondents, and more than 50 percent of other racial minorities are in favor of impeachment.
Republicans led the charge, with 74 percent supporting Biden’s impeachment, with Democrats and liberal respondents also feeling split 50-50 over impeachment.
When broken down by employment, more than half of respondents working for the government supported impeaching Biden. Similarly, entrepreneurs, those working for private companies, retired, and individuals in all other employment types agreed that Biden should be impeached in the Republicans win a majority in the House of Representatives in the 2022 midterm elections.
Following this, respondents were asked how likely they felt impeachment would be should Republicans win back the House. Over 50 percent of both Republicans and Democrats felt it was very likely that Biden would be impeached.
The main reasons for favoring impeachment of Biden came from his failed immigration policy and his failed exit from Afghanistan.
The poll also asked whether the two impeachments of President Donald Trump were a good thing, a bad thing, or that they did not make much difference. Only 36 percent of respondents said the impeachment was a “good” thing, with 47 percent arguing that it was a bad move.
Sixteen percent stated they did not think the impeachment made much of a difference. However, Trump’s approval ratings rose 18 percentage points after the partisan impeachment of his presidency.

‘Red-Handed’: 23 Former U.S. Senators and Congressmen Who Lobby for Chinese Military or Chinese Intelligence-Linked Companies
Breitbart News senior contributor and Government Accountability Institute (GAI) President Peter Schweizer’s latest investigative exposé, Red-Handed: How American Elites Get Rich Helping China Win, reveals how 23 former U.S. senators and congressman have lobbied for Chinese military or intelligence-linked companies after leaving office.
Many lawmakers cash in after leaving office by becoming lobbyists for corporations and other special interests. But one would hope that they would not become advocates for America’s primary economic and political adversary — communist China — by lobbying for outcomes that run counter to the United States’ long-term interests.
However, Schweizer’s book reveals that many former congressional leaders, committee chairman, and rank-and-file members are lobbying for Chinese intelligence and military-linked companies.
The following 23 former members of Congress — the majority of whom are Republicans — have lobbied for Chinese military or intelligence-linked companies.
Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-OH)
Boehner’s advocacy for China began right as he became Speaker of the House and Republicans gained a historic majority.
In 2011, Congress was in the midst of passing a currency manipulation bill, the Currency Exchange Oversight Reform Act, to hold China accountable for keeping its currency artificially low, thus making it easier to boost its exports.
China subsequently hired Squire Patton Boggs (SPB), one of D.C.’s most influential law firms, for $35,000 per month to block the bill.
SPB registered as a foreign agent of the Chinese embassy in Washington, DC, after decades of close ties to the Chinese government.
The Chinese currency manipulation bill sailed through the Senate with a 63-35 vote, featuring strong bipartisan support.
However, Boehner would not allow the bill to come to the House floor for a vote even though half of the House Republican Conference and an “overwhelming” number of Democrats supported the bill.
“It’s a pretty dangerous thing to be moving legislation through the U.S. Congress forcing someone to deal with the value of a currency,” Boehner said.
He even argued that the bill would lead to a trade war.
Schweizer said it “should be no surprise” that when Boehner retired from public office in 2015, he joined SPB as a “strategic adviser” to American and foreign clients.
SPB advised and helped Beijing navigate “issues that will threaten their interests,” according to Schweizer. This includes guidances on the defense appropriations process, the 2020 general elections, and American policy on Hong Kong, Taiwan, Xinjiang, human rights, immigration, trade, and sanctions legislation.

Sen. William Cohen (R-ME)
After Cohen served in the Senate, he became the secretary of Defense during the Bill Clinton administration.
He established the Cohen Group in 2001 after leaving the Department of Defense (DOD). The Cohen Group has touted its deep ties to the Chinese government, including Cohen’s first visit to China as a congressman in 1978 when he met Chinese Communist Leader Deng Xiaoping.
“[Cohen] has been a constant presence in the U.S.-China relationship, including commercial development and security cooperation,” according to the Cohen Group’s website.
The Cohen Group also extends its consulting for Chinese state-owned enterprises, which Schweizer says are “often used as tools of the Chinese state.”
The former Defense secretary also served as the vice chairman of the U.S. China-Business Council, a lobbying group for American companies to do business in China.
When the federal government deemed Huawei a security threat because of its close ties to the Chinese intelligence apparatus, the company hired the Cohen Group to negotiate with the U.S. director of national intelligence to find a way to sell its hardware in the United States.
Conclusion
In Red-Handed: How American Elites Get Rich Helping China Win, Schweizer calls for a ban on lobbying on behalf of Chinese military and intelligence-linked companies.
He writes that although “not all lobbying is bad,” that right does not extend to lobbying linked to the Chinese military-intelligence apparatus.
“Too many former politicians are making bundles of money representing these interests in the corridors of Washington power,” Schweizer charged.

Another resignation in CA
Assemblymember Autumn Burke will resign immediately and not seek another term, extending a period of extraordinary turnover in the California Assembly.
The Marina Del Rey Democrat was not at serious risk of losing re-election in November and was eligible to serve through 2026. But she decided to leave the Legislature effective Tuesday rather than serve out the rest of her term.
"I feel it is of the utmost importance that I have the flexibility to spend more time with my family," Burke wrote in a letter to constituents. "After 7 years serving as your Assemblymember, my hope was to finish out my term, but circumstances have recently changed."
The impact: Burke was aligned with a group of centrist Democrats who tend to be friendlier to business interests than more-liberal Democrats. She is also an ally of Assemblymember Evan Low (D-Campbell), who has unsuccessfully sought to build support to become the next speaker of the Assembly.
Her departure means a new lawmaker will take over the Assembly Revenue and Taxation Committee, which Burke currently chairs.
The bigger picture: Burke becomes the 21st Assembly incumbent since the start of this legislative session to move on or declare they will not seek another term. The confluence of term limits and redistricting have unleashed a period of profound flux.

Operatives for the Mossad, the Israeli intelligence agency, set up a laptop kiosk at a shopping mall near a U.S. Army base to sell laptops rigged with spyware to U.S. military servicemembers, a former Army intelligence analyst tells Big League Politics. And he said the U.S. military found out about it but kept it quiet.
“In early 2012 I did my basic training at Fort Jackson, SC. After finishing Basic Combat Training (BCT) I was sent to Fort Huachuca, AZ to begin training as an intelligence analyst (35F at the time),” our whistleblower Cody R. told Big League Politics.
“Every Army base has a town next to it, this one is called Sierra Vista and it has a crappy little mall. Well after enough time in training you’re allowed to leave the base during the weekend as long as your back for evening and Sunday counts. Lots of soldiers hang out at the mall. All malls have those little kiosks that sell sunglasses and cheap jewelry and stuff,” our whistleblower said.
“Well at some point a laptop kiosk became a thing at the Sierra Vista mall. These laptops were the real expensive for the time. Somewhere between $800 and $1700. These laptops were however being sold at “deals” to service members for hundreds of dollars less the retail value. (It’s pretty easy to pick out service members, the hair, glasses, tan lines on wrists and age),” our whistleblower said.
“Well at some point it became knowledge on base about these laptops and that set off some bells and whistles in senior leadership. CID was dispatched to investigate. What did they find? These computer kiosk salesmen were Mossad Operatives and the laptops had software and hardware installed to spy. You could reinstall the software but the chips hardwired reinstalled and still gave them access to the keyboard, microphone, webcam and screen. Think about it, soldiers often take their laptops on deployment and OPSEC is often preached but isn’t always followed. There is the Israel I know,” our whistleblower stated.
Cody R., former Army intelligence analyst who served in Afghanistan, vowed to put his hand on the Bible and swear to the following story about how the “Israeli government has a mistrust in everyone, including its allies.” He said, “I was in the Intelligence field for several years. It’s a very delicate and difficult business.”

Soldiers left elderly Palestinian American to die in ‘ethical failure’ — IDF probe
Army says troops abandoned the unconscious 78-year-old Omar As’ad at a construction site after zip-tying his hands together and gagging him at an impromptu checkpoint
Two Israeli military officers will be removed from their positions immediately and a third will be formally censured over the death of a 78-year-old Palestinian American man, who suffered a heart attack after he was bound, gagged and abandoned in a half-constructed building by Israeli troops earlier this month, the Israel Defense Forces said Monday night.
The punishments against the commanders are the result of an internal disciplinary probe. A Military Police investigation into the case is ongoing, which will determine if charges will be filed against the soldiers involved.
According to the internal investigation, which was presented to IDF Chief of Staff Aviv Kohavi on Monday, a group of soldiers from the Netzah Yehuda Battalion, which operates solely in the West Bank and has been long-plagued by allegations of brutality and abuse against Palestinians, on January 12 set up a checkpoint outside the central West Bank village of Jiljilya, stopping cars and checking the identification documents of people inside.
One of those to pass through the checkpoint was Omar As’ad, 78. According to the soldiers, As’ad refused to identify himself when asked, so they bound his hands with zipties and moved him to the courtyard of a nearby abandoned building in the near-freezing January night. In order to prevent him from calling out and telling others about the checkpoint, the soldiers also gagged him, tying a strip of fabric over his mouth, the probe found.
Three other Palestinians were brought to the same building. When the soldiers decided to pack up the checkpoint roughly half an hour later, they untied the four Palestinians and let them go, according to the investigation.

"Ron Perelman is starting off the New Year a bit simpler.
The banker and Revlon boss, once worth nearly $20 billion, just unloaded his longtime oceanfront Hamptons estate for a whopping $84.5 million, according to Dirt. (The buyer was listed anonymously under 153 LPL LLC, according to property docs seen by The Post.)
The move comes as Revlon struggles with a mounting $3 billion in debt.
Perelman, 79, first listed the home back in June for $115 million.
While walking away with $30 million less than the initial asking price, the owner of the MacAndrews & Forbes Incorporated holding company is still making a sizable profit.
Perelman initially purchased the nine-acre, 10-bedroom, 15-bathroom estate on 153 Lily Pond Lane for $4.25 million back in 1986. But he hasn’t actually occupied the home in years."
A 1971 teardown, the residence features 385 feet of oceanfront views and spans more than 11,400 square feet.
Amenities include a pool and a tennis court with its own pavilion.
The East Hampton home is just one of two homes in Long Island owned by Perelman.
He still owns the Creeks — a 57-acre estate situated on Georgica Pond — which he is currently shopping around for a whopping $180 million, The Post previously reported.

Russian Army Disrupts GPS Systems In Israeli Airspace
ISRAEL - The Russian army is reportedly disrupting GPS signals with electromagnetic waves in Latakia as well as Ben Gurion Airport, the main airport in Israel according to KAAN news. (This report is based on a translation of the KAAN article originally published in Hebrew).
KAAN news says that in the last few weeks airline pilots have been dealing with a phenomenon that has reoccurred after a '3 year hiatus' where severe GPS disruptions are occurring in aircraft that are preparing to land at the Ben Gurion airport.
The disruptions are reportedly due to the effects of powerful and advanced defense systems of the Russian army that disrupt the electromagnetic waves in the eastern Mediterranean and also disrupts aircraft landing in Israeli airspace.
Israel has demanded that Russia halt the disruptions and said that the 'defensive systems' are harming it, but the Russians have refused saying that the systems are a defensive action to protect their soldiers.
Israel reportedly says that they are working on neutralizing the disruption caused by the Russian systems. Some Israelis say that they believe Russia is trying to show who is the 'landlord' of Syria.
One of the pilots of an Israeli airline stated "These events hit us quite hard in early 2019, so it more or less worked out one way or another. In the last three or four weeks we are starting to re-experience it in the Ben Gurion Airport area. There are speculations that this is "In the kind of action of the Russians, who are trying to block the possibility of harming them by disrupting GPS systems".
Two months ago a commander of the IDF Spectrum Warfare Center commented on the GPS disruptions at the Ben Gurion Airport saying "What we encountered was a spectral disturbance from the east and it took us a long time to figure out what it was".
The commander said that the disruptions are not aimed at harming Israelis saying, "if they try to prevent a plane from landing in one place, it prevents the plane from landing in another place".
KAAN news says that in recent weeks the Russian military has stepped up its operations in Syria alongside Assad's army and is reportedly using electronic warfare systems designed to protect soldiers from possible attack using satellite-based weapon systems.
One pilot says there are two types of disruptions to GPS readings, "Jamming which is to actually block the signal. The second type of disruption is called 'popping', which means that someone is transmitting a signal that is interfering with the GPS position. In this situation you can receive all kinds of alerts".
The airlines sent out instructions to the pilots in order to deal with the new phenomenon which included turning off their devices in the cockpit in the event of disruptions.
An official update has not been published by the state of Israel according to KAAN news. The pilot stated that "It could be that it's to some extent a kind of burial in the sand because we know it exists and the reports of these incidents come out in the form of incident reports, that is to say they reach the chief investigator and RTA. "An institutional alert from the state authorities did not go out".
An IDF spokesman stated that "the IDF controls the spectral dimension, protects and acts against threats as part of a multidimensional defense of the State of Israel".

Her grandmother, Rose Edith (Ivens) Bernard, with whom Trudeau had an especially-close relationship, lived in Roberts Creek, British Columbia, in later life, and was from Virden, Manitoba. Her grandfather, Thomas Kirkpatrick Bernard, was born in Makassar, Dutch Celebes, now in Sulawesi, Indonesia, and immigrated in 1906 at age 15 with his family to Penticton, British Columbia, eventually working as a payroll clerk for Canadian Pacific Railway.
Dutch Celebes refers to the period of colonial governance on the island of Sulawesi - as a commandment of the Dutch East India Company from 1699[1] until its demise in the early 1800s, and then as a part of the Netherlands Indies or Dutch East Indies until 1945. Dutch presence in the region started with the capture of Sulawesi from the Portuguese, and ended by the declaration of independence by Indonesia.

It's very interesting that the VOC (Dutch East India Company) comes into play in her/Justin's background.
For those that don't know the VOC/Dutch East India Co. became the British East India Co. and then the Committee of 300.
No wonder Justin is so special to them.
FYI. The stock market originated with the VOC. They believed in enslaving a population for mining, fur trading, whatever and if they were lucky they lived when the VOC was done with them. Otherwise they were genocided. Small pox was a favorite.
