As travel springs back and even China dismantles the last remaining Covid curbs, one stark truth is beginning to emerge — the world is running desperately short of planes.

With carriers from United Airlines Holdings Inc. to Air India Ltd. placing, or looking to place, jet orders that number in the hundreds, Boeing Co. and Airbus SE are crowing variously about blockbuster deals. But supply chain constraints mean those planes won’t be delivered until possibly years down the track — Jefferies LLC estimates there’s an order backlog of 12,720 aircraft currently. All that means the sky-high airfares that people have complained bitterly about over the past few months are here to stay, and things could get worse before they get better. “People got used to lower fares during the pandemic and China’s reopening will make it worse,” Ajay Awtaney, the founder of frequent flier website LiveFromALounge.com, said. “It’s not just a shortage of planes but also other factors like oil prices.” While one cashed-up airline in a particular jurisdiction may have the financial wherewithal to bring prices down, that would likely cause other carriers to stumble, “leading to even higher fares in the long run,” Awtaney said. Boeing and Airbus, the planemaking giants that largely enjoy a duopoly supplying passenger jets, are sold out for their most popular single-aisle models through until at least 2029.

Compounding the demand from airlines as people once again take to the skies with a vengeance and carriers look to refresh aging fleets are supply chain challenges — everything from getting the necessary components to labor shortages. Airbus earlier this month dropped its delivery goal of 700 jetliners this year citing supply chain issues and has previously warned that a jump in energy costs will weigh particularly hard on smaller, power intensive producers, such as those making castings and forgings. The end result for the flying public is eye-watering fares, which could rise even further as business travel returns and more people are willing to treat themselves as they holiday abroad for the first time in years.

It could also mean flying in older planes.

A Lawrence County man faces charges after police say he killed and mutilated his father, who he believed to be a robot.

A probable cause affidavit filed in the case against Shawn Hays says deputies responded to a welfare check on December 20 at Hay’s Mitchell home. Police say they got a call from someone who said Hays told them that Hay’s father was turned into a robot, so Hays shot and mutilated him.

The call comes about a week after various Facebook accounts linked to Hays detail a variety of alarming and troubling thoughts. In one post, written only a week before the deadly shooting, Hays declared distrust in his father writing that he believed someone had kidnapped or murdered his father and replaced him with “a robot that looks like my dad.”

The document details that when police arrived, they saw Hays trying to back out of the driveway. When they asked about his father, police say Hays told them that it wasn’t his father, but was instead a robot that looked like his father.

Police asked Hays where his father was, and the document said Hays gestured toward the residence, directly behind the vehicle. Police say he got combative when they asked him to get out of the truck.

During the argument, the document says Hays told police “It’s a robot that looks like a human…laying over there. I had to shoot at it to destroy it.”

The Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation announced on Tuesday they are investigating the “Drag Queen Christmas” all-ages drag show which took place on Monday.

“Exposing children to sexually explicit activity is a crime in Florida, and such action violates the Department’s licensing standards for operating a business and holding a liquor license,” the department said.

Officials will be looking through video and photos of the ‘all ages Christmas drag queen’ show in Fort Lauderdale.

The same group of child groomers performed in Austin, Texas last week.

Independent journalist Tayler Hansen appeared on Tucker Carlson’s show last week to discuss the sick drag show and his recent suspension on Twitter.

Tayler, who has taken a lot of heat over his reporting, told Tucker, “If Dragphobia means that I am against full-grown men dressed as women sexually dancing and committing lewd acts in front of minors intentionally, then you can consider me ‘dragphobic’ to say the least.”

And Tayler also pointed out to Tucker Carlson that he did not see many fathers there, “I’m glad you mentioned the dads, Tucker. Abstract

We administered suramin, an anti-parasitic drug and reverse transcriptase inhibitor, to 15 patients with metastatic cancer. This compound is known to inhibit the binding of growth factors (eg, epidermal growth factor [EGF], platelet-derived growth factor [PDGF], tumor growth factor-beta [TGF-beta]) to their receptors and thus antagonize the ability of these factors to stimulate growth of tumor cells in vitro. There were no complete responses (CRs), four partial responses (PRs) (two of ten adrenal cortex, one of four renal, one of one adult T-cell leukemia-lymphoma [HTLV-1]), and two minimal responses (MRs) (two of ten adrenal cortex). Toxicity included proteinuria (14 patients), reversible liver function test abnormalities (eight), vortex keratopathy (five), adrenal insufficiency (three), coagulopathy secondary to increased circulating levels of glycosaminoglycans (11), and one case of a reversible acute demyelinating polyneuropathy resembling the Guillain-Barrè syndrome. We conclude that suramin is an active agent in the treatment of metastatic cancer, and further work is necessary to define its scope.

It’s not a matter of “if,” but “when” some parts of the bloc go dark, Vienna’s defense minister has said

The European Union has little chance of staving off power outages amid the energy crunch exacerbated by the Ukraine conflict, and should brace for its impact, Austrian Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner warned on Tuesday.

Speaking to Die Welt, the minister evaluated the possibility of blackouts in some parts of the EU as “very high” in the near future. “The risk of a widespread power failure has once again increased significantly as a result of the Ukraine war,” she said.

“The question is not if it happens, but when,” the minister stressed.

Tanner also claimed, without providing evidence, that for Russian President Vladimir Putin “hacker attacks” on the Western energy grid are a form of “hybrid warfare.”

“We shouldn’t pretend that this is just a theory. We have to prepare for blackouts in Austria and in Europe,” the minister stated.

According to Tanner, Austria’s military as well as other governmental services regularly conduct relevant exercises. They are also building awareness through a campaign to distribute small brochures in public places on what should be done in case of a blackout.

When asked whether such a measure could trigger “panic,” the minister dismissed the notion. “I know there's a thin line between raising awareness with a sense of proportion and stirring up fears. But I think we’ve done quite well so far,” she said.

The specter of power outages has been haunting European countries for several months now, as the continent has been reeling under an energy crisis worsened by skyrocketing fuel prices due to the sanctions the West imposed on Russia over the Ukraine conflict.

Earlier this month, German media reported that Switzerland was considering a measure to limit the use of electric vehicles to save energy.

Around the same time, Xavier Piechaczyk, the head of French energy regulator RTE, warned that the country could face rolling blackouts due to low temperatures and high energy demand. The risk could also be exacerbated by extended maintenance halts for several nuclear reactors, Bloomberg reported last week.

In late November, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova insisted that EU policymakers have only themselves to blame for their ongoing energy crunch.

Bob Marley's grandson, reggae artist Joseph 'Jo' Mersa Marley, has died.

Sources tell TMZ Joseph, known in the music world as Jo Mersa, passed away Tuesday due to asthma-related conditions ... although the specifics surrounding his death are unclear.

Joseph, son of Stephen Marley, took to Miami Dade College and studied audio engineering after spending his early years in Jamaica.

He went on to drop an EP in 2014 called "Comfortable" ... which held some tracks like "Rock and Swing" and "Bogus." He also released the hit single, "Burn It Down," in 2016 – and put out a 2nd EP, "Eternal," last year.

He was only 31.

A Venezuelan court has sentenced two former U.S. special forces soldiers to 20 years in prison for their part in a failed beach attack aimed at overthrowing President Nicolás Maduro, prosecutors announced. Former Green Berets Luke Denman and Airan Berry admitted to taking part in the May 4 operation orchestrated by a third ex-U.S. soldier who remains in the United States, Venezuelan's chief prosecutor Tarek William Saab announced on Twitter on Friday.

"Operation Gideon" was launched from makeshift training camps in neighboring Colombia and left at least eight rebel soldiers dead while a total of 66 were jailed. Former Green Beret Jordan Goudreau, who operated a private, Florida-based security firm called Silvercorp USA, claimed responsibility for the failed attack.

Venezuelan prosecutors announced that Denman and Berry, both decorated former U.S. service members, were found guilty of conspiracy, trafficking in illegal arms and terrorism.

MIAMI (AP) — Former New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson plans to travel this week to Venezuela to urge President Nicolás Maduro to free several jailed Americans as a goodwill gesture aimed at easing tensions with the U.S.

The Richardson Center, which seeks freedom for Americans held by hostile foreign governments and criminal organizations, announced Monday the planned meeting with Maduro on social media.

Richardson didn’t say on whose behalf he was traveling to Caracas or what day he would meet with Maduro, who was recently indicted on U.S. drug trafficking charges.

But among the U.S. citizens jailed in Venezuela are two former Green Berets — Luke Denman and Airan Berry — arrested in May while participating in a botched raid organized from neighboring Colombia to oust Maduro.

Tens of thousands of people in nearly every major city in Brazil took to the streets on Wednesday to protest the election of hardline socialist and ex-convict Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to the presidency, expressing support for conservative President Jair Bolsonaro and demanding a federal intervention to block Lula.

The protests were heavily populated and reports on the ground describe them all as having an atmosphere of “euphoria,” “partying,” celebration, and whimsy. Several protests featured mass prayers for the country. Police have not documented a single instance of violence, according to Brazilian media, at the protests Tuesday that occurred in plazas and other legal areas.

Global Bonds Extend Losses Prompting BOJ to Boost Purchases (again)

Global debt markets extended an end-of year selloff Wednesday, prompting additional bond purchases from the Bank of Japan. The central bank announced an unscheduled bond buying operation to help rein in a rise in local yields. Earlier this month, it had raised its tolerated ceiling for 10-year yields, surprising investors. Meanwhile, the yield on Australian benchmark 10-year debt climbed 22 basis points to 4.05% in thin trading after a two-day holiday, amid concern that China’s reopening will keep high inflation lingering for longer. And 10-year Treasury yields climbed one basis point to 3.85%, the highest in six weeks.

Some investors fret that a rapid reopening from the world’s second-largest economy could delay an expected retreat in global inflation next year and weigh on bonds. Still, moves are being exacerbated by holiday-thinned trading and year-end positioning and others caution about reading too much into significant swings in yields. The BOJ offered to buy unlimited amounts of two-year notes at a fixed yield of 0.03% and five-year debt at 0.24%. That’s in addition to a daily offer to purchase unlimited quantities of benchmark 10-year bonds at the central bank’s policy ceiling of 0.5%.

Japan’s five-year yield fell 0.5 basis points to 0.235% while the other tenors didn’t trade. German bunds led a selloff in worldwide debt Tuesday and Treasuries slid as the year’s final sales of US sovereign debt began. China said Monday it will no longer subject inbound travelers to quarantine from Jan. 8, putting the country on track to emerge from three years of self-imposed global isolation.

Here we go again. Former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried’s case was assigned to Bill Clinton-appointed District Judge Lewis Kaplan.

TGP reported that after allowing SBF to return home to his parents’ house before Christmas that the judge who set him free next recused herself from the case because of her husband’s conflicts.

So fast forward to today when Sam Bankman-Fried’s criminal case was reassigned to Bill Clinton-appointed District Judge Lewis Kaplan, recently known for handling a Epstein-linked sexual abuse lawsuit against Britain’s Prince Andrew, and defamation lawsuits against Donald Trump, and is also known for presiding over a number of federal racketeering cases involving Mafia members. In April 2010, Kaplan was assigned to preside over the cases of 14 Gambino crime family members arrested on charges, among others, of racketeering, racketeering conspiracy, witness tampering (in the 1992 trial of John Gotti), and sex trafficking of a minor.

This is good news for SBF. Judge Kaplan is part of the Deep State Democrat gang.

Judge Kaplan has allowed E. Jane Carroll to sue President Trump for alleged rape. A Case President Trump has adamantly denied.

The former president will have to sit for a deposition on 19 October and answer questions under oath, US District Judge Lewis A Kaplan ruled on Wednesday (12 October).

Mr Trump’s legal team had asked for the testimony to be delayed – a request now denied by the judge.

Roberta Kaplan, Ms Carroll’s attorney, said in a statement: “We are pleased that Judge Kaplan agreed with our position not to stay discovery in this case.”

Mr Trump has denied Carroll’s allegations. Alina Habba, his attorney, told The Associated Press in a statement: “We look forward to establishing on the record that this case is, and always has been, entirely without merit.”

In his ruling, Judge Kaplan wrote that “the defendant should not be permitted to run the clock out on plaintiff’s attempt to gain a remedy for what allegedly was a serious wrong,” and cited the “advanced age” of the parties. MrTrump is 76 years old and Ms Carroll is 78.

Carroll’s interviews on TV concerning her allegations should have been enough to throw out any case but not with Judge Kaplan. It’s against President Trump.

Judge Kaplan also oversaw the sexual abuse (Jeffrey Epstein-related) case against Prince Andrew.

A U.S. judge dismissed the sex abuse lawsuit against Britain’s Prince Andrew on Tuesday, three weeks after lawyers for the American woman who filed it reached a deal calling for the prince to make a substantial donation to his accuser’s charity and declare he never meant to malign her character.

U.S. District Judge Lewis A. Kaplan signed court papers dismissing the August lawsuit after lawyers on both sides asked him to do so earlier in the day. The judge had given them until March 17 to complete the deal or he would set a trial date. The lawsuit cannot be refiled.

The lawyers revealed three weeks ago that they had tentatively agreed to a settlement in which the prince would donate to Virginia Giuffre’s charity and make the declaration about her character.

Andrew strenuously denied Giuffre’s allegations after she sued him, accusing the British royal of sexually abusing her while she traveled with financier Jeffrey Epstein in 2001 when she was 17.

Kaplan has been around for some time after being appointed by Clinton. He’s the perfect judge for SBJ.

A former Microsoft technologist is behind bars after he plowed his car into a crowded Washington State supermarket on Friday night after alleging that he's being pursued by a murderous satanic cult.

After crashing his car into the front of the Fred Meyer store in Everett 50 miles north of Seattle, Ronald Lewis, 57, covered himself in gasoline, police said.

Lewis then sat in his car as responding officers tried to negotiate his surrender. That's when his car caught fire.

Miraculously, Lewis escaped his car with very minor injuries. Although no official statement has been made by police regarding his motives, Lewis car had the message: 'Satanic Panic' scrolled at least twice on his car.

In the weeks leading up to the incident, Lewis alleged in multiple Facebook posts that his life was being threatened by a murderous satanic cult.

The entire incident lasted around an hour with no other injuries being reported. A Fred Meyer spokesperson said that the incident caused $50,000 worth of damage.

Lewis appeared in Everett District Court on Tuesday and was held on a $250,000 bond. He's charged with arson and malicious mischief. The judge in the case also demanded that Lewis face a mental evaluation before any possible release, reports My Everett News.

The outlet reports that Lewis told officers that he was trying to get the attention of the FBI because he wanted to talk to them about 'satanic stalking he believed he was experiencing.'

In addition to cans of gasoline, Lewis also had a propane can with him at the time of the crash.

'Satanic Panic' is a phrase typically associated with the thousands of unsubstantiated cases of ritual abuse and cult activities in the United States during the 1980s and 90s.

According to his Facebook page, Lewis formerly worked as a technologist for Microsoft. Technologists typically work on the hardware necessary for software engineer's designs.

In one post, Lewis wrote about beta testing an early version of a digital camera and coming into contact with a 'Satan worshipping band' at a concert.

On December 12, Lewis posted: 'A Satanic Devil Worship Cult attempted to abduct and kill me last night as I was sleeping in my car!! This is real. Satanic cults do exist and notoriously evil humiliation pain suffering assault Torture mutilation (of humans) and rituals, you name it, they do it.'

Lewis also wrote that he was being stalked by the cult and was hiding out in the parking lot of a local church

He writes in the bio section of his Facebook page that he is a native of Olympia, Washington, and that he now lives in Edmonds, Washington. Lewis is a graduate of Washington State University.

In his last public post before the crash, on December 14, Lewis said that he was once involved in an armed standoff with police at the Seattle Sheraton hotel after his girlfriend told police that he was going to shoot her.

He wrote that it was 'a lie and proved to be a lie.' Lewis goes on to allege that 'hundreds if not thousands of Microsoft' employees are members of a nationwide satanic cult. Lewis wrote: 'They are extremely dangerous and will not stop.'

A victim of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell broke down in tears Tuesday as she described how the pair’s “dungeon of sexual hell” pushed her into years of emotional torment and two suicide attempts.

Sarah Ransome, 37, said she spent months treated like a “sex toy” and was driven to try to escape Epstein’s island on one visit by jumping off a cliff “into shark-infested waters.”

“Soon after lulling me and others into a false sense of comfort and security, they pounced, ensnaring us in their upside-down, twisted world of rape, rape and more rape,” Ransome said in a victim’s impact statement at Maxwell’s sentencing in a New York federal court.

“Like Hotel California, you could check into the Epstein-Maxwell dungeon of sexual hell, but you could never leave.”

Ransome described Maxwell, the disgraced British socialite who was Epstein’s former lover and sentenced to 20 years in prison Tuesday, as the “five-star general” of an Epstein-led sex trafficking conspiracy. She described Maxwell “as the same woman” she was when they met almost 20 years ago.

“After all of this, how can the five star general of this enormous sex trafficking conspiracy involving so many co-conspirators that snared 100’s if not 1,000s of vulnerable girls and young women over three decades continue to maintain her innocence?” Ransom told the court.

Elane B. Stock resigned as a director of Yum Brands Inc. (NYSE: YUM) on Dec. 22, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Stock earned $260,000 in stock awards in 2021,according to the proxy filing. In total, she owned 25,577 units.

Yum’s board of directors is made up of 10 independent directors: Paget Alves, Keith Barr, Mirian M. Graddick-Weir, Thomas C. Nelson, Chris Connor, Justin Skala, Brian C. Cornell, Tanya Domier and Annie Young-Scrivner. It also includes David Gibbs, the company’s CEO, a non-independent director.

Yum Brands has more than 53,000 restaurants in 155 countries and territories, according to its website.

Shares of YUM were trading at $129.55 as of 11:30 a.m. Tuesday. That's up about a half of a percent from when trading opened.

Long Island Rep.-elect George Santos came clean to The Post on Monday, admitting that he lied on the campaign trail about his education and work experience — but insisting that the controversy won’t deter him from serving out his two-year term in Congress.

“I am not a criminal,” Santos said at one point during his exclusive interview. “This [controversy] will not deter me from having good legislative success. I will be effective. I will be good.”

Santos’ professional biography was called into question earlier this month after the New York Times reported that he misrepresented a number of claims, including where he attended college and his alleged employment history with high-profile Wall Street firms.

“My sins here are embellishing my resume. I’m sorry,” Santos said Monday.

Santos confessed he had “never worked directly” for Goldman Sachs and Citigroup, chalking that fib up to a “poor choice of words.”

The 34-year-old now claims instead that a company called Link Bridge, where he worked as a vice president, did business with both of the financial giants.

“I will be clearer about that. It was stated poorly,” Santos said of the lie.

At Link Bridge, Santos said, he helped make “capital introductions” between clients and investors, and Goldman Sachs and Citigroup were “LPS, Limited Partnerships” that his company dealt with.

He also admitted that he never graduated from any college, despite previously claiming to have received a degree from Baruch in 2010.

“I didn’t graduate from any institution of higher learning. I’m embarrassed and sorry for having embellished my resume,” he said. “I own up to that … We do stupid things in life.”

The Sunday before Christmas, 36-year-old Price Meropol McMahon ran eight miles, rooted for Argentina in the World Cup final, and celebrated the first day of Hanukkah with her family.

But just two days later, the Wellesley, Massachusetts resident and mom of two had died from complications from the flu. The doctor said hers was a "one-in-a-million case," her brother, Ian Meropol, told the Boston Globe.

McMahon, an executive at American Express and Burberry, had no history of health issues, and was a sub-4-hour marathoner, her brother told the Globe.

And yet, she started feeling feverish Monday night and was rushed to the hospital with difficulty breathing early the next morning. She died Tuesday afternoon.

About 8% of Americans get sick from the flu each season, according to the CDC, with children and teens under 18 at highest risk. Complications can include bacterial pneumonia, ear infections, sinus infections, and worsening of chronic illnesses.

Deaths from the flu range from hundreds to tens of thousands each year in the US, depending on the season. People under 2 and over 65 are most likely to die from the flu, especially if the older people have underlying health conditions like asthma, heart disease, or diabetes, according to the CDC.

Flu shots reduce the risk of severe illness, and prevent millions of cases and thousands of deaths each year, the CDC said.It's unclear if McMahon was vaccinated.

McMahon leaves behind her husband, Jimmy, of nearly 10 years, and their two children, 5-year-old James and 7-year-old Rosalie.

A GoFundMe account has been set up to assist her family McMahon family "with the many different aspects of their lives that are the unfortunate result of Price's untimely and unexpected passing," the page says.

"Everything we are doing going forward is about Rosie, and James, and Jimmy," Meropol told the Boston Globe. "That's what our life is going to be dedicated to, forever."

WASHINGTON — Sen. Mike Lee comes up several times in the Jan. 6 committee's final report, including in a section titled "Fake Electors and the 'President of the Senate Strategy,'" and in a footnote calling Donald Trump's lead lawyer "walking malpractice."

The Democratic-led House panel's 684-page report contains detailed descriptions of the scheme former President Trump and his allies pushed to overturn the 2020 election. Much of it focuses on efforts to send alternative slates of electors to Congress from states Joe Biden won.

The report says Lee encouraged the idea of having state legislatures endorse competing electors for Trump. But it also says he became concerned about the plan not only for the 2020 election but for future presidential elections.

Lee's role in helping the White House explore ways to keep Trump in office were first revealed in a series of text messages between himself and then-Chief of Staff Mark Meadows last April. Lee ultimately concluded that Congress' only role in presidential elections is to open and count states' electoral votes. He voted to certify the electoral results on Jan. 6, 2021.

"Indeed, as the joint session approached, Senator Mike Lee had expressed grave concerns about the fake elector effort in a series of text messages to one of the Trump team's senior legal advisors," the report says.

"Although Senator Lee had spent a month encouraging the idea of having State legislatures endorse competing electors for Trump, he grew alarmed as it became clear that the Trump team wanted the fake electors' votes to be considered on January 6th even without authorization from any State government body."

'Ever-changing rumors'

In one of the text messages to Meadows, Lee wrote that he was spending 14 hours a day investigating "ever-changing rumors" about alternate electors, including calling officials in states that Biden had won. Lee said he found that none of the states were changing their electoral votes, and that he never urged states to do that then or at any time before.

The text exchanges show how Lee initially supported legal challenges to the election but ultimately came to sour on the effort and the tactics deployed by Trump and his lawyers.

The Jan. 6 committee also mentions text messages Lee sent to Trump adviser Cleta Mitchell, a Republican lawyer and conservative activist. Mitchell was on the call in which Trump pressured Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to "find" votes to overturn the election.

'A dangerous idea'

"On December 30th, Senator Lee texted Trump advisor Cleta Mitchell that January 6th was 'a dangerous idea,' including 'for the republic itself.' He explained that, 'I don't think we have any valid basis for objecting to the electors' because 'it cannot be true that we can object to any state's presidential electors simply because we don't think they handled their election well or suspect illegal activity,'" according to the report,

"Senator Lee even questioned her about the plan's dangerous long-term consequences: '[w]ill you please explain to me how this doesn't create a slippery slope problem for all future presidential elections?'"

The report says that after Trump finally told Capitol rioters to go home, he and Giuliani, his lead lawyer, continued to seek to delay the joint session of Congress.

"After he spoke with President Trump, Giuliani's phone calls went nearly without fail to Members of Congress: Senator Marsha Blackburn, and then Senator Mike Lee," according to the report.

Alexandra Eckersley, the adopted daughter of MLB Hall of Fame pitcher Dennis Eckersley, is facing a felony charge of reckless conduct after her newborn baby was found unclothed and freezing in 18-degree weather in a dark wooded area in New Hampshire early Monday morning, according to officials.

Officers responded to a report of a woman who had given birth to a baby in a tent in the woods near the West Side Arena in Manchester just before 1 a.m., police said, per Boston 25 News. Alexandra, 26, allegedly lied to authorities about the baby’s whereabouts and claimed she had given birth prematurely.

After an hour of searching, police found the baby uncovered and struggling to breathe on the floor of a tent near the Piscataquag River at Electric Street, according to the Manchester Fire Department. Police transported the infant to Catholic Medical Center. The baby’s current health status is unclear.

Alexandra is set to be arraigned Tuesday in Hillsboro Superior Court-North, according to the Manchester Police Department. She was also arrested for endangering the welfare of a child.

Manchester Fire Chief David Flurey reportedly identified Alexandra as the daughter of Eckersley.

Dennis Eckersley played for 24 seasons, pitching for the Indians, Red Sox, Cubs, Athletics and Cardinals from 1975-98. He earned six All-Star nods, as well as the AL MVP award and the AL Cy Young Award in 1992. He was named the ALCS MVP in 1988, before winning a World Series with the Athletics in 1989.

Eckersley was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2004.

In October, Eckersley retired from the NESN booth after a 19-year broadcast career with the Red Sox.

At the time, Eckersley had plans to return to his native California after the season to spend more time with his grandchildren, according to The Boston Globe.

Disgraced FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried borrowed $546 million from Alameda Research to purchase Robinhood shares this year, new court documents show.

The indicted 30-year-old admitted he and co-founder Gary Wang took out the money to buy the 7% stake in Robinhood, according to an affidavit Bankman-Fried made in a Caribbean court before he was arrested that was released Tuesday.

Last week, Bankman-Fried denied he used company funds to make the purchase in the bankruptcy battle with current FTX CEO John Ray, who is looking to claw back hundreds of millions of dollars from the alleged cryptocurrency grifter, according to US court filings.

Bankman-Fried claimed he was entitled to the Robinhood stake because he was the sole owner of the holding company, Emergent Fidelity Technologies, incorporated in Antigua, that made the acquisition.
