Christianity is under attack in Jerusalem, Jordan's King Abdullah warned as he addressed the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Tuesday morning prior to his meeting with Prime Minister Yair Lapid.
"The rights of Churches in Jerusalem are threatened," said Abdullah, who as the head of the Hashemite Kingdom is also considered to be the custodian of Muslim and Christian holy sites in the city.
"Christianity in the holy city is under fire this can not continue," King Abdullah said.
"As custodians of Jerusalem's Muslim and Christian holy sites, we are committed to protecting the historical and legal status quo and to their safety and future.

32 arrests in series of actions against the Italian mafia in Spain
This operation was enabled by the deployment of some 500 law enforcement officers on the ground, including special intervention teams, canine units, helicopters and drones.
This sting follows a complex investigation initiated by the Spanish Civil Guard (Guardia Civil) who worked on this case together with the Italian Carabinieri (Arma dei Carabinieri) and Financial Corps (Guardia di Finanza), with the support of Europol and Eurojust.
This operation has resulted in:
32 arrests;
40 house searches in Ibiza, Barcelona, Malaga and Tenerife;
The dismantlement of an indoor cannabis plantation (600 plants);
Seizures includes approximately EUR 300 000 in cash, 18 kilos of amphetamine, 4.5 kilos of cocaine, firearms and ammunition.
The investigation uncovered the existence in the Balearic Islands in Spain of an organised crime group linked to the ‘Ndrangheta syndicate. The criminal gang is believed to have played an active role in cocaine and cannabis trafficking in between Spain and Italy, using vehicles equipped with hidden compartments and speedboats to transport the drugs.
The members of this criminal organisation would routinely use violence, including torture, to further their criminal goals. Some of the arrestees are linked to a number of murders in Italy. The investigation also uncovered the illegal possession of firearms by some members of this gang. The criminal profits were reinvested into real estate in Spain to hide their illegal origin, polluting the legal economy.
Europol supported this investigation by providing tailored expertise and extensive analysis support and facilitating the exchange of information through its secure channels. The exploitation of the critical intelligence carried out by Europol was crucial for the case development.
During the live phase of the operation, a Europol mobile office was deployed to Spain to facilitate the real-time exchange of information and crosschecks of the data gathered in the course of the action against Europol’s databases.
The case was opened at Eurojust by the Italian authorities in April 2022. The Agency hosted two coordination meetings to facilitate judicial cooperation and provided support for the coordinated investigative efforts, including the organisation of an action day in Spain.
This investigation was supported by the EU-funded Project ISF4@ON, an Italian-led initiative to tackle mafia-type organised crime groups active in Europe.
Headquartered in The Hague, the Netherlands, Europol supports the 27 EU Member States in their fight against terrorism, cybercrime, and other serious and organised crime forms. Europol also works with many non-EU partner states and international organisations. From its various threat assessments to its intelligence-gathering and operational activities, Europol has the tools and resources it needs to do its part in making Europe safer.

Is the UN The Most Powerful Organization in The World?
Now we know how much power the United Nations has, and its limits, let’s think about where that leaves the UN in relation to other influential global organisations. Is the UN actually the most powerful organisation in the world?
The United Nations is one of the most powerful international organisations. However, other international organisations, such as NATO, the European Union, and the Asian Development Bank, also have significant global authority. Importantly, the UN is not more powerful than national governments.
Although we tried, really, this is a very difficult question to answer. The UN definitely has significant global authority, however there are a range of other international organisations that have similar mandates to the UN and also have huge influence worldwide. However, as with the UN, none have more power than national governments, essentially making them the most powerful organisations in the world.
National governments aside, let’s do a quick comparison between the UN and some other highly influential global organisations with similar mandates…
When comparing the UN’s global power to that of other international organisations, its important to look at three main categories. The first are mutual defence organisations, such as NATO, the CSTO and SEATO. The second are inter-governmental organisations, including the European Union, African Union, and ASEAN. The third are international financial institutions, such as the European Investment Bank, the Development Bank of Latin America, and the Bank of International Settlements. These three types of organisations all have mandates that cross-over with that of the United Nations.
Mutual defense organizations, such as NATO, have similar mandates to the UN’s – to ensure peace and security. However, NATO’s mandate, for example, only covers its European and North American member states. The power of mutual defense organizations differs from the UN’s as they can take their own military action. Their authority also differs from the UN’s as they do not pass resolutions or engage in other areas of humanitarian and development work.
It is debateable if the UN or organisations such as NATO are more powerful in the world. The UN likely commands more global influence, but NATO, for example, is more powerful militarily.
Inter-governmental organisations, such as the European Union, are hugely powerful globally. Their mandates can be similar to that of the UNs as they drive development, ensure security in their regions, and create a forum for nations to conduct dialogue.
Importantly, many inter-governmental organizations can pass laws that supersede that of national governments, making them more powerful than the UN. With that said, their power lies only in their regions and they are not global organizations like the United Nations.
Finally, a group of international organisations that also have significant global power, and mandates similar to that of the UN’s, are international financial institutions. These include the Africa Development Bank, the Asian Development Bank, and the Council of Europe Development Bank. These organisations pool the financial resources of several countries in order to fund development projects within their region.
Many would argue that the United Nations is more powerful organizations the many international financial institutions. Where-as international financial institutions have significant economic power, they lack the global profile and influence of the UN. It’s important to remember the largest and most important international financial institutions, such as the IMF and World Bank, are part of the UN.

Trump's legal team is trying to avoid turning over information about whether or not the documents found at Mar-A-Lago were declassified
Former President Donald Trump's legal team is tangling with Raymond Dearie, the special master Trump requested.
At the center of the most recent issue is a set of top-secret materials that were seized in the FBI's August 8 raid of Mar-a-Lago. Trump claims he had declassified everything the FBI found. Dearie is asking that Trump's team hand over specific information regarding whether files were declassified or not.
In a September 19 filing, Trump's team appealed Dearie's request in order to avoid revealing details about the top-secret materials.
Trump's lawyers are arguing that there's a "time and place" for Trump to "disclose specific information regarding declassification to the Court and to the Government," per the filing. They're asking that Dearie not require his team to hand over information about whether documents were declassified or not.
Trump's lawyers argue that handing over these documents would force Trump to "fully and specifically disclose a defense" that he might try to mount to fight off any "subsequent indictment."
The former president's lawyers are also questioning Dearie's suggested deadlines, arguing that his draft plan "compresses the entirety of the inspection and labeling process to be completed by October 7, 2022."
"We respectfully suggest that all of the deadlines can be extended to allow for a more realistic and complete assessment of the areas of disagreement," Trump's lawyers wrote in the filing.

Former EcoHealth Alliance VP says Fauci-funded group 'developed' COVID-19
A former vice president for the EcoHealth Alliance, a major funder of the Wuhan Institute of Virology, claims that his organization "developed" SARS-CoV-2 through gain-of-function research that makes viruses more dangerous.
"The process of developing SARS-COV2 was also described in detail in the proposal submitted to, and ultimately funded by, the National Institutes of Health (HHS NIH), The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), by EcoHealth Alliance with the WIV and [University of North Carolina] listed as collaborators," according to the sworn declaration of Andrew Huff, who is represented by the attorney Thomas Renz.
The statement is included in a much larger packet dated Sept. 12 posted by Renz, who represents clients challenging COVID-19 mandates, apparently directed to Wisconsin GOP Sen. Ron Johnson, whose name is in the file name. The packet has irregular punctuation and capitalization throughout.

Democrats on the House Oversight Committee quashed a Republican effort Tuesday to advance a resolution that asked President Joe Biden to send documents related to his son Hunter's business dealings to the House of Representatives.
In a vote 23-19, Democrats voted to oppose Resolution 1243, which asked Biden to send within 14 days of passage 'copies of any document, record, report, memo, correspondence or other communication in his possession' that related to 'the Biden family's international business schemes.'
'It is time for President Biden to answer some questions about his participation in his family's business schemes with some of our most signficant adversaries for years,' said Rep. James Comer, the Oversight top Republican, during a mark-up hearing Tuesday.
With Comer's party in the minority, the GOP members didn't have enough votes to move the resolution on.
There's no further action Republicans can take currently, without winning back a majority in the House.
'The American people deserve transparency about the Biden family’s suspicious foreign business deals, but Democrats today voted to conceal this information from them,' Comer said in a statement after the vote.
The resolution specifically names not only Hunter Biden, but the president's brother James Biden and his wife Sara, along with Hunter Biden's former business associates: Eric Schwerin, John Robinson Walker and Devon Archer.
Oversight Committee Chair Carolyn Maloney, who urged Democrats not to support the resolution, pointed out that 'none of these people have a role in the Biden administration.'
Maloney said it also 'reveals the misplaced priorities of our Republican colleagues.'
'These same Republicans turned a blind eye when Donald Trump incited a deadly riot in the Capitol, violating the peaceful transfer of power. And illegally removed highly classified presidential records from the White House,' she said.
Maloney, who recently lost her New York primary to Rep. Jerry Nadler, said the resolution aimed to 'smear President Biden by targeting his family.'
'This is a nakedly partisan effort so it is no surprise that it was led by none other than former President Donald Trump,' she claimed.
Rep. Jody Hice, a Georgia Republican, chimed in arguing, 'If there is nothing to fear with Hunter Biden, than there is no reason Democrats should refuse an investigation.'
'Whether Democrats care to admit it or not, there are serious concerns about the business dealings of the Biden family. There are serious concerns,' Hice said. 'These get to whether our commander-in-chief, the president of the United States, have sought to enrich himself and his family at the expense of our national security.'

The ousted conservative Trump critic recalled it happening in the GOP cloak room hours before the former president's supporters stormed the US Capitol to stop lawmakers from certifying his defeat.
'I was working on my remarks, I was supposed to speak that day and there were sheets of paper laid out on the desks. And I asked one of the staffers in the cloakroom, "what are these sheets of paper?" Because members were coming in and signing them,' Cheney said.
The staffer told her they were objection sheets for whoever wanted to sign up to oppose President Joe Biden's victory. Only one objection is required, but Cheney said 'there were so many who wanted to show they were objecting that they’d set up these sign-up sheets in the cloakroom.'
'As I was sitting there, a member came in and he signed his name on each one of the state’s sheets. And then he said under his breath, "The things we do for the Orange Jesus." And I thought, you know, you’re taking an act that is unconstitutional,' Cheney said.
The conservative lawmaker was ostracized from her own party for her criticism of Trump following the US Capitol riot last year and her work investigating him via the January 6 committee.

Former Army infantryman, DHS research fellow Andrew Huff says Wuhan lab funder laid out "the process of developing" SARS-CoV-2 for Fauci's NIAID before it received funding.
A former vice president for the EcoHealth Alliance, a major funder of the Wuhan Institute of Virology, claims that his organization "developed" SARS-CoV-2 through gain-of-function research that makes viruses more dangerous.
"The process of developing SARS-COV2 was also described in detail in the proposal submitted to, and ultimately funded by, the National Institutes of Health (HHS NIH), The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), by EcoHealth Alliance with the WIV and [University of North Carolina] listed as collaborators," according to the sworn declaration of Andrew Huff, who is represented by the attorney Thomas Renz.
The statement is included in a much larger packet dated Sept. 12 posted by Renz, who represents clients challenging COVID-19 mandates, apparently directed to Wisconsin GOP Sen. Ron Johnson, whose name is in the file name. The packet has irregular punctuation and capitalization throughout.
"Anthony Fauci funded the creation of SARS-COV2 and lied to Congress about funding Gain-of-Function work," Renz wrote in the summary – a claim also recently made by former CDC Director Robert Redfield. "Anthony Fauci and others coordinated to cover-up the funding of the Gain-of-Function work that resulted in SARS-COV2."
Huff, a former U.S. Army infantryman in Iraq and former research fellow in the Department of Homeland Security, shared the full packet on Twitter, saying it was "sent to the US Senate and Congress last week." He has a book coming out this fall from Simon and Schuster, "The Truth About Wuhan."

Former President Donald Trump's legal team is tangling with Raymond Dearie, the special master Trump requested.
At the center of the most recent issue is a set of top-secret materials that were seized in the FBI's August 8 raid of Mar-a-Lago. Trump claims he had declassified everything the FBI found. Dearie is asking that Trump's team hand over specific information regarding whether files were declassified or not.
In a September 19 filing, Trump's team appealed Dearie's request in order to avoid revealing details about the top-secret materials.
Trump's lawyers are arguing that there's a "time and place" for Trump to "disclose specific information regarding declassification to the Court and to the Government," per the filing. They're asking that Dearie not require his team to hand over information about whether documents were declassified or not.
Trump's lawyers argue that handing over these documents would force Trump to "fully and specifically disclose a defense" that he might try to mount to fight off any "subsequent indictment."
The former president's lawyers are also questioning Dearie's suggested deadlines, arguing that his draft plan "compresses the entirety of the inspection and labeling process to be completed by October 7, 2022."
"We respectfully suggest that all of the deadlines can be extended to allow for a more realistic and complete assessment of the areas of disagreement," Trump's lawyers wrote in the filing.

SAISD officials say there was a report of a shooting, but the district confirmed there was no evidence that a shooting occurred.

SAN ANTONIO — A lockdown was issued as a precaution at Thomas Jefferson High School on the near northwest side Monday afternoon.
One person was evaluated for chest pain and another was treated for a reported hand laceration from hitting a window, according to the San Antonio Fire Department.
The incident occurred around 1 p.m. in response to a reported shooting at 723 Donaldson Ave.
Officials say upon arrival, officers entered the school and began clearing the campus. Officers said they found no evidence to suggest there was an active threat or that a shooting may have occurred at the location, according to a San Antonio Police Department statement.
San Antonio ISD also confirmed there was no evidence that a shooting occurred.
Officials said people were rushing onto the school grounds to try to connect with their students but were not allowed due to safety protocols.
The school district says that the school was placed on lockdown with a heavy police presence as a precaution and that they are actively investigating.
Below is a statement released at 2:30 p.m. by the school district:
"The school has been cleared and is deemed safe. Students can be picked up at the front of the school off of Donaldson Avenue. SAISD PD will begin reunification of the students and families. Please contact SAISD for further information."
Below is a statement issued by the San Antonio Police Department:
"Today, at approximately 1PM, West Patrol Officers were dispatched to a high school located at 723 Donaldson Avenue for reports of a shooting in progress. Upon arrival, officers entered the school and began clearing the campus. At this time, Officers continue to clear the campus, but they have found no evidence to suggest there is an active threat or that a shooting may have occurred at the location. They will continue to investigate in order to deem the area safe. We will notify everyone with any updates once we receive them."

Bankwest announces all east coast branches will close by end of October as customers flock to digital services
One of Australia's own banks is closing the doors to all of its east coast branches as customers flock to use its app and digital banking services.
Bankwest has announced it will close all its branches on the east coast of Australia by the end of October amid a winding back of its in-person banking services.
The bank’s decision comes after its 14 branches on the east coast - five in NSW and Victoria, three in Brisbane and one in Adelaide – saw a 64 per cent decline in usage.
Bankwest will now focus on investing further into improving its digital and broker services to support national home loans and on customer needs.
A decline in branch usage was also seen in Western Australia – where most of the Bankwest offices are – with the bank to adjust the opening hours in 29 of its WA branches.
The 29 affected branches will move to two and four-day weeks as customers opt to bank with the digital options.
There was a 33 per cent decline in branch transactions over the past five years while customer app usage rose 31 per cent in the past two years.
Bankwest country hub branches in Geraldton, Kalgoorlie, Albany and Bunbury will remain open five days per week.
Jason Chan, Bankwest executive general manager said the decision was made to ensure it could invest further into areas that will benefit the customers the most.
“Customers increasingly expect us to be simpler and easier to bank with via their brokers and our digital and contact centre channels, so it’s critical we meet these expectations,” he said.
“We’re exploring how we continue to get the balance right between supporting those customers who want to use branches while delivering the digital services customers expect of us.
"On the east coast, Bankwest is in a strong position to grow as a homeowner-focused digital bank due to our distinct brand, first class broker services and digital investment plans."
Bankwest general manager for personal banking Scott Spittles added the business was in the process of up-skilling its employees to ensure the transition to a more digital banking experience was seamless.
"We want our talented colleagues, who have incredible customer service skills and experience, to continue to grow their careers with us while living and working in the communities they love,” he said.
