On March 5, 1944, a combined British–Indian unit known as the Chindits began parachute and glider landings behind Japanese lines in Burma. The drop included equipment and earth-moving machinery sufficient to build a large base within enemy territory.

The Chindit commanders used Communication Intelligence (COMINT) exclusively in their planning and operations, as did the U.S. Army Air Forces leadership. The British and Americans cooperated closely in developing COMINT and using it in operations in Burma.

Air support for this operation was provided by the U.S. 1st Air Commando Group. The Chindit commander, U.K. Brigadier Orde Wingate, had good relations with the Americans. In fact, Wingate sent a message to the Air Commando group saying, “we will go with your boys, any place, any time, any where.” This phrase became the group’s motto, which is still used today in its successor unit, the USAF Special Forces Command.

A century-old letter supporting Zionism, from pre-communism Chinese leader Dr. Sun Yat-sen, recently surfaced at the National Library of Israel.

Known as the father of the Chinese nation, Sun called Zionism “one of the greatest movements of the present time.”

Sun’s words were written in a 1920 letter he sent to N.E.B. Ezra, a prominent Shanghai Zionist publisher and author.

Sun was the first provisional president of the Republic of China, established in 1912 following the fall of the last imperial dynasty, prior to the Chinese Civil War and Communist Revolution. His support of Zionism is well-documented and the letter’s text was previously known.

In the letter, Sun said: “All lovers of Democracy cannot help but support whole-heartedly and welcome with enthusiasm the movement to restore your wonderful and historic nation.”

The letter’s recipient, N.E.B. Ezra, was a Jewish scholar, writer, publisher and activist who lived most of his life in Shanghai and was born in Lahore (modern-day Pakistan). In addition to founding the Shanghai Zionist Association, he edited its mouthpiece, Israel’s Messenger, for decades.

Professor Gao Bei, an expert on Shanghai’s 20th-century Jewish community, said the letter is a seminal document that illuminates the Chinese Nationalist government’s early support for the Zionist cause.

Sun and other members of the Chinese leadership had warm relations with local and international Jewish communities and figures, many of them cultivated during years of exile prior to the ultimate fall of the Qing dynasty. Their support of the Zionist movement stemmed from both ideological and practical considerations.

The original signed copy was only now rediscovered, more than a century after it was written, as part of a major initiative at the National Library to review and detail millions of items in its archival collections, including personal papers, photographs, and documents from many of the 20th century’s most prominent figures.

A Jewish Dynasty in a Changing China

For more than a century, the fortunes of the powerful Kadoorie family have been a barometer of Chinese openness to the world.

Since 1880, when an Iraqi Jewish refugee named Elly Kadoorie arrived in Hong Kong, China has gone through a series of revolutions—from domination by Western powers to independence, from Nationalist to Communist rule, from colonialism to capitalism to communism. Through it all, the Kadoorie family have been a barometer of the country’s openness to the world, rising to become the richest Western family in China. Leaders have been seeking their advice for generations, drawn by their combination of business skills and political acumen. Now, as China cracks down on dissent in Hong Kong and defiant protesters again take to the streets, the problem facing the family—like other companies and governments seeking to deal with a more repressive and nationalistic regime—is whether China will continue to welcome them.

The Kadoories built their first fortune in Shanghai between the world wars, when the city became a global crossroads. When the communists took over in 1949 and expelled foreigners, they lost almost everything, fleeing to British-ruled Hong Kong to make a new start. Over the next 25 years they grew richer than ever, amassing an $18 billion portfolio that includes China Light and Power, which provides electricity to 80% of Hong Kong’s residents, and the luxury Peninsula hotel chain.

When the People’s Republic began to open up in 1972, after President Nixon’s visit, one of the first calls the communist leadership made was to the Kadoories, seeking their help in building a nuclear power plant. The Kadoories, who remain British citizens, became one of the country’s biggest foreign investors, returning to Shanghai triumphantly to build a new Peninsula Hotel. Today they meet regularly with top Chinese leaders, including Xi Jinping.

It has been a steep ascent since Elly Kadoorie landed in Hong Kong at the age of 18. He had been recruited to work for a major trading firm owned by the Sassoons, another Jewish family that had come to China from Baghdad 35 years earlier, just after the Opium Wars. But Elly soon struck out on his own, steering clear of opium, one of the main commodities the Sassoons transported between India and China. Instead he invested in hotels, land and utilities, building the infrastructure for the growing city of Shanghai as it became the “Paris of the East.” In time he built the grandest mansion in the city—43 rooms for just three people—and entertained celebrities like Charles Lindbergh. The Kadoories’ hotels hosted the world’s elites, including the wedding of Chiang Kai-shek.

The Kadoories were what Americans would call Reform Jews; they attended High Holiday services and spoke about religion in terms of Jewish history and values. Privately, many British businessmen disparaged the Kadoories with anti-Semitic slurs, mocking them as “hook nosed,” members of the “Jew boys club.” But in the early 20th century, as China opened up to Western ideas and students and officials began to travel abroad, many Chinese intellectuals developed a fascination with Jewish culture. Sun Yat-sen, the first president of the Republic of China, wrote to Elly Kadoorie that the Jews were a “wonderful and historic nation, which has contributed so much to the civilization of the world.” Kadoorie, an active Zionist, helped persuade him to endorse the 1917 Balfour Declaration, which laid the groundwork for the founding of the state of Israel. Like the Jews, the Chinese knew what it meant to be powerless and lose control over their homeland.

A carnival in Duesseldorf, Germany, featured a float of former President Donald Trump hog-tied over a fire.

The fire had the words “Make America Great Again” painted across it.

A photo of the vile exhibit was sent to Gavin Wax, president of the New York Young Republicans Club.

“This was being paraded around 3 days ago through Duesseldorf, Germany as part of the official carnival festivites. Vile and nauseating. Sent to me from a friend there,” Wax tweeted. “Why do we bother defending these EuroTrash countries and picking up the NATO bill?”

The Rose Monday parade also took jabs at Russian President Vladimir Putin and the fight against coronavirus.

Normally, the streets would be packed for the festivities, but was largely empty this year due to the pandemic.

“One of Germany’s first superspreader events stemmed from a Carnival celebration in a town west of Cologne in February 2020, where many people came into contact with an infected man. This year authorities are taking no chances, with public consumption of alcohol banned in some places,” the Star Advertiser reports.

In January 2020, the Iraqi Parliament voted to demand that US forces leave the country. Instead, Washington threatened to freeze the country’s bank account at the US Federal Reserve, where billions of dollars in oil wealth are stored.

The head of the North Atlantic alliance announced on Thursday that the number of troops from NATO countries in Iraq would increase eightfold, from 500 to 4,000, ostensibly in an attempt to keep a lid on Daesh*.

“Training activities will now include more Iraqi security institutions, and areas beyond Baghdad,” NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said at a Thursday press conference, noting the increase was “to support the Iraqi forces as they fight terrorism and ensure that ISIS does not return.”

“Our presence is conditions-based, and increases in troop numbers will be incremental,” he said, adding, “Our mission is at the request of the Iraqi government. It is carried out with full respect for Iraq’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. I spoke with Prime Minister al-Kadhimi this week and assured him that everything will be done in full consultation with the Iraqi authorities.”

It’s unclear how Stoltenberg’s statement affects the 2,500 US troops already stationed in Iraq.

A joint effort that included Iraq, Iran, and the US pushed Daesh out of Iraq in 2017. Its caliphate crumbled the following year in eastern Syria until the terrorist group controlled no more territory, becoming a mobile guerrilla force. However, the militia remains able to mount devastating attacks, such as the bombing of a Baghdad market last month that killed 32 people and injured more than 100.

In fact, Daesh has suffered serious losses in 2021, including the group’s deputy leader and supposed “governor of Iraq,” and the Washington Post reported recently that Iraqi forces had arrested 350 accused Daesh fighters in the past six months.

However, a rocket attack on a military base used by US forces in the northern city of Erbil on Monday killed at least 10 people, including a US military contractor and a US soldier. A Shiite militia named “Saraya Awliya al-Dam” claimed responsibility for the attack, but Washington has blamed Iran; Tehran has denied responsibility.

US forces have long been considered unwelcome in Iraq by a larger sector of the population, but after a US drone assassinated Iranian Maj. Gen. Qasem Soleimani outside Baghdad in January 2020, the Iraqi Parliament passed a resolution demanding that all US forces withdraw from the country - a suggestion that was mocked by then-US President Donald Trump.

Fox News’ Parent Company Strikes Lucrative Deal With China-Adjacent Google To Profit Off Australia’s Big Tech Ban

NewsCorp strikes a 3-year deal to profit off Internet behemoth that facilitates censorship in China

NewsCorp, the parent company of Fox News, has struck a wide-ranging three-year deal with internet giant Google to provide news content from several of its heavyweight news organizations.

The announcement indicated that NewsCorp would provide content from its premium content providers, including the US entities The Wall Street Journal and New York Post, as well as the Times and the Sun in the UK, and The Australian and Sky News down under.

The deal between NewsCorp and Google covers both audio and video products. News Corp will also get a share of ad revenue generated by Google’s market dominating AdSense.

The move suggests that the parent company to Fox News joined with Google to prematurely submit to increasing pressure from Australian lawmakers who believe Big Tech giants like Facebook and Google are profiting off the journalistic work of outside news organizations without paying for the content that draws users.

The News Corp-Google content partnership comes on the heels of Australian government introducing legislation that introduces a framework for Australian news outlets to enter binding negotiations with organizations like Google, Twitter, and Facebook. In response to the legislation from Australian, Facebook banned Australians from reading news on their platform.

The News Media Bargaining Code, introduced in July, gives eligible news outlets and the social media giants a three-month period to negotiate. If negotiations stall, the legislation mandates the matter be taken to an independent arbitrator.

The arbitrator – just as in binding arbitration in American baseball – would have the authority to impose an agreement, meaning both parties would submit their best offers, and one will be selected by the independent arbitrator.

As Americans reel from the unanswered questions regarding the credible accusations of widespread voter fraud that many believe led to the theft of the 2020 US election, as well as the first month of Joe Biden’s regime in the White House, Virginians have more questions than answers about what occurred, in the dead of night, on election day in their state.

The Gateway Pundit has uncovered a pattern in Virginia, among other states, which they have named the “Drop and Roll.” Fairfax County, Virginia was one of the counties that received one of the five suspicious 300,000 vote late-night ballot drops, according to the report.

“After some more work, we have located the Congressional Districts that include Fairfax County in their results. This is where more than 300,000 votes were recorded for Biden late that night. There were actually 5 entries – in and out and in and out and in – netting to more than 308,000 votes for Biden and only 79,000 votes for President Trump – an 80/20 ratio.”

Amid countless other examples of evidence of widespread mass voter fraud in the 2020 US election, Americans are questioning where these late-night votes came from, and why there haven’t been calls for a forensic review of the ballots.

Small Brokers Saw Massive Windfall From Robinhood's GameStop SNAFU

The lockdown in trading in volatile names over at Robinhood - i.e. the big reason for the outrage that spurred today's House hearing - has also had another effect: it has been a massive windfall for small brokerages.

Frustrated Robinhood customers wound up seeking out offerings from some of the smaller firms in the brokerage industry, steering away from the top 25 largest broker dealers in the U.S. by customers and/or assets, following the chaos.

In the 3 days after Robinhood limited trading of heavily shorted stocks, Acorns Advisers gained 100,000 new customers and M1 Finance LLC was adding 20,000 customers a day at one point, Bloomberg reported Thursday. The Acorns numbers dwarf its previous rate of accounts added, which stood at 258,000 for the entire month of January. M1's rate of adding new customers was triple that of its average.

M1 said it saw about $150 million in assets transferred from other exchanges. This was due to "people fleeing Robinhood," the company's CEO said. “But we’re still small relative to

the other places.”

M1 now has over 500,000 accounts. Similarly, Public Holdings Inc.'s app clients were up 20x over the same period of time, the report notes. Public's app focuses more on financial literacy, while the M1 app focuses on long-term investing.

One customer who left Robinhood for Public's app was 51 year old Navy veteran Chris Beaty, who said he left because Robinhood was "really, really corporate" and that it was a "morality issue". He was trying to buy stock in AMC in late January when Robinhood restricted trade, and had previously used the app to "to trade stocks like Fulgent Genetics Inc., Coty Inc. and the digital cryptocurrency Dogecoin," according to Bloomberg.

“Next to Robinhood, they seemed to have the next best app and platform,” he said of his move to Public.

Did Joe Biden 'Restart Funding' to Shady Wuhan Lab?

Twitter is abuzz with rage this afternoon at reports that President Joe Biden has restarted funding to the Wuhan Institute of Virology — the lab in China that still may be a suspect in the origin of the global COVID pandemic.

Upon a closer inspection of the reporting by the Daily Caller, it appears this was a process decision, not a political one. Additionally, only one grant to the Wuhan lab has been halted.

The Wuhan Institute of Virology is authorized to receive taxpayer funding for animal research until January 2024, the National Institute of Health told the Daily Caller News Foundation.

The WIV is at the center of widespread speculation that COVID-19 could have entered the human population in China due to an accidental lab leak. Researchers at the lab were studying bat-based coronaviruses prior to the outbreak, a project partially backed by $600,000 in U.S. taxpayer funds routed to the lab through the nonprofit group EcoHealth Alliance.

EcoHealth Alliance’s work researching bat-based coronaviruses in China was funded by a $3.7 million grant from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases in 2014, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The grant was terminated by the National Institutes of Health in April amid criticism over EcoHealth Alliance’s relationship with the WIV. The NIH said in a letter the nonprofit’s work in China did not align with “program goals and agency priorities.”

The NIH further explained to the Daily Caller that while the EcoHealth Alliance “sub-grant was suspended,” the broader NIH grant to the Wuhan Institute of Virology is still funded.

However, the WIV still has an active Foreign Assurance on file with the NIH Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare, which enables it to continue receiving taxpayer funds to engage in animal research, according to the NIH Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare.

A NIH spokeswoman told the Daily Caller News Foundation that the WIV’s Foreign Assurance was approved on Jan. 9, 2019, and is currently set to expire on Jan. 31, 2024.

So the Twitter outrage over this “story” is completely unfounded and hysterical. Joe Biden wouldn’t be inaugurated until over two years after that funding approval had already happened.

Democrat Ron Kim alleges governor covered up nursing home death data to aid donors

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo told one of his most prominent Democratic critics that he could "pretty much ruin and finish my career and my livelihood," Assemblyman Ron Kim told "The Story" Thursday in an exclusive interview.

Kim, who has heavily criticized the governor over his administration's decision to withhold data on COVID deaths in nursing homes from lawmakers, told host Martha MacCallum that Cuomo began the call by "asking me if I were an honorable man."

"He continued to yell and let me know that I haven't seen his wrath and his anger …" recounted Kim, who added that Cuomo told him that he "he can go out tomorrow and start telling the world about how bad of a person I am and pretty much ruin and finish my career and my livelihood.

"And he also said, you know, he's been biting his tongue for months about me even before all this happened," Kim contined.

The Queens representative posited that the call was "part of a ploy in retrospect … to pressure me and scare me into issuing a statement that night. He specifically said, 'Do this tonight, not tomorrow,' which is to lie about what I heard in the meeting. He actually asked me and belittled me, and said 'Are you a lawyer?' And I said, 'I'm not.'"

The meeting to which Kim referred was a conference call with Democratic lawmakers earlier this month. On the call, the New York Post reported, top Cuomo aide Melissa DeRosa said the administration withheld the true nursing home death toll from lawmakers because officials "froze" when confronted by the prospect of a federal investigation into the matter.

Kim went on to accuse the Cuomo administration of allowing "its top donors to dictate policies, writing business-friendly policies like legal immunity for nursing homes … and he orders, the state government to cover up life and death information and took away our ability, the lawmakers, our ability to legislate and change the outcome of this pandemic."

Just 24 days into his tenure as Donald Trump’s national-security adviser, Michael Flynn was forced to resign, having reportedly misled Vice President Mike Pence about his contacts with Russian officials. When Flynn departed, the men and women he’d appointed to the National Security Council grew nervous about their own jobs, and with good reason. The new national-security adviser, General H.R. McMaster, promptly began clearing out Flynn’s people, among them Dave Cattler, the deputy assistant to the president for regional affairs, Adam Lovinger, a strategic affairs analyst on loan from the Pentagon, and KT McFarland, Flynn’s deputy, who was eased out with the ambassadorship to Singapore. Even Steve Bannon, among the most powerful people in the White House, was removed from the meetings of the NSC Principal’s Committee, where he had been installed early on in the administration.

There was one person, however, who McMaster couldn’t get rid of: Ezra Cohen-Watnick, the senior director for intelligence programs. McMaster tried to remove him in March, but President Trump, at the urging of Bannon and Jared Kushner, told McMaster that Cohen-Watnick was staying, as first reported by Politico. According to a senior White House official, the two men had a sit-down meeting the following week in which McMaster acknowledged that he hadn’t been able to do what he wanted to do, and that they would keep things as they are and “see how they go for a while.” That was over four months ago. That Cohen-Watnick, 31 years old and largely unknown before entering the administration, has become unfireable reveals how important he has become to the Trump White House, where loyalty is prized.

The senior in Cohen-Watnick’s title reflects the importance of his job, if not the level of experience he brings to it. The senior director for intelligence programs on the NSC is a powerful position, designed to coordinate and liaise between the U.S. intelligence community and the White House.

"If the incumbent has an effective working relationship with the national-security adviser or even the president directly, the senior director for intelligence has an opportunity to exercise considerable influence on intelligence policy, covert actions, and sensitive collection operations," said Stephen Slick, a former CIA official who held the position during the Bush administration.

The CIA has traditionally had control over who fills this position, and normally the job is staffed by a more experienced official. McMaster, assuming he’d be allowed to relieve or reassign Cohen-Watnick, had gone so far as to interview Cohen-Watnick’s potential replacement, Linda Weissgold, a veteran CIA officer.

Despite his prominent, and apparently quite secure, position in Trump’s NSC, little is known about Cohen-Watnick, who had spent much of his short career as a low-ranking official at the Defense Intelligence Agency. Information about him in publicly available sources is scarce. Few higher-ups from the DIA remember him. Only one picture of him can be found online, a snapshot unearthed by Al-Monitor’s Laura Rozen.

Unlike other White House officials who have become public figures in their own right, Cohen-Watnick never speaks for himself publicly, leaving others to fill the void. Yet he hardly comes into sharper focus when you talk to co-workers, friends, and former colleagues. Ask around about Ezra Cohen-Watnick, and people get defensive. Some profess not to know him, or ask why anyone would want to write about him. Others simply refuse to discuss him.

“I won’t talk to any journalist about Ezra,” said Michael Ledeen, a Flynn confidant who knows Cohen-Watnick well.

“Is it one of your hit pieces?” asked Bannon, who didn’t respond to a further request for comment.

U.S. attorney John Lausch is prosecuting close confidants of Democrat boss Mike Madigan, an ally of former president Barack Obama who resigned from the state legislature Thursday after a decades-long reign in Springfield. Lausch's office will also prosecute Chicago alderman Edward Burke (D.), an influential figure accused of strong-arming businesses into retaining his law firm.

Lausch's abrupt removal has drawn bipartisan criticism from Illinois lawmakers who say he should be allowed to finish his work or depart on a longer timeline to ensure an orderly transition. The president asked all Trump-appointed U.S. attorneys to resign by the end of February but allowed two to remain in place to conclude politically sensitive work.

With much of the state's Democratic establishment in his sights, it's not clear why Biden did not extend the same courtesy to Lausch. Madigan's resignation, timed as it is with Lausch's imminent departure, will raise even more pointed questions for Lausch's successor about the future of the case.

In a news release, Superintendent Dan Bridges told residents that he "understands the great burden many of our families have faced during the COVID-19 Pandemic and hopes that this reimbursement lessens that burden." The typical family will receive a refund of $200 to $500. Good for Naperville.

The 10-month pandemic shutdown generated a savings of roughly $20 million, or about 6.5% out of a $300 million school budget. The Naperville Sun reported that the district's expenses for everything from transportation, utilities, staffing needs, and so on have been much lower while the doors have been shut.

Naperville school board member Paul Leong, a local businessman, told me: "It's amazing that we are the only school district in the area or in the state that has given taxpayers some of their money back."

Why aren't more school boards in areas where school buildings were shut down providing families and businesses with property tax rebate checks?

Heritage Foundation education analyst Lindsey Burke, who first suggested the tax rebate idea many months ago, said that if schools aren't open, the taxpayers who fund the schools deserve a break. But the National Taxpayers Association said it hasn't found any other school districts that have done so

After US Capitol Police called for National Guard troops and razor wire to stay in place through March, citing online chatter by ‘QAnon,’ two Republican members of Congress accused them of drumming up excuses for the ‘occupation.’

Several thousand troops and fencing topped with razor wire around the US Capitol – deployed after the January 6 riot – ought to stay in place at least through the end of March, lawmakers were told on Thursday. According to a report in Newsweek, Capitol Police were alarmed by online chatter by followers of the ‘QAnon’ conspiracy saying that former President Donald Trump will be inaugurated on March 4.

“Trump isn’t getting reinstated until after he wins the 2024 election,” quipped Congressman Matt Gaetz (R-Florida), a close ally of the former president. “Also, does this strike anyone as possible threat construction to justify the ongoing occupation of Washington DC?”

His sentiments were quickly seconded by Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Kentucky), a libertarian-leaning Republican.

“De-occupy DC. Send our great soldiers home. There is no threat, but the swamp wants to project that image so they can pass new laws to steal your liberty,” Massie tweeted on Thursday evening.

Several hundred Trump supporters broke into the main Capitol building on January 6, as Congress met to certify the election of Democrat Joe Biden as the next US president. One of the protesters was shot and killed by Capitol Police. Four other deaths – including a Capitol Police officer – were attributed to the riot, leading to Democrats and most mainstream media to characterize it as a deadly “insurrection” and accuse Trump of “inciting” it. They attempted to impeach him for it, even after he left office on January 20.

Some 27,000 National Guard troops were sent to Washington, DC in the aftermath, as the media cited an alleged FBI memo about potential “uprisings” across the country. None materialized, however, but some 7,000 troops stayed on guard long after Biden’s inauguration.

Acting Capitol Police Chief Yogananda Pittman has called for the fencing and other security measures to become permanent, over the objections of Muriel Bowser, the Democrat mayor of Washington, DC.

The newest pretext for maintaining the military presence is chatter by so-called “sovereign citizens,” who allegedly argued that every US president since Ulysses S. Grant has been illegitimate and that Trump will be inaugurated as the 19th – rather than the 45th – chief executive on March 4, the traditional inauguration date before it was moved to January 20 in 1933.

Chinese authorities recently announced a crackdown on criminal rings involved in making fake COVID-19 vaccines, and revealed that some of the products were distributed to other countries.

Arrested suspects were accused of gaining illicit profits totaling around 18 million yuan (about $2.78 million).

As of Feb. 10, twenty-one vaccine-related cases were being investigated across the country, with 70 suspects arrested, according to a Feb. 15 report by Chinese state media Xinhua.

One of the immutable rules when it comes to Washington politicians addressing important policy issues, is that they consistently ignore the law of unintended consequences.

A recent example is the little noticed effort by congressional Democrats to change a key component of federal funding regulations for higher education called the “90/10 rule.”

Under the rule, proprietary colleges and universities may derive no more than 90 percent of their revenues from federal student aid programs, with 10 percent coming from non-federal funding.

Australian Belt and Road Deal Expected to Be Ripped up in Weeks

Beijing’s Belt and Road deal with the Australian state government of Victoria looks set to be torn up in weeks as the deadline for the states’ to inform the federal government of all foreign agreements draws nearer.

Speaking to the Herald Sun, Prime Minister Scott Morrison said he saw no benefit to Victoria’s deal with Beijing and signalled that the agreement would be unlikely to stand under the bill.

“If there are benefits, what are they and what was paid for them? I don’t have the answers to those questions at this point, but the assessment of those arrangements will continue,” Morrison said.

Under the new Foreign Relations Bill—passed on Dec. 3, 2020—state governments have until March 10 to inform the Federal government of all deals with foreign powers.

The foreign affairs minister then has the power to veto those arrangements if they are deemed not in Australia’s interests.

The U.S. military is the ultimate meritocracy, or at least it used to be. It didn’t used to matter what color your skin was, your rank, your job and how well you did it was all that mattered. Thanks to Democrats and their obsession with, and weaponization of, race in the country, skin color will be all that matters soon.

The U.S. Navy formed something called “Task Force One Navy” last June, as the left-wing social agenda crept even under Republican presidents. Last week, they issued their report on making the Navy more “inclusive” by treating people differently based on their skin color.

As part of their report, the Navy included something called the “TF1N Pledge.” What is in this pledge is the essence of modern progressivism and will, unless something dramatically changes and Democrats either wake the hell up and resist their radical flank or lose power, destroy the greatest military the world has ever known. What does "Waiver of right of respondents Federal Election Commission, et al. to respond filed." mean?

Note this is the last update on the Berg vs. Obama case on the Supreme Court docket.

I believe it means literally "FEC (et al) Waives Right to Respond to Berg Petition". They have a right to respond to Berg Petition, but they refuse (give up) to use their right, and they are waiting for a decision from the court. What can we expect to see in this decision? Maybe a new (and this time final (?)) confirmation that Berg doesn't have a "standing" to ask the question he asked? What's your bet???

A convicted killer who gunned down an off-duty NYPD officer trying to stop a trio of car thieves in 1980 has been granted parole, it was revealed Thursday — leaving his family and fellow cops furious.

The case of the missing 13th amendment to the Constitution

The Iowa Republicans didn’t want the current 13th Amendment banned; they just wanted the “original” one reintroduced for approval. That "missing" proposal was called the “Titles of Nobility Amendment” (or TONA). It sought to ban any American citizen from receiving any foreign title of nobility or receiving foreign favors, such as a pension, without congressional approval. The penalty was loss of citizenship.

It was an extension of Article I, Section 9, of the Constitution, which doesn’t allow a public office holder to receive a foreign title or similar honors without the consent of Congress.

Following Australia’s lead, Canada has announced that it aims to force Facebook to pay for news content. Ottawa said it would not be intimidated if the tech giant seeks retribution.

Canadian Heritage Minister Steven Guilbeault said on Thursday that he would begin drafting legislation that could resemble Australia’s bid to make Facebook and other companies pay a licensing fee to feature domestically created content on their platforms.

“Canada is at the forefront of this battle… we are really among the first group of countries around the world that are doing this,” the minister told reporters.

He said that Ottawa was also considering a less forceful approach. France, for example, has required tech companies to enter into negotiations with publishers regarding financial compensation, without forcing the issue. Of the seven Republican senators who voted to convict former President Donald Trump, five have been censured by various state and county Republican Parties or by voters.

On Feb. 15, the North Carolina GOP unanimously voted to censure Sen. Richard Burr (R-N.C.), who is retiring in 2022, after he voted to convict despite previously saying it was unconstitutional to impeach a former president.

“By what he did and by what he did not do, President Trump violated his oath of office to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution,” Burr stated on Feb. 13.

Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.), who voted to convict and is up for reelection in 2026, said he did so because he “took an oath to support and defend the Constitution, and I take that oath seriously.” However, his move was denounced by the state’s GOP.

The Louisiana Republican Party unanimously voted to censure—or officially condemn—Cassidy for his vote on the same day that he voted to convict the former president.

The Lincoln County Republican Party unanimously censured Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.) for “dismissing the legitimate concerns” of Nebraska’s secretary of state, Nebraska’s attorney general, “and a huge majority of Republican voters,” while it said he failed “to respect the high office of the President of the United States.”

Sasse could lose the most politically, as the senator could be a 2024 Republican presidential candidate. He’s likely to face blowback from Republican voters, who, according to polls, view Trump very favorably.

Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), who faces reelection in 2022, was censured by Republicans in six state House districts over her vote to convict.

“I stand my ground. If I had to take that vote again, I would vote to uphold my oath of office,” she said after voting, according to the Anchorage Daily News. “And, if the party is to censure me because they felt that I needed to support the party, they can make that statement, but I will make the statement again that my obligation is to support the Constitution that I have pledged to uphold, and I will do that, even if it means I have to oppose the direction of my state party.”

In Pennsylvania, the York County GOP censured Sen. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.), who is slated to retire in 2022.

“Given his recent support of the second unconstitutional impeachment effort against a president who is no longer in office the York County Republican Committee has reached the limits of its frustration,” Republican state Rep. Dawn Keefer wrote.

Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah), a noted Trump critic from within the Republican Party, will not be censured by the Utah Republican Party after the organization said it wouldn’t do so. However, a widely circulated petition condemns the 2012 Republican presidential candidate for using “his senatorial power and influence to undermine” Trump.

The state GOP noted that Romney and fellow Republican Utah Sen. Mike Lee, who acquitted Trump, cast different votes.

“The differences between our own Utah Republicans showcase a diversity of thought, in contrast to the danger of a party fixated on ‘unanimity of thought,'” the Utah Republican Party said in a Feb. 15 statement, explaining that it won’t censure Romney.

Meanwhile, Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) hasn’t faced any punitive actions from within her party or a petition, although the state GOP is reportedly meeting to discuss potentially censuring her.
