The U.S. Secret Service and the FBI have both purchased drones from a Chinese manufacturer that the Department of Homeland Security previously warned could be “providing U.S. critical infrastructure and law enforcement data to the Chinese government.”

According to procurement records obtained by Axios and first reported on Tuesday, the U.S. Secret Service bought eight new DJI drones in July 2021. Further purchase records show the FBI also procured 19 of the Chinese-made DJI drones.

In a solicitation report associated with its DJI drone procurement, the Secret Service said the drones will “supplement the agency’s existing fleet of small unmanned aircraft and improved [sic] mission support through the use of the most up-to-date equipment nd [sic] software.”

In a solicitation statement associated with its drone procurement, the FBI said DJI’s Phantom 4 Pro drone model is “the only commercially available consumer [drone] to combine all [its required] capabilities at an acceptable cost.” The FBI statement also describes some of the features of the drone, such as GPS guidance and collision avoidance measures which it said will provide an “ease of use” for new drone operators.

Concerns about the Shenzhen-based drone manufacturer have persisted for years. In the summer of 2017, the Department of Homeland Security assessed with a “moderate confidence” that DJI drones were relaying critical infrastructure and law enforcement data back to the Chinese government.

In October 2019, the Department of Interior abruptly suspended its entire fleet of drones, including DJI drones, over spying concerns.

“Given everything we know about the Chinese Communist Party and its companies, there is absolutely no excuse for any government agency to use DJI drones, or any other drones manufactured in countries identified as national security threats,” Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), the Vice Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, told Axios.

In a statement to Axios, DJI spokesman Adam Lisberg disputed all allegations that the Chinese company’s data is not secure or that it has been passed along to Chinese authorities.

The Biden administration is pushing for dishonourable discharges and even court martialing for troops who disobey orders to get COVID vaccines.

GOP Representative Mark Green of Tennessee proposed an amendment this week to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) that would prohibit “any discharge but honorable” for troops who refuse vaccines.

The White House responded with a statement noting “The Administration strongly opposes section 716,” reasoning that it would “detract from readiness and limit a commander’s options for enforcing good order and discipline when a Service member fails to obey a lawful order to receive a vaccination.”

The statement added “To enable a uniformed force to fight with discipline, commanders must have the ability to give orders and take appropriate disciplinary measures.”

Responding to the statement, Rep. Green said “I am appalled that the Biden Administration is trying to remove my amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act that prevents anything but an honorable discharge for service members who refuse to get the COVID-19 vaccine.”

Green added “This was a bipartisan amendment — every Democrat on the House Armed Services Committee agreed to it.”

“No American who raises their hand to serve our Nation should be punished for making a highly personal medical decision,” Green previously urged.

Another section of the bill, 720, proposes that troops who have previously had COVID-19 should be exempted from a vaccine mandate. The Biden administration also opposes it, claiming it creates “a new and overly broad exemption from the vaccination requirement for previous infection that would undermine the effectiveness of the requirement.”

The House is expected to vote on the NDAA early Thursday morning.

As we have previously noted, there has been significant resistance to vaccine mandates among military service members.

The Biden Regime is contemplating releasing information to Congress about what Trump and his inner circle were doing on January 6 during the Capitol protest.

Trump however said he will cite “executive privilege” to block requests from the Democrat-led House select committee.

“The highly partisan, Communist-style ‘select committee’ has put forth an outrageously broad records request that lacks both legal precedent and legislative merit,” Trump spokesman Taylor Budowich said in a statement. “Executive privilege will be defended, not just on behalf of President Trump and his administration, but also on behalf of the Office of the President of the United States and the future of our nation.”

According to the Washington Post, the Biden Regime will likely disclose the documents to Congress in an effort to harass Trump and create more legal problems for the former president.

The White House is leaning toward releasing information to Congress about what Donald Trump and his aides were doing during the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol despite the former president’s objections — a decision that could have significant political and legal ramifications.

Trump has said he will cite “executive privilege” to block information requests from the House select committee investigating the events of that day, banking on a legal theory that has successfully allowed presidents and their aides to avoid or delay congressional scrutiny for decades, including during the Trump administration.

But President Biden’s White House plans to err on the side of disclosure given the gravity of the events of Jan. 6, according to two people familiar with discussions who, like others, spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe the private discussions.

In response to the House panel’s request, the National Archives has already identified hundreds of pages of documents from the Trump White House relevant to its inquiry. As required by statute, the material is being turned over to the Biden White House and to Trump’s lawyers for review.

The committee’s Aug. 25 letter to the National Archives was both sweeping and detailed, asking for “all documents and communications within the White House on January 6, 2021, relating in any way” to the events of that day. They include examining whether the White House or Trump allies worked to delay or halt the counting of electoral votes and whether there was discussion of impeding the peaceful transfer of power.

The letter asked for call logs, schedules and meetings for a large group, including Trump’s adult children, son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner and first lady Melania Trump as well as a host of aides and advisers, such as his attorney Rudolph W. Giuliani.

Meanwhile, the House Democrats are simultaneously working on new legislation dubbed “Protecting Our Democracy Act” to be able to go after ex-presidents (Trump).

“The measure would limit a president’s pardon power, require presidential candidates to be transparent with their tax records, and extend a deadline for prosecuting former presidents and vice presidents for federal crimes committed before or during their time in office.” NBC News reported.

House Judiciary Chairman Jerrold Nadler popped off on Thursday and said once a president leaves office, the statute of limitations will have run out.

“This policy has turned presidency into a get-out-of-jail free card,” Nadler said.

The US special envoy to Haiti resigned in protest over the deportation of Haitians who illegally crossed into Del Rio, Texas.

Ambassador Daniel Foote was named envoy to Haiti in July and resigned on Wednesday.

Foote said Haiti is a “collapsed state” and not able to handle the returning migrants, Reuters reported.

“I will not be associated with the United States’ inhumane, counterproductive decision to deport thousands of Haitian refugees and illegal immigrants,” Foote said in a letter to Secretary of State Antony Blinken that circulated on Thursday.

Nearly 15,000 Haitians illegally crossed the Rio Grande into Texas last week and created a makeshift migrant camp dubbed ‘Bidenville.’

The Biden Administration claimed it was deporting Haitians camped out at Del Rio and flying them back to their homeland.

A few flights have deported Haitians to Port-au-Prince – but the majority of Haitians are either camped out in Texas or have been released into the US.

Only 1,401 migrants have been returned to Haiti.

It was addressed to Sheikh Mohammed al-Rahbani, another Obama campaign donor involved in the proposal. In the email, Jauhari is frank about what Biden would bring to the table, and what he says Biden wanted in return:

"Per phone conversation I met with #2 son. He wants $2 per year retainer +++ success fees. He wants to hire his own people - it can be close circle of people for confidentiality. His dad is deciding to run or not.

His positives are he is Chairman of UN World Food Program, son of #2 who has Libya file, access to State, Treasury, business partner SofS [Secretary of State] J. [John] Forbes K [Kerry] son and since he travels with dad he is connected everywhere in Europe and Asia where M. Q. [Muammar Qaddafi] and LIA [Libya Investment Authority] had money frozen. Jauhari was incorrect that Biden was discharged from the Army - it was the Navy, and it was technically never confirmed that his positive test for cocaine was what led to the discharge.

Unpacking the email, BI's Mattahias Schwartz notes: "the tally of his "positives" reflects a keen sense of what he could offer the project. Biden's position at the United Nations meant he enjoyed face-to-face access to heads of state. In his memoir, Biden recalls a sit-down with King Abdullah II of Jordan. During a press briefing with reporters in Rochester Wednesday, Hochul told a group of reporters that she hoped all unvaccinated workers would meet Monday's deadline to get the jab, or lose their jobs.

For those who continue to resist - including nearly 20% of the state's hospital and nursing-home workers - they will be replaced. Possibly by foreign workers.

Faced with this, it makes sense to wonder how NY State, which has no immigration-related authority, could even credibly make such a threat? But Hochul says there have been conversations with the Department of State (albeit on a "limited basis") about the possibility of doling out emergency visas to foreign workers.

"To those who won’t, we’ll be replacing people. And I have a plan that’s going to be announced very shortly," she said.

"We’ve identified a whole range of opportunities we have to help supplement them."

Hochul said state officials were “working closely with various hospital systems to find out where we can get other individuals to come in and supplement places like nursing homes."

"We’re also reaching out to the Department of State to find out about visas for foreign workers, on a limited basis, to bring more nurses over here," she said.

Per the Department of Health's records, 19% of the state's hospital workers remained unvaccinated as of Sept. 15, and 18% of nursing home employees remained unvaccinated as of Wednesday.

Starting Monday, employers can fire unvaccinated workers who don't have a "valid medical exemption" (though employees who claim religious exemption are also immune until Oct. 12 due to a temporary injunction issued by a federal judge in Utica).

The plaintiffs in that case, almost all of them Catholic, oppose vaccines because they "employ aborted fetus cell lines in their testing, development, or production."

Though the US Conference of Bishops says it's okay for Catholics to take these vaccines if no alternatives are available, and Pope Francis has of course spoken out in favor of vaccination.

Circling back to the situation in New York, while Hochul is probably reveling in her first opportunity to play "hardball" - a game for which her predecessor was famous - New York health workers can probably rest easy - at least when it comes to the foreign worker threat.

The State Department couldn't process all those SIVs for Afghan collaborators in a timely manner. What makes you think they'll be able to dole them out to foreign workers, who probably also haven't been vaccinated. Where does Hochul think these foreign workers are going to come from? Europe?

Facebook reportedly conducted a secret campaign to push more positive content about the platform – some written internally – via its users’ ‘News Feeds’ in a bid to counter the effects of negative media coverage on its reputation.

The social media giant’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg apparently personally approved the initiative – dubbed ‘Project Amplify’ – in August, despite Facebook executives being shocked by the idea when it was proposed at a meeting in January, according to the New York Times.

Since being approved in August, Facebook has reportedly trialed the initiative in three unidentified US cities using a tool called ‘Quick Promotes’ that pushed positive stories about the company and its products on the network’s most important feature, News Feeds.

The site’s users in these cities would see posts with the Facebook logo that linked to stories and websites published by the company and on third-party local news sites. For instance, one such story with the headline ‘Facebook’s Latest Innovations for 2021’ detailed how it was pursuing “100% renewable energy for our global operations.”

According to the newspaper, this is the first time Facebook has explicitly promoted positive press about itself. The report links the campaign to a “multi-pronged effort” adopted since that January meeting to “aggressively reshape its image” by distancing Zuckerberg from scandals, reducing access to internal data, hiding potentially negative reports, and developing more ad campaigns about itself.

In contrast to its previously apologetic response to scandals such as the Cambridge Analytica data leak, Facebook’s PR strategy has become increasingly combative in recent months – during, for instance, its response to a Wall Street Journal report last week about the existence of a shadowy internal system that protected millions of high-profile Facebook users from its content-moderation practices.

After a barrage of criticism, including from former US President Donald Trump, Facebook VP of Global Affairs Nick Clegg published a blog post that called out the publication for “deliberate mischaracterizations,” alleging that it “conferred egregiously false motives” on company officials.

Facebook’s VP of Integrity Guy Rosen and spokesperson Andy Stone also took to tweeting about the article and publication, claiming there was “no news here” and saying the company had talked about the existence of the so-called ‘Cross check’ system “for years.”

In July, Rosen pushed back against President Biden’s contention that the social network was “killing people” by spreading Covid-19 misinformation. In a blog post, he accused the Biden administration of “finger pointing” and said Facebook was “not the reason” the White House missed its goal of vaccinating “70% of Americans” by the US Independence Day holiday.

However, claims emerged in August that Facebook had suppressed a transparency report for the first quarter of 2021, which stated a story that could be seen as promoting vaccine hesitancy was the most-viewed link on the platform in that period, on the grounds that it would reflect poorly on the company’s efforts to tackle Covid misinformation.

Workers Without Vaccine Passport Won’t be Paid in Italy

Under the new mandatory vaccine decree for public and private businesses, the Italian government has announced that unvaccinated workers will have their pay withheld, but they will not be suspended or fired.

The government decree will order an estimated 23 million Italian public and private sector workers to present the coronavirus passport known as the Green Pass to be eligible to work.

Some had expressed concern the decree would force those without the Green Pass to be suspended or fired. But on Wednesday, officials announced that while those who do not comply with the mandate will not be able to come to work, they will only be considered to have taken an unjustified absence and have pay withheld, Il Giornale reports.

The obligation for Italian workers to show the Green Pass will start on October 15th and be enforced until December 31st.

According to the newspaper La Repubblica, companies with fewer than 15 employees can suspend staff without the Green Pass for up to ten days and the suspension is renewable during the enforcement period.

Green Passes can also be validated by proof of a negative test result. However, the government has also stated that it will not pay for coronavirus tests for those who wish to take them instead of the vaccine to maintain their eligibility for the Green Pass. Pharmacies instead will be charging €15 (£12.88/$17.61) for adults for a test and €8 (£6.87/$9.39) for minors.

The Green Pass will be valid for 12 months. For those who have recovered from the virus, their Green Pass is issued on the administration of the first vaccine dose while others must wait until they have had both doses.

Last week it was reported that those who are found working without the Green Pass could face fines of up to €1,500 (£1,288/$1,761) which could apply to both business and employees alike. The Green Pass, which also tracks where a person has been, has been criticised by some who claim the tracking of location data is a breach of privacy rules.

During an interview with CBS’ “The Takeout” podcast recorded on Wednesday and released on Thursday, White House Chief Medical Adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci defended the NIH funding research at the Wuhan Institute Virology and said that “the only regret is that what it has caused right now is such a degree of distraction” from combating the pandemic.

Host Major Garrett asked, [relevant exchange begins around 7:35] “There were two grants from the National Institutes of Health into investigatory work in the field in the Wuhan Institute of Virology and another institution there. Have you run to ground what those did or didn’t do in terms of creating any atmosphere in which a leak could have occurred or might have occurred?”

Fauci responded, “Well, the grants that [were] funded were to do surveillance in the environment to ask and answer questions that I just mentioned, when you go out, do you see any viruses out there that could potentially evolve to infect humans and do you do surveillance among people in those areas in China to see if there’s any inkling that, under the radar screen, such viruses may have been circulating. In fact, one of the papers that came out from studies from that grant was extremely important in putting a definitive stamp of understanding of how the original SARS-CoV-1 was able to evolve. So, those were questions that got a high priority in peer review to do the research to try and understand that.”

Garrett then asked, “And to those who think there might be some type of scandal or something incorrect or ill-advised about those grants, what would you say, Dr. Fauci?”

Fauci answered, “Well, what you do, Major, is you take a look at the viruses that [were] worked on under the auspices of that grant and what the grant was directed for. And you look at the publications that came from the research associated with that grant. The viruses that were worked with in that environment, in that particular context of that grant could not possibly molecularly evolved into what we know now as SARS-CoV-2. Because when you look at how you can go from one virus and do something with it to get to be another, the viruses that the grant allowed the investigators, competent investigators to work with, molecularly, were so different than what ultimately came out to be SARS-CoV-2 that anyone that looks at those two viruses who knows anything about evolutionary virology will tell you that they’re so far apart that you couldn’t possibly have had it emerge into that particular virus.”

Garrett then asked, “Real quickly, no regrets about those grants?”

Fauci responded, “Well, the only regret is that what it has caused right now is such a degree of distraction [from] trying to do what we really should be doing, is addressing the outbreak, and what we did, and did quite successfully, was to develop vaccines that have now been life-saving. That’s what the job of myself and my team and my institute is, and, thankfully, we did that very successfully.”

As we careen downhill towards the finish line of reconciliation/debt ceiling/fiscal 2022 appropriations, things happen that make you wonder.

For instance, last week, Democrats voted for child slave labor (you read that right).

During a markup of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee’s portion of reconciliation, Democrats uniformly opposed Republican Rep. Pete Stauber’s amendment prohibiting taxpayer money from being used to buy products made or mined by child slave labor.

The amendment also required the secretary of commerce to certify that any electric vehicles, charging stations, solar panels or other infrastructure components do not contain minerals sourced with forced child labor.

It’s not clear how anyone could oppose any of this, but the Democrats did.

It is probably worth noting that the minerals mined by children in the Congo and processed by slaves in China are essential to batteries and other elements of electric vehicles.

This morning the United States House of Representatives voted to advance legislation that will allow police to confiscate firearms of individuals believed to be a threat to themselves or others, known as Red Flag Laws, that became highly controversial during the Trump administration due to fears they would be abused. The anti-Second Amendment bill, which soared through the U.S. House and will now head to the Senate, had the bipartisan support of 135 Republican representatives.

While many of those who voted alongside Democrats are not surprising to many, others portray themselves as America First candidates who seek to realize President Donald Trump’s agenda. Among these are Reps. Matt Gaetz, Madison Cawthorn, Elise Stefanik, Devin Nunes, Ronny Jackson, President Trump’s former White House doctor, and Greg Pence, the brother of former Vice President Mike Pence, as well as House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy.

- Federal law requires election data to be preserved for 22 months following an election. "Maricopa County failed to preserve the operating system security logs" within the required timeframe.

- The system had 2 bootable drives, which is not an approved configuration.

- More than 85,000 files were deleted between October 28 and November 5th, 2020 and more than 1 million files were deleted between November 1st 2020 and March 16th 2021.

- A script was run multiple times to intentionally overwrite the security logs, including the day before the auditors received the system. They have the screenshots of the people who were at the machines at the times the machines were tampered with.

- Maricopa County's system had a single password for all users and administrators. The password was created on system initialization and was never changed.

- There were hundreds of anonymous logins including remote logins.

- Remote Access, Terminal Services, and IPV6 were enabled on the EMS server. 59 ports open on boot with high port listening activity. When booted, the EMS System attempted to connect to the internet, despite the County's claims that the system does not connect to the internet.

- The County's auditors claimed they found no internet history, but CyFIR found significant internet history in unallocated disc space.

- One EMS system connection to the internet happened on February 1, 2021, which coincides with the beginning of the audit and a purge of thousands of files.

Colorado Springs Republican U.S. Rep. Doug Lamborn bristled at the introduction of the bill to kill the Space Force, which came after it was rejected as an amendment to a wider Pentagon measure.

“This is an frivolous bill that has no hope of passing," Lamborn said in an email. "The creation of the Space Force was a bipartisan effort from the beginning. This reorganization of our national security space enterprise resulted from the belated recognition of space as a warfighting domain and the increasing threat to critical space assets posed by our near-peer competitors."

The measure would have to gain traction to pass the House, where the Space Force has had support from both sides of the aisle. Even if the House backed it, the measure would face almost certain defeat in the Senate, where Democrats hold control by the narrowest of margins and the space service has had bipartisan backing.

The bill to kill Space Force is co-sponsored by U.S. Reps. Maxine Waters, D-Calif.; Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich.; Marc Pocan, D-Wisc.; and Chuy Garcia, D-Ill.

The Space Force, approaching its second birthday, was created amid rising tensions in orbit between America, Russia and China. Pushed by President Donald Trump, the new service was intended to give space troops a seat in high level discussions of U.S. war plans while giving missions in orbit more prominence in budget discussions.

With four Space Force installation, Colorado is home to bulk of the new service's troops and its key capabilities. At Colorado bases, Space Force troops, dubbed guardians in Pentagon lingo, operate almost all of the Pentagon's spacecraft, including the Global Positioning System and missile warning satellites.

This week at an Air Force Association conference, the Space Force's top general said the service is working to prevent war from reaching orbit rather than fighting battles beyond Earth's atmosphere.

“I am convinced that if we can protect our critical capabilities and deny an aggressor benefit, or impose a cost they cannot bear, we may prevent war for extending to other domains,” Raymond told the conference.

The new service, which falls under the Department of the Air Force, will eventually include an estimated 1,300 troops. Unlike the Air Force, Navy and Army, the Space Force doesn't include troops in supporting roles. The service relies on the Air Force for jobs including cooks, cops, lawyers and medics.

In a departure from the partisan battles common on Capitol Hill in recent months, Lamborn said most lawmakers from both parties have backed the the new service.

"Most Democrats don’t want to abolish the Space Force, as the Biden administration has endorsed our newest service, and congressional Democrats on the Rules Committee rejected this bill as an amendment to the Nation Defense Authorization Act," Lamborn said. "I continue to be a strong supporter of the U.S. Space Force."

Lamborn, though, may agree that the Pentagon is spending too much on one aspect of its space enterprise. The congressman has argued that President Donald Trump's decision to uproot U.S. Space Command from Colorado Springs in favor of Alabama could waste billions of dollars.

A Lamborn, amendment backed by House members, to the Pentagon policy bill would block funding of the move until investigations of the decision by the Government Accountability Office and the Pentagon's inspector general are completed.

False claims tie patents to COVID-19 vaccines

CLAIM: People who received COVID-19 vaccines are now legally patented and no longer have human rights. This is because a 2013 U.S. Supreme Court ruling in the case of Association for Molecular Pathology v. Myriad Genetics, Inc. said that if a human genome is modified by mRNA vaccines then the genome can be patented.

AP’S ASSESSMENT: False. The posts misrepresent the court ruling. Humans cannot be patented, regardless of whether they are vaccinated or unvaccinated. COVID-19 vaccines do not alter people’s DNA.

THE FACTS: An Instagram post circulating online falsely claims that mRNA vaccines against COVID-19 alter DNA, allowing humans to be patented and have their rights taken away.

But COVID-19 vaccines, including those made by Pfizer and Moderna that rely on mRNA technology, do not change a person’s genetic makeup.

The false post cites the 2013 U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Association for Molecular Pathology v. Myriad Genetics, Inc. to back up its claim, but the ruling makes no mention of mRNA vaccines. Nor does the ruling say vaccinated humans can be patented.

In fact, it has been a longstanding rule that anything found in nature, including people, cannot be patented, said Lara Cartwright-Smith, associate professor in the department of health policy and management at George Washington University.

The case before the Supreme Court looked at whether Myriad Genetics, Inc. could patent the sequences of gene mutations that can lead to breast cancer. The company’s test created cDNA, which is a clone or copy of the DNA, to test for the mutations.

The Supreme Court ruled that the company could patent synthetically created cDNA because it was not natural, but could not patent the isolated human genes.

“Natural DNA is not patentable,” said Cartwright-Smith. “The copy that they made is patentable.”

Cartwright-Smith said the post online that cites the court ruling is nonsensical.

“The conclusion that it would somehow affect the status of the person is also completely false,” she said.
