The FUBAR in Afghanistan is so large in scope and failure, the Pentagon appears to be throwing the White House under the bus; and they are being considerably obtuse while doing it…. or are they?
If these reports from Daily Mail and Wall Street Journal are accurate, the Pentagon is claiming that Joint Chief’s Chairman General Mark Milley and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin warned Joe Biden about the pending collapse of Afghanistan if 2,500 troops were removed. However, both Milley and Austin are on record only a few weeks before the collapse saying exactly the opposite.
(Via Wall Street Journal) – In his Monday speech defending America’s chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan, President Biden said he would not shrink from his share of responsibility.
That would include his decision to bring home U.S. troops, which was made against the recommendations of his top military generals and many diplomats, who warned that a hasty withdrawal would undermine security in Afghanistan, several administration and defense officials said.
The president’s top generals, including Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Army Gen. Mark Milley, urged Mr. Biden to keep a force of about 2,500 troops, the size he inherited, while seeking a peace agreement between warring Afghan factions, to help maintain stability. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, who previously served as a military commander in the region, said a full withdrawal wouldn’t provide any insurance against instability.
In a series of meetings leading up to his decision, military and intelligence officials told Mr. Biden that security was deteriorating in Afghanistan, and they expressed concerns both about the capabilities of the Afghan military and the Taliban’s likely ability to take over major Afghan cities.
Other advisers, including Secretary of State Antony Blinken and national security adviser Jake Sullivan, raised the possibility of Taliban attacks on U.S. forces and diplomats as well as the Afghans who for two decades worked alongside them. (read more)
I’m not here to defend Joe Biden, not even close; I believe the man is inept, functionally and cognitively out of touch, and completely illegitimate. However, there’s more in the background context for these (and similar) articles.
The DC “conservative” media appear to be framing these articles to give the illusion of current conflict between the White House and the Pentagon, by conflating statements made long ago (before Biden made the withdrawal announcement in April), with recent positions. The actual statements of Mark Milley and Lloyd Austin to congress only a few weeks ago run directly counter to the claims in the articles. I would advise people not to take these articles by DC media at face value…. they too have an agenda.
Here are Milley and Austin speaking specifically to the situation in Afghanistan shortly before the crisis unfolded. {4 minutes, prompted}
Secretary Austin and General Milley did not hold the position that collapse of the Afghanistan government was likely, and did not claim that troops would be needed, and did not claim that Bagrahm AFB should be kept open. Their position, as demonstrably evident, was exactly the opposite.
So why is the Wall Street Journal trying to defend the Pentagon from the mess they created, and also throw Biden under the bus?
Joe Biden, General Mark Milley and Defense Secretary Austin are all equally to blame.
The Wall Street Journal appears to be defending the military industrial complex, by separating Biden from Milley and Austin.

The middle ADSB image you posted is the history of the C-17 02-1109 RCH885 captured on the 16th.
Posting my original capture of history.
Note the data strip on the left indicating that it is showing flight history is expanded to show flight on UTC Day : 2021-08-16 and the time stamp on my capture in the pic file name.
Time stamps on the flight tracks indicate a short period after take-off from the gulf and a short period as it popped back up on ADSB as it arrived back at the base, most probably Doha middle east.
It is typical for military planes operating over places like Afghanistan not to show up on ADSB for obvious security reasons.

AMARILLO, TEXAS (KVII) — The Amarillo Police Department announced Tuesday the arrests of 27 people after an operation focusing on sex work and human trafficking. A new update to state law could make the punishment for crimes like this even harsher.
Amarillo Police Department Sergeant Carla Burr said sadly this is nothing new in the United States, Texas, even here in the Texas Panhandle.
"Texas leads the nation unfortunately in human trafficking and with us having two major interstates that go right through Amarillo, and then the accessibility of that online. We just try to do the best we can to make a dent in our area," Burr said.
Starting on Sept. 1, penalties for solicitation of prostitution will be more significant in Texas, Increasing from a Class B misdemeanor to a State Jail Felony.
"The reason that they are doing this is because we are all becoming more educated and are learning about this, and we discovered that a lot of these women and men and children are being trafficked and the people that are continuing to perpetuate that by taking advantage of them, they should be held to a higher standard," Burr said.
Sergeant Burr said in operations like this one, agents interview all arrestees to look for human trafficking victims – because not everyone arrested is doing this of their own free will.
"They were forced into it, or coerced into it, or threatened into it, or however they ended up into it and they don’t know how to get out," said Burr. "So, we are trying to help them get out of it, give them services that are offered here in our community and see if they know other people that we haven’t identified."

So I'm not smart enough to search the ADSB directly using the registration number of the aircraft, but I am stupid enough to try other things.
Maybe I have dis working?
It left Seattle on the 14th at ~ 10:30 L, and stopped reporting data at ~11:45 over Wyoming.
The ADS-B Exchange doesn't seem to have any data for the 15th, and neither does ads-b.nl. No data for the 15th.
And then it appears over the UAE on the 16th at 20k+ feet, first crossing through their airspace at between ~17:30 L and 17:45 L. Then it came back through about nine hours later, between ~02:30 L and ~02:45 L.
And no data since then.
A normalfag is going to argue that they kept their transponder off for most of the trip, and only had it on while they were flying through UAE airspace.
This is not proof.
But what I'm not seeing is also interdasting. I do not presently see any MIL aircraft checking in near or within Afghanistan.

A mother returning home from her job at a gentleman’s club was killed early Tuesday
morning when she was shot at 50 times, according to Texas authorities.
The woman, identified by friends to KHOU as 31-year-old Valeesha Duncan, died at the
scene after she exited her car in west Harris County, Maj. Susan Cotter said. Investigators
determined an unknown suspect got out of a dark-colored sedan and fired upon Duncan
as she pulled into her garage, according to Cotter and Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.
Deputies are investigating the shooting and Gonzalez has asked nearby residents to check
their surveillance cameras. Information on a suspect has not been publicly disclosed.
No one was at the home at the time of the 5:30 a.m. shooting, Cotter said. Deputies
discovered Duncan’s body in the garage next to her car, which had bullet holes in the
windows. She was “shot multiple times,” according to Cotter.
Duncan was returning home from her job at Club Onyx, an area strip club, according
to the Houston Chronicle. She was the mother of an 11-year-old boy.
The boy’s father, Timothy Richard, is questioning why Duncan was killed.
“It’s got to be something else behind this. She’s not like that,” Richard told KTRK.
“She don’t get into any altercations. Like I said, she’s a very sweet person.”
A neighbor who lives in the area, Giana Delaney, heard the gunfire and said she was scared
to look out the window because of the uncertainty about the shooter, KHOU reported.
Richard said their son has not processed the shooting death of his mother.
“He just told me has has mixed emotions right,” Duncan told the Chronicle. “I mean, he’s a kid.”
